So apparently Google has a user's guide tucked away on their site:
http://www.google.com/support/android/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=guide.cs&guide=27201
direct link to PDF:
http://www.google.com/googlephone/nexusone-userguide.pdf
Would have been nice of them to put a copy on the phone by default.

I went to Cyanogen 5.0.7 Does anyone know where I can get all the google apps for my phone?
Market, Maps, Google Talk, Gmail etc..
For some reason I thought it would back up the apps then port them over or something.
theres a link to it in the original post in the CM5 thread.
That link seems to have been down all day. Are there any other sources for the file?
My problem was I didn't follow the xda tutorial, I went to the wiki and followed the normal one, and just put 5.0.7 instead of 4. whatever. ( I sure did get lucky.)
Somehow or another I missed the part that said "Install the DangerSPL if you don't already have it"
Anyway if you don't have it, the phone acts a little weird, and the gapps only puts a gmail link that does nothing.
Anyway, just to make up for it I went through the tread and found a few links to the Google Apps (which I already had before making this thread lol)
so after much looking and carefully arranging the links I found out that I can't post links go to the thread and it's on page 3 if you want a mirror. There's also at least 5 other pages with mirrors
In case you don't know how to install it, just throw it on the root of the sdcard and boot to the boot rom thing whatever it's called and do that install any zip from sdcard then select this.
Bleh, I can't post outside links so I'll just link to a page that has the files you need
Sorry about creating this thread, I'm sort of a noob when it comes to phone modding.
Thanks a lot for the replies!
I had trouble with a newer version of DangerSPL. Make sure the version ends 2005 (see "How Do I check if I already have DangerSPL?" on the DangerSPL cyanogenmod wiki page)
Finally went and made the beginnings of a general flashing guide that should eventually cover the basics of everything streak related.
forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dell_Streak/Flashing_Guide
For the time being I ask that noone directly adds to the list and instead gives me the details to add myself. As it's a wiki I cannot force anyone to do this but i WILL edit it to match the phrasing or possibly remove it if it's redundant.
It is intentionally not excessively verbose/detailed as too much additional detail is only needed if you're completely new to flashing/messing with software.
It doesnt handhold your way though flashing stuff, if you dont know how to use the command line you should NOT be flashing roms as when you brick you only have your self to blame for not having the needed prereq ability pc wise.
It also only covers windows as I only work/dev on windows, if anyone on *nix/osx wants to give me the OS specific details i'll go ahead and add it
It's also missing most of the details on how to use QDL tool as i've never used it or needed it. I need someone to add/help me add the details in the same guide style without handholding users though using it
It's also very generic as installing most roms dont have specific requirements to them (excluding setting up SD's install.txt which is it's own thing)
it does NOT and will not cover using automated tools such as Gingerbreak or mutlirecovery flasher as automated tools ultimately mean that you do not wish to read the instructions on how to do it properly. (on the streak at least) (no offense to respective makers)
edit: it should also NEVER contain links to the forum and especially "read this post to do xxx" stuff, it should be more or less self contained except with regards to downloading files, which should either be direct links (preferably not on a filesharing site like multishare/etc) or links to another section of the wiki containing links
I know there's a couple users about with compiled guides but I cant recall who/which offhand as I dont need them myself. I'd like your input whoever you are
Great job!
Sent from my Inspire 4g using XDA Premium App
I have added some comments on the talk/discussion page on the wiki. If there is any specific topic you need help on in the wiki let me know.

Thanx!
I purchased a Nook Simple Touch during Black Friday for $40 from Sears. The first step for me is to learn from XDA Nook forum on how to root the device. There are lots of posts and confusion is inevitable for a newbie like me. Finally I figured out what's the best approach and rooted the device quite successfully.
To save time and effort for those newbies like me, I think I shall share what I learned and what I tested here. Therefore, I wrote a post on my personal blog and the link is below:
Step-by-step guide for turning NST to a fully fledged Android e-reader
The tutorial covers:
COmplete backup and restore of your NST
Root
Multi-touch and NoRefresh improvements
The main XDA posts from which I learned a lot are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346748
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22800284&postcount=10
The authors of these posts are greatly appreciated!
Enjoy your rooted NST!!!
hi, thanks for the easy guide! one correction though, on step #2 of the actual rooting process, you mention "sdcard,XUFullTouch-PART-1-START.zip" twice instead of using the END zip.
thanks for your blog it will help since the information in this forum can be harsh to gather.
But it is necessary to add a step: Check the backup before the step #3
a lot of noobs (included me) fall into the trap of a wrong backup (76Mg instead of ~2G).
The purpose of the backup is to come back to something safe. There is already another blog that details everything to root, but omits to check the backup.
You need to add a section to check if the backup is correct:
- size (must be more than 1,8G,
- must contains 8 partitions
- must have the rom partition with the serial
some people here in this forum gives the procedure for all of this. What we need now is an updated procedure and your blog could be the beginning and then the wiki of xda should be also modified.
I get an acess denied when I try to use the link you give
I new to android and same for web services. I want to learn how to use PUT request for placing file on a url. But I couldn't find any sample or tutorial for doing so.. Please help me by providing any tutorial or anything...
I know this is not the place for such questions but I have been searching for long but couldn't find any solution.
Well there are several way to get it:
1.) Using standard HttpClient
2.) Using an external library like Volley
It is up to you to choice the right way, you should consider how complex is your application.
You can search on google using Android HTTP Client: GET, POST, Download, Upload, Multipart Request
you can find a full tutorial explaining how to to use HTTP connection to invoke a WS.
Bye

Please don't use crappy, sketchy download sites that push borderline malware and want access to my social network accounts! XDA allows you to attach files, including ZIP archives, directly to your posts. There is no excuse for sending somebody to that atrociously bad excuse for a website. Don't do it again.
below. lol
excuse me sir, which link do you refer to?
some software may detect it, as a malware etc. do you learn the internet?
poor developer perhaps? or maybe you want to promote your site/profile?
do some researches before make any conclusion..

Your English is really hard to understand (though probably better than I am at your native language). With that said, the idea of a 60-post user suggesting that I am a "poor developer" and don't know the Internet is... kind of hilarious. I take it you're new around here?
www.4shared.com is (like nearly all of its sort) an extremely sketchy website, full of tracking links and popup advertising. It may not actually be malicious but I wouldn't trust anything downloaded from a site like that unless I had no other choice. It also wants me to sign in, preferably with a social networking site (more tracking!) before letting me download. That is, in a word, unacceptable. In fact, it violates the forum rules:
• Off-site downloads are permitted if the site is non-commercial and does not require registration.

EDIT: I'd post the file from that link myself, after verifying it to be safe, but I'm not going to sign into that site to do it. If you want people to follow your steps, host the file here on XDA.
Why is One tutorial posted 3-4 times with the same steps and files. I think its clearly mentioned in one of the earlier posts of how this tutorial works. Kids just trying to get some fame here. :/
