how to set up yahoo mail using WiFi?
it always say "username or password is incorrect"
still saying username or password incorrect.
you need to activate yahoo pop services first (google it). pop is working now but stmp still not working.
Since by default yahoo does not provide pop service.
1. sign in your yahoo account.
2. click the following address to activate the pop3 service,
http://rd.yahoo.com/mail_us/options...pfwd?src=ym&.done=http://us.f93.mail.yahoo.co m/ym/Options?YY=22797
3. following the instruction there.
4. set up in nexus one
pop3: pop.mail.yahoo.com
port: 995
security: SSL
stmp: stmp.mail.yahoo.com
port: 465
security: SSL
i can only receive email , but can not send out

Thanks, Works fine over both cellular and wifi with the latest CM (5.0.6.1)
Or install Seven, and have push Yahoo email using a free standard yahoo account.

me too!
i've tried everything i know...please help
Hotmail is not natively supported through the PocketPC POP3 interface. There is apparently a beta program available from these forums which has worked for some.
Personally I would recommend HTTPMail provider 1.0 which has many fans and at only $5.00 seems like a good solution.

on incoming and outgoing, i used MAIL.MSN.COM
on both, even tho its a hotmail account
i seem to sync ok with that
but i cant seem to send, i presume the outgoing is something other that what i have
but atleast, i can download all my hotmails
Check Forum
If you check this forum you will find a very good thread about USING HOTMAIL, from only a few days back then you will find that you have to download and intall a hotmail patch so you can use a hotmail through a pop3 accounts. it also discribes how to set-up your hotmail account
I have done it and works perfect, easy to send and easy to receive
Works for me
How do i set up my yahoo email manually on The Dudes build.
Go to email app and add your acct.
For manual setup:

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com")
Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., [email protected])
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

If you don't have yahoo plus you can set it up for the free version of yahoo mail with these:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.mobile.yahoo.com (use authentication)
Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com")
Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., [email protected])
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password
Im guess that maybe the client sends information about itself and yahoo is somehow rejecting it. Currently those settings dont work. Also smtp.mail.mobile.yahoo.com doesnt resolve, but smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com does.
these arent workin for me
Has anyone figured out why this only works via network and not WiFi?
nevermind.....

I was able to get it to work, but for some reason, when I'm on the screen that lists all my email accounts, it says my yahoo email has 2 new emails, although there isn't any new emails to be read. Anybody else have this problem?

I'm on Rogers, so my guess is it will work with any carrier.
It's giving me the "Username or password incorrect. ()" error on Incoming settings and "Username or password incorrect. (AUTH PLAIN failed (535 authentication failed (#5.7.0)))" error on Outgoing settings. I double-checked that my credentials are good by signing off and re-logging to Yahoo mail. Just to note that I don't have Yahoo Plus.
Edit: Nevermind, it works. Apparently this doesn't work over Wifi, only over the mobile network. I knew there was a reason I ditched Yahoo in favor of GMail all those years ago!
worked for me on my at&t htc tytn. wm6.1
I needed to set the port numbers.
smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com:25
Guys it keeps telling me username or password incorrect? i know they are correct?? i tried doing the manual setup and to no avail .. it used to work automatically before flashing to cm rom
EDIT seems that yahoo.com is down for me .. WTF owell will try tomorrow
Hi, I have atutorial in spanish with screenshots on My website if anyone is interested http://www.dgtallika.com/2009/07/como-usar-yahoo-mail-en-tu-g1-my-touch-hero/ and maybe for the non spanish speaking all images are in english so you can give it a try! Hope it helps
Try these settings:
Server Settings
Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 995
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication
Account Name/Username: [email protected]
Email address: [email protected]
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password
Note: if it doesn't work, then log onto ur yahoo account, then change the regional settings to Yahoo! Asia
It works great for me on wifi
the same thing kept happening to me after i put the cm rom on my mytouch. heres what i did and it finally worked
input the sign in info and select manual setup
choose the imap account
username:[email protected]
password:******
imap server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
port:143
smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
port:25
This did it for me
I did not choose ssl but added ":465" to the smtp server
so to recap
plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com - incoming
plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465 - outgoing
no ssl just authentication
Don
I have been trying to forward my hotmail emails to gmail without any success. Anyway I was reading that hotmail now offers pop3 which is something you had to pay for before. So I entered these settings into the HTC pop3 widget and what do you know it works
POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example [email protected]
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25 or 587) -----(I used 587 as 25 didn't work)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes ----(Change to TLS on the second page)
Sorry if you peeps already new this but I’m sure there are some others who were having problems getting their hotmail account working.
I had a feeling that maybe it was really easy, but my account wouldn't automatically setup. Maybe because I had a @hotmail.co.uk account ????
I was wondering why there wasn't any info on any of the threads. I was originally concentrating on forwarding to gmail as that is what I did for a mates iphone last year but the free forwarding tick seems to have changed
Sign up for momail and all your problem will be solved. All mail will go to one account.
If Hotmail doesn't forward to gmail (hmm why would Microsoft, the owner of Hotmail, not allow this? ...) you could also set gmail to auto-download new messages via POP.
Don't settle for pop3, when IMAP works with talk21 and not only does mail get pushed out faster with IMAP, but when you click refresh it will be received faster than pop3.
The other advantage is subfolders are also supported with IMAP but cant be seen with POP3.
This mail feature works with my android eclair & hero phone and the settings are exactly the same for win mobiles also (not tested). The mail setting up roadmap is the same from what i can remember once in the mail feature for win mobi.
This is what you need to do to setup Talk21 email with IMAP.
Incoming server settings
IMAP server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 143
Security type - none
Outgoing Server settings
SMTP server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 25
Security type - none
Also important note - Enable 'require sign-in'
and enter your talk21 username and password
The End...works a treat for me
p.s. Its only taken me 3 years to work it out with win mobile and recently with android. Finally got it to work...hope this helps all the talk21 users out there. if there are any other similar posts out there with no answer...dont forget to mention my name when passing this post around.
RichPie and Tej2020 are both right. Thanks for those posts on the differing forums.
I also found though that some of the older talk21 accounts no matter if you follow those instructions still don't validate the username.
Solution:
Login to your BT Yahoo email account with your [email protected] username and password.
Go to settings and forward your mail (temporarily) to another email account.
You will get a verification email in that account for security.
You'll probably see that the username is not [email protected] but [email protected]
Now here's the trick.
Go back to your BT Yahoo email.
Don't forget to disable the forwarding of email (otherwise you'll never get any new emails in this account).
Logout.
Now try logging in as [email protected] and your usual password.
Same account right?
Follow RichPie's instructions (below) for allowing the email to be POP'ed.
1./ Log into you talk21.com account:
options
Mail options
POP3 & Forwarding
click on "allow forwarding"
Save.
Now in your phone setup your email with
Setting up the mail use these:
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - mail.btinternet.com
Port - 110
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - mail.btinternet.com
Port - 25
and crucially, the username and password must be [email protected] with your password as this seems to be a migrated username/password combination on the migration of the talk21 accounts into Yahoo and is a popp'able account.
This should work.
Yahoo POP3 transfer needs one to have a premium account (paid account) which many of us don't have. I couldn't find much information on the forum so I decided to post the setting in case someone else is looking for similar details. Sorry if this has been previously discussed.
1) From Application menu click on Email
2) Click on left button(settings) and click Add account
3) After you are done putting you information for username and password in, click on Manual Setup
4) Click on IMAP
5) For IMAP server: imap.mail.yahoo.com - Port: 143 leave the rest alone
6) For SMTP server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com - Port 587 leave the rest as they are.
7) Follow the steps per your preferences and you are done!
I hope I could help a bit.
Yahoo.com does that, Yahoo.(other country) will have pop3 access automatically.

Hi, I managed to sort out my yahoo mail. It is however for *@yahoo.co.uk
Note that I'm on the regular Yahoo mail, not Plus or anything paid. However I am on the new yahoo interface as opposed to classic.
1. Log into your yahoo mail and click on "options" on the far right area of your screen
2. Select "More Options..."
3. Click on "Pop and Forwarding" on the left menu
4. Ensure "Allow your Yahoo Mail to be POPed" is selected.
Ok now onto your phone settings (change yahoo.co.uk to *.com where applicable).
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk (use authentication, optionally use port 587)
Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com")
Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g. [email protected])
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password
Hope it helps
