Are there ways to do full screen for P-Word and P-Excel?

Are there ways (regestry tweak or 3rd party software) to remove the top and bottom bars when using Word and Excel in Universal to maximize on the real-estate?
I am currently using VJToggleTodayII and it does a wonderful job with the today screen but it does not do the same with Word and Excel.

However, hopefully a new version of VJToggleToday will eventually support this kind of stuff.
I think ButtonMax by PocketMax can do something similar.

VJ, checked Bottonmax, other than not supporting WM5, they don't seem to have the functionality to remove the top+bottom bars either...

ButtocksMax used to have this feature, I'm quite sure. If you check some cached google links, you can see remnants.
But yes, WM5 support is not finalised yet it seems. I'll try to work on mine sometime soonish. I just tried it actually, and it seems to work ok...but certain apps will need special case treatment, (eg contacts tries to resist being forced fullscreen) etc.
FYI, you can try my VJSmallIcons II for fullscreen Programs Launcher.

VJ, I did try VJSmallIcons II some time ago and it was a lovely tool to shrink the program icons all to 1 page. But since 80% of my daily Universal usage is on PIM (through to-day plug in), mails, words and excel, the nicer look of the Small icon page is not as critical...
You mentioned about testing the enhanced version of todaytoggle. Does it work for word and excel that I can just try it out? Thanks.

stanip: I'll give it a go tonight on pocket excel/word. These apps don't work on my phone right now so I can't give a definitive. However, to any would be developers, my quick tests suggest the MS apps are stubborn and don't just need moving and Shell API hacks, but a little more invasive persuasion and also interception of device rotate.
I'll try to work on this at some point, it's a nice app and feature that I use myself, so it'll be worth integrating.

Stanip - just tested: unfortunately my app doesn't seem to work on my current Universal setup, which has pword and pxl installed. My Hermes doesn't have those apps installed. So I can't verify out of the box compatiblity right now.
Let's just say that as and when I can, I will modify this test app and merge with VJToggleToday II. Apologies for the excuses for now

VJ, one more question on this subject. Will your app will work with non-MS softwares like Softmaker office ppc Word & Spreadsheet? If it does, perhaps one new option for ppc users if they really really want extra real-estate on this Universal. Thanks.

Have you tried the FloatMe app? I haven't tried it, but it's out now.
Anyone can make any app fullscreen. Keeping it that way is more complicated. VJFullscreenTSC required specific coding to enable it. It's possible a generic technique can be created to make this possible, but as I said, potentially it can just make your apps look odd and behave in a peculiar fashion - it just depends on how the app has been coded. Eg the Inbox in POutlook behaves badly in some very specific areas, but then, most non MS apps work very well fullscreen.
Stanip - just to be realistic, I can't work on this until at the earliest early next year. I'm working on some apps for release fairly soon first, and then back to R&D on that stuff.

VJ, thanks for pointing me to Floatme. I had given it a try. Nice little utility but it can't be enlarged to cover the top/bottom bars... It just shrink/enlarge within the frame between the top/bottom bars. So it does not solve for the real-estate wastage unfortunately.

Not to Lazarus a dead thread, but I was asked by noobiecantrun6700 whether it was possible to make Word and Excel full screen.
As far as I can tell, there's absolutely no reason why not.
I don't have time to write an app right now, but I quickly tested with VJSihaya [which does not quite fullscreen, natively, in every app], and I can't see any reason why these apps (and indeed, most Microsoft first party apps) cannot be run fullscreen.
I'll try to see if a new app like VJFullscreenTSC can be written for the native Office apps.
Just FYI, these screenshots are in Pooh-QVGA on my HTC Touch. I can't wait until VGA is available across the board, VJSihaya looks a damn sight better in VGA and beyond.

PS It might not be apparent, but those are native screenshots. VJSihaya will remove the soft keys and relocate their functionality to a menu available when clicking the icon (top left of each window). VJToggleToday IV Redux is being used to hide the native start bar (at the top). The start menu continues to be accessible from VJSihaya's icons when it is otherwise hidden.

I had the same problem too. And resetting (of course) loses the changes you were trying to make in Phone Settings.
I am also wondering why I can't apply any TSK - the background always remains blue

I have the same problem but I can open the today screen and it will save the settings. just go to start and pick today. I have been able to make changes and save them this way. So far this is working great. Only this small problem. Good work.

All was working great until I went into contacts. While they all transfered fine if you open one and look at the details they are blank. The picture and all other info does not display. Just a bland screen.

since I'm about to develop WM application, I wanted to get into WM restrictions for C#.
So there the app is - it lets you setup Magnifier (setting timeouts, enabling "features", ..) plus adding/deleting apps in which will be Magnifier disabled.
It was built for QVGA on WM6.5 build 23034 CSY, but it should run on all resolutions.
It needs .NET compact framework!

Just copy it to your device (anywhere) and run the .exe.
It is early beta version, it will probably fail to set some parameters properly (converting from bool to dword is the biggest problem), so when you find something, tell me. Thanks.
Also, some settings (I've done it from registry, I hope I got all options named correctly) might not work as expected, but that must fix MS in WM itself (like Ellipse option).

Enabled - enables/disables whole magnifier
Bilinear -
Elipse - currently buggy when enabled, not sure what it is supposed to do
Show crosshair - shows (or does not) crosshair when opened
Use High Fidelity - when you open magnifier and then try to move it to somewhere else, it still shows the original position, you must wait till it closes to show different place
Resize For High Fidelity -
Crosshair Length - Length of Crosshair
Crosshair Thickness - Thickness of Crosshair
Doubletap Distance - Max distance between taps to open magnifier
Doubletap Time - Maximum time it will wait for "doubletap" to open magnifier
Deactivate Delay - time before it starts disappearing
Fade Duration - Time how long it will take to disappear completely

The free ones are still waiting to investigate.

I guess that some settings might not work (like staying (un)checked) so just tell me (I always write Elipse instead of Ellipse and always search for this mistake half an hour ).

Well.This is great however I have a major issue. No SIP so I can't type anything in. I'm trying this on my Omnia which is 240X400 and the bottom bar is completly covered and I don't have a hard keyboard.

I'm creating new WM theme for myself, you can get them on internet, resize them to 16x16px (PNG) and then name them as <themename>_bubble_flag.png and _bubble_ok.png and _bubble_foo.png if I remember right (I'm not at home at this moment, sorry).

[APP]Location Aware myRadar for Tilt 2

myRadar is a location aware radar application that makes use of Wunderground and Accuweather US webservices to show real-time, animated Radar Images of your local area regardless of where in the US you might be. This application requires myLocation services to function automatically.
Note: the ROM based HTML viewer control that myRadar uses to pull web service data is broken in cooked WM6.5 builds from mid 23xxx up to 28205 (which tested good when I built for Raphael). The problem renders the viewer unable to "go online". No 21xxx ROMs are affected tmk. This includes all shipping WM6.5 builds & derivatives. Hopefully we'll get to the root problem itnf and it won't require a re-flash to correct
The myLocation service installer can be found here.
The program will install to \Program Files\myRadar. A custom png Icon is also located there for those who may wish to install it in Titanium or Manilla.

Already have Radar working. I'll be working on his mortscript for the weather panels itnf. I took a cursory glance a few weeks ago and it's no big deal. I'm hoping to see a lat/long->zipcode myLocation plugin itnf from irus. That will make coding changes a breeze.

Please don't keep it US and WVGA only as your mylocation "awareness" keeps getting better! At least, the non-radar part (radar's US only, isn't it?)!

myRadar is really a customized browser that displays a page from myRadar.html. That HTML file contains the coded wunderground/accuweather info. I can link to any site that can return an animated gif when you give it a lat/long.

When I click on the radar app, I get a banner in the toolbar with the name, but
a blank white screen where the radar app should be?

hmmm... so you don't see the button that says "accuweather" on the top or the green line that says Weather Underground Radar loop on the bottom? That tells me it isn't loading the html page. If you installed to your SD card then that would cause it. myradar.html must be in \program files\myRadar

Sleuth - Same problem with blank white screen and nothing else. Location is perfect in mylocation. I am running EnergyRom 123109 with 2.5 sense interface. Edit - running it in the Titanium interface makes no difference.

I saw accuweather radar images are for Europe, too. As for Vienna, so it's for Trento (Italy). http://www.accuweather.com/en-us/EUR/IT/IT017/Trento/satellite.aspx

Go to my device (not storage card)\program files\myRadar with your favorite file manager. Is there a file named "myRadar.html" there ?(or will have PIE icon if you can't display file extensions) What other files are in this directory?
If myRadar.html is there, tap on it to launch in PIE. What state is shown on the map?
edit: if you don't have a \program files\myRadar directory on your device, then re-download the cab in post 1 and re-install. I just noticed that your initial post occurred just after I posted the fix.

Working on this. Your first URL stopped working for me after a few inquiries (returned page not available error). I'm investigating why this might be.
The one you just gave me doesn't use Lat/Long coordinates so won't work without a regional translator utility which can take Latitude/Longitude and translate to "EUR/IT/IT017" for example. We're working on one that can do this for US Zip codes currently. I'm also working on getting WOEID information into myLocation since this is a worldwide location system as well that seems to be turning into a standard of some sort.

v1.1 is up! Adds gesture support to the landscape display.
@posters with white screens: check to see if this cures the issue. If this doesn't cure the issue, please post links to the Chef's thread for the ROM you are running so I can take a look at it.

That might be it! I'll have to check, the rom I run, has skyfire as the default browser, not PIE

sooo.. did the update not help you? Can you post a link to your Rom's thead? The HTML viewer is loading b/c you get a white screen. I'll throw an error if the control isn't loaded. I'm gonna test on some of my older devices to see if I can reproduce this.
edit. Sorry, tried WM5 original TyTN (unbelievable that myLocation works on this with only font issues on the cpl dialog box), WM6 running on a Tilt, and WM6.5 running on a Fuze. I'm unable to reproduce the blank white screen issue.

[APP][2010/07/02]AppGrouper, a simple catagorised app launcher

I'm a longtime lurker, ever since I got my Touch HD when it first came out and I NEEDED to have an english rom instead of a dutch one. Thanks to this place, my phone runs exactly how I want it to (most of the time ).
Except for a decent app launcher. I HATE the win6/6.1 scrollist ones, allthough the startmenu after that sucked a little less. I liked the yotacenter launcher, but in the end I just ran out of space and had to hit the "all apps" button too often and scroll through a huge list.
So I wrote my own in c# under .net 3.5.
And, seeing as I got all my tweaks and fixes from you guys, I thought I should give something back; in essence a quick and dirty app launcher which does exactly what I want: organise the programs I use the most.
It's a catagory per page, has menu, contextmenu and top-scroll-bar driven UI and you can add your own background:

I wrote it to be as device independant as I knew how, but I've really only tested it on my Touch HD1, so I'm really curious as to how it runs "in the wild" (or even on any other HD ). To save some effort, I've just packaged the .exe, which should run from any location. If it doesn't, \Program Files\AppGrouper\ should do it.
It should come with a default background and an icon...for this initial release [call it a beta] I didn't create a cab, so you'll have to copy/edit an existing .lnk file to get the program to show up in the windows\startmenu\ .lnk files so you can use a launcher to launch my launcher (yeah, I get the irony ), or just start the app from the exe.
Anyway, as I said this is the first application I'm releasing to the public, so please give me some feedback I have no idea what "unknown unknowns" this app'll run into on different machines than my emulator and my own Touch HD. The only deletion the program can do is to a specifically named .xml file it generates itself, so it should be safe enough
PS: as I was entering the tags to this post, I realised that this type of software could have been made and released many times: I've only used MS's launcher and the yotacenter one, so any ideas and/or other similarities to other launchers is coincidence and a case of simultanious devellopment (or in my case, retarded devellopment ). Again, any feedback is appreciated, from bugs to implementation to "you've totally ripped off x!". 'Cause I didn't, but I'd like to know about x

while trying to add an to a folder a drop down menu reveal 3 options - the first one is to add an app, what is the second one? it is blank on my tp2?
after running an app it stays in memory. is this how you designed it? i would prefer if it closed after running an app
finally, can you list here launchers that you came across that are standalone apps, meaning they do not sit in memory or eat CPU. i am looking for something like that with folders/tabs like yours and self-close after use.

thanks for sharing. i have one single question. i have installed it on my herald, but i cannot add more then one app to a group. am i missing something?

As being an anti manila user Until now I was addicted to Program Finder plugin (attached) running on the Today Screen. Unfortunately the Today Screen does not have the SIP toggle in the bottom bar plus sometimes the Today Screen needs a refresh, due to Program Finder being an very old program; its messing up the Today Screen.
Therefore I searched the whole internet and finally after searching for 1 year I found [attachment]ToggleInputPanel.exe[attachment]. I'm executing programs via icons by running Easy Today Launcher.
