Spotify - HD2 General

One thing I'd love to have is an equivalent to Spotify. I know they have an app for iPhone (that co-incidentally requires a monthly premium subscription!).
Can anyone suggest a decent alternative?

And use the SEARCH before posting.

Brilliant. Thank you.
I was sure I'd searched a few days ago and found nothing?!

Try groovefish, its free!!!!!!

blogging software for windows mobile

i've seen a ton of software available for twitter, but I haven't seen that much for full blogging, which i find odd, anyone use a really good one. btw I use blogger, but am willing to change if there is a really good app that only uses something like wordpress.
I guess I'll continue searching, I was just hoping someone had something that they used that they could recommend.

Lot's of stuff here:

That was the first result when I googled "windows mobile blog software". Looks like quite a few other good results in there as well.

Google navigation available for free

Now I dont know how many people actually know about this but after searching the net I found this:
http://www.google.com/mobile/navigation/
The voice sounds a little computerized but it works a treat, also you can navigate using street view or satellite view.
Does anyone know how to change the voice?
Little bit old, there's a ton of threads in the General forum about this - it was reported here first before the media got onto it!!

oh I'm sorry but I just don't understand your reply... what was reported here first... how to change the voice on Gmaps or.. I'd like to know how to do that too
on the 24th (I think) a member here realised he had navigation on Google Maps without having to use the hack. He posted here and tipped off Engadget and then everyone found out and reported it
it is because navigation is working in the UK. it was only available in the US before he mention. now we are hoping it will be working for more countries soon...

I'm actually quite impressed with it, especially considering it's free. The fact the voice says road names is great.

not wanting android, but wanting a source for apps/games

hey all, ive been browsing these forums for quite a while. and i found tons of useful things, and tons of people *****ing about the thingss they dont understand.
id like to consider myself somewhat knowageable... nothing like the developers, but no dummy....
however i am looking for a way to get apps/games for the HD2... free things, things to pass time as i did on my last phones. is there a website, or a thread i havent found.... ive searched already.
can anyone send me off in the right direction???
thank you in advance!
Aside from the forums, and Windows Marketplace ( ), there's Omarket http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/omarket/
sweet, yeah i know the marketplace, but theres nothing worth what they are asking... but yeah ill check that out. i appreciate it! thanks daemonfly
And check out the place that omarket is listed at too, http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/
Google Windows Mobile Games and you will see tons.
If you are willing to pay for them www.handango.com is a slick site too.
Three out of the last four fridays, Handango has given away a free app which is usually only sold for a fee. Worth a look.
thanks guys, ill check them out. you guys are awesome...
happy hunting

Check out Xtrakt and Experiment 13 - They were Sony Ericsson commissions for the Xperias, and are the best games I've come across for native WinMo (so excluding emulators) . Also, there's a pretty good port of Doodle Jump in French on Omarket. Think it's the Blackberry version, since it's touch controlled rather than G-sensor, but pretty awesome nonetheless.

What books are good for teaching myself android app development?

Sam's teach your self android development in 24 hours?
Sent from my Nexus S 5g.
I have purchased this book, Android Wireless Application Development, its a pretty good book. For me personally, no book or no course could ever teach me anything in 24hrs, I need to practice with examples to get the hang of things. While trying to develop I found online is actually better than most books.
Stackoverflow (Android) has been a great resource for me, as well as the Android Developers site. Sorry I am new here so I can post links, but you can google them.
I have used SAM's books before, and they have been OK.
I agree with spawn782 though, I found online resources were better than any book. Stakoverflow is great if you run into problems.
The ones you find in Comp Sci college classes
Head First Java is a great book for beginners. You won't get bored at all.

I read a couple of books. by far the for dummies book and wrox's beginning android are the best..
Which one?
How do you think Professional Android 4 Application Development (Wrox Professional Guides) and Pro Android 4 (Professional Apress) would compare? I am considering purchasing one of these. I have heard good stuff about them both... Has anybody had both of them?

I tried googling for a comparison of the two books, but I was unable to find one. Maybe it was only the lack of proper search terms.
Now that you said about it, I remember seeing a book list on the android developers page, but can't find it now...

So nobody has bought both of them? Maybe I'll just buy the more expensive one(not big difference), and wish it's also the better one

Review for Review!

Hi, I just published a new game and I would like to get some good ratings to start well! Rate my app and g1+ and post here your name, I will do the same with your app.
The link to Google Play is: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GameSin.ZombieAttack
I rated it now, with the name Jose Mari. Actually the application doesn't crash, it seems like android just kills it for some reason. It happens sometimes to Dolphin when I'm browsing a webpage with a lot of images and stuff, so I suspect I don't have enough memory to load all the assets or something like that. It's a shame because I really wanted to try it
I tried a lot of reviewers too but I didn't get an answer, or just the usual here is our paid review offer... I will keep trying though! And also a similar bug happened to me once but I haven't been able to reproduce it either, I looked at the code like crazy and I didn't see any possible cause. I hope it doesn't happen often!
Sorry folks, trading reviews is not very honest and not in the spirit of true development, where free exchange of ideas and respectful contributions should be made. Using XDA to create this exchange is not very honest in that those who do not know XDA exists will get a false sense that all these apps are all 5.0....Let's be fair here, creating these "exchanges" is not really what XDA is for..
These threads will be summarily closed. So, use this thread and all the others here at XDA for their true intentions.
Thanks
