damn i'll try on hermes too ....and on my artemis ....
but in my ce emulator it also didn't work fully correct....
sometimes i just get black buttons....
It works on my Trinity (WM6) but not the symbol page. But I'm ok with it. Like the 'intelligence' of this over T9, but the scroll left and right (on screen) button is a bit too 'small' and near the edge for ease of scrolling. If that can be fixed, it will be even more perfect.
no good for elf
when i set in french language they a are no letters on keypad
thank you
Anyone manage to 'perfect' this beta version?
While it is useable, without the symbol can pose some inconvenience when you need the symbols.
It works fine on my touch. To get the symbols in blue you press and hold the key. It takes a little getting used to so you don't end up with .. but it does work.
For those getting blank screens, this should only happen when you bring up the keypad without selecting a text field. Meaning if you are in a selected text box the keys should display.
Another bug I found was if you install this keypad and then choose another one that you have installed (pocketCM, HTK, etc), it will not display any text. It's like you are typing in white. The cursor advances, but no text displays. I had to un-install this keypad to get my other input methods to work.
It may sound a little obsesive, but I timed myself using this new touch dual keypad and my pocketCM skin (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1597831&postcount=21) and every time I was able to type faster and more accurate with the pocketCM version. It was close (1:11 vs 1:08) for a couple sentances. I'm glad to see HTC putting a real finger operational keyboard on the Touch, but for now I will stick with pocketCM.
works on the mogul, install, soft reset...

Nah man, that's a great idea. I think a "type-off" of sorts is a good way to determine what's best; although everyone has difference preferences, I think 90% of us subconsciously type the same.
any status on a new version that works a little better?
thx.
e..b
working on Hermes!
Its working fine on my Hermes WM6. Still get the blank buttons when trying to use it outside an application. But within application (e.g. Onecontact, IE ect..) all working fine. Even symbol key is working fine.
Its a great keyboard (esp. the T9 version)...First keyboard where the buttons are large and responsive (iv used sooo many now!).
btw...dont forget to softreset after installation before use!
No symbols
I get all the characters and numbers but the symbols are all blank. I am in the UK. Otherwise it's okay. I personally don't like PocketCM because unless there is lots of free memory it just pops up the default keyboard for me.
is there any way to turn the xt9 off i used the keypad for 5 mins adn when i switched to the normal keyboard the xt9 was still there.. can it be turned off?
^^yeah I found that incredibly annoying, I LOVE this keyboard but I had to uninstall it because the T9 would be there even when using the hardware keyboard!
Can anyone post any pics of this keyboard?
Yeah...T9 still there on hardware keyboard is really annoying!
I installed the HTC keyboard_keypad into my HERMES flashed with the black satin ROM. It's great and I love it. Problem is, after I installed the LetsJapan6 by Asukal to read japanese, the 12-key htc touch keypad no longer shows up. It only shows the 20-key keyboard even though I selected the HTC keypad.
I think it's just a registry problem, but I'm not sure. Tried searching the forums but couldn't find any. Any ideas how to fix the problem. I want to use the 12 keypad more because it has larger buttons than the 20 keypad. The HERMES is quite limited in space for the 20-key keyboard.
If no one knows how to fix this, is their a way to get the list of registry keys changed during the installation of letsjapan06? Hope asukal could help me on this
Just wondering if anyone has used the spb full screen keyboard or not on thier VX-6800. According to Handango it's compatible but Spb doesn't show WM 6 on it nor has it been upgraded in a long time.
The only reason I ask is that I'm looking for a full on-screen keyboard instead of using the small pop up one (with the stylus and hen-pecking) or the pull out keyboard and having to hit the blue button everytime I want to enter punctuation. It slows me down a bit esp when trying to respond in a meeting.
Thanks!
SPB Full Screen Keyboard
Yeah I use it both for my 6800 and 6900 running WM6.1. I initially got it for my touch to help offset the whole keyboard thing, and just loaded it on the titan for grins. It works.

IMO, the price is a bit too high for what it offers. I'd pay 5$ max for such a keyboard, or it would be great as freeware
why on earth would you use an on-screen keyboard for a phone that has a QWERTY slide out hardware keyboard? I can type on my 6800 keyboard almost as fast as I can on my regular computer keyboard, it is nice.
that is why I am waiting for prices to come down on the Touch Pro...going froma 6800 to a 6900 (Touch) is a downgrade in my opinion since no slide-out keyboard.
on-screen keyboards are worthless in my opinion.
However - to answer you question though, most sites dont list WM6, because most phones still ship with WM5, but anything that works with WM5 will work on WM6, or at least everything I have tried for the past year, and I am installing new stuff 24/7
spb is a waste of time
The only reason to have an onscreen keyboard on a titan is to do one handed texting and the spb keyboard blows for that. Use the htc touchpal (I believe the touch comes stock with this keyboard), the only onscreen keyboard, plus when installed it is set automatically as your default keyboard so you don't have to position your thumbnail just right to try and select a different onscreen keyboard.
I tried it but I didnt like it. The buttons still arent big enough on the screen to really work as a keyboard. I dont have large thumbs, but I was constantly pressing the key immediately above, beside, or below the one I wanted to push.
I use the transcribe tool or the keyboard.
The newest version works great
With the new option for the full or half screen keyboard it's alot more useful for texting when you can't use the qwerty slide
I don't know what you are talking about it is the biggest pressable keyboard there is for the titan. You must be thinking of something different. I believe this is the one you really want.

Hi Guys,
Got myself a magic a few days ago, love it to bits but really struggling with the OSK.. the keys are just too small to type quickly/easily.
Is it just me and my big hands ? lol
Are there any alternatives for OSK out there ? (maybe like the phonepad style that comes in HTC EZInput for WinMo?)
Not sure how the keyboard could be much bigger than it already is. The screen is 3.2 inches across (diagonal) and that's all you have to work with. All that can be done is to make the buttons on the bottom row bigger (wider) by omitting the Shift and the Del button, but that would make the qwerty layout kinda funky.
Turn it on its side (landscape mode) -- the keyboard will be bigger that way than in portrait mode.
You can install the app "big keys" in the market and see how you like that. Or you can install the htc keyboard found in the Dream forums. HTC_Chime.apk is what you are looking for.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll have a play with the HTC keyboard and see what it's like.
Does the Magic have the option of the T9 Dialpad keyboard? Or is it just a plain full QWERTY keyboard that auto-corrects?
I haven't seen a T9 option, but it's easy to turn the auto-correcting off, although it will still offer you suggestions, but won't mess with what you're writing.
...double post...
That reminds me, I must add "org" and "uk" to my dictionary so I don't keep entering my email address as [email protected]e
I do not know what video i was watching, but I saw that there was a dialer keyboard available on the HTC magic. Now, I do not know if it was a rooted phone (which it probably was) or if it was an application that was added to the phone. If I am correct, they were showing haykuro's work and it showed in the text input a dialer keyboard. If this is true, would one have to root their G2 phone for it to work? The thought of possibly bricking the phone, sort of...well...makes me feel uneasy lol.
A friend and I are looking to buy HD2s when they're released in the CDMA version, but a big concern of ours in the quality of the onscreen keyboard.
I have an HTC Touch Pro 2 at the moment, and he has a Samsung Omnia, and one of his main points-of-jealousy is my hardware keyboard.
I'm hoping the screen size will make an onscreen keyboard more bearable, but...
So, could anyone post comments about the keyboard, and/or post screenshots of the onscreen keyboard in both vertical and horizontal configurations.
I'm really hoping the onscreen keyboard is the same as the HTC HD2s...only larger...
Nothing will replace hard keyboard. TP2 is the best so far. Go youtube to review the HD2 virtual keyboard.
If you are fimiliar with TP2 keyboard, you will highly hate the HD2 keyboard. Even Swype or TouchPal Pro are not that perfect yet...

The keyboard is hit or miss, but if you did a poll on here, you'd get people mostly saying it's a hit!
I personally love it, but it did take me a while to get used to it. Also, going through the screen alignment process helps, as it gets the screen aligned to how you use it (as long as you do it in a natural manner, with your thumbs, and not using your finger as a stylus. Who uses their phone like that?? )
If you read the forums, you'll see there's some people that don't like the keyboard, but there's also a lot that originally didn't but have got over it. It needs a little practice, but I can type very fast on it now that I'm used to it.
Anyway, here's a couple of screenshots. Hope this has helped
I Didint wanna start a new topic, so i will borrow this one

Not sure if this helps but just open a SMS, at the bottom you will see the symbol for your input. Tap it once and a small arrow appears to the right, now tap the symbol again but slightly to the right (ie/ tapping the arrow) and you will see QWERTY with an arrow allowing you to choose phone keypad or qwerty.
both arent bad and the predictive input is clever but i personally prefer Touchpal, i find it more responsive and fast (it keeps up with fast keystroke entry).
Thanks for the replay, i found the arrow after more searching in google! it was stupid of me that i didnt tap that! lol
i did tap the hole keyboard icon insted!
Now i can type much easyer
I used touchpro 1 before using HD2, still finding typing with hardware keyboard faster. Especially if you disable auto complete, word correction.
but I still love my HD2.
I have an energy rom. Would you happen to know how to switch back to the way the original keypad looked before the 1.8 client?
I enjoyed the X1's HW keyboard, but I must say, within a few days of using the HD2, I don't miss it.
