Hi My Sprint Mogul has Ryan Moguls Light WM6.1 ver 1.5 light radio 3.42.02 and DCAAXAM-4350H . I like it but the main reason to have this device was to get on the free WiFi at work. It starts up and searches finds it connects then will say unable to connect. Other times it says can't locate page, Same with my home wireless. I just need a reliable WiFi device..
I had the same problem, I solved
I don't know if this can help since I have MetroPCS as carrier and I flashed a Sprint Mogul to make it work.
I had this problem and I couldn't get it work, but researching I knew was related with the internet setting, I couldn't get rid of the HTC_Guardian thing until I switch to Windows XP (I have Windows 7), only then I can setup all the internet & wap part as it should. (Start->Settings->Connections <Connections> in |Task| tab, Select Set up {my proxy server}, Check mark in both and <Advanced>, HTTP, WAP, Secure WAP & Socks for instructions & settings for MetroPCS see: [howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1559514]).
Let me know it that works.
toggle off then toggle on your wlan AFTER it says it can't connect... works like a charm... gonna try remapping a soft key to the wlan toggle..

I have a Mogul with Ryan Moguls Cricket lite 3.1/ radio 3.42.40 and I have the same basic problem. Only occasionally will my Wifi connect or detect my Access point (about 15 feet away). turning WLAN on/off doesnt seem to help. I have used other 6800's in the same environment with wifi working perfectly, so maybe it's a hardware problem. (although I have two 6800's right now with similar symptoms)

Hello...
I had Wifi working perfectly on my MDAIII for a very brief period. But it hasn't worked since!
Only by putting the phone into Bootloader mode and starting from scratch brings it back.
It says that it is connected to my network OK. There is very good signal strength. But it only seems to connect once and never again (Internet Explorer says it can't find the page)
I also can't connect to a Wifi point at my local coffee shop, so I know it's not my equipment.
I have tried fixing the IP address but this doesn't work too.
This is really annoying as that was the main reason for getting the damn phone!
The Wifi unit is a Belkin 54g F5D7630-4A running the latest firmware.
My MDAIII is:
ROM Version: 1.22.00 WWE
ROM Date: 10/22/04
Radio Version: 1.06.00
Protocol Version: 1337.38
ExtROM Version: 1.22.162 WWE
Thank you.
Hi there, I seem to remember a similar problem the first time I tried to connect to my wifi network...
Unfortunately, it not working on a another AP doesn't mean your wifi box is ok, the problem could be with your pda and/or your wifi box.
I'm guessing you've tried going right back to basics? Turn all security on your wifi box off (might want to disconnect any sensitive lan members first!) remove all pda-based wifi settings, get a 'second opinion' machine and fire it all up. If your alternative pc/xda can see the conn, then the problem is in your MDA... Like you needed someone to tell you that!
Assuming your pda sees your wifi box and connects, make sure you tell it to connect to the internet. Then it may be worth checking that your new wifi connection will work if you enable wep (I like running with security on and get twitchy when it's off!) making sure you've copied the key as a txt file to your pda first!
If you can't connect at all, and the second box can, it would seem your device is dead... Sympathies, talk to your supplier...
Hopefully it's not tho! Can you connect to the MDA from within the LAN, maybe even by pinging it? You can get the IP address of your pda by going through start, settings, connections tab, network cards, network adapters tab, wifi adapter (on my XDA that's the 'tiacxwln" one). I have a dhcp server on my network and so use a server-assigned IP address, but either way you'll be able to get the address here. Try to ping it from the second machine. There is a toolkit called VXUtils (http://www.cam.com/windowsce.html) which I find invaluable in all things tcp/ip.
If it's the same problem I had, then all this will work (can connect to local area network) and you will be really frustrated by now! In the end, I seem to remember, it came down to the fact that my pda was set to shared security and the wifi box was set to open... Making sure that they are set to the same authentication method fixed things. After I upgraded roms, I had a similar problem that was resolved by telling it it connected to the work network, soft rebooting, changing that back to internet and soft rebooting again.
HTH, please post any and all results and I'll see if I can help more/at all!
Hi,
My mini s seems to have a problem connecting to my home network. When i switch the wi fi on it searches but does not connect. I hard reset a coyuplke of day ago and switch on the wifi and it found my network then promted to enter key, which i did. The phone then connected no problem. No when i switch wifi on it doesnt connect. I go into network cards tab and look what networks are available and my network is there with available next to it but the options have all change (key be given out auto etc...) so i change them to the correct ones etc.. but still it doesnt connect? What i'm i doing wrong? I has worked in the past but not now. I have not installed and 3rd party software and my router is working fine (laptop downstairs works no problem off network).
any ideas
cheers
hi,
i just reseted my router and renamed my homenetwork and assigned a newwep key. started wifi on mini s and it connected straight away to the my newly named network. switch wifi off then on again and now it wont connect. it see's the network and says its available but wont connect. under the settings the network key has changed. it's defo a problem with the phone cus everything else works fine (laptop, psp). it's just not saving the network info???
and ideas???
cheers
think it could be because i've upgraded to o2 new rom??? Could somebody with the latest UK o2 rom please confirm that ther can connect to the networ?
cheers
This also happens to me with the latest O2 ROM.
What you have to do is to manually connect and perservere by going to Network Cards, tapping the network and then select Connect. It may take a few go's but it will connect eventually.
Report back how you get on.
You may want to set up your router to assign a fixed IP address to the Mini S's MAC address as well.
Sounds like the problem I've been having. I've also got an O2 rom and am having problems connecting to any wifi network, even though it worked fine the first time.
I've tried going to the network cards page and clicking connect, but it hasn't worked so far. talkingbollox - when you say 'eventually', how long are you talking?
I'll also try assigning a fixed ip address later, but my hopes aren't high.

Sometimes 2 attempts, sometimes up to 20.
Persevere!
20! I probably tried about 10 times before I gave up. Surely this is a fault. You shouldn't have to waste so much time just to get a connection! :x
I tried MAC address filtering too but that didn't seem to work.
Do you think this is a O2 ROM problem or a hardware problem? If it's just O2, I think I might try a different ROM. Any suggestions which ROM to use?
My Mini S came already with the latest rom I think, and it works fine with my router (BT Voyager 2110)
Are you guys using the 802.11g reg edit?? Maybe thats why its not working, I actually did the hack before I ever turned on my wifi so I don't know if it worked without it. Try it My wizard connects with my router in G only 8)
Search the forum you will find loads of posts about it, and I think somebody has even made a cab file that does it for you, along with some speed tweeks that make your system faster.
It must have taken me in excess of 40 goes to connect last night.
Yes, I am using the g mode hack. My Voyager 2100 is set to broadcast in both b and g (i.e. mixed) mode.
I had the same problem... what I did was just entering the dns adress of my router.
So the ppc doesn't wait for the dhcp server to asign it .. it works great when surfing at home !!!
I have done hard reset and soft resets and still my wifi is not connecting.
Finally my EDGE is working great but wifi not. Whenever I try to connect my SSID is set to "EMC Wireless Internal" channel 11. I have no idea where this cam from but I can not get rid of it. I have a new FIOS Actiontec router with wireless enabled to my network name, channel 10. And Hitchhiker tries to connect but it keeps getting bumped off.
I have gone into MediaNet and turned off the proxy and checked for it to go onto the internet on Cingular GPRS.
I have not had a problem connecting before on wifi. I wonder if the router is a problem here, or if my phone settings are screwed up.
And ideas?
Thanks
The WiFi - EDGE contengency
*The Bad News*
By default, if EDGE/GPRS is configured to work, WiFi is rendered useless.
You didnt mention what carrier you have. I have Cingular and they even state on there website that If you configure the Edge/GRPS to connect, then WiFi may not work.
*The Good news*
I have my 8125 working with both Edge and WiFi. Heres what I did:
1. Open Connnections and click on the 'ADVANCED' tab.
2. Click on 'SELECT NETWORKS'.
3. The top pull down should be set to 'MY ISP' or, if you have named your WiFi connection something different, select it here.
4. Click 'EDIT' under this pull down and set connection to 'AUTO PICK'. 'OK' back to Network Management screen.
5. The bottom pull down should be set to 'MEDIA NE'T.
6. Click on 'EDIT' under this pull down. This is where you will set up EDGE using your carrier's settings.
7. 'OK' your way back out. Your done.
These settings let WiFi try to connect first. If no WiFi is available then EDGE/GPRS is used.
Good Luck!
Thank you! Worked for me, but videos streamed from orb still aren't working
Wierd-Fi
I also have WiFi problems after installing HTC official upgrade
ROM 2.25.11.1 WWE
Date 5/11/06
Radio 02.25.11
Protocol 4.1.13.12
ExtROM 2.25.11.102
Everything is great except after successful connection to home WiFi it disconnects after maybe 5 to 15 seconds ... network becomes "unavailable" .. no error message. This happens even when not connected to CIngular EDGE/GPRS (flight mode ON then, individually enable WiFi ON for what that's worth). When I delete my home network WiFi entry to force a re-recognition and setup, it recognizes the wireless net just fine (again) but same behavior.
All my settings are already set as suggested by ralugniC8125 in this thread. I had not tried any of the other ROMs with added features/hacks/fixes found on this website ... would any of them behave differently, you think? PHone was bought from Cingular .. I have not done any unlock procedure (don't really need to from a service standpoint but will if necessary to make a new ROM work right).
Any thoughts appreciated...

I have just purchased an unlocked Tilt from eBay. I have been scanning the wiki for days now, along with other sources, and to no avail. I still cannot get my WiFi to work properly. If any one has had this issue and has found a solution, I would love to know it!
ok, here's a suggestion since none of you have mentioned it.
Diable the MAC (Media Access Control) Binding on the router. This should help.
Maybe yall can help me now I have it attempting to connect however it only connects to gprs and it even shows it has a great wifi signal
Still Wifi-less and Woeful

Thanks for the suggestion. This did not help unfortunately. I should mention that I have tried to access several different types of routers... with and without security, and while they are showing up as being available, they will not stay connected for more than a second or two.
Any other possibilities?
I've been having a bugger of a time with the Wi-Fi on my 8525. I keep getting a response that the WEP key is incorrect. I was able to connect once, and have since deleted my settings that the Wi-Fi network, but nothing I'm trying seems to get me connected.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
I had a problem with my Wifi working when I first got the phone. But since I wanted to SuperCid the phone I had to downgrade the IPL to do so. I re flashed to the same Cingular 1.34 with IPL 1.06. Since then I have not had any problems with the Wifi.

Here's a thought. Why not try the Hitchhiker application. It tends to get round quite a few issues in set up. Also once you've got it working and connected to Wifi you can close it down if you wan to and you'll find it has saved correct settings for your normal way of connecting to wifi. Another benefit is that you can cut the wep key from a text document and paste it into the box it gives you (saves a lot of hassle whenever you need to re-enter the key - which in my case is 28 letters digits long!!) WM5 box as you may have discovered does not allow wep pasting!!
You need to have .netframework installed as well byt the link I give you also has a link for that as well:

i recently got att 8525 but i havent able to connect wifi with my home network. it asks for wep key, then shows connecting to network and after a while shows wrong network key...no success so far...i even tried the abive hitchhiker sf and all but no luck...has anyone come up with any solution??? i had np connecting 8125 b4...!!!
btw i use wm5 and the most recent att rom update posted on htc site...
hoping for some solution...
I have similar problem too with my cingular 8525. I unlock it to work with t-mobile and also upgrade to wm6 . Now, I can not connect to my home wlan. If I click on wlan, it show my wireless network. But if I click on internet explorer, it show me the default internet window explorer with at & t and window mobile icons. when I click on either one, it take me to media net log in screen. help me
ok, i dont know how but my wifi started working last night!!! b4 it always looked for IP address and eventually disconnects b4 connecting to home network. so i installed "hitchhiker" but no luck either...so i uninstalled and then tried but this time it said connected to network and as soon as i open IE, it disconnects...it looked like wifi connects but then disconnects or timeout due to power settings, so i changed power settings under wifi settings to best performance and now it just connects right away...

Thank You Thank you Thank You. I've been at this for a few days now. It would have to be that simple.
Just remember you need to run the remove proxy cab file if proxy is has been set to use GPRS/WAP. Also make sure the right network interface is selected - like work uses 802.11 etc..
Although the left-hand green led flashes, I'm not sure that WiFi is activating. I haven't been able to see any wireless networks, including my own when I was 2-3 feet from the router and WinCE still says it can't find the device and prompts me to turn it on. Has anyone else had this experience?

You could try these:
This one just to see any networks around:
http://wififofum.en.softonic.com/ie/33768
and this one that does a few things in the connection process to save you finding where to put in some of the settings:
You need .net framework as well to use this but there's a link on the page for it as well:

Regarding Win CE? Need more info.

normally i do so by going to the wireless adapter inside the network adapters control panel item. wish i can shortcut it
I have wifi in the house and it shows it at first as available and then flips to unavailable when in fact it is available since my laptop is wirelessly connected. it just keeps scanning and will connect to unsecured wireless routers around my area but will not connect to mine
Any insight as to how I could permanently have it connect to mine...It keeps saying scannig network and cycles from available to not available

Mike,
WiFiFofum shows no activity when I run it.
Re: PocketWinC, I got the name wrong previously. More information about it can be found here: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=3086 It makes it a lot easier to find wireless networks and connect to them. (legitimately! I'm not speaking of War Driving.)
When I run it, (I've used it successfully with other PPCs) I get the error message: "Unable to locate adaptor. If it was turned off, please turn it on now."

Well I think your right Wifi may be showing green LED but like you say it does not sound like it's activating. Have you tried a hard reset? If taht does not work then sounds as if you have a hardware problem.
That Pocketwinc looks interesting - similar to Hitchhiker by the looks of it.

8525 (Hermes TyTn)server assigned ip address frozen
Following an abortive attempt to connect to the (secure?) wlan at the local University , I now have an address "fe80::209:2dff:fee" locked into place in the field for "use server-assigned IP address" in the WiFi network adapter settings page. Consequently I can now connect to nothing with WiFI ( which had been working perfectly.) I would like to avoid a hard-reset - not even knowing if that will work. TIA

Hi there!
today I finally understood why I'm having a similar issue like kicking off the network every minute. I managed to remotely restart the wireless router via _re_connecting my TyTN to the wireless network. It works as follows:
1. The WLAN router is working normally.
2. I turn on the WLAN on TyTN and it gets connected to the network. Everything works fine.
3. I press the power button to put TyTN in stand-by mode.
4. I press the power button to turn TyTN on. It tries to reconnect.
5. The router restarts.
At home I have a similar issue with a different router. It seems to restart on reconnection.
Why is this so? Is this a bug in TyTN or in router's firmware? Can it be corrected somehow?
The router is a DLINK DI-824VUP+ with, I guess, the most recent firmware.
The phone is original HTC TyTN with:
ROM 1.18.255.3
Radio 1.03.03.10
Protocol 32.34.7010.01H
ExtROM 1.18.256.9660
