Has anyone figured out how to reset a Task alarm that pops up to anything other than 5 minutes? I sure miss the menu of time choices that 6.1 had. Or am I missing something??

this would apply to yor problem as well:
Edit the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Shell\Notification\OEM and then rename the following string "CustomUIDLL" in "CustomUIDLLX"
Or change the name of the dll to in*New.dll
+change the UseCutomUI value to 0

It's CustomUIDLL, not UseCustomUI. Just rename it to something else so the OS can't find it.

Rename "CustomUIDLL" to something else, or rename "NotificationLayout.dll" to something else in the registry???? I can't change the string name, just the string with Resco Editor. OR change the name of the FILE "NotificationLayout.dll" to something else?? Please clarify.

I can't say how you do it in Resco as I use Total Commander, but at a guess, I'd imagine it's the same as it's a similar method for system-wide renaming processes.
When you select "CustomUIDLL", don't just click it - hold it down and you should get a menu. Can you not rename the key there?
Sorry if that's telling you how to suck eggs!

Well, for a second I WAS sucking eggs. When I did a click and hold I was able to rename the string BUT I got an error message: "The source value "CustomUIDLL" does not exist." Then the entire line disappeared! So, now I've reentered a string named "CustomUIDLLX" with a value of "NotificationLayout.dll". What do you think? Am I on solid ground???
Thanks.

Yes mate - if you can't rename the existing one, then that's the next best thing, but delete the original key. The idea is that the OS looks for a value in CustomUIDLL and can't find it, so works how we want. The suggestion to rename the key is just an easy way of keeping it in case you want to roll back. You could, if you wanted to, just delete the key and get the same effect, but we all like a way to undo our changes.
What is this supposed to do? I have renamed the string but nothing seems different?
id just download bsb tweaks, as it has an option in there to change it. it does need the netframe 3.5 though. do a search and you'll find it.

My suggestion is that you install BsB Tweaks. I had some trouble creating the proper registry data; if you're unfamiliar with registry tweaks, messing with it can be dangerous. BsB Tweaks will remove the danger and give you what you want.

I'm going back on something I said previously now, but did you restart after making the registry change? The majority of windows based registry changes need a reset in order for them to take effect (so windows restarts and rereads the registry).
Incidentally, the registry change was basically renaming the key so that windows could not find it and would go back to a default action, which, in this case, is to offer a menu for snoozing, rather than just a straight snooze. It's suggested to rename it (rather than delete it) so you can rollback later, if you want to.
Hope this helps.

Does anyone know a way to put the date on the taskbar with the start button and time etc? I want to do this so I can remove the date from the today screen, and also so I can see the date from any window, like the time.

At section `Change the display of the clock in the taskbar`
Note: Once you've change the registry. Give it a good (say) 3-5 minutes for it to have it registered/stored before doing a soft reset. If the time/date doesn't change after soft reset, check the registry again, probably you didn't give it enough time to update. Although this reg edit is relatively harmless, back up your device before doing so.

Thanks, this worked great, I have the date on my taskbar now, however when trying to alter the short date I have a problem. If I do this example given, "To change the Short Date Format to show "Mon/2" = ddd/d" then this works fine. What I actually want is to show the day and the month, i.e. for the 5th June, i'd like it to display 05/06. I've tried to do this but it displays as "05/m". Any ideas why this happens?
bumpety bump!
You need to use an uppercase M, not lowercase m.
m = minutes, which is invalid in the date field, so it just uses 'm'
M = month, which is valid in the date field, and so should show the date.
Note that if you want the leading zero, you'll need to use MM.
What device or ROM does the Tweaks thread cover?
My Cingular 8125 doesn't have the key described for changing the clock and/or date on the taskbar. :?
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell has no "TBOpt" key on my 8125.
Anyone know where the tweak can be made on the 8125?
Thanks.

I tried to do this per instructions but the final 6 (5/5/06) cuts off. I tried to change it to short date but it didnt work. I had to add the SSDte key but it deletes everytime i restart the phone.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this issue? It appears the date is being cut off...
That's the space reserved for the X/OK button covering the 6.
I don't know how to change the date in the taskbar to the short date format. That would probably help.

Hey guys,
I need to switch the location of my contacts and calendar for my softkeys, anyone know how to do that?
Here is the location in the registry:
hkcu/software/microsoft/today/keys/112
This is for the calendar. Change "default" to the text you want displayed and "open" to the path of the app.
If it doesn't exist, create a new key called 113 under:
hkcu/software/microsoft/today/keys
same setup under 113 as 112.
Here's a slightly easier way of doing it. Download this file, rename the extension to .cpl and put in your \windows folder, soft-reset and then goto Start -> Settings -> System -> Soft-Key
See next below for the cab.
Here it is in Cab file for those who prefer a 'one-click' solution....
The control panel item in the cab kyphur attached above is integrated into the custom Cingular ROMs 2.24 and above...that I build anyway.

Was it present in Cingular_RUU_Wizard_AKU2.3_Custom_RNG_THM_A2DP_TEST.exe or perhaps added to the followup? I don't see the shortcut present in Start --> Settings --> System.
I don't particularly want it, but am more curious why I don't see it and wondering if there's anything more than just the radio ROM different between the two builds.
Thanks for all your hard work on this! I'm on record as the first to kiss your @$$ in my tagline. Though that guy offering to have your kids & seahorse stuff - well, that was a pretty strong show of support even if a bit spooky. I thought it might be cool if others running your custom ROMs did the same with their tags and you could see the positive impact on the community by a show of raw numbers.
just wondering im trying to map my left softkey to new sms and well it says cant find tnsms does any one know how to fix that or no
Summiter:
First, let me kneel, grovel, worship, etc. The new ROM is awesome!
However...
In the Softkey program that you included, you need to change the name of the file that "Calendar" accesses to just 'Calendar.exe', not 'HTCCalendar.exe'. (on the 8125, anyway).
Haven't tried the rest of the soft key functions, but that one had a little problem. Easy enough to fix:
HKCU
Software
Microsoft
Today
Key 113 (at least, on my machine, might be different...),
change the "Open" value to \windows\Calendar.exe.

Put the attached file in your \Windows folder and soft reset. Then you shoud be able to assign a soft-key to "New SMS" and it will work.

It's in test2..my bad. The radio and the softkey applet are the only things added to test2.
I don't need any thanks. I do like to see folks learning and asking productive questions though.
If you want to remove the softkey program, how do you do it? I can't delete the .cpl file from /Windows for the life of me. Thanks.
(Softkey is quite buggy... plus a lot of it's mappings are incorrect. Even if I edit the registry and change the mapping, softkey changes it back to the incorrect mapping upon soft-reset).
i might be needing this..
(anyone know how to tag a thread without bumping it?)
Hi All,
I am sure many of you have some tweaks for the Touch to make it a better phone. I prefare "Registry" tweaks, there is a little lag when you end call, like 3 seconds & i cant find the Tweak for it in the registry.
So if you have some tweaks you think they are usefull, please feel free to post them here.
Thank you All.

Yeah... in milliseconds... 3000 = 3, 1000 =1... pretty neat!

It reduces that lag from 3000ms to 1000ms (or whatever value you type)

Seems to be a very nice tweak for the Touch Dual.

where do i find that registry tweak downloader thing at?
I tried it on the Touch and I don't see any difference. What delay are you exactly talking about, is it the time the Touch takes to get back from the Dialing screen to the Home screen? If so, it doesn't work on the 'normal' Touch.
ok, i have exported the file using Klimregedit. just import it on ur elf & it should work, i have the settings set to 0 "ZERO" not 1000.

I made it as simple as possible to change your prefered Calendar Manager, I use ThumbCal, which seems quite popular here. As downloaded, the script is setup for ThumbCal, but to change it all you have to do is edit the first 2 lines with a text editor.
Run the script and your Softkeys, links, and "Today Plugin" all call up Thumbcal, run again and it switches back to Office (Outlook) Mobile!
Does not support 3rd party software, for SPB Mobile Shell support see this thread.
MortScript is requied, download it here.
I hope you find this useful!
To use:
1. Download and unpack the ZIP file.
2. Edit the first 2 lines in the MSCR file, notepad works fine for this.
set AltCalendarName, "ThumbCal"
set AltCalendarPath, """\Program Files\ThumbApps\ThumbCal\ThumbCal.exe"""
3. Copy to your device, and make a shortcut.
4. Click the shortcut and answer the "Yes or No" question.
5. Repeat step 4 to swap between the two calendar managers!
NOTICE: I have seen this many of times, some softkey mapping software (most likely Spb Mobile Shell, this one does it the worst) hijacks the "calendar" softkey and redirects it to the "exe" instead of the "lnk". In any case this patch will still effect the Calendar Today Plug-in. You can remap your softkey with the mapping utility, how ever Spb Mobile Shell limits what you can select, so an additional one is recommended.
WOW..great thinking..
It has been asked abt Hundred of times to replace the Default Crappy Calender
Any screen shoot???
this is EXACTLY what i was looking for. thank you very much. if it doesn't take too much of your time and you can make one for changing the HTC Home Media Player to S2P instead of MP or HTC Audio Manager.. it would be fantastic.
THANK YOU
Just what I have been waiting for. There was nothing worse than having calendar items on the today screen, then pressing on them and it taking me to the default calendar, which I dont even use anymore. i had taken calendar off my today screen altogether. Now its back!!! thanks a bunch for this one.

Will be looking into that this week, looks complicated at the moment, but I think it will be possible.
is this not working for anyone else? :/
EDIT: NiteStalker, I checked my file paths, and everything is correct, when I press the .mscr file to toggle calendars, it tells me my default calendar has changed, but when I actually check my calendar "softkey" it has not changed.
Is there another script I could run to acheive the same effect?
UPDATE: I have also tried changing the File paths, and then changing the file location acoordingly with no result. I'm going to try to run it from the root, and see if it works.
UPDATE II: Launch off the root doesnt work, im going to check and see if the original Calendar is in the place referenced in the script for my device. (XV6900)

I run it from \Application Data\Mortscripts, but where its placed doesn't matter. When I run it my 'Softkey', 'Program Menu Link', and 'Today Screen Calendar Plug-in' all work. I'm using ThumbCal 0.51, but it shouldn't matter what app you run.
If the today plug-in works, but your softkey isn't, it's possible you have remapping software changing the default calendar link. If you have a softkey editor ensure it's pointed to the "calendar.lnk" in your start menu.
Also make sure you have 3 quotations (""") in front of and after the {set AltCalendarPath, """\Program Files\ThumbApps\ThumbCal\ThumbCal.exe"""}. If your missing even one, it will malfunction.
If none of this works, I don't know what to say, except that I run it on WM6.1, and my friend runs WM6.0, and it works on those.
I'm stumped, can anyone point me in the right direction?
EDIT: one sec. i posted at the same time as you. im reading.

Well, I re-installed TouchCal and whent back to the original script, it works on the today plugin, but not the softkey, so, as you said somethiing is being remapped. How would I fix this?

find your remapping software, "EZ Softkey" or "Mobile Shell 2" and remap to the "calendar.lnk" in the start menu.

How about a plot twist, I've never heard of either, and havent used any form of remapping software, should I just remap it to the correct place anyhow?
I may as well give it a shot.
UPDATE! I did it, when I looked at the mapping of the softkey it was going to "calendar.exe" instead of "calendar.lnk" so I just mapped it straight to touchCal for now, but now im curious and want to see if i can find the "calendar.lnk"

Calendar.lnk is in [\windows\startmenu\programs] usually, it can move around there. Remapping to that would allow you to successfully swap between the apps if needed.
ANYWAY I am glad we were able to solve your problem.

Hi,
I realize that this question was asked a million times on the forum, but I've been looking for a solution since yesterday and just can't find it
Can anyone tell me how can I change the default touch input language (T9) on Windows Mobile 6.5? I'm using the Rhodium Manila with the new Keyboard and I have by default english language (I'd like to have polish).
I cannot change this in any way. I've tried to do it by registry in several keys, but it won't work.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Hey,
for me this worked:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3865875&postcount=362
else you can change HKLM\Software\HTC\ezsip\BioToShowMenu to 1 (in registry) and wait for few seconds.. (not more than 10sec) that "starts" the sip-menu, and you can click on your language
maybe it says [unknown] in the menu, then click there, that brings you to the language submenu
hope that helps you

Great! It helped, thanks a lot
Sorry for the double post, just wanted everyone to notice it
I've made a cab, which changes the registry value (thanks to tomoffel), so that you have easy access to the SIP Menu. I tried to do it as a reg file, but it would require some additional program to run it.
Just install it (don't mind if it shows 'The installation was unsuccesful') and voila
The cab is rather only for WM6.5, where the SIP menu is hidden.
great idea! Thank you!
just poping up the SIPmenu after "installation"?
btw. found the BioToShowMenu entry by playing around in the registry, don't know if this was known befor maybe that helps to fix the SIP menu in 6.5?
Yeah, exactly I thought that changing the reg value everytime I want to change the language or keyboard type is a but uncomfortable. It's a pity though that running reg files requires some additional software, because it would be faster.
That's some nice discovery of you with that reg value I'm not that so much in WM, but I hope this can help!
Ok, here's the other way. You have to install an app (FdcSoft Task Manager), it will associate reg files, so that after clicking one the reg value will be changed.
Here's the reg file content:
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\ezsip\]
"BioToShowMenu"=dword:00000001
The last line must be empty!
Credits for finding the reg key go to tomoffel
And here's the ready file in the attachment.
great and awesome! works like a charm

Good to know Here's another upgrade to access the menu faster - just do a shorcut and put it into start or assign a hardkey for it
I assigned the shortcut to GScrolls Launch function now wenn I tap back and center, the SIP-Menu comes up! Thank you again
now you/we/the uber pros just have to find a way how the "SIP-Button" shows that menu.. but it looks like nobody is interesstet :/
Offtopic:
can you add new words to the xt9 database? This never worked for me :/ neither after hardrest nor after installing another sip that uses the xt9 :/ (just ask because I see you use the same ROM )
That's a good idea with assigning the menu to GScroll, will try it myself
I noticed already yesterday that adding new words to t9 doesn't work It could be an issue with the rom we are using. Would be nice to have some feedback from anyone with a different rom...
yes.. pretty poor nobody on the ROM thread could give me an answer :/ I will play a little with the registry and file from ezSIP maybe I'll find another "solution"
