Adding Widgets in DxTop - Android Software Development

Alright, I've been searching for the best home replacement app for myself, and I thought i found the best one with Dxtop (although Home++ and ahome are very good). But there's one main problem Ihave with Dxtop... every time I try to add a non-Dxtop widget, it says there is no more room on the home screen when there is NOTHING on the screen. Has anyone else had this problem?
And if so, does anyone have a solution?

dell stage ui home widget

hi all
ive searched everywhere but could not find the answer to this problem. the home widget in the stage ui where the recent apps are also has a weather app in built (shining sun). it has been saying 'getting location' ever since i updated to froyo. it never gets my location (i dont want it to also). now is there a way to remove this part of the widget? i have deleted accuweather app from the system. i would like to remove this aspect of the widget also. please help
that would take an entire rewrite of the app. mine said getting location for a while too, dunno what makes it choose whether or not to work correctly. overall, im a little disappointed with the stage widgets. theres no config, and they dont seem well thought out. the home app only showing recent apps with no ability to place your favorite apps you want to launch quick on hand, whos brilliant idea was that? they would be a great idea if they didnt feel like they where done a bit half assed.
Cant agree more! Long press home button already does that.
A more useful widget will be to list most used/ favourite applications instead of to list recently used applciations.

Message widget causes lag on homescreen

Hi.
I don't know if it's only my DHD.
I have htc message widget (black one, not the white one that looks like post-it note) on one of the home screens.
Ever so often when I swipe through home screens that widget is refreshing names and phone numbers that are in the widget (if you have john smith it will delete the name show his number instead and place name back) and when you swipe further to the next screen it lags for few seconds.
Problem is the more messages i have the more it lags
Debugging is not helping and turning fast boot of doesn't change anything either
Unless someone knows a replacement widget to be placed on home screen

Good to know you're getting this problem too Matt, as far as I'm aware it's just that the htc widgets are pants. Which is a shame, because I think they look good and are easy to use.
I use the large message, mail and calender widgets and each of them take between 1-3 seconds to refresh. I've even tried to turn off refresh on open where possible just incase, and even disabled mobile data and wifi and it's the same.
The Facebook and Twitter Android widgets work fine, they're already updated before flicking to their screen, which is what is expected from the htc widgets.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a fix? Is there a setting I'm missing?
I think the answer may be live with it or get another widget, which would be a shame.
All suggestions are helpful

Second that statement, it's usually not something wrong with your phone/your widget version. I've noticed most HTC widgets do end up lagging there are plenty of third party widgets though that do it better.
When I get my phone back on I'll give you the name of a couple I use.
All HTC widget are lags. Maybe they need to free up some memory everytime its not under user's sight so that other apps can run faster with more memory....then it will need to refresh again...
yup, it suxx everytime i swipe to that corner of my homescreen.. omfg its coming! lol actualy the first time i flash/mod my dhd i was expecting it to be smoothen, but ugh..fat chance it really feels like im still at stock rom

All the lag i used to have got fixed with the gingerbread update

Launcher Pro Plus Bug

I was wondering if anyone else running launcher pro has a problem with their dock bar being off set when in landscape mode. I tried looking around here and on the launcher pro forums for solution but have come up empty handed.
I attached a screen shot of the issue.
I am wondering if it may be related to a theme you are using. I have been using launcher pro plus for quite a while and have not had this issue, however, I keep customizations really simple.
Good luck!
I thought it might be my theme too, but the problem doesn't show up in ADW launcher. I sould switch back to ADW but the widgets for the calender and friend stream are useful to me.
I had Launcher Pro on CM7 and didn't have any problems....but I never had a theme installed...
Well I gave up. It only does this when I try to use a dock background. So I just keep the dock background to none and its fine.
Wish I could get to work with the backgrounds though they look pretty lol

anybody have issues with widgets?

Yesterday i turned on my iconia and all the Widgets were gone off the home screens. The app shortcuts were still there but no Widgets. Also noticed my YouTube widget is a 1x4 now and looks funky. Anybody else have this issue? Is it the iconia or honeycomb?
YES
I thought it was just me, but everything came up "problem loading widget."
I am using ADW launcher EX and just blamed it on that. What about you?
I lost mine when I did the upgrade, but no issues since.
I am having issues where the widgets disappear and a 'Loading' message appears; the only way to fix it is to do a reboot.
I'm using the stock launcher. I didn't even have a loading message. Widgets just disappeared. Tried rebooting several times but that didnt work. I ended up reinstalling all the widgets yesterday and everything seems to be alright now. Also my YouTube widget is back to a 3x2 so that's good. I dunno seems like a honeycomb bug or something.
I had the same problem.
Suddenly the widgets were gone, each of them replaced by a grey icon saying "error loading widget".
Rebooting several times didn't fix that.
I use adw es too and i noticed that if i switched to the stock launcher the widget worked but returning again to adw they were still missing.
I had to remove the widgets and reload them.
I think it' related to Adw.
Sorry for my poor english.
I've had the issue as well. When I added the Music (official Google app) icon to the home screen they all reappeared. Likely just adding any icon to the home screen will bring them back up.

Problem loading widget is an ADW error, likely. I've had it before, usually if I do a wipe then restore my desktop settings via ADW and the widget isn't available.
Now, with know that error is due to the widget not being found, it definitely appears like the Iconia is for some reason not loading the widget, like it can't find them in the system or something. Hope this one gets addressed.

[Q] Says "Problem Loading Widget"

I have tried searching and have not been able to find anyone that has the problem that I seem to be having. I have an error that stays on my home screen or background that says "Problem Loading Widget". I really haven't noticed having any problems with widgets loading (at least for the ones I've used) but it doesn't matter what i do I have not been able to get this removed and it looks pretty bad. If anyone can share some advice with me or can point me to a link or something that I have over looked I would really appreciate it greatly. I have attached a picture showing the error and also one showing my phones information. If anything else is needed please let me know.
I personally use LauncherProPlus...
And this happens when you do a TB restore of LPP.
I've always been able to remove the widget with a long-press though...so that's unfortunate.
Does the launcher you're using have a backup/restore option? If you've created a backup...restore it...
If not, I'd just uninstall/reinstall and put all of your widgets back in place (a pain in the ass, I know).
That's ADW (can't tell if it's the EX version or not).
I agree, you SHOULD be able to long press it and just delete the widget. However, if you can't go into ADW settings (If this is Cm7 and the built in ADW, I think its in the regular 'Settings' menu. If ADW is install on top of something else, then you can get to it from the menu key while at home.
ADW has an option to 'Reset ADW' which will clear all data and start over.
At least ADW EX does. I haven't used stock ADW in a while, so I can only assume it has it too.
