It's a default in Windows Mobile calender not in HTC's
If you want to turn it on change the following regkey:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Calender\ShowLunarCalender from 0 to 1
But again: it only work in Windows Mobile calender
No such key in LEO.
I have this in my registry and I have switched the value to 1. Thanks Garcia for the information.
The WM calendar is inside the Outlook folder of Start Menu. If you have already changed the registry to show lunar calendar, this WM calendar will show it. Alternatively you can use other utilities, eg. SKTools to switch on lunar calendar.

Yes.
After applying tweak in reg, go to Outlook, Calendar, Menu, Tools, Options, Start in: Lunar
Tibetans Buddhists & Hebrews use lunar calendar
After applying tweak in reg, there isn't Lunar in Start in. Only month, year, day, week and agenda view.
But very strange, first time run the calendar, it never show lunar calendar eventhough Lunar is selected. Close it and run again, Lunar calendar then shows.
Why is this so ?

And what will happen? I get an extra page in the calendar called Lunar. It only shows me the day of month (D02, D03, D04, etc). How can I tell which month it is? is the info available in other views (eg day, agenda, when editing an appointment)?

There's a little app out there called 'pocket holidays'. It has traditional and modern holidays for many nations and cultures (from Ramadan to Peru National Day.) It has an option to export selected holidays for year 'x' to your regular calendar, where they show up as all day events.

unfortunately the lunar view is not like other views.
forexample, instead of D01 we see M11 that minds this month is lunar november.
Now I see! I checked out 2/2010 because it is the only month I know where the lunar days are, and saw M01. I thought M means start of month, and didn't realise 01 means it is month #1.
Now that I know what to expect, I noticed that there is also Lnn for leap months

I have some WM5 Calender problems on my Trinity.
When I view my calender on Month view, my "all day events" do NOT show as small square boxes.
However, if the "all day event" was created with the Trinity then it shows fine and syncs with Outlook 2003 fine.
But, if the "all day event" was created with Outlook 2003 and synced with ActiveSync 4.2 then it doesn't show.
Although my "all day events" DO show when in Day view on trinity.
Is this a known issue or am I missing something?
Thanks
As far as I haved worked out, if the all day event is set as "free" then it will not show as a box in the month view. If its set to anything else, "busy", "out of office", "tentative", it will show up in month view.
Hope this helps.
People's birthdays don't show up in Calendar. Is that normal? I could have sworn they used to show up on my HTC Wizard.
Did you set options to sync all events or only for a certain period?

I kinda forgot where you set that.
Speaking of which, is there a registry hack for making Month view the default view for Calendar?
Thanks.
Changing the events to anything BUT "free" worked.
I read that Outlook defaults All Day Events to "free" and Appointments to busy. So I had to change all birthdays, etc.
I also would love to default to Month view on PPC...
IT WORKED!!!!

THANKS!!! I was able to fix the problem in minutes thanks to you!!! Is there a way to set ALL appointments as busy?
Hi,
I am running Windows Mobile 5 (on a HTC P3600).
On the calendar, is there a way of way of displaying "Active Appointements"
as there is with Outlook 2003 which I run on my Desktop PC and sync to?
If there isn't, does this feature exist in Windows Mobile 6?
I think this feature is a must have. Without it how do you have a snapshot
look at all your approaching appointments? It would take an age to keep scrolling the days.
If its in WM6 I will upgrade
Thanks
Also WM5 calendar doesnt look great with reminding, e.g. only 15, 30, 45mins etc.
What if I want to be reminded 7days in advance so I can buy a gift or send a card. Is this feature in WM6? Or do I have to buy another calendar program? And if so, whats the best one. Nice and simple but functional with not too many bells and whistle.
Thanks again!
You really need Pocket Breeze from SBSH, or SpB Diary.
Both are Today plug-ins that have tabs for the views you want.
I use TodayAgenda on my Trinity. It is a great calender program and you can customize it pretty much to any settings you want. It is also free, so that is nice.
Thanks guys.
For the 3 programs you hav mentioned, do all of them all me to set extended reminders for appointments, say a birthday. Or am I restricted to 15, 30, 45min etc.
Also, which one is the best?
Thanks
Also, if I already have reminders set up on my Outlook 2003 calendar on my desktop pc, say 7days before an appointment, will these settings carry over onto the new plugin program when I sync up? Or is that a step too far?
I would prefer a program that reads my desktop Outlook settings.
Does anyone know?
Thanks.
TBH, I don't know about whether Outlook reminders carry across. I would suppose no, because all the add-on programs still use the underlying Pocket Outlook engine/data.
Pocket Breeze and SpB Diary are both availble as trials, so it may be worth playing. PB is more configuarble, but Diary has a slightly better interface.
Both have a Special tab for recurring events like birthdays, and can be set to display any time in advance. I think they can be set to place the special event on the main diary tab at configurable intervals- 1 day, 3 days, 1 week etc, but I don't know about audible reminders.
Thanks Neil.
Am, I also right in thinking that the calendar in WM6 doesn't offer the reminder functionality that I need?

I've just looked in my Calendar and in fact it does do what you want- this is WM6, but I'd be surprised if WM5 wasn't the same
Open Calendar and go to the day you want to set the Event. Select the time, All Day, etc, then set 'Occurs' box to whatever is the appropriate interval.
Now tap Reminder, and set to Remind Me.
Once that is set, you can tap the left box below to set the integar, and the right box to set Minutes, Hours, Days or Weeks.
So, your example of a reminder 7 days before the event is easy. Hope this works in WM5

This feature exists even in WM5. See the second tab of the calendar settings.
Thanks guys. This reminder feature does work. I will check tonight whether the setting from Outlook 2003 come across in the sync (I'm guessing that they will).
Just a shame you cant see a list of all approaching appointments. That's a feature that I *do* want.
Is there anyway to enable the way when I typed in any Contact's Birthdate and it will automatically show in Calendar which i don't need to add it for the 2nd time in Calendar???
You don't have to add the birthday again manually.
It will automatically become an ALL DAY EVENT for that day itself.

Try to tap on the day of your friend's birthday and you should be able to see it as an ALL DAY EVENT.

If you are will to spend 15 EUR, go for Thumbcal, it automatically includes birthdays as events in your calendar. If you don't wanna spend that sum, search for a tool named Darkanniv on Modaco or Google.
http://www.smartphone-freeware.com/download-ct-birthday-v0-9.html
I requested something similar as well. I would also like my phone to have an actual notification sound on bdays. I will try that CT bday exe
update: ct birfday doesnt install on wm6.5 i guess. Installation of cab always unsuccessful. maybe i should reboot both my systems.
is there any way to show up the contact's birthdate without adding any 3rd party app? i know there is a way which mentioned in the previous post, which is through outlook sync, but i don't use outlook as well, any help?
Well there's a pretty easy way to do it but you need to do just a little bit more work. I do this and it's pretty easy. All you need to do is go to the exact birthdate of your contact so say James was born on 15th March 1985, So i would go to 15th March 1985 and set up his birthday there as a recurring all day event with Alarm. Now not only will your phone alert you of the birthday every year but it will also tell you how many years old he is that year with the age in brackets... Third party software like thumbcal really makes things easy but it's not necessary once you're used to doing this...

hahaha, what a cute way to solve this problem, although i know it'll take a longer time to do it, but i think it works, thx anyway, but i do really hope to have an easier way which when i insert it to contact's birthday and it will automatically show up in calendar, thx for the method, will try out then
Sync with Outlook
Outlook looks at contact birthdays and automatically puts them in your calendar. When you sync, they'll be there on your device calendar as well

is there any other ways beside sync with outlook but not using 3rd party application?
Not that I'm aware of
Is there any way to display upcoming birthdays/anniversaries on home screen of HTC Sense 2.5 (US T-Mobile HD2) ?
I mean ... w/o generating them as appointments
i think there's no way,
because it's linked with the htc and outlook calendar.
nokia s60 (e66) calendar has the same problem because it's based on mso calendar to sync it.
you only can set it as "whole day" - "every year" appointment with a 2 day reminder ).
works good for me
and i can sync it to every mso compatible device.
(or you should think about a homescreen tweak and a other calendar)
ok i´m wrong

I ended up using ManilaBirthday too ... but did not like the idea .. I mean ... having to start separate application to check if somebody has birthday devalues whole idea of having birthday REMINDER on front page, so it does in fact REMINDS you
Manila Birthday also has that "generation of calendar entries" ... which is OK, but I'm not sure how does it work if I change birthday date. May be I just need to regenerate.
Oh well ... I guess that is my best choice ... I really miss SPB Mobile Shell with birthday reminders.
I'm quite shure this has been up here before, tried to search but couldn't find it. Is there a way to have the calendar show what week it is? Like, 1,2,3,4 etc?
Mine have weekly, but don't show me what week it is.
Bump!
no one knows?
Try it with "SPB Mobile Shell v.3.5.3"
You have an option in calendar to show the "week number"
