HTML Email on HD2 - HD2 General

Hi All,
Is there any way of getting full html support for email on HD2?
Cheers

Uhm... could you detailt up a little bit?
there is 100% full support of html e-mails on HD2...

I think he means, that embedded pictures are not shown instantly. Thats not a lack or bug its just for your safety because some kind of malware is using this way to srew you up
Therefore you always have to click on "show blocked images" or whatever it says....

Well actually, I really like that feature since I would find it rather bad if my phone would start downloading lots and lots of kbytes with information on bulky newsletters...
I never tried this, but it could help: try setting up a larger value for the maximum download limit: thus you can allow larger e-mail to be completely downloaded automatically.
I admit I've never tried this, since I am actually fond of the default 2KB maximum limit!
Good luck!

That doesn't change the default action of not downloading images. You still need to click the link to do that.

You're wrong.
In the Message download limit combo box (drop down list), there are the following options:
- 2KB
- 5KB
- 20KKB
- 50KB
- All text, no pictures
- Headers only
- Entire message
Guess what happens when you select 'Entire message'...

If you use an Exchange accout, you'll have less options available. However, the 'Entire message' option is available, so no need to worry.
But if we got here, please keep in mind that Exchange 2003 doesn't offer HTML support across ActiveSync, with Windows Mobile (stupidity, I call it, for it works perfectly with iPhones!).
If you want HTML over ActiveSync, you should contact your server admin. and suggest him upgrading to Exchange 2007 (or even 2010 ).

You're so sarcastic that it is annoying. Every time I've come across you on these forums you have to attack in a VERY sarcastic way. STOP doing this.
You said, "I never tried this, but it could help: try setting up a larger value for the maximum download limit" Have you now tried "setting up a larger value for the maximum download limit" in order to try and help the OP, or did you decided that you'd rather just try bashing me.
"setting up a larger value for the maximum download limit" DOES NOT DOWNLOAD THE IMAGES.
Stop being so rude - these forums have a lot of long-standing and very friendly users. The best way to get on in here is to try and be the same.

Sorry for any misunderstandings. However, did it help?

Go to the Inbox of any accout -> click on the menu key (right soft) -> on the pop-up menu, select Tools>Options... -> choose an account to edit
Now, if you try to edit a GMail or Yahoo account (or probably any other account, except for the Exchange one), you can select Download Size Settings. You'll have the settings there.
For the Exchange account, when editing, click Next (on the Edit server settings screen), then Next again (on the User Info screen), then select E-mail, click the Settings button. You'll have there the 'Download size limit' option, just like in the other accout types.
Hope it helps!

This is a per account setting, the list in on the last page of the settings.
The same one where you decide if you want your mails in HTML or plain text format.
At leats that's where it is for IMAP and POP accounts (I don't have any hot mail account, and I don't sync my exchange accoubnt so I dont' know for these two)

Yeah - found it now. I've got a hotmail account (you don't have this option on there, same as exchange accounts), and a gmail account. I found it in the gmail one. Thanks.

Sorry - my bad. I misread your post above.

how to view full (overview) email in one screen
Sometime we receive email in HTML format with some images, the email client does load them but can not view everything in one screen (if you know what I mean... it is like Opera to view full screen of a web page).
Is there anyway to tweak it to work this way? Rather than scroll to right and down. Afterall we can pinch to zoom in.

#1 - Is there a way to create backups to the SD card? I saw something when I formatted the phone about restoring from SD, what is that?
#2 - What do you guys have your g-mail sync set to? All? 33 days? Is there a way to set it to sync just like 33 days but then search the archive if I archive things older? If I sync ALL is that going to really slow it down?
Thanks!
#1: yes, you can back-up your data in some way to your SD and then restore it
#2: Don't know if you can search the archive (i suppose not, at least not with the Vodafone-Italy ROM) and sync all may and may not slow down. It depends on how many entries you got into calendar (you were talking about calendar, right?) and how fast is your connection. I use only wi-fi over my ADSL connection so sync takes really few seconds. From the point of view of Android overall speed, i have almost one hundred entries and i've noticed no sensible slow-down.
Hoping this helps.

Ops... sorry... my misread... On my Magic there isn't any configuration about how many days go behind when syncing email nor i can found any setting on the server. GMail client reads first 10 emails from the server then, when i scroll down, it reads next 10 and so on. If i perform a search it search in all emails on the server.

It isn't under notifications. I do the following:
Gmail -> Menu -> Settings -> Labels
The number of days to sync is the "default" (which you customize) but each label (inbox, sent, etc.) can be set to ALL or a custom or the default.

I wish i had something to add... but unfortunately.. i'm also someone who has interest in this question.... anyone?
Yeah I too am interested in knowing this
I too use gmail
It has a push email server option.
It has the facility to import mail & contacts from numerous other accounts.
If your regular account is a gmail (or gmail 'family', ie Sky) account, you can forward mail from it to your gmail push email account.
This way I have a 'one stop shop' single push email account on my HD2 for my numerous email accounts. Can reply from the received account too.
I have set the option to also leave collected mail on the original server.
Have been using it faultlessly for a year.

Have read your post many times. I thought I had answered it!
Push email is delivered to your device as soon as it arrives in your server's mailbox. AUTOMATICALLY
this thread is quite comical - it seems many of us are interested in this - however people are answering it with either a totally different subject or actually not answering at all.
@RalphS - to be fair, you didn't answer it at all. We all know the email is SUPPOSE to arrive automatically once the Gmail servers or Hotmail servers pick it up, however it is not being pushed to the phone AUTOMATICALLY. You have to set a schedule for it which by default is to check every two hours unless you change it. It is NOT being PUSHED.
This is the point and also the reason "ariel123" posted a very common question most here would like a solution to.
Reading the question would avoid confusion. Clearly you did not understand the question despite "reading it amny times" - bottom line, no, you didn't answer it!

It would be easier to answer the question if the OP asked it in clear English using correct grammar and spelling. It's a bit difficult to answer something that appears to be written by a child who expects help from mind readers.
The first post certainly did seem to be asking about push email which explains why people have offered gmail as a suggestion. However, the OP's subsequent posts seem to be about downloading entire emails rather than just headers. If this is the case (and it's impossible to be certain given the lack of legible detail in the posts) then do the following if you're using Exchange or EAS:
- Click on Start>Tools>Activesync.
- Click on Menu>Options, select your exchange server and click on Settings.
- Click on Next twice, select Email and then click on Settings.
- Select Entire Message from the Download size limit combo and tick the Include file attachments option.
- Click on OK and then click on Finish.
It has been properly answered - seriously.
My incoming mail is PUSHED to my mobile AUTOMATICALLY in REAL TIME WITHOUT A SCHEDULE.
Notification of the previous post arrived, of it's own accord, @ 14:15.
I do not have my own mail server. I rely solely on the Gmail exchange server to SEND to me my incoming mail, in their entirety, PUSHED in real time, collected from my numerous accounts, all for free.
In my 1st post I gave the link on how to set up for push email.

cannot see full inbox. only 25 show...help?

hey guys. i cannot seem to find how to view my whole inbox in the email application. i only see 25 emails.. i use gmail. any ideas?
Slide to the email screen. Click Menu>Sync options. It defaults to downloading just the last week's worth of emails. Make changes on this page to get more emails to show.
i don`t have the SYNC option you are refering to...for some reason it does not show. Is this the direct path? Menu/Sync ?
Yes when I click Menu one of my choices is Sync Options. Are you using active sync to sync the gmail?
start, tools, activesync, menu, options, highlight email, klick settings below, and change the number/timespan of emails to download (first dropdownmenu)

Email, "get the rest of this message"....

I am annoyed of this, when I open an email...any email... it always says "get the rest of this message (_ _ k)"...I would like it to download the whole email right away (or at least I would like to know how to set it up to do so).... I did this :
Start -> E-mail -> Menu -> Options -> Tap an account to change settings - > Download size settings -> Message download limit -> Entire message
and it still seems to not download the entire message...
Are you using pop or imap email access? At least with IMAP it downloads the headers first, then the content, so you have to give it a minute or so if you've got a lot of email coming in.
Another setting to check is how many days worth of email to get - maybe it doesn't download "too old" emails as standard.
I dont have that problem. But, i will say that the email feature on windows phones (not specifically the HD2) needs alot of work. I mean,to be honest, its not REALLY finger friendly now is it?
"tap to scroll" "download images" i mean, come on.......

which e-mail provider are you using?
Some e-mail (like google for instance) will have settings that will allow you to access your e-mail via the outlook exchange server settings on your phone. This will allow your provider to push entire e-mails as they arrive.
Would be nice to have a more user friendly email app, wouldn't it ?

This is another gripe I had.... I was wondering is there any other email alternatives that actually work nicely with our phone...
see I compare things to the iPhone here n there because that was my last phone I had (and I had it since it first came out mind you so that is about 3 years)...so at least the iPhone had a decent email app (from what I could see)..it was user friendly and did not require alot of maneuvers to load/reload/check emails...
Now I am using Yahoo and Gmail, for those of you who asked....now it seems as though it is working correctly now (in regards to loading the whole email that is)....but as I just mentioned in the previous paragraph -I would like to see if there are any other good email apps for the HD2, does not have to be anything fancy even as long as it works nice n smooth and is user friendly... so instead of having to make a new thread or something maybe we could figure that one out here ? IDK, please advise me...

My Emails won't download everything...

How do I make sure that every time sense UI downloads my emails from gmail, that it download the entire email? I hate it when I have to click "Get the Rest of the Message" to read it all.
I like to download the entire email because when I leave the house I have no Wifi to re-download them.

you probably dont have that problem because your emails are never long enough. being a busy business person, my emails are always long and detailed.
Can anyone help me?
I have the same problem. even though I check off "entire message" I still don't see the html pcitures in the mail unless I click download" in the message.
do some search. its not possible to download pics immediately --> safety feature of winmo you cant disable.

same problem mate
i checeked settings and nothing
have to choose download manully and then it says it will download on the next sync....grrrrr (my email syncs every 60 minutes)
And once more (as there are already douzens of threads about this):
For "normal" POP3/IMAP-Accounts: Email-Tab, Inbox, Menü, Extras, Options, Click Mail Account, Settings for DownloadSize (dont know how its called in EN)
For ASync: Open ASync, Menu, Options, Mark Email, Settings, DownloadSize
BUT AGAIN: You wont be able to download html-integrated pictures of the Mail immediately as it is a safetyfeature of WinMob !
