My device is a T-mobile MDA Mario and the IPL and SPL version shows 1.06. It has been SIM and CID unlocked. I would like to try some other ROMs. I have found there are many ROMs with the version of 2.21.*. So I am just wondering if I can flash my device with these ROMs?
I am not sure if I can only flash my device with the verion of 1.0* ones?
Thanks for your replies!
yes, you can flash them. Just take care of the G3/G4 version and read instruction very carefully. Better yet, you go to t-mobile site to download an official AKU upgrade. If you are not confident, don't flash your phone.
Thanks! This is a G3 model.
So I think it might be fine to flash any ROMs after CID is unlocked.
if it is CID unlocked then flash away.
I just recently got my 8125 and i use the button rom and ipl is 1.01 & spl 1.01
and also it is sim and cid unlocked
I was wondering if you had to install t-mobiles 2.26 rom or can i just install any other wm6 custome rom.
or install t-mobiles rom then any wm6 cooked rom?
and can anyone here give me some instructions
ive been thinking the same ive got a g4 device and dont know if i should flash 2 this rom before i step up 2 wm6 or if i can do it direct from the a2uk rom from the uk 02
any pointers guys would b great.
Yes, you need to upgrade to the t-mobile 2.26 rom (or any other updated ROM of 2.xx or higher). Most, if not all, of the WM6 ROMs on here do not include an IPL/SPL upgrade and WM6 will not work without and IPL/SPL of at least 2.xx.
i just have bought wizard, a used one, and it has already been SIM unlocked, it's a T-mobile MDA and i dont have a T-mobile SIM inside.
the thing is, i would like to upgrade to WM6, ive looked at all sticky threads, and i know the drill, but ive noticed that my IPL/SPL is 3.08.
in this READ FIRST thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
says in step 17 that is the best to use this ROM 3.08. Maybe is my device already also CID unlocked, but how can i be sure? is there some app that can tell me is my Vario CID unlocked, so i dont need to go step by step to unlocked it?
please help
P.S. Sorry for my grammar, im from Croatia
If you want to know if it is cid unlocked try flashing a rom to it. If it is the rom will work if it isnt cid unlocked the RUU program will inform you that the rom was not designed for your device.
I am guessing that you have a G3 wizard if so download this
http://rapidshare.com/files/53377946/Wizard__CID___Sim_Unlocker.rar
that contains the love rom lokiwiz (all versions) and an o2 official rom WM5 extract it and try running lokiwiz that will tell you if your device is unlocked or try flashing the o2 rom if it works its cid unlocked, if it reports back it is not designed for your device its locked.
NOTE WELL. DONT TRY FLASHING THIS ON A G4!!!!!
tnx, my IPL/SPL is 3.08, so it is not G4, it's a G3
EDIT:
so, i just download any ROM, like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367534 and connect my phone to active sync, start .exe and wait??
EDIT2: hmmm, ive downloaded this rom, but no exe file
EDIT3: think i got is, xp_rom_update utility
ok, i was little worried about "
NOTE WELL. DONT TRY FLASHING THIS ON A G4!!!!!"
i mean, i have IPL/SPL 3.08, this is G3 right?
and does it work for you?
look post over your's

Before flashing any rom, download the 'WST Tool' and run the 'CID Action' button to verify the CID lock/unlock status of your phone. With ipl/spl 3.08,it becomes quite difficult to downgrade and CID unlock the phone, therefore,I'll advise you to get it confirmed if your phone is already unlocked or not,ok
Cheers!
i won't try if somebody,please give ma an answer...is my vario G3 or G4...ipl/spl are 3.08
EDIT:
@ zabardast_1
where can i find this tool, and hou can i run it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295038&page=1
It says for my Phone G3. SPL/IPL 3.08 at all but i'm not sure about that.
Download WST 4.2 from the following link and follow the instruction in this thread :-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329170
YES ! your phone is a G3 device with ipl/spl 3.08,The WST 4.2 tool will also verify it,ok
Cheers!
WST tells me that my Phone ist locked. What is the best method for IPL/SPL 3.08 to cid unlock?
ok, i have pushed device info and it says
"Warning!
A device was detected but one (or both) of RAPI
Communications and Applications Policy isn't
enabled.
Use first button for that purpose and try again"
i have clicked Enb. RAPI and its same again, even after restart
EDIT: it works....

Here is a procedure to cid unlock but does it work for 3.08 at all?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard Windows Mobile 6 for newbies
What about these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=263116
Its required to downgrade to IPL/SPL 1.xx to CID unlock the phone using lokiwiz02b tool, then upgrade to ipl/spl 2.xx for upgrade to any wm6 roms. Read and try to do the method correctly as instructed here in this guide :-
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...0for newbies
Although,it sometimes becomes quite difficult to downgrade from ipl/spl 3.08,but its possible. You can also download the official carrier's rom and flash to downgrade to first ipl/spl 2.xx and then onward flash the Button's Rom 1.05 to downgrade to ipl/spl 1.xx and apply lokiwiz02b to unlock.its better to decrease downgrade step wise, 3.08-----> 2.xx-----> 1.xx.
You'll find all the roms/tools and instruction in the above link.
Goodluck
**** i have tried to downgrade to Button ROM but it finished on99% with an error. Now my Phone boots with tri color and reboots after a few sec.
Any suggestions for me?
Download and flash the official rom or you can try xda_minis_launch.
Good luck

hi
i used uspl to flash dutties 3.9
part of that process was changing spl to 1.56
i now need to do a warrenty claim for orange and want to flash the stock orange rom
what are the first things i need to do to downgrade the spl from 1.56 to the old version?
thanks
just flash an official htc english rom and hope that orange don't notice
go on the orange site and download the latest rom for you phone from it. I had to do the same thing for my diamond

i've put the phone in bootloader mode, and spl is showing as 1.54,
how do i get it to show the older version
I've looked at crackwhores guide, but it doesn't say anything about downgrading with uspl method

i gave up looking
i'm still trying to figure out how to change spl from 1.54 to a previous version to take the older orange rom
HELP
ok i'm a bit further on but things aren't good
i flashed an orange 1.19 rom which i found in the wiki
however, the colors on the screen are very poor (16 colors)
i think this is because the SPL on the phone is 1.54, and i then flashed an old rom ?
HOW CAN I REVERT THE SPL? (or am i barking up the wrong tree?)
this is urgent now, PLEASE HELP

I read in here that you dont need to use USPL or HSPL just run the original ROM
I was just wondering if anyone in Australia has tested this new ROM on their HD2 device as I'm interested in experiences people are having with it. I got a response back from HTC that says the included versions are as follows:-
OS Version:
5.2.21869
Manila Version:
2.5.20121431.1
ROM Version:
1.72.841.0
Radio Version:
2.07.51.22.2
Protocol Version:
15.32.50.070
HTC claim that it improves SMS messenging and improves the overall touch responsiveness and software lag on the device. Can anyone confirm as I'd like to know before I make the effort to upgrade/reinstall everything. I'm also hoping phone reception and bluetooth audio has been improved in the Radio version upgrade included in this ROM.

Can't really comment on this as it did not stay on my HD2 long enough for me to find out. I can however tell you that you cannot flash HSPL from this rom. It sets your SPL to 1.66 which HSPL2 cannot seem to deal with. I had to downgrade to the older rom version and then run HSPL1.
Why do want all that terrible telstra bloat? I can tell you your phone will run much faster without it.
I don't want all the Telstra bloat, I hate it. I was encouraged when I saw the message from HTC that all carrier customisations would be removed after upgrading the ROM
If I don't go with this HTC ROM, what custom ROM do you recommend? I assume Energy?

just to correct you slightly, HSPL2 wont work on any telstra, nothing to do with the spl version, it is the telstra model ID that fails hspl2.
You are correct about HSPL needing 1.42.0000 to install though.
Personal Choice

I like Energy but there are quite a few other roms out there. ROMs are such a personal choice. What works best for me may not be to your taste. Try a few and see how you go, Most of the chefs in here have been around for quite a while and are very experienced in cooking so you really can't go wrong. Just don't forget to HSPL your phone first and read the ROM threads regarding which radio rom will work best with their ROM.

Ahhhh, thanks for the correction and enlightenment. I had a feeling it had something to do with the model ID as that is the error message I got when trying HSPL2. Sneaky Telstra bastards....
Ditto the problem with this new Telstra update, I had the same problem. It changes the SPL so to 1.66.0000 which will block any attempt to use another ROM or HSPL. Revert back to 1.48 and you'll be OK.

if you plan on flashing cooked roms, but want to try the 1.66 update before hand, you can install HSPL first, and then when you run the .exe shipped rom (over USB), it will only change the rom and the radio, leaving HSPL installed.

Thank you very much for the info! I got the telstra model. Unfortunately, I had upgraded the ROM officially to SPL1.66. And now I cannot use either HSPL or HSPL2 to flash the device!
Can you please tell me how to revert the SPL to a older version that I can use HSPL?? Thank you very much!!!!

My device originally had SPL1.42 on it. I did not flash to HSPL. And I upgraded to SPL 1.66 by flashing an telstra official rom, which brong me a SPL 1.66. And now I am stuck because I cannot use HSPL or HSPL2 to flash the SPL. Could you please tell me how to revert the SPL to an older version (1.42) then I could use HSPL to flash it again??? Thank you very much!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just realized that I could use the SPL revert procedure to revert the SPL
Uninstallation
Only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
All I need now its theolder Telstra ship ROM with SPL 1.42. I went to htc/australia wedsite, And they only have the new ROM available for download. Is there a place to download the older ship ROM?? Thank a lot!

This is easy, you just need to flash the older Telstra rom version that uses SPL 1.42.0000. The rom you are looking for is 1.49.841.1 and I think you can download it from HTCPedia. Just ensure it is the Telstra version. Flashing this will ovewrite your current 1.66 SPL back to the correct 1.42 SPL. When you have done this you can use HSPL version 1 and it will work. I know because I did it myself a few days ago
Correct. There is a telstra 1.49 (1.48?) rom floating about, several people have used it to downgrade. Start searching!
Feeling kind

I was also told my HD2 was locked to Telstra but it was not, (I don't believe any of them are now) I can send you the rom I used if you like? HSPL2 won't work as has been said before but HSPL does.
Another option I used while trying to get the right rom/HSPL working was to use SSPL, this worked great but does not allow you to change the radio, and until you can do that there are a few roms you cant use as they don't get on with the Telstra radio.
ps. I had a lot of similar error messages along the way...
