I just got a message saying that I was able to get the upgrade for my phone I tried to download it but I lost my 3G (Which has been happening lately I don't know if its a nationwide problem or just were I live its been happening since last week) Anyway back to the subject how do I check for the upgrade again it said it would try to download again with the next sync how can I make it happen manually? Please help I want 6.5 lol
And I guess this confirms that 6.5 will be coming to the T-Mobile Touch Pro 2.
This article may be of interest to you.
If you really want WinMo 6.5, just head over to the ROMs section and flash away. But if you don't want to HSPL, you'll need to wait. I reckon you should be able to see the official update here when it arrives.
When did you get this message?
I will be calling them in the morning as I have not got any message about an upgrade, and they promised to text me as soon as it became available
I checked the T-Mobile website and it says that the update will be available on the 6th of January but I got the message from the Windows Mobile app. I'm always for some reason getting the updates early when I had the sidekick I got the update a month early. When I had the G1 I got my updates a month or two before the official release. And I'm mad because the download failed and it said it would download again with the next sync but I can't get it to attempt a download again.
Labarum-If and when the update becomes available you won't receive a text from t-mobile for an update thats not the way they do it. Usually its a screen that pops up over whatever your doing and it stays there until you confirm or deny the update for later.
ohyeahar-I know about the ROMs but I don't want to flash till I get the update and if I don't like it I will flash to a new rom.

O and calling T-Mobile won't do anything to tell you the truth they will either tell you that they don't know when the update will become available or tell you that you have to wait till January 6th. And tell you to check here for the update http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/ Sorry to tell you this but thats what they always do when I call them or when friends of mine call them the people over the phone can't give you all the details since most of them are being recorded and if they do give you more details than they are suppouse to they can get in trouble if not fired for it.

Hello this is my first post. Just wanted to say hi.
Well I have an unlocked G1 running on AT&T and I was wondering how are we suppose to get updates if they are OTA and I assume you would need t-mobile for that.
Is there a way to manually do it? Is there someway to download it directly to the phone from a source?
Thanks alot.
I sure wish I had that t-mobile SIM that I had. I assume it wont work if it is canceled right?
I have a feeling people who have them unlocked are going to get screwed and have security holes up the wazzoo...
i have talked to tmobile multiple times about this. no one seems to know the answer. I have a t-mobile sim card in my phone right now just to see if it will update. the card is the one that came with the phone, show it shows the t-mobile service, it just will not let me call or anything. I am hoping that it will update this way then I can put my att card back in. I will probably leave the t-mobile in every night while I sleep and the phone charges just to see if it will actually work. I will keep you guys posted as to if it works or not.
I have yet to get my OTA update and I am on T-mobile. I was going to unlock my phone, and I have a question. Does your G1 work ok with data on AT&T market and all? plz let me know I have someone that is tempted to buy one at full retail and just take mine after I have it unlocked.
Thanks
it would seem to me that legally, they have to provide the patch at some point due to the GPL... it also must be provided free of charge..
when they offer it is a different story, but legally, anyone who has it, who share it (if they knew where it was cached) with no legal issues
Only Google doesn't use the GPL.
But yes, that's true. The source for everything that's free-and-open (we know there are parts of the OS that aren't) should be made available. Whether or not (and/or when) they offer the update as a binary is anybody's guess, like most things with the G1/Android.
maybe the evil FSF will get involved!?

The info is also posted on this forum/site under the development area... sorry I don't have a link handy.

did we ever find out if OTA updates get pushed to G1's on other carriers automatically?
The will be pushed to all G1's on a data connection. I repeat ALL G1's on a DATA connection.
I am on AT&T and just got the OTA update yesterday morning. I found this instruction on the internet (could have been sticky from this site) on how to get OTA update the original way.
I download Anycut from app store, create a shortcut for Device info, scroll all the way down and click on download button. Your G1 will call home and it'll appears that nothing else is happening on the screen.
I did this around 9pm Sunday morning, leave my wifi on, phone plugged in for charging and when I woke up my G1 greeted me with new firmware update screen (RC30).
Few issues that I found:
Home and call button are not responding (nothing happen when pressed) and I had to do a system restore to fix it. G1 security screen stop working even after turning security on and off - system restore fixed this. The Built in IM stop working when trying to connect via AT&T Edge, it complain that IM program can't read my phone number off SIM card - WIFI + IM client works without any problems.

Noting that those are are all symptoms of a Setup Wizard call that ended badly somehow.
The guy who discovered this first:
http://inportb.com/2008/11/28/disabling-the-screen-lock-on-android/
I discovered it accidentally, by playing with Any Cut a little bit too much. Heh.
Ah... I see my experience with Setup Wizard funkiness is not an isolated case. At any rate, I did not have to perform a factory reset, as re-running Setup Wizard resolved the issue.
I just got a text from Tmo about an update for my HD2. Anyone else get this?
Yes, there is a thread about this exact same thing on here already.
its the same update they had 3 weeks ago.
Thats what I was thinking. Thanks. Just thought it was strange it just came through now.

Im guessing they delayed the txt to give those in the know the chance to get it before the server is brought to its knees a 2nd time when the mass public starts downloading it
So SHOULD the masses downlaod and install this update? Is it worth having? And having to re-install everything?
I have applied and after i had freezes and had slow response time for most apps. I then did a hard reset which seems to have helped, running strong for a few days. Is it worth it? Not sure, but i do like the new Swype and the freezing i was getting on messages on the previous ROM is gone.
Interestingly, though I downloaded and installed the original 2.13 ROM offered a couple weeks ago on Tmo's website, I got the same txt today. When I downloaded the update 2 weeks back, it asked for my IMEI number. I thought this txt msg would only be sent to those whose IME's weren't already submitted, but having gotten the same text today has me thinking if I should re-download and install the update?
LOL I just got the text message too, as I was reading this thread
I'd downloaded the originial release, and then the re-release too, and had put in my IMEI each time. So, I believe these text messages are just going out to anybody who has an HD2 as the device attached to their number (you can verify which device is listed with your number by checking tmo's website).
Tonight I have tried calling my friend in the same room and whilst it rings on his end once the call is picked up I last around 4 seconds before I get disconnected, during this time I cannot hear anything that is said on the other end of the line.
My phone is an Omnia 7 on Orange UK, I was running the Chevron WP7 hacked update to get NoDo early but it may have updated to the newest legit firmware though (I'm not sure what the version number NoDo is) it currently reads as 7.0.7390.0
I have tried doing a restore on the phone but with no luck, I get the same error with a friends sim so I am assuming that it may be something to do with the firmware (although it has being fine for the past few weeks, it only started playing up yesterday)
Would it be worth reflashing the firmware with the original samsung one? And if so does anyone have instructions on the best way to go about doing this?
Any help is much appreciated since not having a phone is driving me mad!
Has anyone else had issues with sending/receiving MMS since the gingerbread update? I have been unable to send/receive for the past 2 days and the update is the only thing that i can think of that may be causing the issue.
Any help would be great!!!! THANKS!!!!
I can't receive

I'm Running stock with no root its working fine.
ive been having that issue with all gingerbread related ROMs that ive flashed and around 1 AM i start getting 1x instead of 3g and it makes messages forever to send and recieve
my mms take at least 30 minutes to send and 10 to receive
Not sure if this is an EVO issue, more so than a Sprint issue (On Sprint Android phones at least). I have had 2 different Android phones before the EVO which were stock, and have a daughter and wife that both have stock Android phones on Sprint. I have never seen proof that more than 1 in 4 of any MMS messages have ever been received successfully (to family members on Sprint). And I can't count the number of times someone has mentioned sending me a "picture" that I never received.
When I switched to the EVO (even before rooting and going to CM7 -- and even more so after) -- this trend did not change for the better. Sent 5 pictures yesterday to 3 family members (all on Sprint with stock Android phones), with not a one of them ever showing up on the other end.
I haven't been able to send or receive MMS since last week. I'm wondering if it has to do with the new radios because is started around the time that I upgraded them.
I've also noticed that my phone doesn't sync my inboxes through my HTC mail app anymore. It doesn't sync the Friends Stream widget, either. I have to do it manually.
Edit: I went back to Myn's 2.2 rom but left the newer radios on. I'm almost done downloading the lastest Synergy nightly and I'm going to try MMS with that rom and see if anything changes. I'll provide an update later. Although I will say my phone was acting up when this happened and I had to call Sprint because I lost all 3G connectivity. After 4 phones call to Sprint, one was able to get my 3G working again but my MMS or sync stopped working afterwards and I just haven't had time to call Sprint again.
Edit: Using a 2.3 based rom did not fix my MMS issues. I still can't send or receive them. I guess I'm going to have to get on the phone with Sprint again. Fantastic.
I am also having this problem since June 5. I updated me and the misses evo Saturday night and was getting text but my phone was getting low space notifications 5x on Sunday so I did a factory reset and now I cannot receive text messages. I can send them out but not receive. Called Sprint tech support on Monday was in the Sprint store on Tuesday from 10am to 2:30pm and no fix an e ticket was put in on Monday for me to have the phone replaced. The store didn't have any evo's in stock how crazy is that. Today is Friday and still no new phone. I called Tuesday afternoon to tell tech support what was going on spoke to 11 different people order was put in for a new phone.
Now today my phone is dropping calls after 5 mins of talking and a really bad echo can be heard. The misses phone is working perfectly no problems what so ever.
I send and recieve just fine, but it does take forever to go through, sometimes up to an hour. I am running stock IT'S 2.3.3, but it was that way under Froyo with the old PRL, too.

Ok, after going through a bunch of forums I got mine to work.
First thing I did was go into ROM Manager and fixed permissions then rebooted.
Try that, if that doesnt work then also try
Use root explorer, and make sure it is set to R/W mode (read/write). Navigate to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db and delete that file, then restart your phone. After the restart, you should be able to send and receive MMS messages.
I did both and now I can send and receive on my phone and my wifes phone.
She is running OMJ 2.3.3 and Im running MikRom 1.03.
With mine, I can't download while wifi is on. Might be a setting I'm not aware of, as I've never had this problem before. Searched and couldn't find anything.
I was havin the same problems called sprint and thier answer was wait till we send out a MR thats all they could say. I wiped everything and. Seems to work now but still some issues. Call sprint and let them know couse the rep did say they have to hear about from more than one person to start lookin at issue

About 30mins ago my gf tells me here phone is showing a new update icon, so she shows me and I see it, kinda strange since the AT&T version never gets an update. So it says we need to have a mobile connection to update, so I turn the wifi off and put the mobile connection on and tap the update. Nothing happens.
I than realize I need to plug the phone to my laptop and use the software, so I do that and now its saying I can only check for updates once every 24hrs. So I set the clock up a few days, some error message. I mess with time, same error message.
So looks like im waiting 24hrs, but did anybody get this update today too? My gf has the AT&T version of the Xperia x10, 2.1-update 1 base.
I guess u got the update for gingerbread.
