Guys, anyone has the file to share? Mainly what happened was that I choose the option to sync all msn contacts into the diamond when i signed in FIRST on msn messenger via the phone. And realised after a while it was actually a hassle to have all these email addresses in my contact list on the phone. So what I did was that I deleted the list from the phone and did not realise its actually in sync with my computer as well. So when I connected the hp to my computer last night to transfer some files over, the "ZERO MSN contact list" got updated on my computer and so I lost all contacts on my computer. It was like a freak accident.
But luckily I managed to get the contacts by sourcing around. But now my worry is that if I were to connect my phone to the PC again, it would update ths system and thus delete all MSN contacts on the computer again. Any idea how I can change this setting on the phone? or by re-installing msn mesenger on the phone again? If so, does anyone have the MSN folder to share, because its a default file from the phone itself.
Thanks for all the help...
Cheers
Hi,
You can uninstall the LiveMessenger application but it would be easier to switch identity (so that there is no profile for hotmail user) and log in to application again. When you do so untick the selection of 'merge contacts'.
I went through the same grief!
You can download the app from Dutty http://www.duttythroy.net/download-area.html?task=view.download&cid=24

Hi,
Just bought a XP1 and I want to copy my text messages from my old mobile (Samsung U600) to the Xperia.
I've been trying for a few weeks now but it's just not working so I thought why not ask the experts!
Anybody know any way or any program that can help me do this!!
thanks!!!
you could try the microsoft sync program... i dont remember if it syncs the sms too...
no it doesn't.
do google search or search in this forum, for this little utility program called "PIMBackup". select backup of your messages (if you just want SMS, make sure you set just text messages instead of all messages which include email, etc) and make sure you select your storage card as the backup path.
thanks for the quick help.
But PIMBackup works on the Xperia but I'm trying to copy the textmessages from my Samsung to the Xperia.
Any thoughts?
Doesn't Samsung have a software (like nokia pc suite) that could export all your messages?
Also, look if there's any option on your Samsung that may save your messages on the memory card of the Samsung (if it has a memory slot).
why don't you use Microsoft MyPhone, it's in open beta and you can use it to sync text messages from one WM phone to another...

my bad, I thought you have a samsung winmo phone, but it sounds like you have a samsung phone running on symbian?
if so, your next best bet might be to sync to your outlook using jeyo.
Thanks for the tips..
Gonna try them tomorrow. Right now I only have a mac computer to work on.

Hi!
Does anyone know of a (preferably free!) PC application that will allow the archival of SMS messages?
What I would like to do is to copy all of my messages from my X1 to my PC then delete all messages from my X1 and then just restore a subset of them back onto my X1.
Any help would be appreciated!
Regards,
Alan
Hi. You can do that with the little app called SMS Import. This app allows you to export your stored textmessages into a *.xml-file. This file you can save on your PC, you can edit it with notepad and so you can also delete some messages before you re-import the messages to your phone.
Cheers

I'm using Jeyo Mobile Companion, which is standalone APP for SMS, calls,....... They also offer Jeyo Outlook Extender (not sure about the name right now) which integrates itself into Outlook.
The webpage is www.jeyo.com . Can recommend this, because it works flawlesly

It works. You have to save the file to My Documents. For some reason it can't save to SD Card (On my phone). I have also created an XSL Stylesheet for this applicaiton which will sort out all inbox messages (SmsImport stores ALL folders) and convert them to a proprietary XML format I designed myself, which allows you to store MMS as well (You have to manually add links to pictures etc though) and a further Stylesheet which will transform the XML to XHTML when you open the XML file and offer filtering functions with RegExp (Through JavaScript). Perfect way to manage everything for me.

This service is kinda weird. When I first synced my phone to the myphone service, it backed up all my data to the site (contacts, sms, pics, videos, etc.). But now I don't know how to sync from the phone to the myphone. Any changes you made from the myphone service will also change in your device as well.
Jeyo Mobile Companion works well

I think what you mean is that you want rid of the HTC Sense Text Messaging App (join the club).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614 will allow that. However it does have 'issues' of it's own, however being able to use exchange 2010 to backup send/recieve txt messages is worth it.
Dear everyone,
As I still wait for DHD, I have question about how to backup or tranfer all DATA from my old HTC desire which also android OS. I have try to search all but still not found the way.
Please of someone have solution please teach me.
Thank you very much.
Edit: just found that I misstype on title... from "add" to "all". very sorry about his
There's an app called "Transfer from old phone"
It asks you what kind your old phone is, and then I assume it guides you.
I just sync with Google, so I don't need it.
All your contacts and calendar should be on Google, so them come over by magic.
For everything else, I use Rerware MyBackup Pro, and it works well.

If you use the same google account all your contacts and some settings will be backed up and pop back up after sync. As for music, pictures etc drop them on to a pc via usb then upload on the new phone. If u want your texts backed up as well ive been using sms backup+ from the market (sends your texts as emails to your gmail under a sms tab, it can restore them to)
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
I've been in the same spot as the OP.
Using a Desire, want my data to go over to the DHD. The "Transfer data" feature HTC supplies is utter rubbish. It only copied the phonebook entries.
As I do not use google to sync data I resorted to MyPhoneExplorer which I use to sync Contacts to Windows Contact Manager and Appointments to Thunderbird / Lightning. I just synced my old phone to the PC, then set up the new phone and told MPE to sync data from those apps to the new phone.
Moving the text messages was done with "SMS Backup & Restore" from the Market (Author: Ritesh Sahu) which exports the messages to XML and then allows to import them in the new phone.

I don't know about utter rubbish, because I have transferred the data (contacts, SMS messages and calender entries) from a Blackberry Bold 9000 and an iPhone 3GS with absolutely no bother at all.
Thank you everyone! I will try once I got my DHD....
Thank again!
That is indeed interesting, cause when I used that feature on the initial setup of my DHD it asked me to fire up Bluetooth on the old device, paired with it and then told me that only the phonebook would be synced. It kind of made sense cause it was using BT OBEX profile for data transfer. Basically it did what any good BT handsfree would do - download the contacts.
Did you use a different connection (USB or something)?
I just did as it asked, fired up Bluetooth on both devices and it gave me the 3 options. With the Bold 9000, it wasn't even listed in the supported devices that showed on the DHD and it worked fine still
