I mean, hot the hell is it possible that you can add multiple landline numbers but only one monile number?
In addition on the MyPhone webpage you can indeed add multiple mobile number, but when synching only one will show up on the phone...

Adding extra fields to the Contacts!

Dears, I was wondering is there any software or application to allow getting all the fields which appears in Outlook to appear in the contacts in the Imate?
Also is there a way to store 2 mobile numbers in the contacts (by having M1 and M2)? and not storing the other mobile number for a contact as a home number or car number? this should be effective when u send SMS and show both Mobile numbers!!
I use Agenda Fusion.
That should do pretty much all you ask.

Thanks a lot, I will look at it.

Contacts Database issues

Have recently migrated to WinMobile based PDA phone. Having used various flavours of SmartPhones, I find it disconcerting that I cannot edit the fields in the Contacts Database.
One problem I've had in importing my 600-name database is that most of these contacts have more than one mobile phone, and either only one has come across or the second mobile has been put under work or home (landline) field. This means I can't select one these numbers to send SMS.
Am I missing something or is this the way the Contacts Database is designed?
thats the way its designed. the only way i found around it for multiple phone numbers is to have additional contacts setup, eg the Business line and numbers, then each of the representatives as extra, and usually I would just tweak the names to group them similarly in the contact lists.

My contact list looks funny...

Hello all, I just received my X1, and I am loving it! Great way to start off the new year! However my contact list looks funny...Is there any way to change my contact list? For some reason after every name is a /1 or /2. I am getting my contacts through my sim, is there a way to remove the /1 or /2, or would I have to go through every list and take it off?
try copying your contacts on to your phone to see whether that resolves it. Some phones (my old sony ericsson phone used to) stores primary, duplicate, mobile, work numbers etc. with backslashes.
Yea mine was like that too. I didnt want to change it manually so I just beamed them from my old phone one by one :|
I know what you would've done... You previously had a SE phone in which you had stored contacts with various numbers Home number, work number etc...
Then you copied them onto your sim, before putting in the sim to the X1.
Now this is the way SE stores them on the sim...
great...no way to fix this all together? lol yeahh i had a k810i, which i don't find to be too old of a phone...i tried exporting from the sim to the phone too, didn't change anything though. Is there a way to export your contact list to the computer? I could just write up a quick c++ program to take in the list and remove all slashes and everything after that.
I wanna export my contact list into my comp
Im having problems finding for my contacts on the phone because of the overlapping of names with /1 /2 sort of titles... but before i do any changes and arrange the contacts, i wanna save them into a list on my computer. but it doesnt show on the microsoft office outlook contact list ?? help me~!
totally new to pocket pc here... please help!
greatly appreciated.
W810i to Xperia
Yea similar thing happened to me. I have a w810i and i saved all my contacts to the sim, and tried to copy them into my Xperia. The contacts were saved like
last name; firstname /m (mobile)
last name; firstname /h (home)
So what i did was I put the SIM back in my w810i and sent the contacts via bluetooth. You don't need a sim to power on the Xperia. However, i was unable to get "Send all contacts" to work. So i had to send one at a time!, it was a pain, but at least it's better than trying to removed the /m /h and consolidate the numbers into one contact.
Hope this helps!
I just corrected all contract one by one... the problem is the difference between a mobile phoen and a smart phone...

Phonebook

i love the Droid X, but freaking hate the phonebook. it truley is the worse contact list i've used. is there anyway to flash the stock android phonebook onto the phone?
if not, does anyone know how to limit what contacts are displayed? i dont want everyone ive ever emailed to show up in my contacts list. i've tried changing the displayed contacts to my phone contacts, or gmail contacts, but whenever i leave it for a bit it just resets and shows me hundreds of stupid emails.
I had a similar issue, have had my DX about 6 weeks and found some useful articles on the subject. I think (and only my recollection, could be wrong on this) what I ended up doing was un-syncing EVERYTHING in terms of email accounts and contacts (via My Accounts) and ended up ONLY syncing my gmail contacts.
This was done after finding a nifty Facebook Profile Pic sync to Gmail thing-uh-majig. If you sync contacts, preferrably you limit what you sync because as you said, it goes WAY overboard. It sounds like you sync'd corporate (work) email and contact which is a BIG no-no.
Once I started using roms all my contacts issues went away. Almost all the roms have the normal stock android contacts app. Some can even use WyContacts (the CM contacts app).
Edit: @DNak206, hey I'm from seattle too! My droid X is the one verizon gave away during their @droidlanding promotion thing in Seattle.
Yup dc seem to mic all the contacts but if you hate to look because everything seems mixed up ( facebook contact, phone contact and so on ) you can alway preds menu and select a display group.
The way I manage my contact is I have fixed and organize every thing on my gmail thnen I sync my droid.
The eay I use my contact is I dont go yo the contacts shortcut. I always go to the phone shortcut the select favorites since the droid is keeping a record of all of the contact that iI usually use and it has pwen put in order. I also use the defaul universal inbox to send email. I hit compost and start typing names and email and the droid gives a suggestion and I just select one from there.

NICE! I have lived in Seattle awhile, I guess you could say I'm immune to the weather.
While we're on the topic of contacts though, has anyone noticed the default text messaging/SMS will populate ALL the phone numbers for contacts as opposed to identifying the "mobile" listed # for a contact?
For example, if I'm trying to send a text to Jon Smith. I'll compose new message, start typing "smi" in the :TO line and Jon will pop up in the selectable options (or scrollable rather?). The problem is, I have to swipe or scroll through his work, home, and then finally select his mobile number.
Maybe Windows had one thing over Android because neither my TP1 or TP2 would ever list a work or home # when composing a new text, it was actually smart enough to recognize the mobile # in terms of priority. Anyone else found a fix for this, maybe a text app (like handscent or whatever) will resolve?
Handcent or chompSMS might do the trick. When calling someone I know theres an option to remember the number you dialed, not sure about when texting..
If you always send msg or call john he will be under your favorites list. I always go thru the favoritw list and click the call icon on the side of the name to make a call or i click the name then clic the mail icon to send sms.

WP 7.5 & Outlook 'File As'

Can anyone tell me if WP7.5 shows contacts in the same way you have them saved in outlook - i.e uses the 'File As' box on outlook contacts.
I have almost 2000 business contacts and using Windows Mobile 6.5 works for me. I know Android and IOS don't do it but no idea on WP7.5
Or is there an app of some description to do it.
I need it to show Company Name (First Name, Surname) ??
Also as a side does smart dialing work - i.e. dialing any part of a contacts name or phone number narrows down the choice of contacts.
Thanks
in my brief encounter i didnt see any option for filing by company name but i could be wrong.
i really think of windows PHONE 7 as just that, i.e. a phone, not anything smart or as a pda organizer.
sure, you can synchronise your photos, music and videos (in very limited formats) but try transfering real files or data. and dont get me started about sms
smart dialing worked ok.
