using my camera tweaks u can achive this sort of work with the hd2

hi all been away for awhile and id like to post some pictures from my hd2 these pics are unedited and are purely hd2 camera setting only with of coarse my superfine quality tweaks and stuff i posted few months back

here is some DOF (DEPTH OF FIELD) + MACRO shots from a walk yesterday in avg light with these settings
WB - auto
iso auto - 200
5M resolution
wide-screen OFF
touch focus ON
super fine quality - my tweak
contrast +4
saturation +3
sharpness +4

I have got to admit that these are fantastic!!

From the very beginning I've always diseregarded pictures taken by the HD2 as they always looked with "washed away" colours. And I am not necessarily comparing them to my eos 400d, they do not keep the pace even by far with my very first coolpix 3200, let alone the coolpix s2 I have now.
They may have nice detail sprint, but the way the colour is so undetailed putted me off big time.
Not to say that this effect is absent in your pictures, but they are the very first I see made by the hd2 that have that effect the least visible.
EDIT: since I'm at it, why not asking if you can provide the registry keys that can be imported after every flash in order to update the camera settings to 5M/widescreen off/grid on/sharpness and contrast+4 and so on? You know I'm dead lazy when it comes to search the registry

is really pink-ish and it's not the horrible pink stain in action?
EDIT3: for the comparison sake, this is a picture I shot this morning to take a memento of one of my blossoming plants (it was not a test by any means), and all the quality enhancements have been set:
and I still see the horrible washed out effect...

DVP Camera Test w/ Wide & Macro lens

Tested the DVP camera today with the Wide Angle and Macro lens that I got in the mail today
The Camera settings were in default except the flash. I turned it off instead of automatic.

I had nothing else interesting things to use the Macro with in my room so I went over to my Vivarium and started taking pictures of my plants.
This shot was taken in a low light area of my Viv and I had the flash turned on. It's a pretty blurry shot of one of the pitchers of my pitcher plant.
Another low light setting but this time the flash was turned off.
This one's pretty cool. I took a few shots of the fruitflies hanging around a leaf.
These guys are TINY!

That's all I got for now! I think the lenses were worth the $20 I've spent on them.
None of these pictures were doctored. They all came straight from my DVP to my computer and uploaded them to Picasa.
Under the Picture info on Picasa though, it says the Camera name is OmniVision

was it hard to replace the lens?

no, it's a magnetic lens that goes on top of your camera lens.
You get a metal ring that you stick around your phone's camera lens. Then then lens it self is magnetic. So you just place it on the metal ring whenever you want to use it.

HD2 LENS MOD anyone???

Has anybody considered creating an extension lens that can be mounted onto your CCD?
They already have some custom kits developed by users for pocket HD video recorders that adds wide angle lens capabilities.
Any ideas?

It works really well for me but I can't fit it in my pocket... any ideas?

First this would be an attachment not a mod. Second it's a phone what are you expecting from such a small lense. I mean if you want to take a good picture use a true camera.

well, wouldnt it be cool, for the sake of nerdism, to pull a lens and mount it onto your phone like some form of SPEC OPS tactical kit???

I understand wanting nice pictures. I use the camera on my phone all the time but when I do it's to do things like take a picture of something and send it via email or mms to somebody to ask them a question or laugh about something. Sometimes it's just to take a picture but I know it's a phone and not to expect much from it. If I'm going to waste the space to carry around some bulky attachment I might as well carry a nice half decent size camera and get a real quality picture. Hell I can even go so far as to use my camera take a series of pictures put the card in my phone because the camera uses micro SD with adapter. So I can still be able to send them or view them.

To prove a point that this is a waste of energy.
These pictures were done really quick using a special macro tool I found sitting on my desk.

I don't understand the point.
No matter what kind of lens you attach to the HD2 or any smartphone for that matter, you're still significantly hindered by the tiny, crappy little image sensor on the phone. The image sensor is at least as important as the glass. (I'd say it more important)
I suppose one could benefit from being able to shoot more creatively by being given more control of depth of field and what-not, but I doubt the image sensor can capture enough detail to make it worthwhile.

In the wm6.5 there was this fellow, who was modifying the registery to increase the bit rate for the video recording. Also, there were adjustments on the color, sharpness and etc

Simple CameraFix for better pictures.

First, there will be no disassembly pictures, because i did not have a camera, just look at the youtube disassemblyvids.
You basically open the batterydoor, unscrew the screws for the back, pop it of, pop out the cameraglas, and polish away the faded AntiReflective coating with a rag and toothpaste.
Clean the Camerasensor and glas with windowcleaner afterwards. Put it back togheter.
Profit.

I did this to mine the other day, although I didn't disassemble it, I just cleaned the lens while it was on the phone. It really made a huge difference to my photo's, before they were all bloomy and blurry, now they are nice and sharp! :laugh:

Reminds me of the 'fix' back when I had a MyTouch 3G Limited Edition Fender (i.e.: HTC Magic/Sapphire). Except the glass filter was much much easier to remove.
But yea for me, since I'm already walking around with an expensive Olympus Pen E-P3 I have a number of Lens pens in my bag, one of which being a micro that just enough to cover the G2's glass cover and take any film right off.

Wouldn't that have a negative impact on shots outdoors in sunlight?

Indeed it would, harsh glare/flare, the alternative would be to simply kick up the contrast a little on the image. Which is what I suspect the software did on gb, when full camera driver/control was available.

One thing I read about. CM7 and such ROMs compress pics, causing picture quality to be subpar. Believe someone posted a fix on another phone thread, I could never figure out how to implement that for the G2. It explains why Sense ROMs and stock have better picture quality.

Depends on the camera drivers used in the kernel and how the provided software works with it. For example If the Desire HD had gotten ICS, or when the Virtuous team manages to rewrite the drivers, direct control over camera's hardware will allow some camera apps (third party or otherwise) to make the most use of the camera's raw data, which can then be tweaked prior to compression.
I'm not very familiar with how it even works now, just that the drivers some of the ICS roms use currently is kind of a work around, i.e.: no real control over the camera but 'functional' for the most part. It's like getting your 3D accelerated graphics card working with at least some 2D functionality.

I also used tootpaste today for cleaning glass and result is very big! :good:

Dark spot on camera

I have had this phone for three months, and have taken care of the phone very carefully. Now this random dark spot appears on the none wide angle camera in photos and videos. I haven't done anything that I can think of that would cause this other than accepting this big update on my phone a week or so ago. Anyone know if it's defective, or something else like software? This is the Canadian Rogers LG G6 version. I love this phone and just got it no long ago... I have no idea what I should do, because it ruins certain videos or pictures now. Weird - did you take an extended video of the sun? Also, I'm sure you already have cleaned the camera glass many times, but when you clean it, did you look closely for anything out of the ordinary, maybe trapped between the outer glass and the inner lens?

No, I always avoid getting the sun into my camera for the fear burning the lens. Only thing I can think of my lens getting a lot of light is when taking extreme zoom in pictures of leaves that were in the sun one of those zoom in clip on lenses. Though the camera was facing down on leaves and not towards the sun.

I will have to look at the lens again when cleaning, because I didn't notice anything before.

I just did another test while looking for dust on the lens with a soft flashlight and this spot turned into something else. So confused, because I don't see anything when I look at it. Here I recorded it https://youtu.be/ujwJEvfcQ44

I think there is something between the lens and the sensor. I would send it to repair.

I've the same problem few month ago, I just shake the phone because I thought it was a dust and the dark spot disappeared

I'll trying shaking it before sending it to repair, hopefully shaking works, thanks for the ideas.
