Google Wave - HD2 General

I know this is a long shot and the answer is probably 'not yet' but has anyone managed to get google wave working on the HD2 ?

yep, I used Opera 10 beta 2 and it works fine... albeit a little slow, but that's Wave in general at the moment...

Best IM client???

From you guys' experience, what's the most rated IM client on Android? I'd like to get one that is pretty good (or very good) for all the popular IMs.
I use Google's Talk. Low on resources. Obviously works well with Google.
I use Nimbuzz. Tried it for Gtalk but for some reason it stopped logging on properly and my Google contacts stopped coming up. It works best for me for Skype chats over wifi. A much quicker and cleaner client than Fring which I also tried.
I haven't tried AIM.
What do you guys recommend?
Ebuddy does, msn, yahoo, aim, gtalk, facebook icq etc all in one app. i find it very good
Also check out Palringo. Nice integration
ebuddy I think! using it now as we speak lol
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
I'm using Nimbuzz.. Its pretty cool I'll have to try out Parlingo and Ebuddy
Meebo anybody??
Using meebo right now seems fine to me
EBuddy is a bit more stylish
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Cheers guys. I'm trying Ebuddy right now. One thing that I already like is the notifications are not annoying like another one I used which used it's own high pitched notification noise.
used meebo but switched to nimbuzz, cos it also has skype. otherwise meebo was ql.
I've been using MSN Droid for a week. It was pretty much ok, I liked the UI, it have all the usuall MSN options including avatar (it's missing "appear offline" feature only), but I noticed that it actually slows down my Desire (When I am in application and I press home button it takes at least 20 second to load my home screen, after that everything goes smoothly). It was enough annoyance for me so I decided to uninstall.
Now I am using eBuddy for several days and it seems very lightweight compared to MSN Droid. I really like integration of Facebook chat in it. Only feature that eBuddy is currently missing is personal avatar, but it might come with future update.
One particullar bug (or just something I haven't figured out yet) is that after I recieve message the phone indicator LED is not always blinking. Maybe someone else knows why on some messages the LED is blinking and not on the others?
Anyhow for the time being, eBuddy is my recommendation for you to try.
Cheers
Anyone know if it is possible to get the native android IM application working on the desire? The one that was ported from the g1 and modified to work on mobile internet/3g that is usually included on custom roms for the nexus one.
agile messenger and parlingo ar the best until now, at least from the one's that i've tested.
I like Im+ a lot, used it on my Windows Mobile X1 for a long time and bought it right away after switching to the Desire. Works great for me, unfortunately no Skype or Facebook as of now

HTC HD2 Can not initialize camera. fail to set up camera device Error

Hello,
I am now an owner of HTC HD2 device, and so far I kinda like it. Except that I had a message saying "can not initialize camera. fail to set up camera device" when opening the camera application and the camera did not work. I then flashed one of the latest official roms and had the same message appear. Flashed it once again and so far it works ok, but I am not sure if problem is fixed because the issue appears occasionally.
Please, could anyone explain if the hardware (camera) is showing symptomes of an imminent failure, or some software issue.
I will be extremely grateful, because it really bothers me a lot.
ive read on the forums this could be due to opera 10 if you have it running it will take up a lot of memory and the camera wont have enough to initiate. Try closing opera if that is indeed the issue make sure to close the program not minimize it. Also you could soft reset might be a random bug.
Thanks for the prompt reply, I will do this test. Indeed as I remember I had Opera 10 installed, and I got once or twice a message saying that I do not have enough memory to start an application which is just ridiculous.
yeah its a strange bug if you ask me i just use the opera 9.7 there is no problem at all with that plus you get the pinch to zoom feature which is a nice touch.
What I dont like about Opera 9.7 is the very jurky/slow scrolling of web pages, Opera 10 scrolls almost like my old IPhone 3GS.
I had the same prob it took me 3 hard resets and it eventually sorted itself out I thought I'd deleted a file of some sort even added a thread on htcped but no help just try hard res. All I can off

i see have you tried opera mini 5? this may be worth a shot.
Had this problem today and a few times last week, so not a lot but very anouying.
Soft reset fixes it each time but i dont think i should have to do this just to take a piccy.....
not got Opera 10 so not that for me....
a fix would be nice.......
you could always try a custom rom or update the old one
Allready on a custom rom atm, will see if it persists when i next flash.
I had this error in the past sometimes. But now, with the new radio 2.10.50.08_2 and a new Rom (DsE Black Edition v7) with new camera drivers i dont have this error anymore.
Im on the same radio.
is there a way to check my camera drivers ?

Video Call PC - WTF, this must be a conspiracy!

I have searched the net for hours, and I cannot find any easy method to make a Video call from my Galaxy S to my PC via the net.....
Why the heck is this so difficult? The main result I get is Fring, which used to work with Skype, but doesnt any more, so that is useless. They dont even have a PC Client, which is beyond me!
Then there is Qik, but that is useless as well. Either can be used Phone-Phone, but I want Phone - PC so I can video chat with family while I travel.
I am not very experienced with this, but apparently Fring can be configured for SIP services.... but when I looked these up, they are require payment.
Can anyone help me out???? The phone has a front facing camera and can connect to wifi, there is no reason I can see that it shouldnt be an easy thing to do - it seems like all the big telcos are holding back the technology so they can charge their huge rates, hence why I think its a conspiracy!!!!
Cheers!
Yes, I too think the biggest reason for not having video calling over a data connection is due to the telcos' influences. Technically i see no limitation, Fring already did this and showed that it is possible. Skype IMO has the infrastructure but they are more interested in pleasing Verizon than their own customers .
Sipdroid, works with any sip client and trunk that supports video calls.
i tried sipdroid, but i couldn't get it to work, and when i searched somebody said you needed to pay for the account.
but if you say it works, i'll give it another go. so does it work phone to pc or phone to phone or both?
Bump. I've been wondering the same. My small research also seamed to indicate that sipdroid was the way to go.
i've been trying to find a popular video calling App that works with the PC
so far Sipdroid seems to be the only one
"iMovachi"
Ugly as hell and it doesn't support die front camera of the Galaxy S, bit it is the ONLY video chat software that works from android to pc and vice versa.

Not compatible with Galaxy S and the software is a totally mess. Force closes every few seconds, horrible resolution, etc...
Has anyone tried ooVoo yet ?
The single user is free (3 user free for 30 days) and it seems to work perfect with the front camera. It was also a doddle to set up.
I use Yahoo Messenger video chat.
I tried Yahoo Messenger but it didn't support the front camera

Hey.. ooVoo works! Thanks for the advice. Front camera works perfect. I didnt test the voice calls yet... but its free to call phone - PC through wi-fi... its still beta.. hope they improve its quality soon.
another good one is Tango works great between phones
but no PC support yet
Skype app on iPhone already supports video - shame the Android version is still in the dark ages

Addressing the G-Sensor calibration issues

That appears to address a similar issue - perhaps it would work? My tablet gets here tomorrow, so I'll give it a try. Until then, if someone else has looked into the problem at all, maybe we could get a thread going on how it can be fixed. Has anyone made any headway?

No report on this yet? I'm very interested as this issue affects the pic gallery.
BTW, TNT Lite v2 FTW!
I checked it out but the file he is referring to isn't there, used rootexplorer
Also the sensor app shows absolute 0 way off, it does seem as if this can be fixed, or at least changed
This depends on which accelerometer the system is using. gTab may not have this accelerometer.
in regards to orientation issues:
It's actually right. I found this the other night and just haven't had a chance to post it yet: nvidia developer pdf.
It seems that the orientation being 90 degrees off is correct (link, page 6). Somehow we need to fix the transforms to get us from the correct orientation to the phone-standard orientation that apps seem to be written on (have a look at page 7 of the pdf).
TNT lite 2.0 seems to have fixed the issue
I've loaded TNT lite 2.0 and then started up the game Raging Thunder and it works perfectly.
Warning on TNT lite 2.0. Make sure you have clockwork mod loaded first. My machine went into a boot loop and I had to use clockwork mod to get out of it.

Raging Thunder 2 has never been an issue for me, and is one of the smoothest running games...it's obvious that they have done something different. Maybe it can be used to fix other games.

I have Raging Thunder 2 and works great on my Incredible, but on Gtablet, shows only half screen at the title and never gives options to load up. How did you get it to work?
Reports are it is an Nvidia issue and the current patch does not cover the problem. Did not for me, so I can agree with that assertion.
I am using TnT Lite 2.0.
Anyone else notice that is they hold the tablet upside down as using it while lying on your back, the touch screen has issues, very laggy, have to hold down my presses many times for it to register, like accessing apps I have to try three+ times to get it to work. When I rotate the device back to on my lap everything works great. Wondering if this has something to do with the G-Sensor hardware/software.

That 's what we concluded in our group too.
The G-sensor is not a defect, it 's the game design that use a different orientation.
If you look at Tom Clancy 's flight game and Raging thunder 2, the G sensor works properly.
What we worry the most is that if we do switch the machine's G-sensor output, we will have problem with newer game which designed with Tablet orientation in mind.
One of the developer in our group are actually mod the game itself so that the x-y axis are switched in the game app. This seems to be working quite well. He did about 10~15 games already.

You all are all correct to some point. The logical fix would be a sensor orientation option built into settings, since changing the orientation will fix some games and probably result in others being broken. Raging Thunder 2 is an example.
Where can we get said games?
I bought Raging Thunder 2. Nice game on G
You are probably referring to the modded games... Yeah- where do we get them?
I also have the sensor issue in my gallery. It makes it quite difficult to make selections. If it is just those games having this issue, how can I fix it in gallery?

Yup, I have had that issue with 7.1.1 and 7.1.2. I notice it even in other apps, like twitter and such. Very annoying!
Yes! It happens not only in Chrome, but the video you made is the best example. We need to report this issue and hope it will be fixed in coming updates.
I've talked with Nokia mobile care chat and described that issue, saying it happens not only to my phone. I've linked your video and said it persists not only in Chrome. By the way, scrolling in Firefox works fine. So, there must be a particular, I don't know, function in rendering for some apps which our phone can't handle well.
It would be nice if you also contact with them

It also happens on TA-1033 under 7.1.1 September security patch level as well.

Happens on Nokia 5 7.1.2 as well, with all apps. So annoying I even put it back in its box until further notice. Compared to extreme budget W10M Lumia 550, it feels like tampering with Linux on a very old pc.
..
Noticed that. It's definitely there.
try latest TugaBrowser beta v60. Its chromium based. it scrolls smooth on my Nokia 6 TA-1021.
..
No changes on this one, guys? No solutions?
It seems to be a global issue, not just in Chrome. Kind of a major bug, but somehow Nokia missed it (and continues to not fix it)...
