Youtube.com going to m.youtube.com

i try to go to youtube.com and it keeps going to m.youtube.com.. can ne 1 please help me?? I have the isp.cingular connection i'm using too.

Been getting the same thing, and trying to figure out why. I would love to know what the deal is. I was hoping to see how the plugin works with the wifi and all that.

I'm not an expert, but I can tell you that most of the important web sites, look for the users browser to render the site for them in the best way possible. When you go to google, maybe cnet, hotmail, en others, they recognize you as a mobile surfer, so they know they can't give you a 1024*768 website version. Instead, they give you acces to their "mobile version web site" with less width, graphics and texts.
Youtube has his services for mobile users in m.youtube.com, the videos are not flash videos like the full web site and you dont have full access to ALL the videos. They stream you videos instead.
By the way, it seems that My ATT8525 doesn't have the codecs because I couldn't watch any videos in youtube.

It's a registry key that determines whether or not you go to the wap versions of websites, connecting through wap.cingular.com or isp.cingular.com doesn't make a difference.
I found the key after a lot of searching, but I don't remember now which key it ultimately was. Also, I don't recommend changing it. Pocket IE was downright broken when trying to view the full versions of these websites after the key was changed.
Instead, I recommend hunting around for Picsel Browser, which is a far better solution for viewing fullsized webpages on a small screen. I'm pretty sure it was posted here somewhere so you can brush up on your searching skills and find it.
An even better browser for these things would be Thunderhawk. Thunderhawk is not free, but there is no question that it is the best.

Whats weird is now that I can go to the website, I can't use the FlashVideo Plugin for TCPMP to play videos off youtube. I had it working and now neither my treo or my 8525 work. Its so odd, anyone else have this?

it stinks... I also get the mobile versions for like espn and cnn.com

it is discussed in many other subforums and all say the same: keep a way...

Its great as said by Brigthand, but, I hate the part where it says that 'it uses web server to capture the image of the whole web page and then sends it back to the device'. This is a great threat to our privacy who use devices to input credit card numbers; online banking etc.

Opera Mini does the same thing, so who cares? Just don't surf illegaly on your phone and you're good. Illegal stuff is usually too demanding for phones anyway...

I don't know why... but I guess I would trust Opera more then the creator of Skyfire. The data goes through a proxy in both which makes it much faster, same thing happens on the sidekicks.

hey I just got my skyfire invitation last night installed and started playing with it even checked some adult websites figured out that it does open all kinds of video but today avery time I try opening it it says lost network conection try again later just doesnt work wondering hat happened

The public beta is out now. I can't get it to work w/ the T-Zones proxy hack which is a bummer, it works over wifi tho. Pretty good so far, it plays youtube videos straight from the site.

Hey skyfire runs good on my wing I have windows 6.1 OTPV6 and I just loaded version 0.85.0.7927 from the first forums page under development & hacking. Youtube looks good and runs smooth thats running wifi , but I did notice it takes lots of battery power

Now don't most US carriers do the same thing anyway?? But like another users stated, If you’re not doing anything illegal on it, you’re good to use it. I've been using it on the old ATT Wireless (mMode) network and by that network being mainly WSP with limited Http support. Skyfire is wonderful. I have been using Opera mini and Mobile to get things done completely through http but still hitting brick walls with some sites.
With skyfire, the only wall I've come to thus far is openview... site with its certificate needing to be installed/accepted. Looking for a solution on that now. Other than that is GREAT for me and my $25 true unlimited data plan.

I like skyfire. iv been using it for a while now. it is alittle buggy but i think its worth it. It loads web pages pretty fast without wifi and with wifi enabled its really fast for a mobile browser. i just think the scrolling and the zooming function could be way better.I know that skyfire reqires your phone number to work but if your interested in trying then try this download i have below. its an older beta version, (my first 1 actuallyfrom about a year ago lol) this version may only work with wi fi enabled. Just extract, then drag the folder anywhere on your pocket pc. let me know how this works for u guys.

skyfire and opera are completely different to me skyfire has flash settings for ANY WEBSITe includin for the lonely people xD and i dont think opera has flash settings like skyfire but i hate skyfire load up screen but you need a connection i use wi fi so that a con on opera

i have been using skyfire for three days now and it works flawless. as to the privacy issue, just dont go to places you would put vital info and just browse other sites for fun and distraction. i have been able to go to all my favorite sites. all worked wonderfull.

I asked this in another thread last week, but noone answered.
I'm using my mobile phone HTC HD2 since 2 weeks.
I'm searching a webbrowser which is able to play flash streams.
I used Opera 10... it didn't work
I tried Opera 9.5 with this fix of another thread... it didn't work
And for a few days I tried Skyfire 1.5x and the stream beginns to load, but all sites are loading very, very slowly. The other browser are loading faster.
By the way... the stream loads, but just 47% and then it's over... :'-(
Now my question:
Is there a webbrowser which is able to play flash streams?
What is the problem of Skyfire??

Skyfire and Xperia

Can someone come up with a fix to use skyfire on Xperia??
The problem is the skyfire only works with QVGA resolutions (so 2003), is there somethign like WVGA fix that tricks the screen into QVGA? I know this is totally against the reason for the Xperia, but I need a website (flash) that plays sound, so I don't care about graphics.

Is it possible to get it to display the pages in the full WVGA resolution and not just QWVGA?

Yes it is. Download the newest version. On the official website they offer version for WM 5+6 Touchscreen. If you install it on X1 it shows full screen!
Supported resolutions (pixels)
240x240 320x320 320x240 (QVGA) 400x240 (WQVGA)
640x480 (VGA) 800x480 (WVGA)

Got the latest version .. and it does not run in full resolution.

I´ve installed it 3 days ago and it worked in wvga.
Be carefull - it doesnt work with wifi, it connects to gprs/3g even if you got a wifi connection.

Nonsense, I am using it with wifi right now (of course someone should check to either disable the 3g/gprs account or wifi to have a higher priority). Only problem is the low resolution of pictures their server is sending (their servers sends to you pictures the rendering never happens on the phone). Especially text is very garbled.

I downloaded the newest version and its pretty crap. It seems like they took the wqvga and just make 1 pixel take up 4 spaces to make wvga.

Skyfire is the best in video streaming around all xperia browser

I wonder .. if they send full screen pictures of the pages .. full WVGA should increase the traffic 4 times (a bit less because of compression I guess). That could be the showstopper for high-res devices.
Have someone seen some comparison with Opera mini, concerning transferred data amount ?

Youtube - Yes. The other site you mentioned I don't know.
But this browser almost does everything! And really fast!
Just download it, it's freeware!

If you are on a SkyFire UK Datacenter then you can access the BBC iPlayer, but to get on the UK Datacenter you will need to be in the UK.

actually, i was messing around with iris browser when it prompted me to update so i did, this browser is actually better than skyfire..try it, it plays utube vids in the browser like skyfire and tho no speedy gonzalez its quite good.

the text is blocky, and the sound on videos doesn't work.

Skyfire is my backup browser to Opera. When Opera doesn't work on those flash websites, Skyfire usually could handle it. The biggest problem is that Skyfire drains your battery like crazy...especially for those websites with flash. Anyway, I am still keeping it in my xperia just in case.

Why isn't anyone adding Skyfire as the default browser on any of these ROMS? Just asking. I've heard great things about Skyfire but I'm guessing you guys must know something that I don't. I'm sure there has to be a reason. Would it work with the Push Internet function on Rhodium?

When I had my smartphone I used skyfire all the time, but when I started using HTC devices skyfire just looked crappy to be honest. Its pretty low resolution and opera looks soo much better.

Opera doesn't support flash, but you can stream off it. I have Coreplayer so when I click on a video off a website like youtube. Coreplayer would open up and play the video. Unlike Skyfire it would open right from the site and play.

I have a different problem, ive had my TP2 for 2 days now and flashed my first ever rom onto a phone just last night (thanks to the great walkthrough on this site)
So I went to put skyfire on my phone but when I go to the skyfire site on my phone it tells me it's not compatible with my phone? I don't think I'm doing something right. I downloaded the skyfire software to my computer, same with google maps, and I guess I just dont know how to add applications to my phone. I couldn't find a walkthrough on how to add apps through any faq or with the search function (including google searching lol)
I apologize for being such a noob but can anyone help? I imagine adding an app should be as simple as clicking dragging and setting up but I guess I'm just not technologically smart enough to grasp this. Any help would be appreciated!

make sure that you are installing the cab file. If I remember correctly, you can download a pc installer and a cab file. the cab file is what you install on the phone. I use skyfire all the time even though it looks terrible on my beautiful TP2 screen.

Opera does support flash. Search for fixOperaFlash on xda, and you'll find it The only thing opera doesn't support = Silverlight, which skyfire does

hmm... Silverlight's great and all, but I see it being used more for interactive applications than passive media. I thought that skyfire wasn't being built for games?

roms not having manila folder
about everyone adding opera as default browser having it embedded in the rom is a bit of a pain. it seems that a lot of them are removing the manila folder out from application data folder and also removing the internetportal.xml file. that file was able to be edited and have you launch whatever browser you wanted from the internet tab in touchflo3d. only rom i have found that still has this folder and file is Romeos rom v1.04 which is available to download. u can then go here http://www.fuzemobility.com/how-to-change-the-tf3d-default-browser/ and make skyfire your default. works with romeo rom

Not only does it display poorly on newer WVGA devices, Skyfire is not ready for daily use
I was using it yesterday after a fully charged battery and in 2 hrs my battery needed to be charged again

skyfire is kinda low res and isn't as appealing on a wvga screen.

Opera runs smoother than Skyfire, Stick with Opera.

A short time back Skyfire did come out with a version that greatly improves the resolution on VGA and WVGA devices.
Skyfire uses a proxy server. So your data all travels to and from someone elses storage. There is the potential of them collecting personal info on you. Not that I'm paranoid, but it is a good reason for a manufacturer not to build it into a device.
Skyfire tends (IMHO) to not handle a lot of different web sites. I have more issues with it then Opera.
But I keep it installed in case I want to visit a flash enabled site.

It looks ugly and it doesn't use the zoom bar.
Wait, so it supports silverlight? Does that mean I can watch netflix on my phone?

Skyfire 1.5 is nicer to look at and will allow you flash on over 90% of the internet sites.

if it worked with games i would be all over it, otherwise my broswer of choice is opera mini.
i've noticed most flash content on websites are in the form of advertisement anyway lol

This is the latest and greatest skyfire for tp2.. its a close 2nd to opera.. looks nice now and loads quicker.. Enjoy!

Mobiola Web Cam (paid app) is what I used to use, but now I've started using QIK on my phone...it streams live vid from the phone to your account's webpage, which can be publicly visible, or only available to people you authorize to have access. It also archives the vids there once they're streamed.

I assume it'd work, I know it worked on GPRS in the past (on an older WM6 device). I haven't tried it with the TP2 yet, but I assume it works on any internet connection (3g, wifi).

The only thing I found, is a program called "Qik". Google it. This lets you stream live video from your cell phone to their site. They do give you the code to paste into you website. I have been using it for about a month and had no problems. Hope this helps.

didint work with 3g on my tp2.. only works with active sync, or wifi..

Qik looks nice, i am going to try this out !
Looks like it is eating much data, so i have to watch out.

QIK works great for my ATT Tilt 2. There is something called Tinycam. It is pretty cool. Not sure if it is what you are looking for but I think it will do the job.

Mobiola or QIK? Mobiola works over BT, wifi, USB, not 3g. QIK works on 3G as well, I use it all over town
