Is there anyway to remove a scratch on HD2's body? - HD2 General

I had dropped my HD2 and after that I noticed there was a little mark on my HD2's body. It was probably caused from the drop.
The mark is in shape of a little circle, it is like the skin was torn a little bit.
In spite of the mark is small, it is in a position that is quite noticeable when I browse websites or read an E-book in landscape orientation.
Is there any way to remove the mark? I fear that scrubbing it might make it worse.

try using some special screen polish. commonly available at mobile phone stores. and while you're there, get a screen protector. thats much easier when you scratch it

Thanks. But it's the body that has a scratch, not the screen. My HD2's screen is still intact .

can you post a pic?

No. Hard to explain with words. But when you look at the screen your eyes can see more than just _only_ the screen. You can try to hold your HD2 your hands in landscape orientation, I think your might get what I mean. The mark on the _body_ is in a position that is quite noticeable.
It's in the side that we use to open the battery cover. Please see the ASCII graphic below.
------------------------------
|||||-----------------
|||||||||---- <-- The grip for opening the battery cover.
|||||-----------------
||||||||||||||||||* <-- The mark is hear.

This is screen (Please use your imagination to make this into 3D).
The | represent space.

Can you not just take a picture? It will make it easier for us and for you if you can actually show use the damage.
Your ASCII graphic makes no sense. If you want proper help, get a camera and take a picture.

I can only suggest you buy acquire a Zagg invisibleShield!
It no doubt, the best! It basically protects the entire phone (even the corners are protected, and everybody knows cornesr are first to get a scratch!)

Picture tell a thousands words , post the picture . . . who know, you might get a solution.
Get a hard or soft case from PDAir Webstore, is look great !!

If I have time, I'll get a camera and take a picture. Anyway, I doubt that just seeing the picture can generate the idea of how to fix.

I suspect he is describing a nick in the thin plastic edge that borders the glass. the only thing I can think of to minimize it would be some VERY VERY VERY fine emery paper, or perhaps some glass workers polishing cloths.
...
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS AS ADVICE.. I TAKE ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSIBLITY FOR PUTTING ANYTHING LIKE THAT ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR PHONE. personally I think I would just learn to live with it.

Thanks for your advice. Nevertheless the mark in on the body.
You can look at the picture as follows:
http://www.gsmarena.com/showpic2.php3?sImg=reviewsimg/htc-hd2/gal//gsmarena_007.jpg
The mark is above the battery cover in the picture (above in 2D).
Regarding of using the emery paper, I'm afraid it might make the thing worse .

I've a crater on the battery cover finish

phew, that's one piece of advice I'm glad isn't being taken!

Solution to Peeling Black Trinity

Ok,
The solution is simply to apply a thin layer of nail polish on the problematic areas.
This is unseen and solves the problem.
This works fine!
Nadavi.
are u suggesting a grey nail varnish ? or a clear one before the paint starts peeling?
Yes
yes, Before it starts peeling.
Nadavi
may be it will stop peeling of painting.. I am not saying it will not, but will definitely invalidate device warranty.
i don't see how it can damage the warranty.
NAdavi
don't think the invalidated warranty will be a major issue in the UK, since it appears that it's not worth the paper it is written on
applying any permanet layer of chemical substance can lead to refusal to repair device under manufacturer's waranty.
Your milage may vary...
you can't even see it...it's a one millimeter transparent nail polish...its external and if you really want to you can peel it with your nail (its not easy but it can be done).
this is not an irreversible process.

How about peel it all off so it's nice and shiney?
Any suggestions on how to do this safely? Mine is peeling a little bit...but I think it's getting worse day by day.
Sugar cube?
Well...i'm a total n00b at this. I love the P3600 but noticed the peeling and joined on the forum to get some ideas. Has anyone done this already with photos to see what it looks like? The thought of sending it in for a few weeks seems totally crazy. Plus, I bought it from some small phone store that doesn't seem totally up on repairs and the like. Prefer to take care of it myself.
you can use sugar cube to scratch the painting off. it will not damage the underlying layer of paint. Old trick, but works well.
anyone have any pictures of after the sugar cube trick or with the nail polish on?

Scratched Diamond Screen ??

the diamond,as we all know has a very weak screen..anything will make a permanent scratch, even your fingernail !....the point is once scratched it looks terrible...the only soultion (so far) is to install the white mannila theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433050
as this completely hides all the scratches...more white/grey /light coloured themes would really help all thoses scratched diamonds out there..so theme makers please do some variations on light/white coloured themes as the scratch problem will only get worse !
That's why there are Screen Protectors.
The screen protector is rubbish too though, i have scratches on mine that have gone through that to the screen.
We all know that accidents can happen to scratch the touch screens but if people just use the inside of their fingers or use the Stylus you shouldn't have a problem. I never have even after 5 touch screen PDA/Phones.
This might be worth a shot:

Those things actually work by grinding down the surface layer so that the scratch is less diffractive. I seriously wouldn't use that on your phone, unless you want to destroy it completely.
I was under the impression you can send it off to have the sreen repaired.
Surely you can polish scratches out?

thats how most polishes work... they either fill it in or take a little bit off the surface.
the best i have found with previous devices is Acrylic Polish (like very fine T-Cut)
you wont break the device using it!
I used toothpaste and a soft cloth, to buff out light scratches from my diamond, it wont completely erase them, but it helps
My mates Dad just jabs at his screen with his car keys, it makes me cringe to think about it.
Surprisingly I took a dremel tool and put a cotton bit on the end, cranked the bugger to full speed and melted the scratch away. Need to be careful with how you do it but it does work. I suppose if you just go right at it and not pay close enough attention you'd warp the screen though...

Is it possible to scratch the screen with stylus?

Hello people
I am using Pocket Artist to draw and I love it.
But I am just little worried that I may scratch the display - which I would not like at all.
is it possible to make some scracthes with the stylus?
Thank you people.

yes it is. imagine that you can have some dust particles (which, in the end, is just stone) under your stylus
but if you use the screen protector, as advised, you can forget about this issue

??? Off topic i know but Stone ???? Surely dust particles are generally human skin, in the house anyway.... Stone...my god no wonder i am putting on weight if all i am eating is dust !!
Sorry couldnt help that bit of fun, no malice intended. I concur though that so long as you have a screen protector on of some nature you should be fine to draw away to your hearts content.
Yes, I get small, small, "stone" on stylus on my old HP 4150. You can just imagine what I did with that screen. Since this disaster, there is allways screen protector on all my mobiles, pdas,....
whilst im not convinced that dust could scratch it since just is just human skin im positive that all the other crap that sticks to the screen finger grease can and will scratch it if run over with the stylus.

Take as much care of your stylus as you do your screen. Check the end of your stylus for chips and scratches.

the infinite wisdom of the chinese people......
about the dust - despite what some might belive, dust is not only dead skin (found mostly within people houses) but came also from walls, roads, fields, etc.
So better respect "the chinese proverb" and you will more happy
i actually did scratch mine in the first days.
the protection it came with was already gone so i removed it.
but i did not want to put the real one on if i had to return it to the store.
i scrolled up in the wether panel and voila a big scratch all over the phone.
i guess the stylus had a sharp end.
you could hardly feel it with the finger but the stylus stuck at it and you couldnt use it anymore.
but my store swapped it without question
thanks for all the replies guys
so as you guys advised and blah blah...
i didnt put the screen protector...and what I found on my screen when I went to bed?
SCRATCH!! just a little one...but it is there...
so I learned a lesson..and now I wanted to apply the SP but really couldnt, then I accidentaly touched the adhesive side (I did applying screen protector 1st time ever) and it got dirty OMG ..I hope I can wash it somehow and reapply or whatever..
Yep so anyone who will read this thread without having SP applied - DO IT!
Very good advice...because if you will read this thread and wont apply SP you will get a scratch, black magic!! Buhuhuhaha
Just kiddin...

HD2's display indeed covered with glass, and it's very scratch-resistant (video)

Here you go - if you scroll down to the first video on the page you'll see how they scratch HD2's screen with keys, a knife and scissors - and none of these leave any traces on the screen.
Warning: This is not for the faint of heart. Unless you are used to eating babies for breakfast you may be better off not watching this brutal torture video. Here's a quick test to check if you're ready:
1. Do you plan to start using an electric vehicle to help stop global warming?
2. Do you consider your personal contribution to the cause of Free Tibet insufficient?
3. Did you ever believe a politician?
If you answer "yes" to any of the questions above, this thread might be better for you.

I felt literally sick after watching that
Waouh ! no screen protector for me too !
Yikes, but boy are those camera pictures crap, why did they put that pile of ****e in it. What a let down.

Personally i'm seeing a smudge over where he was scratching, without cleaning the screen no conclusive information can be taken from this.
Well, he says there are no scratches left, for what it's worth. I would trust his opinion in this case rather than impressions from the video.
well even if their was scratches on teh scree from SISSORS it is still impressive. i mena come on, the guy was trying to scratch the screen and it diddnt.
what it doesnt show on the video is the amount of pressure he applied though.
I'm sure you can scratch it, picking the right tools and the right pressure. But I think it's rather safe to assume that it's scratch resistant enough to keep the phone in your pocket without any shields.

agreed, i think the point behind the entire "scratch proof" is to prove that placing it in your pocket without a screen protector will not have it coming out looking like a touch HD 1 This is great news in my humble opinion!!
not sure what is so bad of putting a screen protector, really? I won't take a risk at all to have a permanent scratch on my device!
Well, because I hate doing things like applying those damned protectors; because those protectors get scratched fairly easily and your device starts looking like crap; because I can never apply them accurately enough so that they don't have bubbles underneath.
I hate them with a passion, really. I even wanted to by an iPhone because of this. When I first heard about capacitive screen on the Leo I didn't give a damn about multi-touch (and I still don't care much about it). My hope was that HTC would use a glass screen surface. Now I'm happy. The screen is scratch resistant; if I still manage to put a scratch on it, I'll have it replaced - it's not that expensive.
that was stressful watchin that The poor TD2

agree 100% with u, man i loved those iPhone screens, i could care less about the multi touch, i mean great, but if my HD 1 would have that screen, i'd be more than happy using it for a good more couple of months!

it seems like not a reliable test to me, the reviewers seems using light pressure doing the test. And I really don't believe that any phone in the market can be really scratch resistant. Why taking the risk. In real world usages, there are many things can scratch glass surface very easily, and why leave some permanent scratches to the expensive device? What is so wrong with a screen protector?

Capacative stylus from HTC....Weird

I got mt HTC Capacitive stylus the other day, how the hell are you supposed to use it? It is as fat as my finger with a very loose fitting piece of plastic at the business end that has a red dot in the centre of it. This is not a well made piece of hardware and will certainly break in short order. To make matters worse it cost £20..................Waaaaaaaaaaa

I have the dagi version which by all reports is pretty much the same (£15ish for me though)... its a bit tricky and takes a bit of getting used to and I dont know why they need the whole of that plastic bit at the end as it seems to work ok with just a small part of it... but after some playing with it I find its very accurate and I can write chinese characters much easier and select text for copy and paste or to get a pop up definition much easier too... oh and I keep mine in my pocket and so far its proved to be fairly robust... (although I wouldnt want to sit on it to be fair)... I would like one that isnt so big at the end and was more like a pen... but so far so ok...
Ever considered trying to sand the tip just to make it smaller...?
