MS access for Windows Mobile - HD2 General

One of the most useful things I can do with my HD2 is to run access files .mdb containing Visual Basic scripts. I couldn't find a Mobile version for MS access.
Anybody knows if it's possible? It would be really grateful

The very first versions of Pocket Office for Windows CE had Pocket Access. It was removed for some reason in later versions of Pocket Office/Office Mobile. Maybe some other office packages still offer Access file support or you can somehow find Pocket Access as a cab from some old device.

Even with an old CAB, you will have trouble with the databases. PPC2003 (if not 2002) has Mobile Access, and at that time, the ActiveSync can convert the Access MDB database to the mobile CDB databases. Either you are creating the databases on HD2 itself and forget about the activesync, or you will also need to hope that the pre-V4 activesync can work on your Windows and the HD2.

Actually yeah I am having really hard time running mdb files on HD2. What a loss..

Is there any news about ms office access for windows mobile 6.5? Maybe there is a some kind of aplication or program who is able to read and edit access files. Did somebody knows anything about this?

Try kaione.com, they have also - slightly buggy - sync client

I use Data on the Run to good effect on my WM6 iPAQ 214. I haven't tried it on my HD2.

TtTN MSN MESSENGER

I have just upgraded from the HTC Wizard to the TyTN which is an orange branded device I have removed (stopped) the orange customization, but I seem to be missing the MSN part of windows. I've looked on the windows mobile 5 web site, msn web site, but can't find where to down load it. any ideas?
Thanks to all the great information this site has provided I was able to completly open my wizard thanks to this site alone!!!! job well done!!!!
...Isn't msn embedded in wm5, mine is. It's called: pmsnlauncher.exe. I attache one but don't know if it's working standalone...
I just moved from the M2000 to the M3100 today and was dismayed to find no msn messenger pre-installed.
Seemingly it will not let me install Agile Messenger either, as it says that it is not supported.
I have discovered a link in the files which takes you to msn Mobile but then tries to charge you 10.99 to install it. Is there anyway around this, as I use msn a lot whilst travelling, yet loathed to paying for something I expected for free.
Any help?

You need to app-unlock the 3100 before you can install Agile. Once you've done that, it works fine.
To app unlock it, use a registry editor to set the following registry keys (these are decimal values, use 1 and 40 if you're inputing them in hex):
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 = 1
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 = 64
For some reason people haven't had much success with other registry editors, so I would recommend Resco's, which I can vouch for through experience.
Yep - installed it on my M3100 today.
Here's a link on how to do it:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news2266.html
Follow the instructions exactly:
1) Download and install the WM2002 client
2) Download and install the WM2003 update
presto it works!
I managed to get a pre-registered Pocket MSN by copying files over from my dusty old HP I don't use anymore.
Files copied:
pmsnshared.dll
pmsnserver.exe
pmsnresources.dll
pmsnresources.96.dll
pmsnlauncher.exe
pmsnhotmail.dll
pmsn.lnk
pmsn.cpl
Needed to remove the system file attribute to copy it over though. I guess this is helpful if you have a copy of a pre-installed Pocket MSN lying around that you don't use anymore!

Or just go here and download and install it normally.....

Yeah, but if you use this link you have to pay £10.99 to use a program that everyone uses for free...

Yeap it is, i've been using it since three days now had no problem.
Hi All,
I downloaded Mobile Live and Messenger from this forum, and was able to install it on my Orange M3100. I then hook up my M3100 to my work wifi. I then run Live, and comes up saying "looking for internet connection" It then comes up with the bubble saying connecting to 3G, which I then hit cancel. It then seems to use the wifi connection the syncronise. Also when using it it, the 3G connection bubble appears regularly, and I have to cancel it. Is there any way I can stop Windows Live and messenger using the 3G service, and just WiFi?
thank
Nick

That guy is missing a few files there, just to let you know.
oh great !!!!!!!!!
can't wait for the beta fto end to i can't get the damm thing.
oh by the way you wouldn't know what the other files are would you?
Windows Live Messenger Mobile is still down, with no end in sight. I really haven't had a chance to look at the newsgroups lately to find out what's going on, but I guess I'll have to.
at least i can give Yahoo Go some credit here, thier ppc client program works pecfectlyon my m3100 collecting all my yahoo emails.. let just hope google follow suite with a client version for picking up emails on the ppc.
Gmail supports pop / smtp access, and uses non-standard ports, so you can use pocket outlook to retrieve / send emails on it without problems.

WM5 PocketPC Database application

Hello all,
I am after a database for Windows Mobile 5 (Trinity/HTC/Dopod D810)... Is there an equivalent to MS Access in mobile variety? What I mean is, something sorta self-contained. With atleast Forms to input data and Tables to keep it in the same package? Bonus if it could easily export data to MS Access on Desktops..
Oh Thanks for suggestions!!!!

Old ipaq h1915

Hi,
i've found an ipaq h1915 and would like to use it on my vista.
but because it is still a windows mobile 2002 and vista needs atleast 2003, i can't use it.
can someone help me with this prob.
thx
Jerre
anyone an idee or a link to: how to change a windows mobile?
Change it in to what?
Just kidding. Didn't know Vistas device center does not support old PPCs. One more reason not to use this crappy OS.
Unfortunately as far as I know there is no update for that model.
You could check out HP site, but I doubt you will find anything. Your best bet is to download ActiveSync 3.8 (google it since MS no longer provides downloads) or even 4.5 (from MS site) and see if Vista lets you install and run it.
thx for the reply.
i also had the idee to download the active sync 4.5, but as usually doesn't work on vista because vista has a program of it's own for that.
called mobile device center, installed it... gues what doesn't work on windows mobile versions before 2003

WM6 & ActiveSync 4.5 does not support database synchronization

I need to synchronize my Touch Cruise with Microsoft Access on my desktop (Windows XP) but who develops database (SprintDB, f.e.) writes me:
"there is no way to synchronize database files on Windows Mobile 6 because Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 does not support database sync"
In fact i can not to find anymore Pocket Access
There is some experienced that can help me to resolve this problem?

If you have room on your device, you can set the database to sync under "Tools/Settings/Options" by placing the database in the "Files" folder to be sync'ed. I often do this for Excel files that I need to keep a current copy on my phone. (I have XP Pro and ActiveSync 4.5.)
Good luck!

I just try it but WM6 do not know the extension ".mdb" (Micoroft Access) and the file is invisible by device (maybe must to have extension .cdb)!
Moreover i nedd to sybcronized it because the tables change day by day (hour by hour !)
I've just checked the sprintdb site, and a new version has been released, 4.0.
According to them there is a new conversion database utility. The screenshot shows the conversion from mdb to cdb, but I don't know if it is possible the contrary (just browsed it) and also synchronisation.

[Q] Password manager for IE Mobile ?

Hi,
I have a HD2 (Windows Mobile 6.5), and sometimes I use Internet Explorer. But, I cannot find a way to store passwords to log in into different sites.
Is a password manager included and can it be activated? Or, do I need to install additional software? Can someone recommend freeware program? Thank you.
I used to use Keepass.
http://keepasssd.sourceforge.net/
Desktop and windows mobile client. I can remember that the version of both clients need to be compatible. So make sure to verify that.
Thank you.
I tried KeePass sometime ago. KeePass seemed to be a little complex, and I don't understand why destop and mobile versions must be compatible, as I intend to use it only on my HD2.
All I need is IE Mobile asks if the login and the password should be remembered, when I put them, and click on OK, like Opera does... Maybe there is no freeware which adds such a function..
