Open Market New Freeware Marketplace For TP2/WinMo - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

http://ppcgeeks.com/2010/01/18/opnmarket-freeware-marketplace-for-windows-mobile/
its alot better designed than Marketplace and more importantly...loads of free apps

Downloading now. The regular marketplace has potential, but has been meh so far.
This looks very promising already, thanks.

Thanks for sharing this

This is nice..... very nice.

Nice
You have the choice to install app on your memory card!!!! nice find

Nice find! The Dutch marketplace is very bad. To all you Americans out here, try switching to the Dutch one with regionswitch and see how lucky you are

Thanks, love it

Looks interesting, going to try it out. Thanks for the post!

this is a really good find. i just wish the app specifications would say what resolution they are. a few apps i downloaded were really small

WHen I try to login it says that connection failed

Same here on the failed network connection.

I have that problem, I found if you log in again after you get that message it works.

I had the same problem. never actually got a good confirmed registration. So for the heck of it I just tried a straight login with the email/pwd that I was trying to register with...and viola.. I was in.

Its not working at all with me it keeps saying the connection failed

Keep track of data transfer (GPRS)

Is there any way to keep track of the amount of data transferred through GPRS.
I currently subscripe to 200mb transfer per month, so I would like to keep track of this or it could become pretty expensive for me
If you google, you'll find a couple of commercial ones, but I found this for free a while ago. To be honest, I haven't a clue where I got it from, but it was definitely free.
Ave it!
Thats exactly what I had in mind!
Thanks alot!!

You're welcome
It's a good app - very basic, but does exactly what you need. If I remember correctly, it also ensures that it's always running, until you manually stop it, so if you reboot your phone when it's running, it starts when the phone boots up again.
This looks pretty cool.
Shame it's not got a nicer looking icon
Scary how much data browsing full web pages uses but this device is just sooooo good at it

Yeah it sure works perfectly.
Nice to be able to set the date when it's supposed to restore as well.
Actually I don't find it in the task manager, at least not as a program, so it's no risk that one closes it unintentionally, which is great. It's really super
+1
Thanks
it'S a trial version ... go to "about" and it ask you for a serial number.
It most certainly is.
Well, as long as it's not a trial that will expire it works just fine for me, I don't need any other functions.
I seem to be getting red crosses in the connections is that normal?
That happens when your connection isn't active. If you start surfin the cross will probably disappear
Seems to work so far. 25kb just for email (imap4 headers) and weather update But again the problem that the connection doesn't disconnect by itself after 60sec (seems to happen when I update the weather, otherwise it seems to disconnect fine)
Did you do the tweak so it disconnects?
Remember to disable all auto-update, including weather and TIME!
Then it works with the autodisconnect.

Yes, I installed the cab and every auto-update is off. when browsing with opera or watching youtube it disconnects, but when I update weather manually it doesn't disconnect. wired.

It's like MS Marketplace....but better !

I tried OpnMarket as an alternative to MS Marketplace, what can I say, MS could learn something here.
It has a good way to browse the apps and I have not seen one you have to pay for (donations are welcome though).
The number of apps are currenly limited, but still more than the Marketplace, however I'm sure it'll grow.
True, this OPN Market seems good and I think most applications or games are free inside, right?
While MSN Market have some applications or games which need to purchase before downloading.
Also, unlike MS Marketplace, you have the ability to save the applications where you want instead of just to the device, thus saving the precious memory on your phone.
I know you can just move the apps manually but the is just a hassle to do, and to be honest I just couldn't be bothered to use the Marketplace mainly for this reason.
thanks for the heads up. I just installed this now. microsoft should be ashamed of themselves!
Marketplace seems to be the biggest failure when it comes to Windows Mobile. What help us great hardware, if don't have applications to run on.
Looks very interesting! But I constantly get a 'Connection failed! Please check your internet connection and try again.' error when trying to log in through the application.
Anyone else with the same problem? Connection is working fine btw so that can't really be the issue.
It was working well for me... Installed an app to my storage card, was quite happy with the interface, even if it did feel a little low-res. However, on downloading my 2nd app, I clicked "back" hoping it would download in the background. IT appeared to stop, so I went back to the app I wanted to download. The store then locked up, and eventually crashed out and now won't load.
Very poor error handling, in my opinion.

I have to say I also thought that it was going to download in the background, however for a first release it is still miles better than Marketplace

Works good, and a way better than a MS Marketplace (especially local one). Beatiful gui without those monstfous MS fonts

Below are some possible download issues/solutions. These are from their troubleshooting site.
If a download you requested from the Android Market website never started on your device, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
Confirm that there is connectivity on your device (contact your mobile service provider if you aren't connected)
If downloading a paid application, confirm that your credit card information is up to date by logging in your Google Checkout account
Make sure that your phone is logged into Google Talk by following these steps:
Go to your phone’s app launcher, and press the Talk app
If you’re already logged into Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out
Launch Talk again to sign in
Make sure that your phone has enough available space to install the app. If necessary, try uninstalling some existing applications or moving them to your SD card.
Try requesting the download again using Android Market from your device.

but thanks for the head up
EDIT: is it even ready yet?? will it let you sign in...cuz it wont let me
Ikr lol i love it
And yeah signing in a problem too it says invalid something
It will go live very soon. Some can, some can't.
Beautiful though. Good sign of things to come.
Anyone else get "Invalid Request" after trying to sign in? It looks like a site error rather than a browser one. I get the same message from multiple browsers.

i got that from the main page, but then i clicked on an app to dl and it sent me to an actual login page. i didn't login cause i didn't actually want to dl the app, i was just checking, so it might work that way.
This is nice!
good find had no trouble signing in.
Very exciting!!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Tried again. Working now. Might have been the traffic / popularity of the site.
Not sure if you guys watched the honeycomb announcement, but it was amazing. Made me want a tablet, and donkey punch an ipad user.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is exciting about web access to the market? Is it supposed to be better than our regular market app?
The Hotness! Logged in. See all of my apps. Can download apps from the website will sync immediately into your phone!
Way to step up android!!
You can browse on your computer, then install the apps OTA, so to speak. Easier to link to apps you like, install them without taking the phone out of your pocket, for example, that kind of stuff. It's just more convenient in some situations.
Well, I just thought of something.... does it work with custom ROM's? I just downloaded something on the net, and it hasn't really downloaded on Bionix V. Maybe I should go on over to the Bionix V thread and ask.
Unfortunately, it is so pointless right now because it can't function correctly over wifi only* connection. It just lists it in my market place under "My Downloads" and not actually installing the application.
I am using wifi only, because 3g is cut off in my office building.
*NOT on wifi but WIFI ONLY

Well I'm pretty sure all developers keep the fingerprint as the old eclair build for proper regular market access. Obviously I have no idea if this website would react differently. Who's to say it's not just as problematic on stock builds though? It is a brand new site after all.
Edit: Well I tried it out for the fun of it. It shows the download trying to take place on my phone, but the progress bar does nothing. Then again, I get this fairly often with the regular market too.

Android Market installations now available via your browser!

Ok, so this was announced earlier today and I saw it and thought "meh". I had a browse about and still thought "meh", but then I discovered the fact that I can install apps on my phone directly from the browser.
When I first tried it, it didn't work, but every other app after that was installing on my phone within seconds of my clicking the install button. So basically, I can install apps on my phone from any internet ready computer.
Thanks Google. You just made something sweet a little sweeter!
Enjoy, my friends

Yes mate. I am genuinely surprised at how seamless it is. I had my phone in front of the screen and clicked "install" and it immediately started downloading on my phone. It's a VERY nice feature!

make sure you setup your gmail account on the phone and access the market then exit, then it will work. I had the same issue until I did that, cause the FAQ says that will happen if you havent visited market recently.
Now this is cool, utterly great find, no more market on the phone.
BTW, you dont have to access market with https, you can access the same page without the cert error using http.

I can see

Great stuff is this!
I can't get apps to download to my device. When in my PC browser, I am logged into market, can see my device in the pull down menu and it says it will be installed onto my device shortly, but nothing happens. I tried rebooting, logging out of Talk and back in, downloading the app directly from the market android app (which works, but doesn't solve the app delivery via browser), and also trying downloading from my android browser. No luck. Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: Nevermind. Flashed pongster's latest Ginger Rom and all is good.

[Q] Marketplace won't download stuff

So the problem that I have is, whenever I try to download an App from the Marketplace, it loads for a bit then stops and gives me that "Attention required" error saying that its my Wifi which cant be true since I'm using the same Wifi at the same time on my laptop and it works fine.
IE,Emails,Youtube...everything works fine except the Marketplace.
I'm using HD2O's ROM.

post your question on hd2o's thread. that error usually means the app is too large for your mobile data...should use wifi connection to download.
did this app already installed and you want to update?
Should clarify something, I cant post in Development yet, since I have been on here for quite some tome but never actually posting.
And I am using Wifi.
Trying to download apps that are not on my phone if that helps.
After trying a lot of times I discovered that to download it takes a butt load of tries, basically waiting till it gives me that error and and pretty much Retry...so like after 10 to 15 times pressing retry, it sometimes downloads. But obviously I want it to work normally and not spare half of my battery and two hours to download a podcast app.
did you enter Live account data and activate with Live activation code?
Yup, both done.
Rom : Hd2o wp7.8
