I've tried both my Virgin and O2 sim, with the later I used to get H so I think it's a tweak I've installed that has done it. How can I find out without having to uninstall all of them though?
I've installed, BsB Tweaks, Bandswith, TX DataDisconnect and Wifi Toggle...these are the only wifi related ones I think, the rest are games, soft reset, browsers etc.

Hi everyone. I just bought the new Tmob MDA yesterday and have been tooling around tryin to figure the wifi thing out.
When i bought it from the store the salesperson said that the Wifi is only active when you have the Data plan activated..... Which kind of doesnt make sense. I understand the PRS side of it but not the Wifi side....
I downloaded the CABs and registry entries and all that good stuff, with no luck.
The latest thin I tried in order to connect to a network is install WoFo companion from Socket.
HERES THE CATCH!!!! The socket apprecognizes networx in the area, but the WM2005 doesnt allow it to connect. When you say connect the WM2005 Available Networx page is blank.
Can anyone help? I really need wifi on this machine....
thank you for listening.
Yes wifi should work out of the box to - b networks. Saleperson is wrong - that only applies to gprs as you said.
What reg tweaks and cabs did you install? that should be unnecessary unless you want to logon to g networks.
Try the registry wizard that will tweak for g and show wifi plugin on the today screen. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39725
use latest version r.
One thing it might be worth looking at is downloading and installing the latest T-mobile rom. My wizard refused to connect to my secured wireless network, unless I removed all security and made it completely open ( like that's a good thing to do in this day and age) Installed the latest ROM update, and I could connect a lot more easily.
After you get used to your wizard, I can heartily recommend installing the K-Jam rom, it seems a lot faster.
thx
thx for you replies guys. i just flashed the rom to the latest k-jam.
i knda prefer no to have any tmobile branding anyways.
everythingn worx fine now.
Managed to screw mine over by installing a commanager that does not work on Touch HD, and it has no uninstall option
Thing is, i've been having network issues with T-Mobile (Holland, region UT). Basicly i have 3G/HSPDA connection but data is not working. Because of this my telephone battery is draining in 2 hours, because the application keep trying to connect... So i installed a commanager for another phone to try and disable 3G, sadly the commanager is not working and as i said there is no uninstall option.
Apreciate any kind of help!
do a search here for comm manager, I'm almost positive there have been issues like this before. Otherwise you can always backup and a hard-reset would definitely solve your prob.
Does anyone know how to get rid of it? On the Fuze you could reset the phone after you aligned the screen, but on the Pure, that screen never comes up.
Did you try a hard reset?
Yea, tried that. Everytime you hard reset, it goes to the screen "Customizing for first time use", then you are in TF3D.
Try soft reseting it while its "Customizing".
Soft resetting while it's customizing it doesn't work. It just starts the whole process over again. I got my pure yesterday and I've been trying for a few hours. Hopefully we'll be able to get one of the standard htc roms with the Sense UI on Tuesday.
I wound up just installing NRG's ROM...no more bloatware and fast as lightning.

Does marketplace still work on that ROM.
BTW, did ATT restrict HDSPA on this device like it did with the Fuze? Meaning, only 3G speeds and unable to activate HSDPA?

I didn't see an icon for marketplace in this ROM. When I typed in the website within Opera, it just said "Coming Soon".
I haven't tried HSDPA yet, just got the phone yesterday and haven't done any surfing on 3G yet, just Wifi.
Marketplace doesn't work on this rom either as the site isn't up yet from what I can tell. I think that HSDPA was restricted. I'm now running NRGZ rom on my pure per KGEISSLER's advice and am loving this phone so far.
Are you running the NRG's Leo ROM or the Genesis ROM? I am running Genesis.
I'm running the Leo. For clarification from earlier, with the AT&T rom it only showed 3G. I now show HSDPA but not sure if I'm actually receiving that or if the Icon just changed.
is there a way just to bypass the att software without having to use a custom ROM...i just got my att pure today and I wanted to get it back to the HTC factory TD2 wm6.5 status w/o all the extra stuff...
I just got my Pure today. From the looks of it you are stuck with bloatware till you flash a different rom, soft resetting before the customization process starts doesn't cut it.
So far, the phone works great. I ended up moving all the at&t crap into a folder so it didn't crowd up my start menu.
It is unbelievable that ATT is still restricting use of HSDPA. We are supposed to be happy with slower 3g speeds while iPhone users can enjoy full HSDPA speeds. Goes to show you, ATT only cares about those stupid iPhones. Granted, I can put a custom ROM on it, but I should not have to just to get full 3G speeds.
to Duttys Ultimate (leo) R4
I put on Duttys Ultimate (leo) R4 and both HSDPA and G3 seem fine to me, no more bloated junk from ATT. but I did want to add some components back on, like mobileTV... any idea on where I can get the .cab files.
How is ATT restricting use of HSDPA, and more importantly, how can we undo this without flashing to a different rom? Is it simply a registry setting?

The same thing happened with the Fuze. On the Fuze you could enable Hsdpa via advanced config but as soon as you reset it went back to 3G. Can only be fixed with a different ROM.
Hi everyone.
Since upgrading to 1.66, I have noticed something rather annoying and hope someone can provide a solution to fixing it.
When I was on 1.48, the H icon at the top of the screen would always be there. I was effectively connected to the internet all the time, and was able to leave MSN messenger etc open and I'd always be online.
When I upgraded to 1.66, the icon at the top of the screen is always 3G. It only changes to H when I'm actually using the internet. If I open the browser and check out a website, the 3G changes to H and the website begins to load. It changes back to 3G when any internet connectivity is idle.
I can only access the internet when H is displayed, but I want it connected permanently like it was on 1.48.
It's like the phone is disconnecting from the internet when I'm not using the browser. It's not very useful when I need to keep MSN messenger open all day.
Thanks.
It's not disconnected when it says 3G. It simply switches to the slower mode when nothing is being transferred to save resources. As soon as something actually needs to be transferred it goes to H again to get the fastest available speed.

Ah, okay. I can't seem to visit any websites when 3G is displayed though. Perhaps that could be to do with my operator settings or something?
i have had the same problem since installing the sms patches.... i have since hard reset to remove the patch... and testing it now... it is very anoying because it keeps my msn disconnected...
I'm using Dutty's 1.5 (it's a great ROM!) with a 2.07 radio and I've got the same problem..
When it says 3G, nothing seems to come through.. when it changes to H, the webpage starts loading...
Does anyone have a fix to make it not switch back and forth between H and 3G? It gets frustrating because it often takes 1 or 2 seconds to switch between the modes....

Let us know how to you get on because I need this fixed.
My MSN stays connected fine in 3G. Push email works perfect too.
The icons only show the available type of signal.
They don't mean you are connected.
When you do connect by opening an app that uses the appropriate signal then the icon changes to show the signal that you are connected with.
If H is not available in a particular area then it will stay on 3G and if that's not available then G with show.
Hey guys. I'm on my 4th HD2 handset now since upgrading my vodafone contract one month ago. First two handsets had similar probs as allot of you have had, i.e sms not working, alarm not working etc etc. I upgraded to the 1.66 rom when i got my 3rd handset from phones4u. I then started getting the same issues as you just described- internet only profficiently working when H coverage is active. When it goes below that then nothing happens at all. I returned the handset today and got a new one. This one already had the 1.66 Rom update installed and sure enough, had the same internet issues. I started fiddling with settings and changed the band setting from 'auto' to 'WCDMA'. ( just trial and error, so senior members please chime in if i have given bad advise!) This seems to keep the network coverage constantly in H and since changing it several hours ago i have not had any issues.
Start> Settings>Wireless controls>Phone>Band> Change Auto to WCDMA
Give it a go!

Wouldnt that make the phone stick to the 3G/HSDPA/WCDMA band only and cause the phone to have no reception around certain areas that still operate on 2G GSM?
Exact.
I rather tend to do the opposite for that reason if I have trouble (sometimes you're in areas where 3G reception is low and it keeps switching between 3G and EDGE all the time), I'll force EDGE only. It's slower, but at least the connection is constant.
When at work mine fights bewteen 3g and h and both are like 1 bar signals, i'd rather disable both when at work as G is full signal.
Is there a way?
Hi,
since some time, I am experiencing problems with my data connection. I dont really now, why but those persist through changes of AndroidOS, Radio and WM-ROM.
The Facts: HD2 european version, Operator: O2 Germany
The Problem in detail: When I am at home, I want to use my WLAN connection but some times, it doesnt connect to it. I have to manually go into the menu and reset my wlan-connection, so it works. Much more annoying is the fact, that when I am not at home (and WLAN is out of range), the phone often doesnt connect HSPA/3G/GSM/whatever and programms like maps, opera etc just claim to not having a data connection ready, though there are 2 to 4 bars. Only way to solve this -> go to flight mode, thet deactivate flight mode OR deactivate data connection, then reacivate it. Either way its annoing and mails won't be downloaded in this time, too.
My first setups, when I didnt have this problem where with WM OZDroid ROM, 2.12.50.XX Radio and many different Androidbuilts (no working compass / lightsensor etc - you know for sure ) Then I got to MDJ-Roms which I really liked and I never used another since those times. Still no Problems.
Then, by some time, I installed a new MDJ ROM - Mdeejay_FroYo_Sense_v._1.1_Clean_R75. This Rom needet to have PIN-auth disabled in Windows or it hung up in LOOP ( ). Sadly I installed a new WM-ROM and radio at the same time (I know, never change multiple parts at once... ugh!). Those where VBNDroid-Reloaded2-21913-Oct08 and Radio 2.15.50.14.
Since that time, I have this strange connection problem. I allready changed back to an oZDroid version and tried Radio 2.12 and 2.15. As Android ROM, i used MDJ eVo Sense Revolution 1.8 and now Mdeejay_FroYo_Revolution_v._1.6_S3. - Still the same problems.
I allready had the idea to reactivate PIN-auth but this option doesnt exist in my actual WM-OzDroid ROM.
Is there anyone experiencing the same problems or able to give me a hint in this case? I'am really not one of those persons "gimmie a new OS and I kill you if it doesnt work" - I know Android is work-in-progress but with all those superb fixes in past (lightsensor, compass etc) i cannot believe that a basic part like internet connection isnt working properly.
Thanks a lot for helping me out,
cmoe
RMNET
I think you'll find plenty of others who have had the same problem and some have had success with changing builds, kernels etc. There's plenty of stuff out there if you search on it.
I used to have data problems but switched to RMNET rather than PPP. You need to use a build that allows you to change this though and luckily for me, Bangsters 1.5 is such a build. It's not a sense build.
RMNET gets a bad press for it's speed, but to be honest it is perfectly ok for browsing the web. I leave all my downloading and updating till I'm on WiFi at home.
Regards your wifi issue, I have 'power control' widget on my homescreen and just switch WiFi off and on. Much easier than going into settings.

This might sound a bit noobish, but I was wondering if someone can recommend an android ROM which provides a stable data connection with the windows stock ROM WWE 3.14 (Radio 2.15.40) with SPL (not HSPL)
I'm currently using the mdeejay froyo sense (v2.4). The pain for me is that the 3G connection rarely works, even in areas with full bars, and the roamin data connection tends to drop out a fair bit as well despite full bars. I've tried rebooting, and that normally works but it is real pain to have to reboot on so many occasions (not to mention slow). I tried switchin to airplane mode and then switching the mobile network on again, but that doesn't seem to work.
