I hope been looking all over the internet and seriously have not found a single decent app like this...So, I hope there is and someone tells us where to get it

Just go here. Why download an app just to get news.....
I think the only difference is the countdown timer.

Nova Beta already has most of the Pixel Launcher features. Even clicking on the date and going straight to a calendar entry which I have found useful.
