Using the People tab in Sense is great for adding quick links for people, but I'm finding it very annoying that (unless I'm doing it wrong - far from impossible!) you can add people for instance EITHER as call OR text etc so it automatically does that action the moment you press the contact in question.
That's a pain in the arse because I want to have shortcuts there for people so I can just press it and get the option of texting/calling/emailing them etc, not being limited to one automatic means of contacting them.
I hope that makes sense, and apologies if I'm just not using it correctly but if I am, I can't suss how to do this!
Thanks!
I agree, and gladly there is a solution
When you select a person to add, it comes up with "view contact card" "mobile number", "message" etc.. Just select "view contact card".
Then when you click that person, you get a list of contact options.
Alternatively, if you DO want to have it call or message a particular person (someone you only ever text, for example), then you can set it to do that when you click the picture, or just click their name (below the picture), and it opens the contact card.

what you need to do is click on the name underneath the pic on the grey area, then you get the option to call/text/email.
Thanks guys - glad I put the old stupidity disclaimer in there. Duh!!
I'll look harder at the options next time, honest!

Hi guys, new to the forum, thought i'd start off slowly haha.
This is an extremely simple question, but i had no idea where else to ask. I've been trying to select things on my Blackstone but cannot select anything without also opening it. For instance, i want to select an old note in order to delete it. The only thing i can think of is tapping it and this obviously opens it. Same thing for old or duplicate messages in a text conversation. I can select messages but only if i tap the contact, then press back to return the conversation. Its then highlighted blue and i can delete it. Any ideas on how to do this? Its simple but infuriating!

Tap AND Hold the stylus down until a menu pops up - most applications will respond differently to tap and hold.
I also learnt this early on and it surprised my at first !

Is there an app like this for Android - CDMA Hero?

Wow, I haven't seen that screen in awhile. And to be honest, I never used it when it was on my old vogue. It seems like a good shortcut in theory, but it actually used more button presses to get things done.
Perfect example was for sending a text...
Open Action menu
Hit the Send new sms button,
tap contact to bring up the contact list
find contact to send it to
then type message.
I always found it a whole lot faster to just open up my texts and hit reply. And with the home screen allowing any app you want right there, you can always tap the program itself to go directly into contacts/sms/calendar/etc (thereby completely eliminating the need for the action menu).
I know it's not the answer you're looking for, just my $.02
the HD2 has done something strange with programs that use dropdown menus - it has replaced them with a bar.
this is fine for some apps where you can use the slider at the side of the screen in order to scroll, but where there is a small box which just drops down a short list of data for you to choose from, the bar replaces the box, stops the list dropping down and thereby disables you from using the dropdown menu.
is there any way to stop it behaving in this way and reverting to the old form of dropdown menus?
thanks

I think I know what you mean. Can you give an example of where this happens?
"a picture paints a thousand words" but unfortunately I don't have a camara with me so can't take a picture to upload (at the moment).
An example is a program which give a list of dates in a dropdown menu - on my HD, that is fine, tap the box, the list of dates drops down, and I can select one. On the HD2, however, no dates drop down, but a bar appears inside the box, it's the sort of bar that appears at the side of screen when you use your finger to grab the side-bar and slide down a long window quickly.
That's the best description I can give in words. I was talking to someone who couldn't use the HD2 as it prevented him from using one particular app which used dropdowns extensively to enable selection of items from dropdown lists.
Hope that helps - can't find anything on it in the tips and tweaks, and searching generally reveals nothing at all.
Can't believe I am the only person with this problem/issue.

Again, I think I know what you mean.
Did you know you can scroll by moving the items in the dropdown up and down? You don't have to use the scrollbar. Obviously, if the dropdown is too narrow that won't work as you'll open the scollbar when you try to grab an item.
The alternative is to try a different theme. That might sound daft, but there was a thread a while back discussing how to get the popout scrollbar working and it turned out that it doesn't work on most of the themes. (I believe it only works on the HTC Black one).
Maybe that would help?
I think you do know what I mean!
As you rightly say, when I tap the scrollbar that has appeared inside the dropdown box, that opens up the entire list in a different screen, and so for this program at least, that is the workaround. Whether that works for all other programs that use dropdowns is another question of course.
I am using HTC Black - which I prefer as a theme, I try some others when work subsides and see if that helps.
thanks for quick posting.

I would like to know this too
I was very interested too.
Thanks, Franky

As much as I hate bump-chain-reactions, this is one thing not even google could help finding... actually it's just full of people asking for this bit of info, yet noone gets an answer
