Hey mate, sorry to see noone picked up your question...
So, increased ringing is working fine for me, and I'm almost certain it works for you too.
However, the guys at Microsoft had a rather... "interesting" way of creating this feature: why you don't probably hear an increased ringing sound is because increased, microsoft way, means that the "song" will first ring at your current volume, that a little bit louder, that louder again...
So keep in mind, the entire sound (so if it's 10 seconds long, you will hear the entire 10 seconds, the sound at one level). When the sound is played from the beginning, only then will you hear a louder sound and so on...
Hope everything got clearer!
Alex
Thank you amang for your important info. I use mp3 song and this is long song. But increasing from current volume level is strange .
Do you thing, that is possible to change, that increase ringing will start at level 1? Or maybe (but this is maybe impossible) increase after 2 second of ringing and not after whole mp3?
thx

Knobody knows if is here any way to do this?
Maybe with mortscript, which will control if is ringing ON and if yes, then will increase level of sound to higher. Eg. after 1 sec..
Is it not possible? I tried to search which registry key control phone ringing status (if now phone ring - incoming call) or NOT.
Really is it not possible to do this?
thx for any help

Hi all a simple (or maybe not..) question
I am trying to find a way to set up my ringtone level but there is no such thing. can adjust the sound level alright but my ringtone will still sound very loud.
Does anybody know how to do this? I cant find anything like that.
Being able to set up a profile for example would be very nice like in the simple phones.
Thank you in advance.
Makis
Two things that might help...
First, try the Settings > Sounds and Notifications>NOtifications>Incoming call and see if setting the tone to "Increasing ring" is good enough for you.
If not, then set it at ring only, and then in the today screen, move the hardware volume key (left upper corner) and adjust to your desired level.
That's the only thing that can help.
cheers.
krale thank you.
I dont know if I understood you correctly but it is working (I think) now.
If you click on the sound icon on the top right then you get 2 volume adjustment lines one for the device and one for the volume of speaker when you are in a call (or at least thats what I thought i did till now). well the right one actually adjusts also the ringtone volume.
Thanks for all the help. Now I my colleagues can go back to sleep with out me waking them up everytime I receive a call.
Hi all,
This is an issue which has been semi bugging me since getting my Touch HD a few months ago.
If I use Touchflo and go into settings for the ring volume, I put the slider right down to '2%'. When a call comes in, it's still very loud indeed.
I've tested so that if I put the volume up to say 80% and call in again, its VERY very loud!
I want it that I can leave my ringer on say 5% or 10% when I'm working so that I can hear the ring tone but not disturb other's who maybe close by.
Also, upon testing, if I change the ring tone type, then when it 'preview plays' the ringtone its nice and quiet, kind of at the level I'd like it to ring. However, when then selecting the ringtone and clicking done, I test with an incoming call and it's much louder.
Am I missing something here? I've never had this issue with any of my previous Xda's/HTC phones.
I had a look in search but nothing seems to show up like this from other posters - could my handset be faulty?
Or, do I need to buy some software which controls this better and offers more profiles than just the 4 standard ones?
Any ideas out there please?!
Cheers! Dennis, West London UK!
I think the volume setting goes by an incremental of 20%. Yeah, at the lowest 20%, it is still quite loud. The default Innovation ring is excessive loud. You can try another one which is not as disturbing at 20% setting
Hi there,
Thanks for the response!
Yes, I had the 'innovation' ringtone set and have now changed it to generic 3 which is 'better' !
Is there any software out there specifically for ringtone generation? maybe I could create ringtones and record them at a 'lower recording level' to acheive a 'low' sounding ringtone on the THD without this 'limitation' I pointed out/experience?
having done a search, I can't quite beleive I'm the only one who seems to have noticed this!
Might have to find those 'funny' ringtones - the Brad Pitt Snatch dialogue " why the **** would i wanna caravan with no ****ing wheels' being my favourite !
Cheers! Dennis! West London UK!
Your not the only one who has this problem. There is a other thread about the music player and the volume there, but the whole TF3D volume is just way too high . Annoys me aswell
Would anybody please try to make a cab that would somehow lower the incall volume?
I know there are many of us that "hate" our Leo for damaging our ears! Please help us fix that!
Don't point us to HTC support! Have been trying that for about 7 weeks now, with no real result but pathetic fixes.
regards,
GG
First off I will be moving this thread to general when I have finished responding.
Secondly, can you explain your problem a little better please. If you really mean turn the in-call volume down, ie NOT when the phone is in speakerphone mode, you can do this now by simply holding the down volume key while in the call to make it happen.
If this is not what you mean then have another go at explaining yourself.
Cheers
WB
unless i've read this wrong i think you win the worst question of the year award...lol
as above, just turn down the volume.
sorry to but in here and sorry if its a noob question but i've had the same problem...
when i answer a call the volume is so loud everyone around me can hear the call!
now i've tried clicking the side key to lower the volume but it goes to the black screen with the bar and silent and vibrate on there and its only on 6%
I'd want to say (another noob comment) that i have sometimes found the sound is irregular, sometimes its low but normally very loud... isnt there meant to be a function where you place the phone next to you're ear and it lowers the volume so its not damaging you're ears?
I think that question is valid. You can only turn it down so much. All sounds on HD2 are too loud; be it call, music, speakerphone, ringing. You can hear speaker breaking at 50%, and your ears bleeding at more. Distortion is present even at low values.
So, I'm with OP, but I want to expand request: how to lower ALL volume on HD2? In other words, instead 10-100%, I want 1-10%.
maybe i just havent noticed due to being pretty much death
the question should be: how to reduce the default incall vol, is that right?
The earpiece and handsfree produce a lot of noise, I agree. there are a few threads already about volume too high and poor sound quality i.e. distorted audio. with earpiece calls try raising the volume first to just above minimum, then keep lowering the volume even when level indicator has reached minimum to reduce call volume further.
Don't be quick to judfe please!

Maybe I haven't explain myself well enough. Why do you and all the smart asses that gave all that cheap advice think that just because we're not mods or developers we're dumb.
It is a well known problem with the HD2. Even with the volume all the way down (while talking on the phone) it's still very loud!!!! Very Very Loud! And I don't mean that trough speaker phone but through the earpiece!
Does this justify my frustration and my legitimate question?
If you can't say nothing good say nothing at all!
thank you!
I know of those threads!

If you think that making fun of someone else's problem is funny think again!
We do expect more of the senior members here but then again maybe we're wrong in doing so!
why do you assume I don't know how to use the volume buttons?
It's a well known fact that hd2 is very loud while incall and even with the volume all the way down is still too loud!!!
G
its loud indeed,
I and I would be personally intrested in lowering the top volume, so highest settings are more reasonable, and stepping down from that actually make it lower sensibly
I had this issue with the call volume being too loud even when turned down, and sometimes it would distort/crackle with certain words/letters. I used the following registry tweak and it's worked absolutely perfectly for me. I've used it on the old ROM and the latest.
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\inCall AND InCall2
Change the value of InitVol to "2" in both inCall and inCall2
See if that helps

I've done that too but that volume is for incall notifications only. You can verify that by having someone call you while you're engaged in a call. You will barely hear them if you turn the volume to "2".
thank for trying though!

G
I think the members want you to be more specific. Identify what ROM & radio you are using and what you have done so far to resolve the problem.
tried 'em all

Morning XDA people
Have one slight issue that really bugs me with my HD2 the ring volume is so damn loud its hazardous lol now I know your gonna say turn it down but when listening to music I have to turn it back up again and then forget to turn it down again....
Any way I can separate the volumes better was literally thinking of taking the wav file for my ring and decreasing the DB its saved with, but slightly longer work around than wanted not ideal!...
Many Thanks in advance,
Crafty...
I used the following registry tweak to lower the call volume, and it's worked great for me on the old ROM and latest ROM. However, I've posted this a couple of times now and it's received a mixed reception. Some say it doesn't work at all, and some say that a second incoming call is way too quiet. You can give it a shot a guess, and if it doesn't work just change your registry back.

Many Thanks for the Reply Snerkler, I don't think I explained my issue that clearly it is actually the ringing volume that really gets me rather than in call volume. I use my headphones and turn the volume up to max and then when removing the head phones if I forget to turn the phone down the ringer is crazy loud.
Hope this is clearer
There are 3 volumes in WM phone. Incall, ring, and system.
Incall volume is highly problematic in HD2, but at least it has nothing to do with the other two. It can only be changed during call.
The other two, ringer and system, are both linked by default. But that can be easily changed by settings/sound & display/single volume - off.
Like that you will be able to control both volumes independently. On my phone that meant that you control ringer only with HW keys. That can be changed to system only, check here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=610334
but for some people no such tweak is needed.
But again .. there is special incall volume which can be changed only during call. So no volume setting before the call, ringer or system, affects incall volume.
Hi !
Is it possible to decrease the vibration when someone calls or new sms is received?
Because the original vibration is much too noisy for me! I'm student and when I'm in class and the phone vibrate, everybody's hearing it !!
It's louder than the ring set on 3...
Is there any possibility ?
Thanks
I'd also be interseted to hear about this. It's the loudest vibrating i've heard from a phone!
It's like an earthquake when the phone is on the glass table
+1 I too would be interested in this.
or maybe just a shorter vibrate would be better too. I have a low volume tone for SMS when at work, but have had to turn vibrate off altogether as this was louder that my message tone!
If it can’t be decreased, then a shorter vibrate time would be a start
me2 !! will save battery power lol
Look at this, it function on call and email, not on SMS (yet).

I'll have a look into it.
Any other idea ?
i have my hd2 set up seaprate for sistem volum (10%) and ringer volume (100%) ... works fine, but the SMS volume is low, as the sistem volume
is there a way to fix this? like ringer AND sms = ringer volume???
thanks
UP please !
UP ? please !
upping it every so often probably isn't going to solve your issue
I think vibration strength is set by the amount of power given to the vibrator, so you should virtually reduce the current going to the motor, but probably that's not something easy to do... also, I don't need the vibration pattern utility, but I think you could set it so it has very short burts of vibration, that way it wouldn't be as noisy
I believe there is an app for vibration pattern on freewarepocketpc.
Thanks very much for your answers.
Seems that there is no other possibility that vibration pattern.
Cheers
