Vodafone Promises Nexus One in a Few Weeks...

Lets see if they can offer more than 500mb of data....
can't imagine that to be true seeing how Voda are launching the iphone next week. There's no way they would bring out another smart phone so soon - especially considering that Orange did so well on their release day ...

Well it says "a few weeks"
iPhone next week, N1 2/3 weeks later? Possible.
A "few" will be more like 6 - 7 - 8... Knowing how operators think
actually - considering the guy in the Voda shop told me the nokia n900 is out in Jan for Voda - wonder how that will all pan out.
moto Milestone still has to hit an operator too - surely all the 'super' phones won't come out in jan/feb?
Most ppl don't spend in Jan after the xmas and the jan sales added up ...
---
Makes you think what will be coming out in Nov 2010 - they must be amaaazing!

Noway Vodafone are a rip off.. mine should arrive this afternoon which I will be using on 3 with much more data allowance than Voda.
Plus my other HTC and Samsung android's have been working working flawlessly on 3.

Vodafone aren't really a ripoff, they're possibly the best uk network in terms of connectivity aswell. Although sometimes their deals aren't as good as other networks.
You might be happy with paying £400+ but I know some people (myself included) would be considering it but won't really be able to afford it so getting it presumably for free on a £35 a month contract would be awesome.

Does anyone know how much it would cost though? im assuming we wouldnt be able to buy the phone on its own, and definitely wouldnt be available simfree in the uk if voda is the exclusive carrier, so is it worth it just buying it from google now and then using whichever network we got?
im sure the phone would probably cost more than £400 payg anyway if it was available? im trying to decide whether to buy it now or wait till it comes here? im on vodafone so i dont mind waiting, but i dont think i would be able to get a good deal so a little help/speculation would be cool. thanks
Vodafone aren't selling the device, Google are and are providing Vodafone airtime, so expect the phone out in weeks.
Whether the price plans will be worth it is another matter.

hmm, good point. Im not sure what to do. i suppose il try and restrain myself and wait and see what happens when it comes out here. its always better to wait for the reviews and decide then if its worth it after the initial issues are ironed out. But my heros battery life is ridiculously poor so will see how long i can hold out.
thanks for the reply.

They are at the moment but who knows? It might be avaliable in vodafone stores. Google didn't say that google.com/phone would be the ONLY way to get a N1.
Would it not be possible to get an image of the EU rom and install in on our phones?!

Might indeed, however when the contracts are first released they will be via Google only.
Q. Will you be selling in Vodafone stores or via Vodafone.co.uk?
A. The Google offer is a new way to purchase a mobile phone so will only be available online through Google’s web store (www.google.com/phone).

Expansys have a pre-order page up for the Nexus - so it should definitely come sim free and unlocked when it hits europe in the next few months...
The early press I saw says 450 Euros...
Incidentally the HTC HD2 on there has just been lowered to £425 according to a banner ad that just whizzed by.
Milestone at 399 - so Expansys has countered by lowering prices...
Both cheaper than you'd find on Ebay ironically ...
I am Russian and going to visit UK at the end of January.
Do I have any chances If I'll be able to buy Nexus One there without contract?

No, since it's a webshop only you need to have a UK address they can deliver too
I wonder if this will make vodaofone increase their crappy FUP of 500MB.....
Quick question: How much did it cost in total includin taxes etc for the N1?

Does anyone actually know what the state of play is with Tmobile and the X1?
I have read on another forum that people have been told in stores that they are going to stock it, but tmobile people on the Forum say they are not going to stock it at all.
Anyone got any clues on this?
I spoke with T mobile regards this, and was advised that they would be stocking the X1 but that it'd be in a few months. This is due to, and i quote, "all recent sony touch screen phones have been crap" - i.e they will be quality testing the **** out of it (Maybe rebranding it/the software) before considering selling it to the consumer.
As a result, when my contract is due in 10 days, I'm not renewing.
Thanks Naffets. I really want to stay with T-Mobile this year due to the good customer service/back-end systems they have. But at the end of the day the first network to stock the X1 gets my money

I have rang o2 every day for the last two weeks. It was due in on 6th, then put back to wc 13th rang them today and they still have not recieved them yet. It is not their fault (aparantly) and they will be selling X1 as soon as it arrives which could be this week. If not wc 20th

UK:
Carphone Warehouse dont know when it's going to be in. They advised next couple of weeks.
Vodaphone had a Dummy Unit and were to busy for me to ask if they had any in stock before I left.
O2 dont really have a clue, salesman looked a bit dumb founded when I said Xperia. He said SE are having quite a few releases in the next 2 weeks to a month, so come back then.
Just dont know which to go for, Omnia (Free on T-Mobile @ £30/m for 18 Months, 700 Mins Unlimited Texts) or Xperia (Free on O2 @ £30/m for 24 Months 600 Mins and Unlimited Texts) ...
Xperia felt a lot smaller than expected and I didn't see too many issues with the D-Pad, but then it was the Dummy Unit. Omnia was obviously thinner but felt like a boat width ways. Hmm ...
CPW already have the X1, as do mobiles.co.uk and Vodafone.
I have a Vodafone X1 but I'm using my Tmob sim as I have a better contract with Tmob.

And yes Mobiles.co.uk do, but tried to order today only to find them Out of Stock.
I'm curious about something.
From the looks of it T-mobile will not be carrying the X1 instores for a while.
But how are companies like Expansys able to offer it for free or at reduced prices with T-mobile contracts?
And are those models unlocked or T-mobile branded?
Just curious as I've already ordered mine from Clove unlocked, but wanted to know how this system works.

They sell the unbranded version which they have bought at wholesale prices. They also sell you an airtime contract, for which they receive a commission from the provider. They use this commission to subsidise the sales price of the handset.

Was thinking of getting it on a contract, before I realised that I'm going to be spending over 6 Months travelling and didn't want to pay the price of a new expensive contract ehn I'm not going to be able to use it.
Latest from T-Mobile twitter is that the Hero (G2 Touch) is available online from tomorrow and in stores over the coming days.
Just talked to upgrades by phone and they haven't got any in yet or have any details on upgrade pricing.
On t-mobile twitted feed it said that they will be selling the g2 from tomorrow (28th) but they still don't know any price plans.
I will be calling them first thing to see if they beat orange.

Not available yet by phone or website. Apparently phones become available on launch day around 11am. T-Mobile is already crazy busy with people asking about the G2 Touch.
Well, they should've announced it would've been available after 11 then!
If there's a lot of demand, I hope they've got sufficient stock.
Regards,
Dave
Not sure if the person I was talking to was right but apparently T-Mob have learnt from the G1 launch and made sure that there is enough stock to keep everyone happy.
I phoned up at 8.30 and was told I could have it but it was only free on £40 a month tariffs and she wouldnt budge
Was that on upgrade or new contract?
New contract. I mentioned that people have been getting it free for £35 on orange, and the fact I had a pre-order from expansys that gives me a free phone also but she said that because the deals havent been built for the hero yet she cant do anything. Apparently she's phoning me back on thursday

Might as well go on their Solo tarrif at £15/£20 and just buy the phone outright at £400, works out at either £270/£360 for 18 months.
So, solo would be either £670/£760 for 18 months with the phone being factory unlocked (don't forget you're not tied into a contract, rolling 30 day) or you can get a £40 a month contract with a phone that is locked, customised and all that other gubbings T-Mobile put on for £720.
I know what I would do.

anyone managed a better deal because i can still phone them and have a go!
Just spoke to T-Mobile and they are offering terrible deals. I've been with them for over 6 years and they couldn't beat the offer that Orange gave me. Best they could do was a free phone on Combi 35 which would cost £36.50 a month including unlimited data. On Orange I got more minutes but less data at £34 a month.
Just seen on the t mobile site that they are showing the Touch HD2 coming out on the 9th of November with a ' 3.8" touch screen and loads of apps to download from ' Android market '
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/coming-soon/htc-touch-hd2/detail/
How can they be so wrong about a device ? Or am i missing something.
they do get a bit confused at T-Mobile - when I first rang to upgrade, they said the HD2 was in stock and then tried to give me a Touch 2 instead...
however, i've just noticed on THIS page http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-phones/phones/windows-mobile-phones/ they do actually have a real picture of the real HD2
yay
*sort it out T-Mo*

their customer services guys still don't know much - just spoke to one who went off to ask "our handset guy" about availability - he came back saying only that "he thinks it will be before the end of this quarter" - which is about as helpful as a snowplough in the desert.
I told him the last person i'd spoken to said 6th of November, but he said he'd seen that before and had since heard it wasn't correct.... Here's hoping that the truth will be revealed soon, I can't hold on much longer just re-watching the few video reviews out there...
Not sure if I'm going to be disappointed tomorrow or not... but I was able place an upgrade order this morning on the HD2 (after ensuring that I was getting the HD2 after the 10th time of asking), placed my order.
And apparently should be with me tomorrow morning... I guess I'll wait and see... more than likely be disappointed... but hey bonus if i'm not
Hmm, they told me I would get it for free on an upgrade. However, it won't be available till friday, at which point they will call me again to continue the upgrade process.
yup... free upgrade... had to pay £7.99 P&P
Cannot believe how T-Mobile makes such a ****-up in their website! Mixing an HD2 with an HD and not bothering to ractify the mistake is just ridiculous. Everybody is talking about it on the Net and they still haven't changed to the correct picture!? Maybe next year? T-Mobile is a great company with, in my view, the best plans around. But their staff is just dreadful! They just get confused and are unable to answer any straight, simple questions. Oh, and if you had any doubts about the (in)competence of their "web guys" these are now gone...

No current model will. There will be an american version released some time in the first quarter of next year; that might.

Did anyone get a HD2 from T-Mobile today?
They got them in stock 10am yesterday morning and will be available within 48 hours.
They however sent me a Touch 2 and apparently I have to go through the returns process before they can send me a HD2 (by which time they'll probably be gone).
Perhaps it is time for another network...
I just ordered the last HD2 in stock from the T-Mobile renewals desk!
12 mth contract, £35 pcm.
300 mins / 300 texts
free upgrade to Web'n'Walk +
(plus a free photo frame)
£121.99 handset price. A small price to pay for a 12 mth contract - hopefully just in time for Windows 7 (or Android behemoth) this time next year!

Hey,
Was just wondering where people are planning on getting their Desire Z from and if you are planning on going the contract route or just paying for it out-right and getting a sim-free phone.
As of yet it looks like Play.com , handtec and clove look the best for sim-free.
As for carriers I am yet to see this being advertised on any, only the Desire HD is showing as coming soon.
I had a chat with someone from T-Mobile today and the think they should have them in October and wouldn't say when.
Contract options are going through my current contract with T-Mo and getting a locked and branded handset and keep my unlimited data (3gbs) or going through any of the other carriers through a dif website and their max unlimited data seems to be on T-Mo but is down to a ridiculous 1gb/mnth.
What your thoughts?
Getting mine sim free. Had a Touch Pro 2 which I bought outright, and just got a contract o2 sim from carphonewarehouse which I swapped out to sim only... Running at about £5 p/m... Anyway, TP2 died, sent to insurance, who gave me money towards my new phone
So, looking to get the Desire Z. Prolly gonna go to handtec... Was told that htc only offer the 2 year warranty when bought from authorised htc resellers, otherwise, it's only a 1 year warranty. Anyone know how true this is?
Can't wait till they're released tho Looks a great phone...
Good point about warranty. But I'm going to pay by Egg Money Card to get extended warranty to 24 months.
I remember my last phone from T-Mobile had 2 years warranty. But when I tried to check Handtec and Clove websites I couldn't find anything about warranty period for this phone. But other HTC phones have 2 years warranty.
handtec sell UK stock and is covered by 2 year warranty via HTC. I have my past 4 HTC phones from them.
Sim free from ebay

I was reading somewhere that the date got pushed to October 16th I think for anyone buying from tmobile. I could be wrong though seeing as they have already postponed it once.
As far as contract vs outright, I know I dont have 500 dollars or so lying around and am already tired of ATT service, so im going with the discounted handset and improved service
Always buy sim-free. In Poland contract is installment purchase with very high interest rates in fact. I prefer unlimited internet & text + 1000 minutes instead of new phone with poor plan.
definitely SIM free...in Australia, I would have to wait until around 2011 before I could get this phone on contract - and even then it would be very expensive!
Looking at expansys...which will be selling it for around $760AUD including shipping..but i'll also see what ebay sellers can do! Hopefully around $700!! (or less)
Amazon.co.uk. They won't be available in my country (Slovakia) at launch, plus they will be overpriced as hell. Expansys has it overpriced too (even including the postage fees i will be around 510 euros from Amazon, vs 535 euros from Expansys).
On contract ? LOL. HTC Desire was added to my T-Mobile SK phone list just 2 or 3 weeks ago .
I have a free handset upgrade just sitting in Telstra's system in hopes that the Z will come to them. Either the Z or the Droid 2 World edition or whatever other bad ass phone may come.
I am from New Zealand want a contract free phone i doubt Telecom/Vodafone releases it .They just released Desire & X10
If i buy from UK or any other international seller where is the warranty applicable?? .

The question you got to ask yourself with this question is if you like to play around with your phone like flashing roms and all sorts of other stuff on your phone (since you're on here I'm guess that could be a yes)
Do you want to have that process be easy then go with the Z or if you prefer jumping through many hoops and possibly not having that ability you could go with the Moto.
I got to say I love Moto hardware, they have some of the most rock solid build quality and design but how they lock down their devices and have that rubbish blur on it annoys me....not to mention I was about 2 seconds away from buying a Milestone last year when it was released and seeing that it might never get its 2.2 update really makes me glad I didn't.

You might want to have a closer look into how much that 'unlimited internet' is that they are giving you. I was doing one of those chat things with one of their sales team and turns out that even though they were offering me a T-Mobile contract that it would be through mobilephonesdirect and so their unlimited internet is only 1Gb instead of T-Mobiles 3Gb which I though was a total rip-off.
Let us know when your phone finally arrives, not heard many good things about that company. Hope everything goes well.
by contract, vodafone NL 200, €25 pm for free, hopefully by the 15th oct, otherwise 8th nov
Still waiting for offers. Currently only vodafone is offering a not expensive contract here in Holland. Now €25.
Problem is that the " unlimited" internet here is limited, except on t- mobile. So ill wait a bit since my contract will end in the beginning of November.

I shall be giving them a call during business hours tomorrow to check on the fair usage policy for the mobile internet. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Their deals have changed. When I went into work the next day after ordering this package, my boss asked why I didn't get a phone through our company, as he can claim money back or something. So I had him look into a deal for me and if it worked out better, I'd cancel this one. I went back to the site to double-check what the deal was so I could give my boss the full details and I couldn't see the package I had ordered the night previously. So by the looks of things, it is no longer available.

No but it's not a long wait and the price is a pretty good one though yes you can get the same contract elsewhere for less at least you'd be getting if direct....Noticed it so thought I should share!

Yeh right, I have actually heard reports of 3 refunding the £70 recently so just yell at them a little and I'm sure you'll get sorted!
Gonna do the same here with tmobile they said delivery friday
Having just got off the phone to the 3 upgrades team they told me that although the website shows the end of the month they're expecting some Silver handsets in today so I could have my new phone by Tuesday. They did say that they couldn't confirm this however and would be in touch to let me know as soon as they could confirm or deny it.
I am however holding off until the 5th of next month anyway as I currently still have to pay £26 early upgrade fee....And they don't seem to want to budge on that haha!!
Oh I've also emailed CPW to see if they're up for matching the new deal released on the 3 website as they're still showing a more expensive tariff so I'll be interesting to see if they do drop the price.
just spoke to 3 - anybody who has pre ordered the black or silver will be refuned the £69 off their bills.
sorted
mine is out for delivery between 2.30-3.30 today

Spoke to tmobile and the sales lady couldn't even confirm when stock will arrive!
Hey just wondering. Has anyone that ordered with 3 managed to ever get them to compromise on anything? It seems they're the only company not willing to bend even the slightest on their deals!
mabye because they have really good deals anyway?
i mean £34 a month for 500 mins 5000 txts and unlimited data and a free phone is pretty good to me.

It is very good but when a third pary website is offering the same contract at £32 a month saving £48 over the contract term it's almost enough to entice me over (be it a small amount) I'm thinking surely 3 could let me off the small amount I owe seeing as it's clear the contract can be offered for less?

point made!
You tried speaking to them? They seemed to have no problem with refunding the £69 for me, all depends how desperate they are to get
our orders i suppose!

3 have recently not been very helpful re. small discounts off contracts. I mean their deals are really great, the ultrafast One on the One Plan for 36 a month when LTE is available at the end of this month is a really good deal.
but even though you may have been an old customer, they just offer the same deals that are available on the website for new customers.
i pain 69 upfront day before, and have to collect from the store today. called them on 333, they 'have no record of the 69 payment, please discuss with the store you purchased from, they may be able to help you.'
Bah.
Yes I hear you. I spoke to them a little while ago and asked why if I was leaving 3 would the cost be £26 and if I was to upgrade it would be the same price? Surely as I'm staying with you by upgrading you should be able to sort me out? They just basically said no lol. I don't get it, I know for a fact they can afford to move on this, it's pennies to them!
Yeah three look after new customers, yet current ones get sweet fa.
I'm confused about their lte. The one uses dc-hspa yet 3 says it's lte ready despite the phone not having it listed?!

the One is def LTE ready and will get it as for no extra cost on 3 as soon as they upgrade to LTE.
Just got off the phone to 3 again and they've said the lowest they can take my pay-off to is £23....I just don't get why they can't just ignor that last little bit, I mean come on! lol
