Hi everyone, I've recently figured out how to get more of the "+" icons [You know, the ones in Manila/Sense in the Programs menu]. I am working on making a .CAB with the registry changes, however I just wanted to make sure my time is not wasted - I checked the forums decently, not extensively, so please could some of the veteran members please tell me if this has already been done and my workk would be useless.
I'll make a brief tutorial or How-To if this has not been discussed before, and what you need to get more "Favorite" tabs. [I'm at 60 from 30]
Just let me know! Thanks!
~~Bradley
Yes, one request is enough
Before I give you thee code, please note that if you don't wait foor my cab [assuming I have any clue what I'm doing] this will be time consuming. I'm working right now, so I can only give you brief hhow-to for now, but I will update it to a full version later.
Go into your favorite registry editor [I suggest PHM Reg Edit]
The registry file is
[HKLM = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]
HKLM ---> SOFTWARE ---> HTC ---> Manila ---> ---> Program Launcher
Or the direct place is just
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher
Once there, you should have keys number 0-29 [30 total]
Just make new keys [I suggest starting at 30 and working your way up] and once you make those, you need to copy/paste the string values
"DispName"
and the value
"Path"
You need to paste these into EVERY new key you make. Also, while you're editing this, go into the key value of ProgramLauncher and change the "totalItemCount" [Only Dword i nthe list, down at the bottom] to something higher than 30, whatever total number of icons you're going to make.
Once you have copy/pasted all of the appropriate values to your new keys, you must be advised that pressing the "+" button on your new icons will NOT work, you have to do them manually. This is where I suggest you download mymobiler [http://www.mymobiler.com/] it will make the addition of programs much faster.
Anyway, what you need to do is edit the paths to the programs you want using this code in the value box.
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\.lnk
Whatever program you want there [Say Pocket Uno] you just put between the last \ and .lnk. It will look like this
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Pocket Uno.lnk [You have to do the spaces - Exactly how it appears on your programs list]
Now, that will link it to your Pocket Uno Game, but it won't let you play it till you add a display name. I changed mine from Pocket Uno to just Uno for the heck of it. Anywho, it won't link it untill you have SOME display name.
I'm sorry I didn't explain it better, but I must be on my way for now, will do a full walkthrough later.
I would like to see this. thanks
There you go, I apologize for the lack of coherency.. Will proof what I've written and overall rewrite it later.. I'll answer any questions y'all may have. Just ask!
~~Bradley
this sounds just like my extended startmenu with 48 icons and 4 in a row (Touch X program tab 4 row 48 slots.cab)
for manila 2.1 with weather (sense 2.1) found in this thread
Please correct me if im wrong! and the + will work to add apps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4802028&postcount=2
Now, you correct me if I'm wrong!
Yours is an alternative to manila, with the exception of Touch X Restore Sense 1.0 manila cab, which I'm quite honestly not sure what it does.. at all, it just says you "can now customize the **** out of it!"
What my registry edits do is simply add to the number of favorites already there..
Now, you answer Because I have no idea what your item does!
smaberg is correct.
If you want to just add the programs with the + without having to deal with creating shortcuts, and doing all the registry stuff, just install the first cab (Extended Startmenu) from the link posted - it's great!
Edit: You can then also apply a reg fix for 64 icons as per the link below (sorry, not sure how to display the link in a shortened form)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534596&page=2
If thats true then, good work I just got my first winmo phone about 2 1/2 weeks ago! So good work, this can just serve for someone who wants to do it the old fashion way, I try to do reg edits instead of cabs when I can.. just for the heck of it
Thanks guys!

i have been looking through the forum, and have found ways to do it using the registry, but i want to put "New SMS" on the left. What is the program to run?
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "\ ???????? .exe
Thanks!
Or perhaps does anyone have the t-mobile "soft keys app" from their extended rom? this will allow me to use a GUI format instead. Thanks
Ben
Best that i know - (what i use) is wm5menu (free) - changes the menu for the left softkey. You can have just new sms or new appt. new word doc, new task etc. find attached.
thats great, works well once i worked out how to use it.
This changes the registry to
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "Windows\wm5NewMenu.exe"
Is there a way to make it not require two clicks? As Left Soft Key now loads WM5NewMenu, and then a pop up loads giving New SMS. I'm looking for instant new text!
Thanks
VJPhoneTools can do it, somehow. I forget how, but it's on the forum somewhere!
V
Lol vijay, you need a holiday!
Vijay: If you get the oppurtunity/remember how could you post the small line of code for the registry on here for me?
Thanks!

But I do need a holiday

YES! After 2 months of trying to make left softkey "New SMS" i have found the necessaries to do so:
Included is an app from the T-mobile UK rom in the windows folder that opens a new sms. put this into ur windows file, (does not matter which rom u are usingi dont think-i have tested on o2-uk and imate kjam roms), and make the following changes to ur registry:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "Windows\tnsms.exe"
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\(Default) = New SMS
reset and ur away!
I thought i should share because it has taken such a long time for me to do!
This file can be run from anywhere so if you want to make new sms from the today screen etc u can.
Ben
benjdc: did VJSMS "" not work? What system are you using?
V
im using WM5, but i wanted something with no strings-no command line and other apps included. this was what i was looking for in the end. thanks for ur help though!
Very nice
Thanks benjdc, very nice app: simple and so much more useful than the Calendar.
One minor thing though -- the file is named 'tnsms_108.exe', meaning the Open registry has to be renamed or (as I did) the file renamed to match your instructions.
Cheers!
I've been looking around, but did not find any fix for Re's launcher and slider. The original executable files we're using the system time (i.e. Greenwich meridean time) for the clock. So if your country is not located at 0.00 hours, the time will be all whacked out.
So I had to do it on my own! Here is the "fixed" executable files using Local time instead. I did not do any other modification. This is not my program and do not take credit for any of it, I just changed the time.
Get the complete files from here http://rychlicki.net/en/2007/04/01/174/
Then replace the executable files with mine. Hope you enjoy!
It works. I only have to do the WM2003 regfix and change most of the links
Can't find the options using PHM regeditor
Note : WM2003 manual workaround
2. Create string key "Current Operator Name" and provide your operator name
3. Create dword key "Signal Strength Raw" and give decimal value "100"
This will show the operator name you provided and signal strenght always 100%
This software is very old now. There are lots of other options currently available that provides a better "iPhone" look. Check these forums, they're two of the best:

Nope, both works for WM2003SE. I should know coz I got a Jam.
Grumps prog is self sustained. iTask needs additional progs like Mortscript and flash, but the transition animation are very impressive.
I'm also using Wisbar Advance Desktop now. Check my skin contribution here:

very good
thank you Re's launcher, its quite impressive work. i've installed the Fix version and i dont have to switch to the windows again to see what time is it now. by the way, i've customized the execution button, is it ok?
thank you, good work.
How to change the launcher to work for screen size 240x240
hi guys, I would like to use Re's launcher and slider on my Hw6510 but the screen size is 240x240. so you see the problem. is it possible to fix the launcher and slider so I can see everything on the screen? thank you.
Hi everybody,
at the end a contribute of mine... Hope you will find interesting.
I finally find out what is needed to change both the Title and the Icon in the main WM6 taskbar. You can see attached my mod with no text and Htc green arrow icon. I'm building up a guided procedue to act if I find you really interested and if moderator finds it legal . For the moment I can only suggest you that you have to modify shellres.192.dll in order to change the Icon (icon numbers 292/293) and shellres.dll.xxxx.mui in order to change the Start text (xxxx is localization code i.e. 0410 for Italy!).
Let me know what do you think about it and then I'll go on with the suggestions!
Cheers!
Guided Procedure:
---------------------------
What you need:
1 ROM Extractor for WM
2 Res Hacker
3 Siggner (attached)
4 Resco Explorer/Total Commander
5 You can change the Start Title editing the shellres.dll.xxxx.mui at the string table resource number 321
6 You can change the Icon editing the shellres.192.dll file at the Icon Resource number 292/293 (Icon must be 21x21)
First of all you have to extract those two files from \Windows folder of your device. Those file are blocked because ROM so you need the freeware ROMExtractor to copy them from \Windows to the internal storage folder. Then you can copy them on your PC hard-drive to manipulate. !!Keep them safe because they are your original ones!!
To edit them you absolutely need the freeware Res Hacker. Open the files with it and edit the resource as you want. Save. Normally ResHacker make an original copy of the file. If not, be sure to keep safe your originals!
When you save your changes, the dlls lose their integrity and you absolutelly must sign them again to let your device accepts as originals.
Use attached Mssigner to act like that.
If txt log says succeded (not the application, you have to check the txt file to verify if it's succeded!) now you are ready to copy those files back to yor \windows on the device. Use Resco Explorer o Total Commander to do that.
Overwrite when you're asked.
Soft Reset...
Is everything all right!!?
When you'll become confortable with the proc you will probably be able to edit a lot more of Windows resource and customize your system!
Let me know your tries, guys!
that is very nice. I haad never liked those letters, however i would like to keep the windows logo.
Nice! Because I use WkTASKchange, the application icons in the taskbar let me know what is running, but they also cover the focused application title. That looks bad. So, I'd like to remove the application title in the taskbar. Without changing the Start icon, if possible. Although it sure is nice to change that as well
how do i change the "start" text? where do i get images (ie ".ico") to replace the original windows icon( preferably a black logo of windows)?
Thanks.

Not connected to the post.. but do you use wktask successfully on your diamond ? I cannot manage to hide a task called demarrage... even with no process i have a process windows near to the start menu...
It can be cool to hide the start menu if it helps to put more things in the task bar
Ciao

Sorry for the off topic.. Yes, WkTASK Manager works fine. I've excluded manila.exe, repllog.exe and HTCActionScreen.exe, through the Preferences - Excluded tab, for instance. Not familiar with your demarrage process though..
Wonderful. Why don't you tell us exactly how to do it? Would really appreciate it.

Thats a nice idea
Or something like this:
What size does the icon need to have? and does it have to be a .ico or can it be any image?
I hope the most answers are on the first post!
Wait for your replies!
BRICKED!
Well, that didn't go too well!
The first attempt resulted in a bricked phone, I had to hard reset as it wouldn't boot. The second attempt I was a bit more careful but now all my icons appear messed up (in File Explorer folders and files are books and message icons, no start icon at all etc.).
I'm a bit confused by the instructions, firstly, in shellres.192.dll, if I export icon 292 with Res Hacker it is 41x36. If I have a look at Icon Group 4609 it is listed as a 41x41 icon. I know you mentioned it should be 21x21 but this doesn't seem right, I would have expected 32x32!
Anyway, I tried from scratch using a 21x21 icon and it still messes up all my icons. I think I will leave it for now until someone makes an App or Cab file.
I am using SwiftBL v7 ROM by the way
Mmm... Strange...
Since I found out the trick it's my 10/12nd attemp to change icons and texts and everytime it worked fine!!
Anyway, her you are some information (Look the attachment):
- I'm on official rom 1.93.408 ITA (the htc official latest one)
- after a lot of succesfully changes on my device I can absolutely say that icon must be 32x23 16M colors and the right icon is number 292.
I will take some time to understand what's the difference on your ROM...
Let's keep in touch...
isnt there an easy way to change them letters?
I noticed the same issue's as wired69 did.
But in your instructions you say that the icon size has to be 21x21 but later you post and i quote:
- after a lot of succesfully changes on my device I can absolutely say that icon must be 32x23 16M colors and the right icon is number 292.

If so could you please update your instructions.
Do you only have to change icon number 292 or both 292/293? That was a bit confusing to.
Hoping you will help.
P.S. Which certificate do you use for the signing part because the .mui signes just fine but the .dll does not.
You can read HERE how to change your icon.

Indeed my friend!
Bricked, but solved now !
Hello,
when I had two times bricked my diamond after signing and installing new mui file, I found, where the problem was.
I removed "Start" text from menu for better view of WkTask, then I signed file with mssigner. When I copied new mui to windows folder, my diamond became a brick :O The main problem was in missing SDKCert.cab. Because when you are signing with SDK certs edited mui, you have to install SDKCerts.
Now it looks for my needs, screenshot included.
Bye
Hi,
I realize that this question was asked a million times on the forum, but I've been looking for a solution since yesterday and just can't find it
Can anyone tell me how can I change the default touch input language (T9) on Windows Mobile 6.5? I'm using the Rhodium Manila with the new Keyboard and I have by default english language (I'd like to have polish).
I cannot change this in any way. I've tried to do it by registry in several keys, but it won't work.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Hey,
for me this worked:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3865875&postcount=362
else you can change HKLM\Software\HTC\ezsip\BioToShowMenu to 1 (in registry) and wait for few seconds.. (not more than 10sec) that "starts" the sip-menu, and you can click on your language
maybe it says [unknown] in the menu, then click there, that brings you to the language submenu
hope that helps you

Great! It helped, thanks a lot
Sorry for the double post, just wanted everyone to notice it
I've made a cab, which changes the registry value (thanks to tomoffel), so that you have easy access to the SIP Menu. I tried to do it as a reg file, but it would require some additional program to run it.
Just install it (don't mind if it shows 'The installation was unsuccesful') and voila
The cab is rather only for WM6.5, where the SIP menu is hidden.
great idea! Thank you!
just poping up the SIPmenu after "installation"?
btw. found the BioToShowMenu entry by playing around in the registry, don't know if this was known befor maybe that helps to fix the SIP menu in 6.5?
Yeah, exactly I thought that changing the reg value everytime I want to change the language or keyboard type is a but uncomfortable. It's a pity though that running reg files requires some additional software, because it would be faster.
That's some nice discovery of you with that reg value I'm not that so much in WM, but I hope this can help!
Ok, here's the other way. You have to install an app (FdcSoft Task Manager), it will associate reg files, so that after clicking one the reg value will be changed.
Here's the reg file content:
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\ezsip\]
"BioToShowMenu"=dword:00000001
The last line must be empty!
Credits for finding the reg key go to tomoffel
And here's the ready file in the attachment.
great and awesome! works like a charm

Good to know Here's another upgrade to access the menu faster - just do a shorcut and put it into start or assign a hardkey for it
I assigned the shortcut to GScrolls Launch function now wenn I tap back and center, the SIP-Menu comes up! Thank you again
now you/we/the uber pros just have to find a way how the "SIP-Button" shows that menu.. but it looks like nobody is interesstet :/
Offtopic:
can you add new words to the xt9 database? This never worked for me :/ neither after hardrest nor after installing another sip that uses the xt9 :/ (just ask because I see you use the same ROM )
That's a good idea with assigning the menu to GScroll, will try it myself
I noticed already yesterday that adding new words to t9 doesn't work It could be an issue with the rom we are using. Would be nice to have some feedback from anyone with a different rom...
yes.. pretty poor nobody on the ROM thread could give me an answer :/ I will play a little with the registry and file from ezSIP maybe I'll find another "solution"
Hi all,
I'm trying to make a cab which should hide tabs in Manila but for some reason
it doesn't want to hide the tabs.
Does someone know how to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance!
The following registry I've added in the cab, but after the cab is installed and I softreset the device the old registry is still there plus the tabs are still vissible.
This values I copied from device after manual hiding the tab first.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"Manila://footprints.page.hidden"=dword:00000002
"Manila://docexplorer.page.hidden"=dword:00000002
Hi,
Just look, may be you need to modifiy the key in:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Configuration\(n° of tab)\Enable=0
But I think the problem if you do like that tab number should be the original number, if you move the tabs cab will not work.
Hi Ct_moi,
Thanks for your answer but that key doesn't exist on my device.

Sorry my bad, after some more investigation, this hides the tabs.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"Manila://footprints.page.hidden"=dword:00000001
"Manila://docexplorer.page.hidden"=dword:00000001
Weird as I copied previous values from device.
Anyway it's solved.
Thanks again!
Interesiting,
I was trying something similar for my next release of my kitchen build. Like you I went into the registery and changed the dword to 2 and it made the particular tab hidden, when I tried it as part of a cooked rom it crashed sense.
From what I can tell dword:2 should enable the tab and dword:0 should hide them, but as I said when I tried it, sense just froze on startup.
I am also looking into being able to predefine the order of the tabs as well, so you can cook only the tabs you want and the order you want them. I'll let you know if I come up with anything!
Nono that's not what I did.
This is what I did to discover the registry values of hidden tabs.
First I made a registry dump with Dotfred´s Taskmanager on my device
Second I went into Manila settings/Personalise-Home screen tabs and untabbed the tabs I wanted to hide.
Third, after softreset I made another registry dump after the tabs were hidden
Fourth I compaired the two dumps (before and after) using ´Compair it´ and copied the changes
That´s how I found the values of ´2´
The value ´1´ to hide the tabs was just a wild ques and it worked.
