IMAP Email Client - Nexus One General

Hi all,
I seem to be having problems with my IMAP email client. Whenever I mark an item as being read, it marks it as being read on the server. But after refreshing the device, the item becomes unread.
I've done a search but couldn't find anything. Is this a known issue or has anyone else experienced this issue?

K-9 FTW......

HOWEVER, I saw the exact same behavior as you in the stock e-mail client and unfortunately I'm expierencing the same even with K-9. From what I can tell it's an issue that's logged against K-9 that's still under investigation -- sounds like the "read" flag passed by some servers isn't being interpretted correctly by the client.

Emails mark as unread goes back to being unread

I configured my work email to work with Nexus One's stock email app. I can download emails from the server, but there's a problem.
In the case of most messages, whenever I mark them as read, they are marked as unread again whenever I update my mail account from the server.
I deleted and configured this account 3-4 times already, but it's always the case.
Any fix?
EDIT:
When I configure it for the firs time, all the emails are unread. There are the ones that I actually open and they won't revert back to being unread. However, the ones that I just marked as read (with the "Mark Read" button while they are selected) revert back to being unread
same thing.
i thought it's something wrong with the email server (i have some live.com and hotmail.com email accounts installed). no problems with the gmail accounts tho.
to solve this annoying problem (if unread then you's keep receiving notifications), i have to open every single emails to actually 'read' them.
i am looking for a better way to solve this.

This is a bit offtopic, but do you find it slow to fetch messages too? My iPod Touch downloads messages for the same account faster
I have exactly the same problem on my N1..
If anyone knows how to fix, please tell us too. thanks.
p.s. I don't think it's problem at mail server, it should be the email app problem for sure. Because I using pop3. the read/unread status is handle at email client app.

Yep. My iPod Touch downloads the mails from the same server without any issue
I mentioned this before on another thread but I use my main Gmail to poll all my POP3 accounts which are then pushed to the Gmail App labelled. I don't use the Email App at all.

Weird Email issues on TmoUS rom

I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing the issues I am and if they were able to correct it.
I have two gmail addresses, One personal and one for business.
I have Thunderbird 3.0.4 setup on my laptop using gmail's IMAP
gmail online and Thunderbird on my laptop work good together and they both match (Messages/folders) as they sync constantly under IMAP.
I get my HD2 on the 24th of March. I set up both my personal and business email addresses on my phone (Using IMAP) with settings to download all messages... I click send/receive and nothing downloads to my phone...
None of my sent or to do messages sync with gmail and show up in my folders on my phone....
When new mail comes in sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't.... When I get home and check my Laptop I find all kinds of emails that my phone never got.
If I send an email from my phone, it sends fine, receiver gets the email ok but again, there is nothing in my sent folder (even with the "save sent mail in sent folder checked in settings)
I understand the purpose of IMAP is so all email clients sync and share the same information. This isn't the case with my phone.... I've deleted my email accounts and reinstalled them paying particular attention to the settings and each time I have the same end results....
Is anyone aware of a problem with this email client on the HD2.....or could it be gmail? I dunno, I can say I've never had any problems from gmail or Thunderbird before so it's very annoying not getting my email, especially my business emails
I even emailed gmail tech support and they said its my phone.... I guess I should of expected that response.
Anyone got any suggestions???
Thanks
Nobody????
Nobody at all???

HTC Email IMAP Mark as Read

I have been using the new HTC Email app for my work e-mail and I am noticing that when I mark an email as Read on the server or in my desktop email client it doesn't mark as read on my phone.
When I read an email on my phone it does not mark the email as read on the server.
Anyone else experiencing this issue? Anyone have any ideas on a solution.
Thanks

mark as read
I had the same problem with 1 particular email. I signed into my gmail account outside of the app and found the email in question to mark as read. That was a one time thing for me and I haven't had it happen. Is this a re-occurring issue with yours?
I have that problem also and it also does not show all messages in my inbox only the most recent.
Anyone know how to fix this problem?
Have exactly the same problem with my school imap server. It worked for a while, but since (I do not know what caused it) the first time it didn't "remember" read, it goes the same for any mail that comes. So if I don't go to the mail server on computer marking all as read there, they will always refresh on the device as unread. Even if I delete them on device, they will come as new messages on the device again. HTC HD2 mail server: is.muni.cz
Any help?
I can't say I have issues with my mail client when first viewing on my phone. That sounds more like POP not IMAP but I digress.
Have you tried deleting and re-adding the account?

Yes, I tried it multiple times, double checking if the settings for IMAP in my school server haven't changed. They did not. And yes, it sure is IMAP, cause I didn't want to use POP for several reasons. I have also a Gmail account (with using IMAP), but this one does not make these problems. However I don't think the problem is on their side... I think they should have IMAP covered. But noone knows. I've already contacted their administrator, waiting for response.
It very well could be an issue with your school's settings. Check with your friends to see if they notice any of those issues.
turn off 'keep on server'

3rd party email app with unified inbox similar to HTC mail?

I've been looking without success for a third-party email app which has similar support to the Aria's HTC email one. I want a single app to access IMAP, POP3 and Exchange 2010 (ActiveSync) servers, but haven't found any other than the stock HTC. Touchdown supports ActiveSync but doesn't support POP/IMAP. MailDroid supports POP and IMAP but only supports Exchange 2007 (WebDAV).
I rather like the HTC app, but it requires Sense and therefore can't be used on CM6 roms, etc.
Stretch goal - support contacts and calendar synced with desktop Outlook, as well as Exchange 2010 server. Not interested in using Google servers btw.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
I use the K9 email app. I'm not sure if it supports Exchange. Try it out.
Thanks, hadn't seen K9 before. Unfortunately it only supports Exchange va WebDAV so no go for me. When setting up, it doesn't report any kind of error in fact, but then it fails to fetch anything and starts reporting "bad character in mailbox name" (for Inbox!). So it seems more than a little buggy.
Is there really only one solution for Exchange 2010 on Android?
Touchdown for Exchange
Did you check out Touchdown? It looks promising, but my corporate IT hasn't authorized it yet, so I haven't been able to sync yet.

Stock email activesync issue

Hi,
I'm using Stock Email Client with ActiveSync. Server setup is Zimbra with NotifyLink exposing email server to be accessed using ActiveSync (Gateway).
Connection is fine, calendar works, but emails are not interpreted. I get all email subjects but when I open an email I get the message source as it is (start with Received: from hostname/ip address)
Anybody else facing the same issue?
Regards,
Amo
I used SGS1 (one) with similar setup but Groupwise as the mail server. NotifyLink worked perfectly well with the stock client, no issues, emails showed up well.
I am still to configure my SGS2 for mail - if I face problems I will update this thread. But I doubt.
I bet this is something with your NL config, the way it interprets Zimbra mails, or Zimbra is doing strange stuff to mail body.
Hi,
thanks for your feedback. accessing the email using IMAP works fine. i do suspect the notifylink gateway over zimbra mail server does something wrong.
regarding the NL setting, is something I should look for on device, notifylink or zimbra server side?
regards
Ovidiu
Problem solved. It seems that our configuration is not supporting samsung devices and this is a known issue with stock sgs email clients.
they advised me to go for touchdown, but i have decided to stay on imap + caldav sync for calendar synchronization.
to conclude, there is no problem with sgs2 activesync.

amo

I have exactly the same problem as yours (Zimbra-NotifyLink-SGS2, emails not displaying properly, organization asked to revert to touchdown, etc). I think we are working for the same organization .
Can you please describe how you are using caldav to sync calendar? Thanks.
I have been successful with setting up my email sync over IMAP. But, no luck syncing PIM data.
