I deleted the Messenger files by mistake.
Is there any way I can re-intall it on my Xda-II device ????
messenger
yes you can get it from the microsoft site just reinstall it
regards kevin b
Can't find the link
Thanks for the information.
I searched Microsoft's site with no luck.
Can anyone send me the link please.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/resources/msnmessenger/default.mspx
What should I do after installation ?
I download the file, run the installation procgram and everything seems to be OK.
Than I checked my device.
No hint where the application is.
Any idea what shoud I do next ????
since the messenger is as far as i know located in the rom and cant be deleted i suspect that you deleted the shortcut to messenger and not the program
i would look in the \windows\ dir after the exe file called instmsgr.exe
BINGO.
Now it works.
Thanks everyone.

A CAB-file can only run on your device...You have to copy/paste it into your device as is ( my documents or so ) find it using your file-explorer, tap it, and it will install... hope this helps...
BTW it is not a zip-file. though it looks as if it is on your PC, just FYI...
I have tried tihs and this message i am getting " there is no application associated with (file name). Run the application first, then open this file from within the application"
Help !!

Ohh I know that one, that's Vijay's nice little thingy, well you want them all I assume, so be sure to empty your browser cache, then download this one... http://www.vijay555.com/vj/ToggleToday/VJToggleStuff.cab
Then sync with your device....copy and paste the file as is into your device, in "my documents", disconnect your device from sync, then use your file-explorer ( the default one ) to find the cab file, tap it, and it installs...have just checked it, it works just fine...

Are you absolutely sure that you copy this file as it is to your device ? and you have not made an attachment to cab. extentions on your desktop, so that it renames the file in transfer ? The only time you will need to click the file, is when it is in your mini, "my documents" folder, not before...!
If you are sure about the above, I mean sure..!!! Then maybe it's time for you to do something serious about your OS, 'cause then you have a problem..
...use cab installer and associate files with it!
...then try to disable the setting and see if system setting is restored
Its now fine, i was doing mistake ....Actually i was unzip the file first then i transfered the file, you mentioned AS IT IS helped me alot.
I really appriciate your help...and THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!!!!!
With this small tools, you can specify the folder you want the CAB to be installed to.
Just copy it to you PPC,and run it.You can associate this tools with CAB file so that next time you click a cab on your PPC,the cabinst will take over the rest work in your will.
Thanks alot mate, its really helpful !

I kinda figured that, but you kept insisting that you did'nt...
and you're most welcome..
Guys, if you're using ToggleToday, it works fine on WM2003 in Portrait at QVGA.
I'm currently working on the "proper" version which is WM5 and VGA and landscape friendly as well... stay tuned.

is it possible to extract the "soft key applet" (the one with the pink icon) from this CAB file ?
if so ... could someone who knows how to, do it and post it here ?
many thanks !

Done for you mate.
Psi
thanks alot man !
it's the best soft key applet ever ! ....
although you are not able to select any program you want ... it allows you to choose from a dropdown list of every program installed including the windows' like file explorer and new SMS (which i use !)
anyway, thanks !
p.s.
really really fast man !
but how do i install a CPL file ?

Drop it in the windows folder (you may get a warning about activating the appilet - say yes) and then look in the settings and it'll be there.

thanks again !
man you work fast
hi all, i'm trying to make a ROM backup of my device following this metod:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_HowtoDumpRom
I've extracted the .raw files, created the imgfs_raw_data.bin and dumped the ROM, but when i try buildimgfs.exe command i get the classic win32 error and the application crashes..
any suggestions?
tnx
I am having the same exact problem... i really dislike those semi dos promt tools.. its alway a question of running and praying...
userfriendlyness is also something the people here could be looking into....though im grateful for their working apps
Ill be looking into the thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327073 for answers.. Ill keep you posted
Ok i checked the thread.
Seems a lot of people have the same error and not much is said about the error.
but this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2277527&postcount=95
Seems the BuildImgfs.exe command just repacks the files in a similar .bin file.
So its only to be used when coocking i guess
The value of repacking is when you change files.
Hope this clears it up for you!
I also downed Hypercore, which is totally unusable.
At least i do NOT understand the first tutorial!
It says to put a rom file in a certain dir and then start dumprom... but no matter which file i put in the HyperCore\Extract\Source dir it says it cant find the right file (Ive tried 04_os.nb, imgfs_raw_data.bin, Part02.raw, RUU_signed.nbh and RUU_Pharos_DOPODASIA_WWE_1.11.707.1_4.1.13.59_03.15.90_BLUE_Ship.exe nothing, nada, zip, zilch, the big "O", niente)
so there is a big thank you for writing a tutorial which doesnt tutor. hey im not an engineer... just a user pppfffff... ever hear of ... userfriendlyness? usability?

That's correct! You just need to skip the two steps that create the Dump folder and then use the buildimgfs command. It worked for me after I was having the same problem with buildimgfs (for my Elfin).
BTW.. Sorry to bump this old thread.. Just thought it would help others out.
Folowing instructions ???
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HowtoDumpRom
All ok, but someone need to make the stiky, with svreenshots and exact steps like you type this comp will do that
for example I was confused with FLASHDR, at my PHAROS that was "DSK1:" WITH ":" ????? Interesting, isnt it ?
P.S.
For admins :
Sory for bad english and tel me or let me make picture detailed manual for dumping roms. I am not bad with computer and mobile phones but this manual confused me at first
And another P.S.
I dumped my P3470 - Pharos english rom but i can not login on ftp, if someone need rom, PM me.
guys and dolls,

apologies if this is already up. i did search
Sorry HTCVolumeControll.dll needed thannnnnk you.
There's no such file. Do you mean HTCVolumeControl.dll ?
Bingo
Sorry not thinking let alone straight
+1
This dll from 1.66/1.48 ROM (21869) can be utilized to pgup/pgdown by ebook reader, while newers don't (21887, 21888,21889...)
And I can't extract it from oringinal rom, I've only got htcvolume.dll folder...
+1 .. I can't copy the file from my phone.. It's protected, even with resco explorer and sdkcert.cab installed..

I would like to try this as a fix to the spotify volume reset error
