Photo Album Refuses to load up[TMOUS]

Everything else on the phone works well apart from the photo album, it just refuses to load up at all, and i cannot even open up pictures through explorer.
It's really frustrating as all hell..
remove all your pics off your sd to your computer. mkae sure there are no pictures on the card. Take apicture with your camera and see If it can view it now. I had the same problem untill I found out one of the pictures were causing photo album to crash. I went through 2 phones before I realised the problem was just one picture.

[Q] How to clean up my photo gallery?

I just came to the android world a couple a days ago. (Previous Pre owner) and Im loving the phone, but.... When I click on photo gallery it shows every photo that is on the phone. Like clock images and some random pics that are used for apps. Is there a way to clean it up so all I can see is downloaded photos and shots taken from my camera?
I am rooted running Fresh with Kings #11 and Android 2.2

make an empty file named .nomedia and drop it into the folders you don't want to show up in the gallery. you can do the same thing for music folders (like a custom ringtones or notifications folder on your sd card) so they don't show up in the player list
some galleries won't recognize the .nomedia file. you're up a creek with those.
I use the gallery widget on my screen, and you tell it which folder to use. Somewhat of a resolution.
Thanks for the replies, Gallery widget works for me!

[Q] Pictures gone

i recently rooted my X with a liberty rom, and since doing all my pictures thru gallery have been lost. My downloaded pics can still be seen via astro, but all of my camera pics are gone. Thought maybe the rom was at fault so flashed a liquid rom and the problem still exists. Anything i can do to recover my lost pictures?
thanks
Your camera pictures should be stored on the sd card under the folder DCIM. Flashing a ROM usually doesn't touch the sd card, but I always plan for the worst when making any major changes. For future reference a good way to backup all your pictures is the sugarsync app. It syncs all your new photos automatically to your sugarsync account.

Photos just disappeared

I'm hoping someone can help me.
For no explainable reason on my part, all my photos have disappeared. I can not see any photos in gallery or Google photos. I can however located photos that I took with my camera in DCIM Folder, however these don't show up in either photo app. I have tried restating and clearing gallery cache etc I have even tried restoring using smart switch to an earlier backup however the problem still exists.
Any clues what's going on?
Update: for some odd reason my phone was filled with ".nomedia" files. I deleted them all, restarted my phone and ran an app called "Media Re.Scan" and they magically reappeared. However only camera photos have reappeared. Other media has not, but I'm not sure they were visible to begin with. I would really appreciate if someone has a theory for this.
Update 2: Don't delete all .nomedia files as this will cause all jpeg files to show up in your gallery including system files and apps etc that have images. Instead only delete .nomedia files found in your photos folder and folders you want to appear in gallery etc. Make sure show hidden files is selected to find these files in the first place. I used ES file Explorer Pro.

Thanks. problem solved!
seeing the same problem in s8
i just got samsung s8 recently. i am new to the samsung phone but i am seeing the exact same problem. i see pictures i took from earlier today and a few fays ago just magically disapper. I have tried multiple things like deleting the cache, data, using quick pro, cut and paste the dscim in a new folder, deleting the .nomedia but i CANNOT make those missing pictures reappear anywhere. Anyone else who ran into this and maybe have fixed the problem?
I'm having the same problem on my S8...taking new pics & downloading pics/gifs then they disappear out of nowhere the next day or so. Just started happening after the last software update (4/3/18). Not sure why or how to recover them. I've had my phone since April 2017 & it's never done this before.
Photos corrupted
Hi guys,
sorry for resuming this post.
Happened this summer and never before on my SM-G935F ITV smartphone, never rooted and stock rom (Android 8).
I loose all the latest photos, or better they are on the card but the thumbnails are grey, I tried to open them with an hex editor and I discovered they are all filled by 0x0.
I used to save them directly on a SD from Huawei 256Gb, scanned and works perfectly.
The only dubt I have is the number of photos saved into the dcim folder, they are over 2048...magic number!
Once I moved the photos in another folder I can take the photos again as usual...
It's just to know if I discovered a bug or what...
Any one with this issue?
Thanks, Pier

sorry messenger was unable to process the file

Here's a new one on me. I took some pictures and all a sudden I can't share them with messaging or messenger. I get sorry "messenger was unable to process the file" I am using quikpic and also tried snap gallery. i tried clearing data/cache for quikpic and messages, did a smart clean and a reboot. I'm lost. any help is appreciated. I hope i don't have to reset.
looks like my camera pics moved back to the internal memory somehow and my explorer app still shows them on the SD card and when i try to open them then they won't load because they're not there. stock cam still shows SD card for storage. one of my camera apps must have glitched the phone.
So i copied the pics from internal camera folder to the external now i can' t look at those either. i think the file folder structure is glitched. the quikpic still can read pics from the memory card other then what i copied over. i do'n't know what happened. could have happened with Gcam froze up last night after taking a few pictures. so i loaded a diff camera to take pictures in a hurry. they must have both been trying to write to memory.
i still can't get my photos to my computer or anything. i can view them with photo galleries, edit with snapseed and send to mom with messaging through snapseed but the exported files can't be viewed either. i have some really nice pics of my pet birds that isn't easy to take sometimes. Is there some way to recover them?
now i am having the same problem when trying to load music from the file manager. the players say the file was modified or deleted.
