I've flashed my vodafone Leo with a rom: RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe
And although i think it is the correct rom for the UK, I can't seem to get the £ sign on my keyboard even though my region and location settings are set to the UK.
Has anyone else had this problem or did i flash my system with the incorrect rom for the UK?
Hi, Merry Christmas n all that.
I'm on the same ROM using Vodafone UK and I get the the £ symbol from the second symbol screen, third from the left on the top line beside the Euro and Yen (I think that's Yen) symbol.
I can't remember where the symbol was before the ROM update but I wouldn't expect the alternative option for the F key to be a $ symbol on a UK ROM.
Hope ths helps.
Thanks alot, that does, help. Just seems really weird that on the Vodafone Rom it you could use the shift key to get it from the main keyboard screen, and that now after the update you have to dig so fard down the into the symbol's screen to get it.

I am lucky enough to live in Dubai, so I went out and purchsed the beast today..but I have found a bug in the SMS part, if you address it to a person with a GSM Intenationl formated number i.e. +971 50 xxxxxxxx
then it automatical removes the "+" which then causes the send to fail, I can however make a voice call to that same person "Phone" does not remove the "+", is this new I dont have this on my old Qtek or my i-mate Smartphone ? , I have tried to change the "Dialing Rules" but that dont seem to fix it either...
and Suggestions...
Derek
BTW if i manually insert the "+" it does send correctly...
Just found out that if I dont go via "Contacts" but open the new SMS and just start to type the persons name , then a pop up appears with all matches , selecting the enrty here "does" select the right format i.e.
Via Contacts on "97150xxxxxx" is inserted into the "TO" field instead of "+97150xxxxxx" , typing via the "V-Keyboard" and selecting inserts "Derek M<+97150xxxxxx>"...
what if you replace
+ with 00
you can do that as far as i know at least on std cellphones
that only works if the provider and the local country supports the "00" the gsm standard is "+" for intrnational access... Last summer I could easly make calls from Canada, USA, Germay and South Africa without changing the numbers in my phone...so why should M$ change this all of a sudden ?
BTW the whole software seems buggy !, I used the PC2003 on my Qteck thanks to the ROM kitchen, but now on the HTC implimentation of the PC2003 things are far from well I have hade the device 10 hours now and have lost 8 calls in flight, had to reset the thing 6 times due to hangs (mostly in an app when you press the Green Phone Button)
Don't worry about that.
Send your message anyway and it will reach.
I tried it locally.
I'll try it internationally and let you know.
I was in the UK last week , and really poor performance on O2 , VF was better but I had so many "Cant Take The Call!"...
:!: I can confirm the bug. it amazes me, that this slipped past HTC quality control, since it is so obvious.
BTW: Replacing the "+" with "00" gets you into trouble with MS Outlook, which then cant parse the numbert any more.
Seems to be fixed allready.
ROM version 1.03.00 USA
ROM date 09/24/03
Radio version 1.05.12
I found that it can't cope with a leading zero in the STD code (e.g. +44(020)8.... ) but after correcting for that it worked just fine strait out of the box.

Not on my handset here with the same software as you stated. Mine does exactly the same thing, removes the prevailing + from the contacts number. Hopefully will be fixed in the next ROM upgrade.
Hi guys!
The "new" ROM version 1.60, either from T-mobile or Dangaard for Qtek 2020, does NOT show the problem with the leading +.
I had originally 1.03 USA, but can not confirm if the problem was there too.
Good luck.
T-mobile upgrade was the smoothest one I've made to date. Currently using the county-id-hacked one from Dangaard, cause I've a Qtek.

SMS Bug in new Qtek 2020 phone - unable to send to Vodafone
Hi all,
I just received my new Qtek 2020 PDA phone from Expansys in the UK, down here in New Zealand. At first things looked great (eg. working) but when I went to send an SMS message, it failed , no matter what format I used. Then I came across this forum where the same problem also existed. My phone has the following versions ...
ROM version 1.03.00 USA
ROM date 09/24/03
Radio version 1.05.12
Protocol Version: 1.337.12
ExtROM Version: 1.03.21
Does anyone know where an upgrade can be obtained for an unlocked Qtek 2020? I am still waiting on a response from Expansys.
Snowman.
well one have to make sure that one is using the localizer because it have alot to say about how such things are handled
The first Orange supplied M1000 devices were released at the sale in Denmark by Elgiganten, an electronics superstore, on December 27.
The price for the Orange sim-locked M1000 was 4299 DKR - or about 400 GBP. The Orange contract has a minimum period of 6 months with a DKR 117/GBP 11 monthly charge.
I managed to switch to my Telmore SIM card, giving me a 10 DKR / 1 GBP per MB GPRS plan with no monthly charge.
Orange supplies an extra battery (total of 2) , headset, leather case, cradle and extra stylus in the box.
I am very impressed by the device, due to the 128 MB of memory, I can now load and run Tom Tom 2 with the south Scandinavia map with no problems. I no longer have to switch between Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
ROM Version is 1.52.00WWE
Rom Date 10/23/03
Radion Version 1.05.16
Protocol version 1337.16
So far I have not found any problems apart from the missing radio buttons after running TomTom. The device runs perfectly with my Jabra 200 headset (late version, Nokia 3650 compatible), wakes up when incomming SMS'es are received etc.
While I do not see any reason to upgrade firmware at this pint, I would like to know if there are any improvements in more recent versions.
As I live in Denmark, I am also curious if the original keyboard for this device has Scandinavian characters. I have seen a infrared keyboard that does provide these (for us) important characters.

Michael
Hey
I have too purchased the Danish Orange M1000 (Qtek 2020 etc). I am very interested in hearing about the 1.60 ROM upgrade. Will it work on this device? And where can I get the danish keyboard layout?
Thx
T
....and by the way... Michael, have you enabled GPRS on Telmore? In that case, how???
GPRS on Telmore
First, naturally, I enabled GPRS using the Telmore website.
Secondly, I used the following settings
Select a name for the connection: TDC GPRS (anything goes)
Select a modem: Celluar Line (GPRS)
Access point name: internet
User name, password, Domain*: all blank
Advanced: No changes/default
That's it.
It works nice and fast. Connects in a few seconds and stays on until a reset or battery removal.
I am using the Spb GPRS Monitor to track utilizaiton.
Regards
Michael
you can as you most likely know get to the special letters on the onscreen keyboard by pressing å and e umloud key
as for a ir or cable external keyboard i doubt you'll find it if you think about the fact that MS havent nationalized windows CE pocketpc to danish most likely because of the too small market
so a external keyboard supporting a language which pocketpc kinda dont would be an even smaller market
i stand corrected

this product works for xda1 so it should work for xda2 aswell i suppose

There should be no problems in upgrading your M1000 phones to later ROM revisions, as long as it's done right, and the operator codes are changed in the ROM image as needed.
However, you should know that Orange in Denmark do not support any other version than their own M1000, as the owner of an Qtek 2020, i can only too well remember the hassle of getting the correct MMS settings ;o)
That said, if you need any assistance in getting your Danish M1000 working with a later ROM, and danish keyboard, just let me know.
Currently running ROM 2.06.00WWE on a Qtek 2020.

Hi Lars,
I would lvery much like to have some information about upgrading the software in a SPV m1000. I would like to be able to use another software/OS pack than the Orange supplied one. Can you help we with this?
-Michael
I bought and XDA exec from Crap phone wharehouse running on the 02 network. Today it decided to go tits up but deleting my maill accounts then locking me out on the password screen. it just siezed up. after several attempts I did a factory reset but now the phone function does not work. if you press any button or phone function it does nothing. when it first switched on and the "02" symbol comes up there is a small meesage in red that says GSM nit functioning.
The carphone warehouse suggested a rom update as I still have the same one from 11/2005, I have downloaded direct from 02 and registered the Emei etc. but when I run the Rom it comes up with " Update Country Error ID Code 120"
any ideas before I have to go thru the pain of sending the phone back and having a crappy little nokia on loan?
what I dont understand is its a UK model, bought in the Uk running on a UK provider
Allegedly, Orange have officially launched HSDPA, and branded it Orange 3G+.
http://www.business.orange.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?pagename=Business&c=OUKPage&cid=1044133173948
According to the fieldtest application, this does seem to be the case, although I've never actually managed download rates greater than around 300kb per second, the same as 'normal' 3G.
Has anybody managed to get correct HSDPA download rates on Orange, and if so, do we need some kind of SIM update or account setting changed?
Andy.
Hi Andy,
Funny you should mention this...Yesterday, I upgraded my M3100 with the wm6 lsvn version which as the radio 1.34.0010 and spl 1.10.oli version included. That night, after putting in my orange 3G settings that were in place before, I was shocked to see the 'H' symbol appear on the top!! I browsed around using the full opera web browser and some internet explorer ones, while connected to Windows Live! and everything appears much slicker. I am also from London, but also the H symbol never appeared on the original Orange software that was on the phone...
I guess Orange may have some restriction in place on their devices to prevent them using HSDPA yet *shrugs* But i'm convinced it was working for me with the custom 'cooked' WM6 rom! Is there any tool I could use to test this?
I'm innterested in an Orange cooked WM6 from for my M3100 - where can I get it?

I've since managed to find some active HSDPA in London, with my standard M3100, no new ROM's etc. Wasn't fantastic, but managed a download at about 450kbps so seems to be working.
I think that WM5 and/or the Radio ROM installed as standard with it doesn't show the 'H' icon, even though in theory it *is* HSPDA enabled.
This thread explains how to tell if definitely on HSDPA:

The fieldtest application is explained in the wiki I believe.
Andy.
I have searched and searched and couldn't find a thread concluding this issue with a solution.
I'm on Orange Israel, and apparently, not even udK's R8 is updated to have Orange 2G and Orange 3G in israel. i was wondering if anyone knows of a provider list i can download and replace with my own so i don't have to click that F**King annoying popup that "my provider is not supported" crap everytime. it's driving me nuts
I know some roms (as i've tried some others) DO include Orange 2G and Orange 3G.. so i guess it's somewhere in a ROM file or reg string.
Thanks in advance for any help.
