Twitter App Only Works on Wi-fi!!! - HD2 General

As the title says, after flashing my HD2 from 1.43 to 1.48, my Twitter (which I've just started to use for the first time) only works on wi-fi and not via mobile coverage. Is there a tweek I need to do on the settings or reinstall the app somehow?

Are you on Tmobile ??
Untick Proxy in connections. Sorted it for me..

yes on T-Mobile UK!

I get the same behavior and i don't have proxy enabled. I noticed its random, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and this made me think it might be from twitter but i'm not sure.

Unticking the proxy box did not work for me. I took my HD2 into a t-mobile shop at lunch and they said the only way to fix this was to revert to factory settings! Maybe it's time to try a cooked ROM...

Slow dns resolution over EDGE

For the past month or so, resolving pages in IE has been painfully slow. When I type in a website, it takes at least 30 seconds for the page to begin to download. After the page is resolved, I get the normal edge rates ~90kps, but initially getting the page to come up is the problem. I don't have this issue over wifi. I'm using the 2.24.10.1 WWE rom on an 8125 and wap.cingular. In the gprs settings I have "use server settings" for the dns. Any suggestions appreciated...
I'm using the DNS servers found on www.openDNS.com and PIE loads much faster.. doesn't say "locating..." on the bottom for more than .5 of a second.
Check this out for more info http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=50806

Awesome, that made things a lot faster! I wonder what kind of crappy dns servers cingular is running that can get bogged down by requests from meager cell phones! (486s running windows NT 3.5??)
Thanks!!!
amazing
this should be stickied or something...
best thing ive done to my phone so far !!!
internet is way faster now.... its really amazing...
this is a must for everyone.
I have tmobile US and I used the OpenDNS servers and its amazingly faster.
The network used to be that fast with default setting back in the good ole days (aka a few months ago), but something was changed and now networks' DNS resolution is f***ed.
But, thankfully we can assign custom DNS servers and be happy!
I too use the OpenDNS addresses and they work great! I've been using them a while now with zero problems!
is it possible to make a cab to install different dns settings??

I posted a similar problem. Actually I started the post before a meeting and finished and posted it when I got back and then saw this one. Tried it and it seems to have greatly improved things. I put the link to this post in mine so hopefully more people will find it...
how do i change dns servers?
http://www.opendns.com/start/windows_mobile5.php
I had the same issues as well. Couldn't figure it out. Called up Cingular and *****ed. It was pretty fruitless.
Anyway, traditionally, the phones are configured to use wap.cingular as the access point. That's where I had all my problems.
I changed over to isp.cingular, and it worked like a charm. It's still a little slow, but I can live with a second or so to resolve versus the minute plus using wap.cingular.

Ha thanks. For some reason it did a double post with a really long delay. I had allready gone to the site and set up the new dns server by the time it reposted. Thansk anyway though. It worked like a charm.

uhhh... using isp.cingular, you better hope you have a PDA data plan and not just a MEdia Net plan. Otherwise you're going to get raped on charges!
Yep.. I'm on the PDA plan. Sorry, should have mentioned that too..
But, now that it's known it's DNS, I may go back to wap once I'm done flashing the ROM on this thing..
I'm using OpenDNS' dns and it's still not that much better.

You need to reflash your phone with generic firmware

I have flashed my phone with a generic rom (from Vodafone). If I install the WLAN fix cab, will it work? i.e. give me WLAN access for messenger? cos I dont want to screw any of my current settings up! On another point, will it give me WLAN access to emails etc?
Regards,
Alan
it did for me.
it will screw up ur settings a little bit. at least it will set another default connection for internet apps (my isp). but u can easily set it back to the old one.
then it used Wifi if its available. if not it did a GPRS connection for me. no matter what app i used.

Either the phone still has the default Vodafone ROM (in which you can't use Live on Wifi) or you have installed a new generic ROM (which can use Wifi).

The WLAN fix is just a load of registry setting changes, however it's for German Vodafone phone, so you will need to edit the APNs back to the UK ones.

How can i get the messenger to connect when connected to t-mobile internet? I have web'n'walk included and msn not working defeats the object of why i got it! IM Messanger

Hi Folks. I have a problem with my PDA. I use HTC P4531 (Unlocked). I use it on T-Mobile network. Since the PDA is unlocked, I had to manually set up GPRS connection, so that I can send/receive MMS. + I have Mobile Net on my PDA. A T-Mobile version of this phone is T-Mobile Wing. I used to have one before I bought this unlocked device (got an offer on it that I couldn't pass up). The WING has this "OZ Messenger" on it. People who use or used a T-Mo Wing should know what this app is. Anyway, I found a *.cab file of this app, installed it, and it doesn't work for me. Before trying to log on to any networks, I went in to "Connections" and manually turned this connection on. But when I was trying to log on to AIM service, I got a text message saying:
WV11RL1 ST=(200,"Successful") SI=1.1Ax18be29624131ada3809e265da1811866 CI=wv:OZ4121#[email protected] KA=60000
From: 4670
How can I use this application? Again - I have mobile net and I set the connection up for GPRS.
P.S. If you know how to get a certain app to work similar to this one, for a fact, please let me know. Thank You
why dont you just use something other than that like Palringo
T-Mobile OZ Communicator
if you want to try something else i suggest Pigeon.
It doesn´t need much RAM and works stable.

Hi people. I don't think you guys get this.
I DO NOT HAVE/USE T-MOBILE WING!! I HAVE/USE an unlocked HTC P4351 (Physically the same thing as T-Mo Wing). Not The Same SOFTWARE as T-Mo Wing though!! I can't just connect to anything without setting up a connection first!!

Huh????????
Palringo (the one that you quoted) uses a Data Plan. So, you could use that on your phone, IF you have a respectable data plan through your carrier.
And then the T-Mobile OZ Communicator, that might work on your phone. It's worth a try. OZ Communicator works without a data plan, and through SMS.

The thing is, OZ is installed, but when I run it and try to log on to AIM network (or any other), it DOESN'T turn on my GPRS connection. I strongly believe I need to set it up!! My MMS wasn't set up neither, I found instructions on the net and manually added the connection for it to use. I think this needs the same!!

N O!! Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! When it is installed on a T-Mo Wing, when you try to log on to AIM (to take this network as an example) on the T-Mo Wing - it turns on some "GPRS" connection, and signs on.
For me - I don't have that GPRS connection set up for anything else other then for MMS (I configured this connetion MYSELF), so when I try to log on to any of the networks - it doesn't turn anything on.
Take MMS, when you try to send a MMS message, it also turns some "GPRS" connection on - I don't believe it’s the same connection. I don't have "GPRS" connection set up for this kind of stuff!! I need to set up an addition one, and to turn on automatically as soon as I try to log on using this OZ Communicator.
I don't think it’s the same connection as for MMS, I turned it manually on, and tried to log in with this OZ Communicator, and it didn't do anything. Another possibility is - I don't have the right OZ Messenger (not intended for HTC). Some other *.cab file I found here.

open opera, on the adress bar write "opera:config", scroll down till proxy settings, check "use http" and on empty space near "http" write the ip of your proxy server (es. 245.244.243.100). save and it's done.

Lost T-Mobile UK data settings HTC HD2

Hi can anyone help. Just put 1.66 ROM into my HD2 all is well apart from no internet connection available. Does anyone have the correct setings for T-Mobile UK internet and data use? Thought this would be a new dawn for my phone now I can't even check emails or get weather updates. I'm gutted. HELP!!!
remove your SIM/SD card and do a hard reset. turn it on with them still removed and set it up. put your SIM card in a it should ask you to choose your provider and install the correct settings. if not, you'll have to get T-Mobile to SMS them to you
settings menu all settings connections connection setup
does that work?
also, in start menu there is usually an icon your sim card puts there to get settings.
access point: general.t-mobile.uk
username: user
password: pass
thats contract settings for t-mobile.

Had the same problem,
Try
Start--->menu---> full menu ---->settings----> connections---->connection setup.
Auto settings puts in a proxy server for t-mobileUK (well mine does sometimes). No idea why!
Remove the check to use proxy and all OK.

That means that you are not trying to access sites or functions that dislike the proxy being enabled. When it is enabled the t-mobile proxy dictates what you can and cannot access. Try an ftp transfer with the proxy on!
