Hello World,
strange problem this is, but I jsut can not add any new contacts or groups to my people list. I can change existing entries, but not create new ones.
I can "add" new entries, but they won't get saved - no matter how much I click on "OK" or "Done".
I have the same issue in AgendusPro - and matter of fact this whole thing started happening on my old SmartPhone as well and now I'm afraid that I might have "copied" that problem over.
Anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it?
Its not the SIM card, that one is brand spanking new (even switched Service Providers when I bought my new phone).

Hello all, I just received my X1, and I am loving it! Great way to start off the new year! However my contact list looks funny...Is there any way to change my contact list? For some reason after every name is a /1 or /2. I am getting my contacts through my sim, is there a way to remove the /1 or /2, or would I have to go through every list and take it off?
try copying your contacts on to your phone to see whether that resolves it. Some phones (my old sony ericsson phone used to) stores primary, duplicate, mobile, work numbers etc. with backslashes.
Yea mine was like that too. I didnt want to change it manually so I just beamed them from my old phone one by one :|
I know what you would've done... You previously had a SE phone in which you had stored contacts with various numbers Home number, work number etc...
Then you copied them onto your sim, before putting in the sim to the X1.
Now this is the way SE stores them on the sim...
great...no way to fix this all together? lol yeahh i had a k810i, which i don't find to be too old of a phone...i tried exporting from the sim to the phone too, didn't change anything though. Is there a way to export your contact list to the computer? I could just write up a quick c++ program to take in the list and remove all slashes and everything after that.
I wanna export my contact list into my comp
Im having problems finding for my contacts on the phone because of the overlapping of names with /1 /2 sort of titles... but before i do any changes and arrange the contacts, i wanna save them into a list on my computer. but it doesnt show on the microsoft office outlook contact list ?? help me~!
totally new to pocket pc here... please help!
greatly appreciated.
W810i to Xperia
Yea similar thing happened to me. I have a w810i and i saved all my contacts to the sim, and tried to copy them into my Xperia. The contacts were saved like
last name; firstname /m (mobile)
last name; firstname /h (home)
So what i did was I put the SIM back in my w810i and sent the contacts via bluetooth. You don't need a sim to power on the Xperia. However, i was unable to get "Send all contacts" to work. So i had to send one at a time!, it was a pain, but at least it's better than trying to removed the /m /h and consolidate the numbers into one contact.
Hope this helps!
I just corrected all contract one by one... the problem is the difference between a mobile phoen and a smart phone...
Is there a way at all to sort the names by Last, First at all? I use my phone for business and it's easier to remember last names and I sort everything by Last Name.
I dunno about sorting but there is always the search feature where you can search by last name...
Android has a BIG flaw, or google: sorting by last name is missing.
I have to use outlooks remapping of contact fields and then import to gmail to get contacts properly sorted. Its really annoying and a big flaw.
I may be weird but I still sort my contacts by first name. I never call people by their last name so it makes no sense to me to look them up that way. I always hated how windows would automatically sort by last name, unless I changed it everytime I put in a new contact. they could have made it a setting option though.
Cyanogen Mod has this feature I beleive. When Cyanogen releases the mod for N1 it will probably have it.
Hi all,
Just recieved my new HTC HD2 handset. Transferred all/most contacts from my old phone, to the SIM and placed in the new phone. However, the names show as a scramble....
eg.... If I had the name "John Smith" on my old phone, it now shows it as "-Sm;John/1"
Also, if I edit the contact, there's only one name field. However, if I add a new contact, I can add a First Name and a Surname
Just connected it to my laptop, don't have outlook, but do use thunder bird.... Is there a way a syncronising these together?
BTW: my last phone was a Sony Ericsson C902
Did you wipe the simcard before you copied all the contacts to it? My gf has something similar that occured when she combined the phone contacts and teh sim contacts. (Bit late for you to do anything about it now, of course, just asking ) as for TBird support, sorry, don't know.
I thought it was already clear TBH....
Just started a gMail account, gonna see if can sync up with that
Hey all need ur help; I am having problems saving new contacts to my contact list and saving edits to old ones. You see I am able to create new contacts and even save them, but after a few mins they disappear like I never even created them. I also experience a similar problem with editing old contacts as the changes stick only for a few mins before going back to what it was. Hence my only option for creating new contacts is to add it to my simcard thru sim manager and then import all contacts from sim to my contact list. I have tried factory reset which only helps solve the problem for an hr max before it starts the problems again (contacts created during the hr period stays). I haven't rooted or done anything to my phone yet as I want to solve this problem first so please help.
btw my streak is from att, currently unlocked
Still looking for help all please
Hope someone can help here.
Why does Android constantly resort my Outlook contact list? I spent hours fixing the data to sort by last name / first name, and now I see that the sort order has changed again, and what's worse, it's not even consistent. Some contacts are still Lname/Fname, others are Fname/Lname.
Also, I have found duplicate birthday and anniversary entries in my Outlook calendar (two, three, up to five entries), but the problem is that they're wrong. For example, I have my parents anniversary on two different dates with two entries for each date.
What the F is going on here? It's making me nuts, and is almost enough for me to want to go back to Windows Mobile.
Nobody else is experiencing this?
In fact, I just tried another experiment that failed. I added a phone number on my handset that synchronized to my desktop, then later added an address to the contact, but that address data did not synchronize back to the phone.
My experience thus far with Android and/or HTC synch is that it sucks for this sort of thing, and WM was much better. However I won't rule out that I'm doing something wrong. What's up?
Don't know if it is the same problem, but some German users had problems when syncing with Outlook. After a sync the display name was not correct (always firstname, lastname). So I wrote a small app that converts all contacts to "lastname, firstname".
You can have a look here (use at your own risk!):

I experienced the same issue too when i had my HD2 running Nandroid and i have to manually delete those wrong entries created by Android. However, I am not sure what caused the wrong entries, especially the birthday field. I also experienced multiple duplications of the same contact with slightly different contact names and i assumed that it could be due to my syncing with outlook exchange and desktop syncing using HTC sync. Have now gone back to Winmo.
