I may have learnt the hard way, I was not aware that by default files stored on the storage card are encrypted. I took a load of pictures on friday and just upgraded the firmware to 1.61 only to discover that I can no longer read the pictures. All the files are stored as .menc and if the phone is reflashed or hard reset the encryption key is lost.
If anyone knows of a way to recover encrypted files please let me know.
Thanks
Read this, it's not much, I know...

I'm used to save the files I use most on the SD Card I have on my iMate K-Jam...
These files are mostly NOTES, XLS files, and RECORDINGS...
This morning, without any special behaviour from my K-Jam, I did not found half of the 15 files I had on the card yesterday.
I'm SURE I did not delete them by accident... I was working on them last night before going to sleep and this morning when I searched them they were no more there...
BTW: I have SunnySoft Backup Manager backing up my K-Jam before my waking up in the morning (one hour before I wake up), but unfortunately I thought it was unuseful to backup SD-Card contents on the SD-Card itself... so the only files I can Restore are the ones which were on the most unsafe (till today) support...
Did anyone else report anything similar ?
Could this be a problem of any other kind ?
It's my first time after more than four months of use on this device...
At your disposal for any other further information you would need to investigate this deeper...
Best regards.
All my files disappeared on my 8125. When I check the card memory they were still there taking the space but you could not see the folders or anything. I put it in a card reader and the same thing. Seems the files just disappeared but were on the card. I had to format it and then reinstall all my programs that were on the card. Not sure what happened.
Try out Easy Recover.
I has same problem about 1 month!
My solution was recover files with:
PC Inspector File Recovery
and then format SD.
I think was a program (maybe sonysoft Backup!)... not sure...
i lost my complete my documents folder from my mini sd card recently. lost all of my pics and documents. not a happy bunny.

Had the same thing.
I couldn't figure out WHEN it happened (meaning, files disappeared after I phoned someone, that kind of thing)
What I did, after this had happened for a second time, was, back up my card.
When I found the mini-SD card empty again (but still seeing that 400 or so MB's wher "in use"), I copied the back up, and after I did one file, ALL THE FILES re-appeared in the mini-SD card......
really weird
Anita
I need some help from the community to know how I can restore the files on my 2GB Kingston microSD!
My TyTN crashed today (as it does about once a month max, WM5), but this time it booted back with no more files or folders on the memory card.
The weird thing is, the memory gauge still says it has 1.6GB of data on it, and I get the same reading when I plug-in the microSD card in my USB card reader (ie: no files and folders, but card 70% full).
I suspect that the file table is corrupted or something of the sort. I would need a way to restore it since the data seems to be still there.
I would really like to avoid having to revert back to my SPB Backup file that dates a few months since I have many new files and software installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Eric

Maybe bad SD
I hate to say it, but I had some similar weird issues and the problem was just that the SD had gone bad. I just got a new one and everything was back to normal.
Thanks eliran9
Your input is much appreciated.
There seems to be hope...
I tried "Restore Digital Camera Deleted Pictures". It was very easy to set up and worked quite well... but only seemed to be able to restore pictures! I could see thumbnails of pictures I have/had on my microSD card, but no mention of all my other files.
I then tried a free tool called "PC Inspector File Recovery". With this one I could see all of the folders and files with their extensions, but without the file and folder names... arg, I'm almost there!
I didn't get it to work with "VirtualLab Data Recovery", but I'll try it again tonight, maybe there's an option I didn't see. I will also try "Recover My Files Data Recovery".
Unless someone has a better tool to suggest.
Hi, I did a master reset on my samsung focus without backing up any sort of personal content before.
Now I want to recover my deleted files.
Is there any chance/way that I can do this?
I already have my focus showing up as mass storage on windows explorer, and tried to use RECUVA to work on it, but it still says its not a mass storage.
Do you guys think if I take the sd card out and plug it in the laptop straight up it will work?
Or is there any easier/better way?
Thanks a lot in advance
Sadly, no. The contend is 1) encrypted and 2) inaccessible, unless you're rooted. It's like trying to open an encrypted drive when you don't know with what it's been encrypted with.
Thanks for the answer, but I don't believe it.
Its gotta be possible somehow.

I'm just trying to help. You have to understand 2 things:
1. You're assuming that the media (you're looking to recover) is on the microSD card. Wrong. No one knows where it goes, the OS decides. And that is because when you insert a microSD card and reset, it becomes part of the phone's memory, as one single module, if you prefer. So if you try to save something, the OS will decide where it goes (in which part of the memory). It should probably fill the internal memory first... but it's a guess.
2. The only way to access the content of a microSD card you need
- root access (developer unlock)
- this program installed (somehow)
As I said, the card is otherwise encrypted (and evidently it's content).
Having these 2 steps done doesn't guarantee you will see anything on the card. I don't know where the master file system table (or it's equivalent) is stored or anything about the file system, for that matter. I will leave this answer to the experts
I hope it's clearer now why it's VERY difficult. Not impossible. So if you find a way, do share it.
Good luck!

I wonder, isn't that the whole purpose/effect of a master (hard) reset?
Suppose that you sell your phone to a stranger, would you like that person to be able to recover YOUR personal content?, I think not
Hi,
Today I upgraded my Meizu MX5 to Flyme 6.1.0.0G, using Method 2 detailed in the following tutorial: https://forum.meizufans.eu/topic/25...ional-firmware-on-your-chinese-mainland-meizu
It wasn't the first time I used this method to upgrade my firmware version. Unfortunately, this time something went wrong during the process, and though my phone booted up successfully with the new firmeware, I had noticed that I could no longer access my internal storage through the file browser (it crashed everytime). In addition, I couldn't copy files to my phone using PC. It seems like the phone's sd card has become unreadable and I can no longer make any change in it.
I am really hopeless, and don't know how to fix it. All I want now is to go back to my previews firmware (I already have the image). Yet, I don't know how to do that, because I now can't even copy the image to my SC Card...
I feel so lost right now, and I'll appreciate any help you might be able to provide!
I'd appreciate any help!
I'm guessing it's because of the latest firmware update, but I used to have all my folders (Documents, Music, Pictures, Download, Textra just to name a few) default save location to my SD card. I no longer can. Now, the only one I can get to go there is just my pictures. This made it easy for me when I needed to wipe phone and start fresh again. Does anyone know if I would need to Root my phone in order to override this and do it on my own? I have rooted in the past, but haven't in years due to the freedom we had. Any help or info would be great!
Thanks!
