Hi all,
Just read an artice on the hack of Google's impressive Android mobile OS. Hackers have used files from the emulator and installed the OS on some Linux phones. I was just thinking that there was a post on this forum saying that Linux could be Installed on Magician. Also Android uses Linux's kernal. So why not give Android a try. Would be great to use the new Android on Magician.
Any clues on how to proceed with the Installation ?
Is it really? I listen about porting on only Linux-PDA but Magican isn't Linux-PDA.
Of course, Android can run on the Magician, BUT never forget that you need drivers for the device - even for Linux!
And that's the problem: if you don't have any information about the chipset etc you will need month or even years to develop them.
If you want to run Linux on the Magician, there is already a project which try to develop drivers for Linux. Last time I read from their progress Linux runs on the Magician with the possibility to use the phone (but no GPRS)...

So If Linux can be installed, then Android can also be installed. Because it supports all Linux compatible devices according to the hack.

Peoples - a hve WORKING linux on my HTC magician.
name is Angstorm with GUi OpenMoko.
Work - tochscreen,Sound,GSM,blootuth.
thet meens - drivers are exist and work

As me say one man, it takes compiling magican's drivers using Google android SDK.

does anyone know how to actually download the Android platform? regardless of phone model or drivers? or is it just included in the SDK and you gotta compile it yourself? If I can somehow get my hands on a copy of the image I'll probably end up spending the next 3 weeks trying to flash it natively into the ROM

Found a new article for search on "Android on HTC", got this:

It says, that the kernal works only on MSM7200A chipset for now.

what i cannot understand is:
if there is an working linux kernel (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianXanadux) than android should be executable also!?
All necessary driviers shold be available.
So why should it be impossible to have a running android on a Magician?

p.s.: the Magician is a very fast device. maybe android is running well on it.

I have tried to download the angstrom linux and follow the instruction from this site http://linuxtogo.org/~ph5/magician/....
but I always had kernel panic when start booting the linux, after then I found out the unzipping wasn't successful there is an error occurred during unzipping.
Does anyone ever encounter the error when unzipping? your help would be much appreciated. thank you

I for one cannot wait to boot winCE on my Magician! Id love to put ANDROID on it! from what it looks like they are only 80% done!
I have opie II running on magician (http://linuxtogo.org/~htcpxa/htcmagician/)
and it runs perfectly (except a little bug eith the menu).
And here is a list what works in linux (http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/Magician)so android should work

I can see that the htc click (or tatoo) is under android and the hardware is similar to the htc MEGA (touch2 in france).
It's maybe possible to run android with the rom of htc click but i don't know how ....

Yep same here...it will simply be AWESOME! (compared to WM6.5...tons of functions but marketplace is somewhat doomed because ppl r reluctant 2 port their apps 2 e marketplace). Anyway on this forum, I checked out the Vogue (HTC Touch) and it had the android port. Would we be able to use that port for Mega?
It's not possible because the hardware between htc Mega (touch2) and the htc touch is not similar

I had Elf before Mega and test it, it was interesting, but not fully working and I mean, Mega have other HW, not OMAP processor etc. It doesn´t work, or anyone tested it?

If your looking for an android rom for your phone, as far as i know there are no roms or emulators to run android on the trinity phone.

@jaboswell - This section refers to Android on any device...
@zmuda - Have a search around for running android via Haret.exe, I don't believe there are builds for the trinity, so don't expect all the hardware to work.

Hey im wonedering if we can have on g3 other os like bada or wm(windows mobile).i heard that for wm 6.5 u need 400mhz procesor and 128ram.so is it posible to run it?

It's a question of drivers / radio ROM
btw. nowadays Android is the best so why to use something worse I have an old HTC with win mobile - but I do not use it since I have android

If there is a similiar device like Galaxy 3 with WM6.5.3 (with same hardware) then the portation is possible. Like betweend HTC HD2 and HTC desire it's possible, because the hardware and drivers are almost the same - so there is this option to port the OS. But it's still not working for 100%.
Just imagine to work on windows mobile without arrows for an example.
What do I miss on my android is just IGO 8. and better exchange sync support.
But for an example I do not see a reason to import BADA.
I devleopment now, and hacking bootloader.
In this thread i write all info, and resolutions for any problem/dev.

I look there sometimes, but does not address the total Android

With this hacking bootloader method... can we have a dual boot function ?
i say this because...
When you will release a WP7 ROM, i assume prefer Windows Mobile but i want play with Windows Phone 7 on TG01 then a dual boot must be a very good solution to preserve prefered OS !
