Hi don't know if you have all heard but just seen this at Modaco.
"Just spotted an interesting piece of news thanks to the folks over at PocketNow. Yesterdays announcement regarding HTC's latest update for the HD2, which fixed an issue with showing/hiding SIM contacts, turns out to have more behind it.
According to PocketNow, after applying the update, it looks like the Radio on the HD2 has been upgraded to 2.06.51.07. I have not applied the update on my HD2 yet, but ill get around to it this weekend to see what it offers. It will take a couple of days to see if there is any change in Phone, Data, WiFi, GPS or Battery life."
Am I right in thinking that this will reset the device? as in Hard reset?
Would a restore work after the event?

Hotfixes do not require a hard reset - just a soft one.
In actual fact, hotfixes must be reapplied after a hard reset, unless of course you've just flashed a ROM that includes said hotfixes.
No it doesnt hard reset the phone. Not tried it yet since the update didnt bother me, but i might to see what happens.
It must be a ROM modification because it needs RUU, which most updates dont.
Just tried.... on o2 HD2
Got this...
I have just looked and it is a ruu.exe rather than cab so that will explain why the radio is getting updated.
Only full rom updates will wipe your HD2 so this should be fine as it is only doing radio and few other bits.
Cheers
Dean
Can confirm that it is an radio update, it not hidden becuse it says Radio on rom version when you install.

Yes it's because it's a o2 phone rather than sim free unlocked.
There is a hard spl out now which if flash that on your hd2 then you will be able to flash any rom and radio updates from any source including cooked roms.
Cheers

Sorry but... this is what this update says to me....
It will delete all the info on my phone!

I think thats a generic RUU message, when I flashed the radio on my Diamond I saw that message even though it didn't.
Still, never hurts to backup!
It won't do a hard reset !

It flashes fine, you do not lose anything! Working 100% on my UK SIM Free stock 1.43ROM.
So what is the advantage to this radio update?

On a whim, I would say improved signal and reduced power consumption - but time will tell how effective it is.
Earpiece sound quality is much much better...thnx god for that.
Can this update be made without a PC?

no, its an RUU, it has to run from a computer

I'd stick with the OTA update and its radio update. There aren't any benefits with the unreleased radio update.

That's my point... there's a reason ERE36B hasn't been released OTA yet. Skip it.
I had ERE36B and I had issues. Wifi kept giving me a connection error if I left wifi range and returned. My 3G wasn't as stable. I went back to ERE27 and had no more issues.
My personal experience is that the reception problems are present in ERE27 and ERE36B. But, I just pull the *#*#4636#*#* menu and set it for 3G only. I have 3G everywhere I go, so it works for me. And, I do get faster data with ERE36B.
I got no connection problems at all ...
Have 4.03.00.21_2 (I think it´s not the newest radio though..)
Edit: jst updated to latest one, found at modaco site..
Another Thread?
Well, the newest radio is EPE54B or something like that..
but it's the same as ERE36B
Apparently the AT&T N1's come with the latest leaked radio...EPE54B.
so does that mean that my tmobile nexus one will be getting a radio update soon?

Well that's hard to say, but eventually we should for the tmob frequencies.
I got a message this morning from T-mo about a new update for my HD2 this morning. I'm assuming this is an update for winmo 6.5.5 with sense direct from t-mo and they want me to upgrade since im using NRGZ28s 6.5.1 (?) rom. Anyone else get this this morning? and if so, did you upgrade and what did it do?

It's actually a regular update for 6.5, and it was officially released almost 2 weeks ago...it just looks like they're notifiying owners who haven't yet gone and downloaded it. Tmo doesn't know what ROM you're running right now, they just know you haven't logged in with your phone's IMEI to get the upgrade yet.
There's quite a number of threads in this section already regarding the upgrade and it's effects...be sure to read up on them before deciding if you want to run it or not. It's certainly not mandatory
thanks, i'll just wait for NRGZ28 to come out with the update
Yeah I got the SMS too. Fortunately my phone is not giving me any problem so I'm updating it.
I got the text as well, but I already updated my phone like 2 weeks ago.

yeah I believe that he and other chefs are already working on ones using the new 2.13 base..so those are the numbers to keep your eyes open for
Sorry for being ignorant here, but I also got the text this morning and the link brought me to a place where I could upgrade to ROM 2.13 which I already have.
There was a Winmo upgrade? I am assuming this is separate from the ROM upgrade? If so...where do I get this?

There's no other upgrade than the one you already have.
The upgrade was the 2.13 BASE; I checked it also, because I got the same text. The files match nothing new (if you already got the 2.13) Most of the cooks have gone that direction as pointed out above.
Thanks! Have a great day!
Thanks for the quick responses.
I guess I always think of a ROM flash as a firmware upgrade and not a software upgrade and find the verbiage confusing.
I have a factory unlocked n1 that ive only owned for about 3 months.
I noticed its still on FRG83 (not the latest FRF91).
Will I have to do anything special to get the 2.3 update? (Im in the UK if that makes a difference).
FRG83D is the latest, not FRF91.

Thanks, it came up with 'check in succeeded', but nothing else (this was 5 mins ago).
I take it that it doesnt matter that the nexus one wasnt ever offered on my network (o2 uk), and the phone actually polls google servers?
It doesn't matter at all, just have to wait patiently, or force it (as above).

Can't you just update using the link provided above?
Im in the uk, running FRG83D and expecting the 2.3 update today. (also on o2)
Could it be my simcard? It works with 3g but its quite old still...
Also do I need to register my IMEI or anything?
Rest of the phone says this.
Code:
android version
2.2.1
baseband version
32.50.00.32u_5.12.00.08
kernel version
2.6.32.9-ge9111ea

build number
FRG83

You've got a weird kernel there? And the Korean baseband... my guess is your phone has had the KT FRF91 passimg flashed at some point, which would explain your lack of update.
That is very weird!
Are there any instructions on how to flash the kernel and baseband back to UK defaults?
Also what is the KT FRF91 passimg about, is it anything dodgy / something I should be concerned about?
Edit: I sent my phone to HTC last week and it's come back with a different IMEI...i guess that explains the korean part.
It's not really dodgy, or anything to worry about, it was an easy way for European N1 owners to update to Froyo without unlocking the bootloader back in the day. It does mean you'll lag behind with updates though.
I don't think you'll be able to get back to the proper Google firmware without rooting/unlocking your bootloader due to the 0.35 HBOOT (you can check if you have this or not by turning the phone off, holding in the tackball and powering on, the second line will say either HBOOT-0.33.0012 or HBOOT-0.35.0017).
Ive got the Hboot 0.35.0017 on FRG83D, i got the FRG83 -> FRG83D OTA update when everyone else did. I dont think this is his problem
It's not a problem as such, but it will prevent downgrading to get onto the Google version.
Ok its says HBOOT 35.0017.
If i root the bootloader, can I then flash my way back to 'Default' kernels / radios?
Yes, easily, you might not even have to wipe it in fact.
You use fastboot to flash the system.img and boot.img from the FRG33 image on shipped-roms.
Ok thats great, thanks for all your help.
Just to re-cap, install android sdk / fastbook on my pc, then flash boot.img then system.img from FRG33?
Exactly, although I lied, you will have to wipe.
I forgot that unlocking automatically wipes the phone.
I am located in China. I got a system update notification few days ago.
I did the upgrade without backup. After upgrade
Android version: 2.2.1
software release: 1.84.707.xxx
Unfortunately, the peer could not hear the voice in the phone call.
I did the factory reset, the problem is still the same.
Does someone know where I can find the official ROM?
By the way, my device is rooted.

Look in the RUU thread if there is your chinese build.
Hi guys,
I walshed my SFR Omnia 7 to version 7390 and now I am waiting my jig's arrival.
Since I "forced" the update, I haven't been able to put my phone neither on Samsung's download mode nor WP7 Recovery mode.
How should I proceed to get those new updates and my phone back on track?
Thank you very much

Did you try the fix from Walsh's blog?

I have used both Walshed fix software and the samsung software but I still get the same error message when I try to install 7392 in Zune... Anyone has an idea?

Did you check all the languages your phone supports in the Walsh fix?
I only have English (US) so I checked that and it seems the Walsh fix worked fine... Should I try to tick all languages?

Are you sure your phone only supports US English and no other languages? You need to tick all you can possibly choose (not only the one that you are using).
good gosh! There is a major difference between language being used and language supported by the phone... Once i ticked all but the one spanish and tried the update again, IT WORKED!
Thanks for not giving up on me!

Yes if you reflash your phone, it will install the new version and your old/new updated one will be gone including all your data and settings. Will be reset back to factory settings of that version of ROM you just flashed.
Hey guys, I have the same problem, still getting the 80180048 error... I've installed all languages from the walsh fix except for English (UK) and Spanish (Spain-Modern Sort)... I have the Samsung Focus.
From what I'm reading above that is wrong, I need to select all languages except for the Spanish(Spain-International Sort). I did that and I still get the error nor do the languages I've installed change in my settings>Keyboard>Languages...
Have I screwed up by installing wrong the first time? Do I need to re-flash to fix this? If anyone can help me with this I would so much appreciate it.
I've looked everywhere just too find out what the exact languages are too be installed on the Samsung Focus ATT US version and I can't find it anywhere. Can't believe no one has typed this up yet.
Thanks so much for any help.
Anyone still read this?
