Hello everybody,
I've created this thread to write what is the battery usage of my HD2 during the 24 hours of a day.
I've fully charged it and disconnected at 22:45 of 17 January.
At 00:00 (18 January) - the device fully backups (Sprite Backup) with 2 soft-reset - usage: 100%
At 00:10 (18 January) - the device backups My Documents with PIM Backup - usage: 98%
At 10:00 (18 January) - with 1 SMS received in the morning - usage: 90%
At 12:00 (18 January) - usage: 88%
At 13:20 (18 January) - autoupdate of Weather and Twitter (about 1 minute of Internet connection) - usage: 87%
At 16:10 (18 January) - sent 1 SMS - usage: 85%
At 16:56 (18 January) - 1 outgoing call (3mins 31seconds) - usage 82%
At 18:30 (18 January) - 3 outgoing call via bluetooth (21 mins 22 seconds) - usage 74%
At 23:27 (18 January) - usage 68%
At 11:00 (19 January) - after 3 softreset, Weather and Twitter Update, full backup with Sprite Backup and My Documents backup with PIM Backup - usage 50%
At 09:30 (20 January) - after 3 softreset, Weather and Twitter Update, full backup with Sprite Backup and My Documents backup with PIM Backup, 3 calls (3minutes) - usage 20%
At 19:00 (20 January) - after 1 call (20 minutes) via Bluetooth - usage 4%
The device is in stand-by if not differently specified.

Hello,
sorry, you are right.
The device is in STANDBY mode.
Hello guys,
what is the battery consumption in stand-by mode?
Normal, low, high?
Someone can post his/her experience?
11:00 AM update
You might want to look over your AM/PM at the beginning so that it doesn't confuse people. You disconnect your phone at 10:45pm and did your first backup at 12:00pm? Don't you mean 12:00am/midnight?..and wouldnt that be the 18th and not the 17th?

You're Right!
Normally I use the 24 hours notation, LOL.
I've updated the thread with the date.
Thanks for telling me that!

No problem, I was scratching my head...trying to make sense of what you wrote before
50% per 24hr is decent considering that you're a really light user.
As for me, in 24hr, I make about 2hrs of phone call, receive maybe 5 texts, 30min of total surfing...comes out to around 30-35%.
there's already a battery life thread that could really use your usage log for reference. Just thought I'd let you know.
To be honest, I use my HD2 a lot , but I've created a thread to log battery usage for a phone in stand-by with very little usage.
The battery consumption in usage like yours for me is the same (and is acceptable, too).
Thanks for telling me the usage for your device!
I get kind of the same usage. Medium use = 1.5 days, Heavy use = one day.

Yes, true.
Now I'm at 47% (14:48 19 January) standy-by mode.
My phone is still alive, with 20% of battery at 09:30 (20 january), after 2 days and 10hours!
Last update
2 days 18 hours of standy with very little usage!
WOW!

Yes, true. I usually use it very much (I use wireless at home) or 3G outdoor for e-mail.
When I'm outdoor for work, I use Gmaps or TomTom and Metro to locate places in big cities.
This was a test to try the standby (at least this was my attempt) time of the device.
I'm happy, because my TyTN II's battery lasts the same.

Hi guys ,just to make sure about my battery on jade, issit normal having a 2 bar left at around 0930pm after a full charge on yesterday at around 12 noon?
What I mean is :
Last full charge:
12:03pm May 11 2009
Today May 12 is:
17% left(using ariel battery)
which is 2 bar/10 bar battery...
Since last full charge is:
Standby time:28.7hour
Talk time:8 minutes
Device usage:
5hour 35 mins...
I usually play games
Listen to music around 1 hr....
Ok, first of all, even if the topic is VERY important for you, there is no need for a DOUBLE POSTING. This will annoy others, and is not helpfull for the overview of the forum.
Now to your concern:
Did you check this thread? And check out GProfile as well.
Finally, I can only say that with my device the battery management got better with the ROM UPDATE of 14th of April 2009. Do you have this already?
Finally, consider that during playing 5,5hrs the screen is lighted all the time...

I think that is pretty impressive, not something to complain about. My last phone would have lasted half that.
When I first had mine I had unique switched on that searches and connects to wifi signals. My battery lasted just over a day.
However once I switched this off the battery lasts for ages. A full charge will still be showing full at the same time the next day and with low use will last around 4 days.
Go to your setting, communications manager and make sure unique is off and see if this helps. If you connect to wifi make sure you switch it off again afterwards.
Come on guys, this is a smartphone. Some people dont use all features, so the battery lasts longer. I got gmail with 10min interval setup and hotmail with delivery on arrival, so in my case just the data-connection kills the battery in one day.
I dont think there is a possibility to give a certain advice of how the battery shall last longer... As each one of us is using this device on his own way...
What kills be battery:
1. WiFi
2. 3G
3. Screenlight on (playing on the device)
4. etc etc

It seems, 5 hours 35 min dev usage within 28 hours stand by duration performance is quite good.

Guys,
just bought my X1i last week. One of the my reason to buy this phone, because some "people" said that the battery can last up to 4 days on regular use.
So I'm just curious about how long does your X1 battery last. Mine, it can barely last 2 days, most of the time, I have to charge it everyday, so I can use the phone for the next day.
Please post your answers below and also mention the rom you used at this moment. Just want to know, if there is any correlation between versions of rom used and battery life. I used stock generic UK R3A.
Also if anyone knows how to save your X1 battery, please also post it below...
Thanx and regards,
liemivan
i have touchx 10.2 and if i dont use internet just normal stuff it last 5 days... if i start using wifi/edge about 2 days...
I'm havin the same problem. Battery just lasts one day. I turn off the internet by turning off the data connection switch in com manager but still no dice. Is there a battery checker to see if u have a bad battery?
I used to charge my X1 every day, at least every second (when I didn't use it that much).
But since I did the Biotouch.exe trick, I'm able to run about 3-4 days with "normal" usage (most time online, permanent checking mails, etc).
Just search for the thread Biotuch.exe. It's about 3 pages back.
R3, 5 days in standby @ home, using it to call during about 10' per day. Otherwise @ work (phone 20 - 30' per day, and 15 - 20' surfing on the web by UMTS) 3 days then I charge it as I am at 20 percent.
Beware of the UMTS coverage, if the coverage is not excellent, you'll use your battery very quick (so if no 3G used, set is as GSM instead of Auto in Phone - Settings - Band).
Pay attention to the software you install, it can change from 3 days to a simple day if the software is not optimized (for example it's a nightmare with SPB Mobile Shell 3).

I don't know really. Take yesterday for example:
I unplugged it from the charger in 9:00 then after 5 calls, 30 mins of music playback, 15 mins of wi-fi and 15 mins of playing games the battery was dead in 15:00 . That's only 6 hours......
I don't care anymore though. I bought a second battery and I'm happy again .
My battery lasts about 5 or 6 hours, simply had to buy a second charger and keep at work. Would leave home around 5:30 a.m. fully charged. Bluetooth is always on from then to about maybe 8a.m. or 9a.m. Listeing to audio podcasts or audio books. Screen at full brightness, always have the 3G connection on. Couple hundred text msgs to go through, along with clicking on links as needed to go to the websites linked in them. And SkyFire to read the Wall Street Journal for maybe 30 mins.
X1am, ROM: 1.02.948.8 with a date of 09/17/08.
about 2 - 3 days depending on use (more calls on some days lowers battery alot)
My power Xperiences so far
Overall the power consumption and power mgmt of the Xperia is quite bad, having been an XDA user for years.
The power button puts the phone into standby, so some apps keep running and drain the battery, when you think it is not consuming. Eg GPS.
Last week my phone would drain within one day, even on standby. I checked for any running apps and I had Closed All, but drain continued a second day after full recharge.
The only way to get it back to some level of normaility was to do a Soft Reset. This must have stopped the culprit process which was draining power ???
When the power drains to its lowest level, it puts the phone into a virtual dead state. It requires some time charging before it even powers up again. This is not an elegant way to power manage.
Wow... judging from the answers here, it is very strange to see how the battery life can be very differ from one to another. One can only last for 5 to 6 hours, while others can last for up to 3 to 5 days.

I guess it is because of if you used all your battery power, you will also drain the backup battery (you can check the backup battery status by using the apps "batty"), so it will take a while to charge the backup battery first before charging the main battery. This is only a guess...
What Backup Battery??? The thing that shows up in Batti is for phone with a backup battery I guess... but NOT for the X1. There is no such thing that can show up in Batti. On mine it shows just an empty bar.

why would i have it on when my operator doesnt even support 3g course it was off no data connection also... my battery goes down 10-20% a day when i just use it for music and some sms...
Mine lasts about ~6 hours talk time at 3G.
~3-4 Days when i use talk ~30 minutes / day.
Only lasted a few hours with the original Rom.
Flashed to Smabergs Touch X 10.0, battery lasted ~1 day, and then with 10.1 it got improved to 3-4 days.
Which is enough. Thank you Smaberg!
My battery last from 9AM to uhm 3PM yes that's for 6 hours of use (I have SPB Mobile 3.0.1 running and WCX ROM Windows 6.5). RAM running from 60-95% of usage LOLOLOL but yeah I have my FB, Skype, Windows Media, MSN, etc. running and it runs SUPER slow at times that I have to take the batt out.
I'm gonna flash the ROM again to a battery friendly ROM if available (the way I'm using it right now is not very economy friendly).

That is only 1 persons review though and a few people have posted in that thread that they are experiencing worse battery life. It would be good if other uses could post their info rather than just saying "I can't get the same battery life as xmoo" so we can look and compare.
^correct...
but battery life depends on a lot of things...
1. phone usage
2. phone settings
3. network
4. data connection
also you need to know how to handle a Li-Ion-Battery....you need at least 10 cycles of extended charging to get the battery in its best possible shape. Then you go from there...
I think its really hard to really know how long YOUR battery is going to last.
Hei all of you
It seems that the legend has been released to some people, and i was wondering what you guys get out of the battery.
I am currently on a Diamond 2, with 1100 Mha battery, and currently get 1½ day out of this, and i want this to be an improvement. The legend, with 1300Mha, OLED screen and newer cpu, sounds like it will be a lot better, but some review mentions the battery life to be really bad.
I am using my phone for 20 text messages, psuh mail, no phone calls and only visit a few websites on 3G. No bluetooth, wifi or GPS. What can i expect of this?
i'm sorry if my English is not good enough,
but i've the HTC legend since Friday, and Saturday i did a simple test, i put the mobile phone to charge Friday night, Saturday about 12:00 pm i disconnected the charger and i've turned the wi-fi, gps,and bluetolth off, only the 3G network was on.
I had also ebuddy running on the background, after 4 hours i didn't touched the phone, and my battery was about the 25%
And the full charge time was almost 2 hours.... i went back to the shop where i bought the phone, they changed my battery and the did a hard reset.
The battery performance is now a little bit better, but it has not the same performance as the iphone 3gs.

I think the first time you run your phone it will consume the most power. So it's not the right time to test. I suggest you fully charge and fully consume the battery 2-3 times and then put it for a test.
Full capacity of a battery shows up after 2 months.
You will pass from 1 day to 3 days
So here is one short statistic after second charging.
14% of energy left in the battery after:
39 hours since last charging
2 hours of display on (35% of energy)
37 hours of phone connected to the cell (36% of energy)
13 minutes of calls (13% of energy)
Phone used for me "as normal" - cca. 10 SMS, 2 hours of mp3 and FM radio, one hour of net surfing, running sync with Gmail and Google Calendar.
Yes, it is period of 1-3 months to get full capacity of the battery, but in first few usage, you can fully charge and discharge battery.
I have a one day of full usage of the phone (wifi always on, twitter, e-mails, calls etc.)
Getting better
It's getting slowly better with each charging, second week and I'm on two days. Everyone is using it in a different manner, but my battery improved for about a 70%.
got the legend now for 2 weeks and loving it.
Battery life is good, don't expect to go 2 days intensive use without recharge but no phone with these function have this.
I can easily go with one to two day with occasional wifi, gps use and keep 3g or sync on settled on 1 hour intervals while playing some games using apps etc
Blue tooth i haven;t tried but like any phone the power munchers are wifi, blue tooth gps and 3g.
wifi should save lots of power compared to network operator connection
i use wifi at office, and with extensive usage, i can get about 8 hours straight, that is pretty heavy, the screen barely got to sleep
I have tested the battery in plain sleep.
If the device has wifi off and mobile data off (and no sync, ofcourse) i guess it lasts for a week - 10 days. But then you cant use wifi or mobile data.
If you only let it be in stand-by (screen locked and off, no data or wifi or gps or bt) it last quite long, probably close to the stated 300-400 hours in the manual.
In real life that translates to 3-5% battery drain (tested by me for 24h, only sent 2 sms and talked on phone for 2 minutes) per day.
But in normal use, wifi will drain 5-10% battery per hour and 3g/gprs with autosync drains 2-5% per hour depending on net.
No device lasts for more then a day or two if you acctualy use the device.
I have had my Legend for a week and a half now and the battery life is also getting better with each passing day. I can easily use it for a day and a half with quite a lot of WiFi browsing, and up to 30 or 40 minutes of call time. I'm really loving this phone!

Hi fellow Legenders,
i've had the phone for 4 days now. i am having issues with my battery. I have noted some points that i'll share & hopefully find a resolution for my dismal batt life. I have bluettoh on all the time, but it shows very little drain based on BT alone. Other than that, this phone ROCKS!
After full 8hr charge, the phone lasted approx. 13hrs 38mins before reaching critical level with the following findings:
On 08 April 2010
1. Voice calls used 50% batt – 36mins 11s call time.
2. Display on approx. 30% brightness used 21% batt – on for 1hr 10mins 15s
3. Cell standby on 3G used 16% batt – on for 13hrs 38mins (no signal 1%)
4. Phone idle used 8% - on for 12hrs 28mins
5. Bluetooth used 5% - on for 13hrs 28mins
After normal charge till batt 100% (about 3hrs), the phone lasted 15hrs 12mins 41s before reaching critical level
On 9th April 2010
1. Cell standby on 2G used 50% - on for 15hrs 12mins 41s (no signal 3%)
2. Display on aprrox 30% brightness used 18% - on for 29mins 35s
3. Phone idle used 15% batt – on for 14hrs 43mins 5s
4. Voice calls used 10% batt – on for 4mins 14s
5. Bluetooth used 7% - on for 15hrs 12mins 41s
Looking forward to better batt life as the days go by.
cheers,
Su
Very poor battery life for me.It has 7-8 hours stand-by.
1.Every 5 mins e-mail control.
2.Weather with auto update.
3.Friend stream.
4.Background data and auto sync.
5.Enable always-on mobile data
6.3G
I don't understand whats going on.If i left device when i go sleep with full battery after 7-8 hours i look it.It shows me only left %35 battery.
After disable all auto-uptade and 3g its over 1 days.
My hd2 had 1230 mah battery and super big screen and 1ghz processor. It was using %10 with same usage.
Legend has 1300 mah battery and small screen and 600 mhz processor. It uses %65.
Can anyone explain this sucks status?
I m using the legend... and a hd2 as my other device. would say the battery life for the legend is really dismal...

I am happy to report that my phone batt life has improved tremendously since my last charge. I installed OS monitor & checked to see what might be hogging the batt, & discovered some program was keeping my CPU running inthe high 70's & above continuously. I killed that program, fully charged my phone till 100%, restarted the phone for good measure, & with BT on permanently, more than an hour of wifi usage, about half an hour of phone calls & about 30 smses, after 24hrs, i still had about 24% batt left.
So it has definitely improved by leaps. Hope that helps others who have similar problems.
cheers,
Su
it will be good if you can share what's causing the high cpu usage ...
Oh sorry i forgot. it was OpenWatch for BT watches. It has a problem currently with HTC Legend & SE MBW-150. It doesn't have the full functionality as yet for some reason. The reason it ran the CPU load up, was because i had turned off my watch by accident & set the program to search & connect to the watch. My folly really.
cheers,
Su

Nice battery time
I've bought and charged my phone last Thursday. GSM only, using WIFI every day for 15-20 minutes, 10-15 min talk, and it's still at 35-40% after 5 days. I've got a magic battery or what?

I can't believe this . I wanna just 24 hours stand-by.I hate to charge it everyday two times.
I had my phone charged last night and it died before i woke up in the morning. Now i just finished my charge almost 1 hour and 20 minutes ago, and its already 90 percent. And i have nothing but gtalk running, and a fresh install. Is this possible its a battery problem?
Did you check your battery use in the settings menu under phone status? It breaks down what used all your charge. If you already hooked it up and charged it full, it might be too late to tell since it wipes the last charge's results off.
Keep an eye on that and see if there is something in that list killing your battery more than normal. If everything in there looks ok, it's possible your battery is bad.
1hour 40 min since uplugged
Display 43% 8min
Cell Standby 28% 1h 38min
Phone Idle 19% 1h 30min

That seems normal.
Maybe you have the problem where an SMS is received and the screen stay on? Some people were reporting that problem in another thread. That would definitely kill your battery if you received a message sometime during the night.
I'm at:
Display: 52% 37min
Cell Standby 15% 3hr
Beautiful Widgets 13%
Phone Idle 13% 2hr20min
Bah that sucks, is there a fix for that sms thing? I havent seem it once yet. So basically 10 percent in 2 hours of no use is normal? I thought this phone could be on idle for days. eh.

Sorry, I missed the part where you stated the battery is at 89%...
My phone, on the first charge, lasted 28 hours with moderate to heavy usage. It should last a lot longer if it's just in standby.
Do you think i should go tomorrow to get my battery replaced?

How long have you had your phone? I'd give it a few days of fully charging/discharging to break in the battery and go from there. But the phone should definitely last you at least all day with moderate use.
I have had it since the night of the 18th. Well i mean i can try that, but it feels like its not the case. I dont know... bah
Display 57%
Cell Standby 14%
Phone Idle 9%
Voice Calls 8%
Camera 5%
Android System 3%
Android OS 2%
Of course it doesn't talk about the 30minutes of Wifi, the 30 or so minutes of watching some videos. Nor does it address surfing the net for around 60minutes and various emails through out the day.
Uptime 17:26:38
Battery 32%
Last night around this same time I had around 20%.
So it does seem to be improving a bit. Of course I wont know until tomorrow's usage.
I unplugged it around 6am and now its 11:37pm. So its lasting as long as I have so far. When I hit the sack I'll plug it in and go for it again tomorrow. As long as it has power when I go to bed then we will get a long just fine.

Remove widgets, lower your brightness, turn off GPS, turn off WiFi, set your notifications to a later time, and close unused running programs and see if that helps.
Personally if I'm below 75% and I have access to a charger, I just keep it plugged in to charge.
I had a fresh reinstall last night, and i lost 32 percent battery from 11pm to 10am without using the phone but for maybe 5 text messages.
I dont think this is normal...

+1.... Welcome to the inconsistencies of Android.
- Widgets off
- GPS in the task bar on. It only fires it up when it needs it anyways
- Screen Brightness I don't know I think its set to around 17-25% or so
- I turn off all that haptic feedback nonsense
- 3G off
- Wifi off
- Regular background
- I'm not running exchange or anything fancy that constantly looks for email, good old Gmail.
At least thats what I have my phone set up for. "What do you mean you don't have 3G on. Edge is so slow" Yeah its so useful when your phone is laying there doing nothing.
Same i have all that crap turned off. But i get bad battery times. Im thinking of returning and getting my battery replaced today. It wont hurt
Install Battery Graph and see how fast your battery drains at certain time intervals. You can probably tell if it's an app or not causing the problem if you see a big drop in a short time interval.
I was having the same issues for the first three day however I spent A LOT of time playing and tweaking as this is my first Andriod... I would unplug it at 6am and by 8am (with little to no use) I was down to about 65% but I was still thinking about replacing it.
I did the GPS Update and it seems to have helped a TON... Dunno what the coloration is (maybe the bad GPS signal was constantly looking and draining the battery) but it seems to really help.
Hope this helps some.
What is the GPS Update? You mean the fix in the Development section?
