Hi,
As the title thread suggests, I am no longer recieving sound or vibration notifications for SMS or emails. I do not recall changing anything recently to cause this issue as I am now (was) happy with my setup etc.
I am on the 1.43 WWE O2 Rom, with SMS, Camera and SD card updates.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
P.S. I did search the forum, and yielded no useful information.
First hing I would suggest is to check you sound settings, if you've changed your ringtone volume for example this can also change your sms alert volume. Also check the settings for your message notification in you settings menu. Other than that it might be a software problem, in which case I'm no use to you.
Thanks for the response. One thing I have noticed is that I am using G-Profile to manage my system and ring volume in different environments (work and home for example). When using the volume rocker, the volumes adhere to the G-profile settings, however now for some reason, within settings, a different configuration is revealed...
UPDATE: Uninstalled G-profile and Windows settings adhere to volume set by volume rocker, but still no sound or vibration when recieving messages. Just to confirm, all is fine when recieving voices calls.

Sorry, I've not used G-profile so can't help. I'm sure someone else on here will be able to help you more
Any body else experiencing this issue? I dont want to have to hard reset.
Thanks.
HI,
I have found the issue to my stated problem. For some reason the HTC Sense "alert" sounds and vibrations are not playing. If I go into Manila and set it up using an old WM message tone, it works fine.
Any idea why my message alerts would become corrupted?

Hi,
I am using the latest O2 ROM with the latest Vodafone ExtROM, which works fine, APART from when I use PhoneAlarm.
The default setting for notifications of SMS messages is no audio alert, no vibration, no LED, just yes to display message. Is there anyway of changing this, I've searched the registry and can't find it.
Before I installed PhoneAlarm, I could change the alert to play "notify.wav" for a text, and it worked fine... After I installed PhoneAlarm, I've gone into the profile settings, and the default for SMS Alert was "<SYSTEM>" which is muted like detailed above. I've changed all the profiles so that it's set to "notify.wav", saved it, but it still mutes the settings like above.
This worked fine on the T-Mobile ROM, is there anyway to fix it? As the T-Mobile ROM is SLOOOOOOOOOOOW.
Cheers guys (and ladies)
-Dave.
Looks like it's nowt to do with the ROM, just downgraded to the T-Mobile one, and up to the iMate one.
Whatever I set the SMS tone to in the profiles section of PhoneAlarm, I then go to the notifications tab in Settings, and the SMS Text Notification is muted. :-/
I have the trial version of PhoneAlarm, but don't think that's owt to do with it; not going to risk paying for the full version if it's gonna do this :-/
Anyone any ides please? :-/
Regards.

I have the registered version of phone alarm and my sounds¬ifications in settings are different to what i have set in the phonealarms profile settings screen.
Best thing to do is set your sms sound in phonealarm and save settings. switch to another profile then back to the one you have just changed. and send yourself a text.
It should sound as you have it set in PA rather than the settings you have in settings\sounds¬ifications. I dont think you should go into the S&N settings as PA takes over from them the next time you switch profiles. Just make sure you have stated a sound to play rather than using <system>.
Hope this helps.
I was wondering if there was any way of allowing voice command to still voice the notifications from the calander while the phone is on vibrate...
I dont want to have to switch a bunch of things in the phone when i walk into work to get it to work correctly... I also have htc home - schen 2.10 and would like to be able to actively switch through there for the different sound options...
is there a reg value that i can edit? or something with the htc home that i can setup to just vibrate under the last option in the menu to my custom settings to set to just vibrate and stop sounds and notifications but allow the voice command come through without issues?
Thanks,
Dan
You can use a "silent" ringtone and set the phone to ring & vibrate. There is one around called silent.wav -- you can probably find it if you search for it.
that will solve one of my problems, but what about silencing the notifications for text messages... i want everything to vibrate but the voiced reminders....
uhm maybe use the same wav file for notifications too?
notifications can play a sound and vibrate at the same time?
Check out settings>personal>sounds & notifications>notifications. The event option is a dropscreen and you can pick the different things to configure.
Cheers...
brilliant... i was looking for this before but had a blonde moment appearantly...
now, is there any way to setup the sound settings in the htc home to revert to different ringer settings with the 4th option on the page? so at work i could have it work as one setting, and outside i can select the first and i can have it revert to ring and everything as normal?
i would like to custom set the different profiles...
Problem is windows mobile doesn't have more than 3 profiles. If you want more your going to have to install a 3rd party program.
Hi guys
I wondered how I was missing all the texts my mates were sending me and then I found that when I get a text the sound is not working for some reason.
I've checked the sounds are there and working - it's set to "Rooster" sound which is fine (have tried others too) and the volume is turned up (ringtones work fine) but it still won't make sound when a text comes in.
I've done a soft reset etc but still not fixed it. Is there some other setting it could be?
Everything I can think of is right but there must be some other reason why there is no noise when I receive a text.
Any ideas please?! Thanks
try settings / sounds and notifications / enable sounds .... check if the box for events is ticked and the notifications too...
hope this helps
Notifications was switched on as that's what controls the sound settings for texts/MMS/email etc, but Events shouldn't need to be on and I don't normally have it enabled.
Cheers for the suggestion and I've turned it on anyway just in case but I don't think it's that.
Disable the New SMS notification option on "Sounds and notifications", then reset your device, after you reset try to go and enable the new sms notification again ! then try and see if iti works !
i had the same problem with my HD 1.14 with arabic poackage rom, I flash it with 1.19 and the problem didnt go till I made the disable-reset-enable !

Thanks folks - have tried/checked both those options and no result yet.
What is the ringtone you have selected ? Make sure that the file for the selected ringtone is available under the Windows folder.
By trial and error, I found that SMS ringtones are picked up from Windows folder only, whereas all the other tones (incoming call, reminder etc) are picked up from Windows/Rings or My Documents/My Ringtones folders.
Hope this helps .....
Cheers !!
For some reason, I did another reset and it seems to have cured it. Weird!!
Thanks very much for the help guys.
Right,
It seems that sometimes I am getting problems with my sound notifications. Basically the SMS or Email notification sometimes works fine, like normal. Then other times, I get a SMS or Email come through on my HD2, but the sound notification doesn't go off? I don't have the phone on silent, nor vibrate. So I Have to reset the HD2 in order for the notifications to work again.
Anyone else coming across this problem? If so, how did you get "around" it?
Cheers.
Bump.......

Have you changed the manila language?
No, I can only understand English, so wouldn't have changed the language settings in Manila.
Go to:
Settings>All settings>Sounds & Notifications>Notification Tab.
And see what you can do with all those settings there,it took me some time to customize them all to my liking,it is working very well now.

All the same settings since I set the phone up from new (about 2 weeks ago).
Dunno what it is, but I can remember I used to have the same problem on my HTC Kaiser (aka : MDA Vario III)
Grr..
Do you use the 3.5mm jack often? (ie. headphones, speakers, etc. for listening to music/movies) If so, when you unplug them from your phone, your sound settings will automatically turn off/slient. Not necessarily silent or vibrate mode, just off/lowest volume setting. This has been happening to me since day one even with custom ROM. Don't know how else to fix it. I just always change the volume settings right after I unplug.

I've found that since upgrading to the most recent T-Mobile ROM on the website, when I get a text or email the phone will play all of the message or email alert, even if I open the text or email, it continues! Very annoying.
I'm currently having some issues with vibrating alerts for when i receive a new text message. I've googled it and found a suggestion somewhere that downloading Sound Manager from the marketplace would fix it, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Is this an issue with the ROM i'm using or is this a known issue with android that hasn't been fixed, i'm certain it isn't a hardware issue because if i hold the volume down to go into silent it vibrates.
Cheers
have you try messaging and then settings and then notification setting in there you
are going to find vibrate settings
