Is there a simple way to completely disable all data services?
I'm going to be traveling out of the country for a few days and need to keep the phone on for international voice roaming but completely disable all data services so I don't get a whopping bill.
Any way to do that on the N1?
as far as I know, you can choose settings>accounts & sync settings and uncheck the background data option. You can still use your data-enabled apps but they just won't do stuff automagically?
This is basically what I did when I was roaming overseas.
Data Roaming is usually off by default... But you can check here:

aha.... yes. that's definitely the best way: settings>mobile networks>data roaming
There's a "Toggle Data" widget available that might be what you're looking for.

So was keeping network data on at all times in developer options there before or is that with marshmallow? Can't say I remember it being there but may have overlooked.

Could be preparation for data while calling? Idk

Well they claim it's too faster switch between data connections. It seems to increase download speeds a bit but that could be a placebo effect.
Are you on latest ota? It has a feature were it will connect and disconnect between networks for better speeds.
Out of no where, one day I just wanted to check something on my data usage section in settings and as soon as that page loaded it just froze and I could only open recent apps and swipe it away. I can use everything else in settings just fine but only data usage is causing problems. (I set a data limit and if I reach it it's gonna block my access until start of the next data cycle)
So far I've tried clearing settings app cache, wiping cache partition, stopping some settings-related services from app manager (not sure how effective that should be if at all.. I'm not android savvy.) it's the G935FD version.
I'm trying to avoid full system reset at all costs.
Appreciate your time and efforts,
Thanks.

It seems that he does have internet connection since in the 2nd pic he has 3g. Try changing apn. Or take out the sim and use a different one. If the other sim works then it may be an issue with the carrier blocking his services. He can also try updating his phone to the latest version.
Try deleting some apps as well, start with the ones recently downloaded or updated. Some apps may interfere with the software or connection.
If it still won't work backup the phone and do a full reset
When I first got this phone, I took my Verizon SIM card out of my old phone and it worked like a charm. Then I upgraded to 8.0, and did the Easy Root in this forum.
Now I have no data. I have phone calls and text messaging but no data. I've tried changing access points, etc but nothing. Whether I use GLOBAL, CDMA OR GSM.
Can anyone explain what I missed?
Ps- along the top, in my status bar, the "Vo)) LTE" icon is bright white, "4GLTE" icon is displayed but greyed out and I have full signal.
Try that apn name

Not sure if this has been asked before, but is there a way with root access one can add the 4G/LTE Only and 3G Only options under the 'Preferred network type' menu.
I know you can use the codes to force LTE only but I would like a way to add them as official menu options.

Install a custom AOSP based ROM They have all the different radio networks built-in. Sorry, I know this doesn't really help you on stock but I figured I'd let you know anyway.
*#*#4636#*#*
About as custom as you can get without custom rom.
