Official T-Mobile MT3G Roms?? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Is there such a thing? Say, if I wanted to revert back to t-mobile's stock.
Is there a 1.6 rom/update? OR a 1.5 that can update to 1.6?
I lost my MT3G's stock nandroid backup (Face-Palm!) and now I don't know what to do...

You would flash the RC29 for stock then wait for tmo to update your phone with 1.6.

Thanks so much for the reply!
I searched the forum and Google, do you or anyone know where I can get the MT3G RC29 build?

http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/how-to-unroot-your-mytouch-3g/
Follow the to unroot MT3G.

Hey, you can flash this sappimg.nbh forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547133 to get back to stock 1.6. Then update to 1.6 by going into recovery mode by holding home +power when the icon comes up hit home + power again to get to the options. I'll post a link to the 1.6 update in a second.

Alright, cool. One last noob question. Will this wipe and restore everything (data, recovery img, etc)?

Trying to get back to as stock as possible with root!

Just like the title says I want to get back to stock with root! I want my phone to be fresh like from the factory.
I did an RUU about a month ago and since then I have not been able to do a dalvik wipe through recovery, I would like that back!
In the past 2 weeks I have done RUU at least 3 times and after a couple of days I seem to get riddled with FC's just stacking on top of each other, as it sits right now I am getting FC on market and VVM! This is all running 1.5 with like 2 apps installed, and there the same apps I have always downloaded since I have had my phone!
And also what is the fix for the stock 1.5 clock to read the correct time?
Anymore questions just ask
Thanks
Roman

If you rooted correctly you should have a nandroid backup of your 1.5 and should be able to do that. If not I would say RUU then re-root is the next best option for ya.

I am not gonna nandroid until I know its good! I have RUUed 3 times wtih the same results.
I guess my question is which RUU should I use to get my phone back to the day I bought it!
My most recent RUU still had the Flipz PRI auto fix and still no dalvik wipe, so I assume thats not considered stock!
Thanks

You'll want to re-provision your phone once you've RUU'd. Hope you got your MSL.

[Guide] Fool Proof and Simple FroYo 2.2 "Test ROM" Guide for Rooted Phones

Download files and place on SD card:
update-nexusone-FRF50-noradio-signed.zip from Modaco.com (May 24: noradio files added - should work fine for T-Mo & AT&T!)
froyo-rooter-signed.zip from Cyanogen
Titanium Backup -> Backup all user apps
Turn off phone -> Hold Volume Down, then Press Power button
Enter Recovery
Backup/Restore -> Nand backup
Wipe if you have a Sense UI ROM (no wipe needed coming from Cyanogen)
Flash update-nexusone-FRF50-signed.zip
Reboot, you'll get Android-falling-out-of-box
It will reboot into Recovery, select Reboot again
It should boot into 2.2, yay!
You should still have root, but if you want BusyBox (or lost root somehow), Cyanogen has done it again! Go back into Recovery and flash froyo-rooter-signed.zip. Then Titanium Backup will work once again.
Cyanogen for Prez
Paul for vice prez

I think only if you're rooted. I'm not sure.
AT&T users in the Modaco thread have said it worked. Here's one poster who's done it:

I think you can just not flash the radio, I do have an AT&T frequency too so I am not taking chance, I will remove the radio.img prior to install

don't worry about it. Just flash it. You'll get a speed bump. I did. Getting about 1mb faster DL speeds. Its crazy... especially since its mid-day saturday. I'm on ATT 3g in chicago.

Though as the previous person said, you may have to remove the radio.img in the zip. I'm totally not sure. Has anyone here done it?

so when updating to froyo does rooted nexus one becomes just like the stock one, means do we need to root it again to install custom Rom
Thank you. This is awesome and super easy to execute. Thanks again.
Nice! thanks for the write up.
one thing that confuses me though, i have rooted my phone but have the stock rom (nadroid from cyanogen 506), will i be able to get the OTA when it rolls for the ATT version? Or only manual update for me?
thanks.
Everything works, great post by paul as usual
I followed these steps (was running Cyanogen 5.0.6) and it works perfectly. I have the AT&T/Rogers version. I didn't wipe and all my apps/settings are intact!

Slide stock nandroid backup

In case you need to revert for warranty service or just for fun.
Taken from a never before booted unmodified unit. Enjoy!
http://www.4shared.com/file/T0ekY2XN/mytouch_slide_factory_nandroid.html
Note: These instructions assume a certain level of technical skill considering if you have the need to revert you have already rooted and flashed your devices at least once. Ensure you have flashed the factory version of the radio and splash1 partition prior to returning to this image for everything to be factory (note: splash1 can currently be nothing other than factory as there is not an SPL with security off at this time).
1) Unpack these files to your phones sdcard in to a directory named: clockworkmod/backup/factory
2) Boot in a ClockworkMod Recovery
3) Select wipe data/factory reset
4) Select nandroid; restore; select the directory named factory ; wait for restore to complete
5) Reboot
thanks for this. but noob question here: if i ever root & go flashin roms all willy-nilly, how would i apply this?
Nice. Thanks.
Thanks man, I'm gonna keep this saved on me PC for that "just in case" moment you might need it haha. Appeciate it.
Curious if anyone has performed a nandroid restore with the Slide via the stock/clockwork recovery method. My thinking here is if a nandroid restore is possible, with this backup we can return the phone to an absolute un-rooted stock state. Is that correct? Any insight is appreciated.

If you flashed the engineering rom make sure you apply the Newest_Slide_Radio.zip that ChiefzReloaded posted, that is the stock radio. The nandroid backup does not contain the radio.
Interesting, 3 posts asking for clarification and the OP provides unsolicited clarification for someone simply posting a thanks.
Thanks for posting the Nandroid files.
Im going to try and do a nandroid backup using this, but not until tuesday of this coming week (when i will be returning the phone to Best Buy ;-) )

Are you giving up the Slide or are you exchanging? If you're moving on to another device and won't be around much anymore just wanted to say thanks for your contributions while you were testing out the Slide.

Sorry, i've been busy today. I do have time for quick comments but i haven't had time to explain things in detail. If no one steps in to answer i'll answer the detailed questions tomorrow.
Update.zip?
How do i restore this backup, rename it to update and flash from the normal recovery, i have a mix of the original rom and the engineering rom preventing root (lost clockwork by not installing the SU.apk during the Eng flash). i need to take it back, anyone out there???

I did a restore on my engineering flashed unit this morning with this image and clockwork recovery. Everything is back the way it should be, boots right up in to a never before used phone with all version numbers the way they should be.
Now I have to root the thing again!

You need to get in to clockwork recovery, which is currently loaded by the update.zip you use to root your phone. Once you are in there you select nandroid and restore, then flash these backup images to your phone.
If you get to the point you need to do it I would be happy to provide more detailed instructions!

You need to get in to the Clockwork Recovery to restore this. Follow the directions in the root how-to, when you apply that provided update.zip that is what gets you in to clockwork recovery.
Copy these files on to your sdcard (first, before anything else), get in to Clockwork Recovery, select nandroid, select restore, and point it to these images.
ok this sounds totally noob but I'm not sure what you mean by "point it to these images"

Returning to stock ROM

I'm getting a new phone hopefully within the next two weeks, and I'm going to be trading in my Magic. It's rooted and I've flashed to the 6.35 radio and 1.76 radio, so what do I do? Can I just download the official Sense UI from HTC's website and run that -- would that work? Or would I have to change my radio first or something?
Is it still under warranty? If so, you should return it to the ROM it was delivered with. Did you back your phone up with nandroid before you rooted it?

Assuming it has a 1-year warranty, it would've ended about a month ago. Yes, I have a nandroid backup of the original ROM, but do I need to change my radio/SPL or something to restore it?
Well, if it's no longer covered by warranty just leave it with the radio and spl you have now, but wipe your data and cache from recovery and reinstall your ROM. You could sell it with something fast and stable installed, with everything working - like an overclocked CursorSense Other than that, you should be okay.

how can you backup with nandroid BEFORE root?
Well, the way I rooted my 32A was use FlashRec to install a custom recovery and then flash the engineerings SPL from there, so I had the chance of doing my backup before I changed anything. Also, FlashRec makes a backup of your stock recovery image, which you can also flash back

Reboot into boot loader. (Power button and hold volume down)
Then select recovery. It will boot into cw, and you can restore or reflash.
I tried that, didn't work, My nandroid would load just fine and then nothing.. I just loaded the old rom on and it works..
Maybe you can answer this for me since i'm a noob, If i have gingerbread 2.3 how would i load a diff rom on there (honeycomb, etc..) ? I'm using clockword mod recov 3.0. something something

Simply put the .zip file for whatever rom you want on the SD and flash like you have been. That simple. Once you wipe, its like a clean slate so you can flash whatever you want.
Thanks, Maybe there was something wrong with my Nandroid back and it would restore my previous save.. So it doesn't matter what kernal/rom or version of clockwork I have as long as I wipe data & reset correct?
