Google Sync via ActiveSync Won't Let Me Check Calendar Box - HD2 General

Trying to setup Google Sync on my HD2 like it says on the Google Sync website.
Everything works except when selecting which items I want to sync, the Google Calendar check box is faded out and cannot be selected.
How do I sync my Google Calendar then?

Anyone know how to get it syncing?

just asking
you are using active sync
then unselecting the things it wont sync like text messages
and at the begining of the setup select manual rarther than the automatic setup option that seems to be the default
then server setting m.google.com
im only asking as i have always used this method as it works so brilliantly , all your email contacts and calander sync at all times , love it !
=====peace=====

Had to access ActiveSync from the Start menu using the default Windows Mobile interface rather than the HTC Sense version...got it to work now.

Intellisync Issues

Has anyone got Intellisync to sync with Lotus notes with WM5.
I have outlook at home and can sync no problem. However, I have Lotus notes at work and the only software that I have been given is Intellisync. I cannot get it to recognise or sync with my Mini S. All I want to do is sync my calendar. Any clues anyone - this has been driving me crazy !
Thanks

I use Intellisync with Groupwise (MDA/WinXP), and it is pretty effective.
If you install the latest version, there should be a flower-like icon in your system tray. From there go to Preferences, then Windows Mobile Device.
Click on Calendar, then hit the Choose Button. Select Lotus Notes from the list. Make sure the box is checked and you should be good to go. (If you hit options, you can set password and username to avoid having to log in to your Lotus Notes account each time.) Also, from Advanced Settings under Configure button, you can choose to filter or change field mappings. You can also choose order of precedence for conflicts and/or set for manual resolution of conflicts.
When set up is complete, you can then choose "Sync Mobile Device Now" from the system tray. Or you can set up Push Sync under the preferences menu so that it syncs whenever you set a connection, make a change, etc.
Hope this helps...

Sync contacts from home PC but calandar and mail from work exchange server?

Hi
I was just wondering if it possible to sync my contacts from my home PC using Outlook and my calandar and mail from my works Outlook exchange server on the HD2.
I am a current iPhone user and am interested in moving over to the HD2 as it looks like an awsome phone. I can do the above on the iPhone but can't find any information as to wheather this is possible on the HD2. Searched the forums but can't find an answer!
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
I don't see why this wouldn't be possible.
You can select to only link (via Exchange) your calendar and mail, I've done this. Then you just need to configure Activesync or Mobile Device Center to sync your contacts with Outlook.
Yes you can, a friend of mine has it set up that way. As Nighthawk said, it's just a case of configuring the sync right (you just have to tick boxes, so nothing challenging there!)
Dont know whether it helps, but I use an excellant app called Chronobis which allows me to pull (one way) my calendar from my work exchange server. It will also handle email & contacts.
I'm using this as I dont want to mix my home outlook contacts & calendar which I sync with Active Sync with my work stuff.
So I sync normally with Activesync and then download my work calendar which merges with my HD2 calendar... when I do an activesync... both work and home calendars are then together in Outlook.
I think in your situation you will be fine as you are not trying to "merge" contacts and calendars from 2 places at the same time.
Brilliant, thanks for your replies guys.
Yes this can be done, i do this with two exchange servers, one from my work and the other my gmail account.
Basically i sync my calendar and contacts with both and only sync my email from work.
I did this on my polaris and now on my hd2. Initially i wasn't too sure if the the hd2 would do this natively so i went with the regitry hack i used on my polaris. Perhaps someone could confirm that this can be done on the hd2 without the registry hack.
Here is the link to what i did with my polaris (and now my hd2).

Help with sync setup

Hello all, I would really appreciate some guidance on how to properly setup my syncing.
Today I sync my Hero (3G stock) with Outlook 2007 on my Win XP home computer with HTC sync, and also with my Exchange account at work (HTC sync -> Outlook on Mac via VMware). And of course the phone in its turn synchronizes with the Google cloud. And as an extra bonus I'm running Google Calendar Sync at the home computer. This goes for calendar and contacts, the mails I don't sync at all.
This results in having:
1. Multiple entries of every item, i.e on the phone I have one contact entry called "phone" and one duplicate called "Google" for every contact I have. Same for the calendar.
2. By syncing with 2 different computers I always gets some conflicts when doing the synchronization and I usually have to run every sync 2-3 times before it's complete.
Sorry for being unclear, would like to sort this out. How have you set it up? I thought about skipping the HTC sync at work and running only Google Calendar Sync, but it turns out my company's firewall is blocking this.
Well, no response here, but for further reference I can write down that I have solved it so far by deleting all "Phone" items on the Hero and to sync the calendar with Google Calendar Sync, and for the contacts I use a service called Soocial (www.soocial.com) which seems pretty nice.

[Q] Easy way to move personal data

Hey guys,
I know this isnt a Development related question, but i think a suitable answer to this question would be invaluable (i for one find myself installing all of the new builds as they come out). Is there an easy way to move things like calendar appointments and contacts from WinMo to Android?
Thanks

Use google's tools.
You can SYNC winmo contacts and calendar with Google's FREE online calendar...
then when you run Android, it will sync with the same data.
Also, when do use Google's online stuff, if you lose your phone, or you reinstall, all your contacts and calendar items resync with your new phone As long as you have a data connection (wifi or phone)
How can i get google sync to work in wm6.5? Here, in the activesync program, clicking the "set up your device to sync with it" link does nothing...
thats how it says to do it on the google sync website.

sorry, if this is not the right answer...
For WinMO - Use ActiveSync to Connect to your device, setup Sync Partnership, and it will sync from Outlook (emails, contacts, etc etc... depends on how much you choose)
For Android - the options are (depends on which accounts is selected to sync contacts)
1. Google Sync - It will sync your contacts from your gmail account
2. Corporate Account - if you are on exchange, this will sync all your contacts from Outlook.
these are 1 to 1 syncs.
-----------------
To do Outlook -> Gmail -> Android, I believe there are some software you can use... i read on google, but reviews are very subjective, and I have tried none, so wont be able to recommend.
For corporate use, I have heard CompanionLink and Touchdown to be good.

can you please post the link you are using ....
Sry I'm new so I can't post any links but searching "google sync" in google should return correct link in first result.
My suggestion - don't sync mail, it's buggy. Better use IMAP for gmail and sync only contacts / calendar.
If "set up your device..." link is dead (that was my case also) try searching ActiveSync menu for "server source" or something like that (my ROM is localized so I don't know how it's called in English version). When done proceed as in tutorial about google sync. My ROM is WM6.1 but 6.5 should work the same way.
YES I was able to fully sync contacts & calendar that way with my google account. Syncing works both ways and if you set it up correctly it will push any new or updated items almost instantly between account and a phone.

It works!
I though it tried it but i guess not. Thanks for the reply and welcome to the forums
Android uses its own internal google sync to make sure your contacts and calendar etc are synced with Google's servers.... GOOD
Windows Mobile is ALSO supported by Google who are using Exchange server!!!...you can sync over the air with ActiveSync (m.google.com)... look on Google's support site or search for "Google ActiveSync"... note, Google only supports Contacs, Calendar and Mail sync (push), it does not support tasks or notes.
Works flawlessly for me, except for STUPID HTC messing with the 'notes' field in my contacts. This is a HTC bug, so beware.
So basically, IF you use Google for your contacts and Calendar, you can keep WinMo and Android in perfect sync

Have you looked in settings/accounts and sync under manage accounts ther should be gmail sync. select that and ther should be 3 tabs for contacts, mail and calendar. make sure all are selected. toggling any off then on will do an immedite sync.
Don't know about exchange as I don't use it. does that show as well?
I have under manage accounts - pc sync which works, google which works and twitter which does not work on contacts. comes up with a sync error.
have you tried to compose email using exchange activesync... there is no option to select GAL..... man dell sucks
so, after a lot of google'ing, it seems that android 2.1, without carrier modification to allow exchange cal sync, is missing the option.
exchange cal sync is only available in 2.2
all the more reason why I desperately need 2.2
