how to show the full name in Favorite "People" Tab (Manila)?
wondering the same thing
I guess a not very practical approach would be too leave the surname space blank and put the full name of the person in the first name box in the edit contacts menu

I must be missing something, however all my contacts are showing up as
Bloggs, Joe
i.e. surname first
but if I edit a contact it shows up "Joe Bloggs"
Looked in all the menus and cant see anything
Hi,
I would like simply to copy a phone number from the history phopne list.
All there is now is the annoying option "Save to contacts". This option forces me to paste the number in a new phone contact etc.
Does anybody know how to tweak the system in order to copy directly from phone history list?
Well that "Save to contacts" is a good feature. Anyway, how else do you want it to be?
Don't want to "Save to contacts"!
I want to paste the phone number anywhere I want: Memo, Word, Exel etc.
The regular version forces me to copy/pase it from contacts. Also, I need to erase the new undesired contact each time I copy-paste a new phone number.
Same goes for SMS. No copy function there....very strange.
The Contacts software in HTC used to have a "categories" tab that I can select to view contacts in specific categories. But after a while the tab is gone and now I can't even access the categories function altogether.
Can anybody help with this issue?
the tab that you have missing from the bottom bar is call history, not categories.
To get categories, , from the 'all' page click menu - filter and it lists all teh possible categories.
I don't know why your call history tab has vanished, very strange.

Click to collapse
But I remember that I once had a tab which shows my categories, and when I click in one of the categories I have the options to send SMS to all the contacts in that category or to view individual contacts.
The call history tab is still there, in the HTC dialer. The picture I'm showing is the Contact List when I press the left soft button in the dialer.
Yep, thats the one, , , green send button - all contacts - slide to right end tab gives me call history.

to get categories i click menu - filter

So when setting up the people widget, is there a way to set up a shortcut that automatically calls someone, and another shortcut that automatically texts the same person?
Say, for example, I set up 2 different people widgets, on 2 different screens. On one screen, I have the people widget full of people and it's set to automatically call them on their mobile phone. On the next screen, I have a people widget with all the same contacts, but it's set to send a text message instead of call.
Is this possible? I can't figure out how to change the default action on 1 of them in the widget without changing it for that contact in all of the widgets.
It would sure be nice if I could have a screen full of contacts that have the default action as a text message, and another screen with the same contacts with the default action being to call them.
I set up 2 different groups- 1 called VIP, and the other called VIP text, but changing the default action of a contact in one of them changes it in the other too.
Sure you can do that, only don't use the widget. go to home screen long press, then select shortcut then person, then select your contact then when the contact screen comes up select a number then that shortcut will be put on the home screen, if you select one of the message numbers then that shortcut will text somebody. the other option is to use the quick contact option at the bottom of the contact screen this will put a shortcut icon on the home screen when you touch that icon a submenu will open that will give you the option to call text email or even navigate to that contact, there is also a subicon that will allow you to go to that contacts contact card, play around with it im sure you will find it is very easy to set it up the way you want.

Yeah, I know you can do it that way. I am trying to use the Widget though because it lets you add a whole group. If I could get it to work the way I want, I could add a group for calling, then a group for texting in another widget, and be done. Doing them 1 at a time takes a lot longer.
I replied in your topic at AndroidCentral, lol.
I've heard that the People widget can cost you some battery %'s...
The HTC People Widget scrolls though and lets you organize it by groups, so... I guess it's better in that case.
I'm going mad with this but I cannot figure out how to edit a contacts number, I'm positive the option doesn't exist, if it does it's well hidden or im blind.
when I chose a contact to edit, the only options I get are 'delete' 'send message' 'move to' and 'copy to', nothing to actually edit the contact card to either edit a number, add a number, add email etc.

Not something I need to do often and probably not done it since I had the Oppo but need to do it now.
