Problems that I think are related (SMS, pinchtozoom, volume indicator) - HD2 General

Hello everyone,
I am writing to share with you what I found using HTC HD2.
After a bit of time from the starting of the phone, something happens that raises the following issues:
1) text messages remain in your Outbox;
2) In the programs does not work pinchtozoom, except for Opera, Googlemaps and Copilot;
3) in the YouTube application does not appear the green volume indicator. This happens even in the music tab of sense.
When you restart the phone everything returns to work.
I think there is something that after a while it does not work as expected and affect the operation of this phone.
I made a report to support HTC and awaits a response.
ROM: 1.48.408.1 (71294) ITA
RADIO: 2.06.51.07
P.S.: Sorry for my bad english.

Pocket Informant - got it working?

Hi,
is there anyone out there that's got Webis Pocket Informant working on the Diamond2? I've tried their latest release 8.51 and an older 8.10, both on a cleanly installed D2 after a hard reset. Installing goes fine, but when I hit the 'Menu' button in the lower right corner to go messing around with it, it hangs the whole device. I have to soft reset it afterwards. This happens as soon as I start up the calendar.
Is there anyone that succeeded with PI?
Works fine for me with 8.51 via desktop installer
No problems here with 8.51
Thanks for you reactions. I'm still having the problem. I'm now guessing it has to do with the dutch version of the software. After all, the menu that's supposed to open is in dutch. Maybe something is too long for the menu, when it's displayed by TF3D.

Same problem with MENU button in DUTCH version here.
groeten, Danny Groeneveld
I have tried the english version, which works good. Every several days it crashes on me once though. I have seen the text on the last menu option, which is Close, being deformed though. One time it didn't say Close but Go to, and when I clicked it PI closed, like it should. Strange behaviour, but the english version is workable, when you don't mind not having dutch.

Yeah, but I'm not a paying customer. I was just testing Pocket Informant, since a really like their Note2Self and Flexmail software, which I bought. Didn't buy PI yet though and won't, if they don't fix this.
I can confirm this bug as well. Don't have a Topaz but the Custom ROM's for the TouchHD seem to have the same problem with the Dutch file.
Posted on the PI forum. Let's see what happens
Hey there,
Same problem here. Only difference is that I have a Rhodium (TP2) with a dutch rom. So its not a device issue I guess, seems to be an dutch-rom-issue.
Device hangs sometimes (about every 1-3 days) when soft-buttons are clicked to show menus. Soft-reset needed to get It going again.

Have u got a link to the WebIS-forum discussion you started over there?
There are two discussions about this problem:

Problems Opening e-mail (from HTC Sense)

Hi all, I have recently changed my HTC HD for an HTC HD2, but nearly immediately, still without adding any thirdy party program I am nearly systematically facing with the following problem
I am failing opening the received emails (using Microsoft Excange Server Setting) using HTC Sense (i.e. I mean by clicking on the e-mail).
The only way to read emails is then go to the email tab then select ALL from the left bottom corner and then press one of the email in the proposed list to read/open it. This is my actual configuration:
OS = 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82), Manila = 2.5.192116190, ROM = 1.48.408.1 (71294) ITA, ROM Date = 11/16/09,Radio = 2.05.51.05_2, Protocol = 15.28.50.07U.
Can someone help me ?
Many thanks in advance for your kind support ))
Cheers,
Max
I am experiencing the -exact- same problem.
Going to the email tab and tapping on the envelope on the screen does nothing. I can see that it registers the tap, since the envelope 'bounces'. The email doesn't open up like it normally would though.
I have no clue why this keeps hitting me :S I have tried hard resetting 4 times, and it keeps happening.
Someone please provide some insight in to what is breaking in Sense when it comes to the 'open email' functionality.

Tap Start, then Lock. Unlock your device and hopefully bug is gone (till it next appears and you redo the steps).
This very bug has appeared with 1.48 ROMs...
Together with another bug: The lockscreen did not work unless you would force the device to lock using the soft button from the start menu.
Once done, the lockscreen bug plus the mail not opening bug magically disappeared, but I have not seen any thread so far with a clear explanation for the exact reason...
It fixed

Well I don't know what this will do...but what ever it fixed the issue, I never had that issue with version 1.43 and I have updated ROM to 1.48...did that bring in that bug ?

Wow, it worked. Can't believe it was that simple. I guess this will be fixed by HTC in the next ROM update. Seems to be related to the autolock when you put the device in standby, which explains the randomness to some extent...
Thanks tnyynt!
Hi guy, let me try then I was becoming crazy as I did several hard resets attempting to identify which (installed) programs may generate this issue, so installing one by one, resetting etc. but without effect. Suddenly the problem re-appears ... I will re-install everything and let you known accordingly. Anyway just for your info I have opened an official ticket on HTC website about this topic: they suggested me to reset, install latest hotfixes and the new ROM, that today seems to be disappeared from the site, but obviously they did not solve my issue yet :-(

Hi guys, I have terminated the re-installation of all my preferred software but this time, following tnyynt indications, before all I have installed the following CAB I found here: "Touch X autolock disable". As result, during the installation of each program and in the end once terminated the restoring of all my preferred applications it seems the problem does not occur anymore so apparently without the need to do the trick suggested by tnyynt. I would you suggest to try ... just in case it works for you too Thanks again tnyynt

But you've obviously read the whole thread and therefore know how to fix the issue?
Just come across this issue a few days back, but with a twist -
Firstly the lock/unlock fix detailed on the previous page does not work for me, nor a soft reset. I am loathe to hard reset, since I am suffering none of the other issues many people are (sms etc).
As described on the previous page; on the email tab of HTC Sense the email does register the request to open, as it "bounces" when tapped, but will not open in poutlook.
I noticed it, but wrote it off as one of the many quirks of these phones, expecting all to be well in a few hours. But after almost a week I noticed I was not receiving mail at all. Wanting to check the settings, I opened Pocket Outlook via the start menu, and found that all of my mail accounts had disappeared! Leaving the default outlook demo account only. But I can still view and scroll through (but not open) existing mail via Sense.
I know I am going to have to HR, but I am curious to know if anyone else has suffered the issue, and if a trigger/solution has been found.

Thanks, never seen this program before. It worked, to a degree. It restored my folders to Poutlook, but the restored accounts have lost the connection settings (pop, smtp). I think that was user error though
Thanks for taking the time to upload
I should have said, that this prog is mainly for making lost accounts visible again in order to delete them afterwards with the same prog (like in the case when they where visible in manila but not in outlook). Never tried to use a repaired account again (always deleted them and created a new one). But if you say, you only needed to reenter the connection-settings... nice to know that this works

HTC Messaging kills message notification

This post is dedicated to all who have problems with incoming SMS notification while PPC is in sleep mode.
It should be read by rom developers also to be able response on user reports.
Last time I tried new roms and found that while PDA is in sleep mode, new SMS doesn't fire sound notification often. Sound was played just after waking device up. But in sleep mode delay was unacceptable: from seconds up to hours (means never).
I reported this issue to all devs of roms I've tested. without any result. Other users reported that it works for them fine.
I did some tests and found that the reason is 'a lot of SMS' probably in conjunction to HTC Messaging. I have to be fair and use 'probably' word, because I didn't tested it on ROM versions without HTC Messaging yet (I'll do that as fast as possible)
However a few rom ago I used ROM w/o this program and noticed none of described issue.
Tests:
I did tests by sending SMS through internet SMS gateway.
PDA has been located in way, making possible to hear noise of incoming SMS from speakers
I've tested it on Roms: Energy, Grzegorz10, XanyTech.
Finally I've tested threaded and normal mode (w/o difference)
Result of tests gives the clue:
PDA responses on new SMS immediately when
- PDA is just after flashing
- after removing all SMS messages
When in inbox/set box is a lot of messages (more than 300 in my case) - the issue I just described appears.
maxym, i also have this issue with several tested rom's. this is one of the reasons that i am trying new rom's to solve this problem. i will try to empty my message box to see if this solve the problem
Just to add my own 2 cents to it, I have faced the same problem with Miri's Manila 2.5 v19 no HTC messaging.
Here are my observations
1. I upgraded to Radio 1.17 and problem disappeared but battery life was HORRIBLY. Battery life with 1.13 is fantastic for me so shifted back to 1.13.
2. With Radio 1.13, after each reset or restart, if I receive and read one message (from any other phone. I usually send a sms from wives phone to mine) then all the rest I receive till next restart, I get notification even when my phone is in standby.
I am just about to try Kwbr's Rhodium 1.3 Rom (with sense 2.1) to see if its the same case and report back (will again use my favourite 1.13 Radio)
Edit: No problems so far with Kwbrs Rhodium Rom version 1.3 while using Radio 1.13 with GREAT battery life!
I have try and almost empty my messages but seems that this did not help. again i have to power on the HD to receive the notification for a new message.
Is there any solution or any suggestion to try?
Thanks

try disable on Settings/Battery panel the "Automatically adjust backlight" or similar, i red about LookUp issoue.
if problem not solved, flash not cooked ROM, and than cooked ROM, or change Radio ROM.
I have the same Problem and just discoverd this thread.
I'm on Blackstonehenge Hyper 1.5, HTC Messaging Client is 3625.
Auto Adjust Backlight is turned off, and also changing the time until Device goes to Standbymode didnt do anything to me. I seriously hope anyone will be able to fix this.
Tested it with Radio 1.13 , 1.15, 1.17 . Before every single Flash i used Task29 to clear up the Partition.
Any other ideas?
I had the same problem with version 2014.2622
I deleted all messages - also the deleted files (!!!)
Then I uninstalled HTC Messaging and installed version 2014.3625
Since then everything works normal - now one day.
Keeping fingers crossed.
With the Xennytech 2.8B I've got the same problem
Now I'm going back to the Xennytech 2.1B and sms notification working fine.
I removed the last HTC Messaging Client, i've tried - deacitivated sense, with Taskmanager killed the "Messages" Process and installed HTC Messaging from here , it's the HTC Messaging, used in Energy's Roms - this one is working for me and i know have my Notification. Hope it helps someone.
possible solution?
hi guys,
what about installing BsB Tweaks v1.6 and enable "SMS Wake Up" under "General"?
let me know
SMS Wake Up does work, Notifications will come immediatley than, but it will always turn the Screen on
I have also the similar problem to you guys. Running blackSTONEhenge™ HyPer v1.7 and Wajks HTC Messaging. Very annoying, but I will uninstall it, as Wajk made the ROM without HTC Messaging.
Just curious: Do you all use Co0kies Home Tab? I do, but don't know wether it can be the problem too?
No its not CHT - i always try this on empty clean Roms with just the default installed applications.
You can give me some Informations:
- How did you flash? with or without Task29? USPL or HSPL?
- Which Radio do you use? Which Rilphone Version?
- Which Operator do you have? Did you try updating your Operator Settings (Startmenu->Settings->Connections->Connection Setup->Menu->Update Database
Maybe we will find the Solution, till now only a few people seem to have this error - i guess it has something to do with the relation between Operator and new HTC Messaging

Hi, I removed HTC Messaging and it partially solved the problem - i can hear SMS notification sound, but the sign indicating a new SMS received is displayed only on the upper end of the screen as an envelope and not on the Messages icon as it once did - if before uninstalling HTCmessaging the sign showed up without a sound, now its the other way around.
Do you have any solutions for that?
Thank you,
Menash
hey guys... its good to know im not along with this problem...
same symptoms as what you guys describe, sms only get notified when you bring the phone out of sleep mode...
tried several roms... cloudy 2.2... energy... and all with same issues... always hard reset after new flash.. even went and task29 between each roms to make sure...
tried radio 1.17 and 1.14.... makes no difference...
atm.. only way around it for me... leave it plugged into usb all day... at least this way when i get a sms/msg it comes through when it should...
am i the only one to NOT have this problem??? i get the notification sound when a text comes thru in sleep mode fine. been using energy roms

Yea, but it always turns your screen on while receiving a message and thats also pretty annoying. I guess it's something HTC Settings Enhancement based. I compared different HTC Messaging Clients, but there arent so many different Registry-keys in them. Also NRG'z Client ist the only HTC Messaging Client working for me.
I tried five Clients from the new 1.8 Version, i tried a different rom,i flashed with and without Task29, i tried different Radios - nothing seems to work, and nobody seems to care.
I will stay on NRG'z Messaging Client, cause im sick of flashing because of this Error.

Phone painfully slow and guzzles battery...

hi all...
i picked up this phone with very high expectations..
but then there initial glitches of SMS's, ROMs etc were quite a turn off..
after some research found this site and was able to upgrade the ROM and found some really nice applications.. thanks a lot to all the developers..
but my phone has become painfully slow post that.. specially the SMS in thread view.. The SWYPE keyboard takes almost 10 seconds to punch in a word and it takes almost a minute for the SMS to go after i press the send button.. and if i get a call in between typing an SMS then it all goes haywire...
resetting the phone helps but some times it hangs on reset too... and i have to do it 2-3times in a day...
and the battery lasts only half a day... have to keep charging it...
i am not a technical guy.. i have the following configuration...

Manila version - 2.5.19211619.0
Rom Version - 1.66.707.1 (76641)WWE - Upgraded from some 1.44 if i remember correct

The only way to find it out is the following:
Make a hardreset and install one application after the other. Leave some time between the installations in order to watch the power consumption.
The only serious slow-down I had with the phone was when I'd connected to a large share on my NAS drive using the Network plugin. I'd then go into file explorer or Total Commander, and for the next few hours it was stuttering and pausing while it cached all the data. I don't know if it's the same issue, but I thought I'd add my experience.

One way to try to find out what is hogging power is to install Battlog (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444920).
Then install something that lets you kill unnecessary processes, for example the Tool (http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-the-tool.html).
Then soft reset your phone and make sure you do not run any processes other than the "standard ones" (what that is you'll have to find out by trial and error, I'm afraid).
Then start Battlog and start logging to file, let it run for a while and see how the power consumption is. Then you can start one app and see if that affects the consumption, and if not, start another one, etc, etc.
Time consuming and painful, but easier than a hard reset IMHO.
have tried everything...
the phone works alright otherwise
but hangs or becomes slow every-time i am using the SMS function... i have about 2000 Sms's in the device.. but i had more than 10000 in my previous HTC with a 200MHz processor...
do i need to update the SMS with some Hotfix... cause i was having trouble with SMS getting stuck in the Outbox when i updated the ROM and that problem was fixed..

Unfortunately this will slow the HD2 massively. I restored about 1200 messages and it really slowed the device. Try deleting all messages (use PPC Pim Backup first, free) and see if it helps.

[10-Aug-2010][WWE] Pajerm Beta1 ROM - [SYS 21907]

Hello everyone!
Many people asked me to create an English rom. After two weeks of hard work here it is! probably suffers many bugs and so it's still a beta. I ask you kindly to try it and leave me a feedback.
Features:
- This is a lite rom: FREE RAM over 60%
- Manila is not cooked in, but I leave you a Manila themed cab:
http://www.4shared.com/file/gRnpBXUr/2DManila_201919143204Pajerm_MO.html
- This rom is already overclocked at 276MHz and then do not install other overclocking tools
- If you use operamini here is the cab:
http://www.4shared.com/file/DM-6KS5d/mini5wm.html
- I made several customizations that I hope you like them
How to install:
- Flash this ROM as usual
- Reboot your phone
- If this rom becomes slow and you can not open the CommManager or homsettings then install this cab in the phone memory:
http://www.4shared.com/file/fndT0s2N/fp7_ppc_en.html
- Apply the Acid Green theme in homesettings, I created it for this rom.
- If you like manila now you can install it and then restart the phone
Download link:
http://www.4shared.com/file/-L6ZW83g/WWE_Pajerm_beta1_10-08-2010.html
Screenshots:
thanks dear Pajerm
will try it
I downloaded the ROM and have loaded it and my first impression is that it is a very fast, smooth ROM. Of course it is overclocked so that could help a little bit too.
I did have a problem getting the volume buttons to work and having it slow down and freeze when trying to get into the CommManager but after installing this that all went away.

Other than that this ROM is off to a very nice start.

The only thing that I've found so far is that Bluetooth doesn't seem to work.
Other than that this ROM is off to a very nice start.

In configuration screen after flashing you can not set the correct time zone because I removed scrollbars.... however you can set it later...
i prefer m2d v1.2, can i use that with your rom??
yes you can..
Bluetooth working, SMS from manila isn't

You are right, the icon isn't there but it does appear to be syncing up with my headset.
One thing I have found is that with M2D v1.2 that I can't create a text message from the M2D shortcut. But if I go through the start menu to Messaging and then create a new text message it seems to work fine. Sorry, I did have M2D v2.0 loaded first but never tried texting from it before I hard reset and then loaded M2D v1.2.
Am typing this out as the ROM boots for the first time, have to say its off to an imressive start, the boot animation is sweet, super fast ROM!! The stock keyboard seems ever so slightly larger. makes typing very much easier, though i think there is a small glitch in the messaging section. the msgs dont get saved in the right order and instead of showing the time of recieving the msg it only shows the date. Tis' true that there is no notification of the bluetooth running but it does connect succesfully. Part from these minor issues this ROM is beautiful and can say without hesitation that this is one of the BEST ROMs i have ever used, will test battery life etc (bugs as well, if i can find any that is.)
Request you to make these changes ASAP, and there would be nothing better.
1) change the volume adjust style to that of stock (non-windowed type).
2) the volume adjustment bar and other such bars are extremely small and hard to use. Would be nice if you could increase the size.
If the problems cannot be addressed right away would be very kind of you to tell us how to resolve this problem ourselves, and i do hope i was clear enough to get my points out clearly.

I just hard reset the phone and then reloaded Manila v2.0 and I can't create a text message through M2D with it either. So it appears that it could be the same issue with both versions of M2D.
I do remember a problem like this happening with another ROM too. I'll try and take a look around the forum and see if I can find it and if they came up with a solution.

Thank you for testing my rom! I think that the messaging problem can be solved by setting the correct date and time...
Next rom will have htc volume control and a lot of other customizations that you never see in any rom...
HAPPY..

Iswear this was a better rom than jagans...not trying to dissapoint any1,but i have found some problems so went back to the stock...well,the volume is a problem...but still,i liked the rom...
Test Drive
Today was first day of the test drive, noticed a few glitches.
1) clockspeed drops to 186MHz after a while, not sure as to y it drops
2) Manila (the one you included) has problems in the music section, continues to search and search.
3) Windows Media Player is unable to handle 320kbps audio easily. (Just skips tracks)
4) Not having the scroll bar i thought was a good idea but i did notice that some apps become hard to use such as OMAPclock itself (It uses a sideways scroll bar, i think and not having the scroll bar leaves us unable change clock speed manually,
5) Battery gets consumed really really fast, (its not a side affect of the overclocking). Only while the screen is running.
6) On install of Ezinput, the ROM has to be restarted but it hangs in the Primary Splash screen itself.
7) Realised mp4 is not supprted. (This isnt a glitch and not sure if it really does need to be include, this should depend on demand.)
btw, amazing boot speed!!!
As far as the Manila "Music" Tab goes, this cab file should help. Something i downloaded a while back right here at xda
Am amazed at your working speed. hats off to you.
you rom is good, but I can't use this. internet and Camera can't
star!!!!!!!!!!!!
