Anyone know how to get the failed delivery screen for sms/mms? I had an mms fail and it gave me a notification that I clicked on to give me a screen where all my failed messages were. To my surprise, there was more than 1. For the life of me I can't find the menu option to get back there! I'm using the stock HTC messaging app.
I just had one fail, it kept mine in the thread. Just have to scoll to it, long press and select retry. I guess in otherwords, I can't even find a log of them from the failed one.

(Help) Every time I open up the SMS app it sends a text message to my friend saying "
Ok, so basically several days ago I sent my friend one SMS saying "Hello". At the time it didn't send, because I was away from home and barely got 1x reception. Anyways, not every time I open the SMS application it sends (without telling me) an SMS to my friend saying "Hello". I've soft reset my phone and deleted the SMS conversation with my friend, but it's still sending. He has also rebooted his phone. Sometimes, I get a notification saying Nessage failed would you like to retry, and the message is that apparently failed is "hello".
If it's any help, I also uninstalled SMS-Chat recently.
edit: strangely enough, when I disable threaded messaging it resolves the problem. However, I would very much like to keep threaded messenging enabled. I wouldn't mind using another threaded app, but when I do, it's not integrated with the HTC home text message button.
Thank you - Dave
I have had my HTC Desire Z for a couple of weeks now and I am receiving the following message when typing a text message "The application Messages (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I have the standard ROM and have only done one OTA update and since then I think the problem has been happening. I did the update fairly soon after receiving the phone so I cannot be 100% certain this is the problem but I believe it could be
Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this and how I can fix the problem. I have imported my SMS messages from my old Nokia 5800 by bluetooth using the standard phone Setup wizard
When the message appears I get kicked out of the message I was typing and it is saved as a draft. The problem occurs if I use the on screen keypad or use the keyboard
The phone is not rooted or modified at all. I have a few applications I have downloaded but all of these came from the Market
Any help much appreciated
G2 user here and i have the same thing happening with one specific messaging thread. Every time the person would send me a text after the picture, i couldnt reply or view the messages until AFTER the message had scrolled past the top of my screen. If i scroll up to the picture, the messaging app crashes, so my only option is to delete the messaging thread (which i would rather not do).
It is probably a corrupt picture.
I am also open to suggestions on how to either delete that specific message without removing the entire thread.
i have had the same problem on my g2 after bit i discovered only happened to me consistently when i started writing an mms message (with photo) with keyboard closed and then opened the keyboard to type my text message once photo in message already - i get this crash when i send nearly everytime after the steps above (end up in draft without text i typed). not had this happen in ~1mo now as long as open keyboard first before starting the mms message. your mileage may vary !

This problem happens to my phone when typing and trying to send a standard SMS message. I have sent a MMS message but only one to get the settings and functionality enabled.
It is possible that I could have a corrupt picture message as I imported my messages from my old phone but didnt import any attachements or images so it could be the message is linked to a MMS picture which is no longer on my phone.
Is there either a way to disable all previous messages coming up when typing a new message or replying to a message or can I somehow get into the message database to remove corrupt messages
Hey all, today after using Yuki's 7720 ROM for over a month, I found that my phone no longer allows me to send a text message, like as soon as I press send, I still see the cursor blinking, but when I press the back button nothing happens, and the message is still showing & is not sent, i also can not press the send button again...
Another thing I found was with emails, I can receive the header & subject, but it no longer shows the first line of the email message... Also, even after I read it, it still shows as unread, and when I press and hold and select "mark as read" the phone just keeps telling me it's "marking as read" but never completes... I am unsure of what to do now
Anyone with any idea's?
Last thing I installed was Amazon Kindle, I uninstalled it, but still problem persists.

The problem appears to be with the actual message "screen" handler, when going to messages, at the top it says all messages, with the search icon, and below that is has the compose message button, but no messages actually display below there, it does nothing.
Clicking compose message takes you to the normal text screen and allows you to choose a contact to message, you can enter the text and it will send telling you "loading" and stops(hangs) there, the message does actually send.
The only workaround I've found for it is to go to contacts, select a person, and then hit the messages button...this will display the list of messages with that person but nothing else. Clicking the menu and hitting compose(or the "tap to reply") button get's you a prompt to select the program to handle it, messages or fb messenger, clicking messages gets more spinning of the "loading" prompt and the phone hangs at that point...I've searched this forum for about an hour now and have not seen this described.
.I'll be reading the guide for my model in hopes of a reply coming before the teenager with the axe..lol. Thanks for taking the time to read my post!

You can try clearing the data on messaging, but you will lose your messages. If there is a hangup (I know, I know) somewhere in the app it might fix it.
Otherwise, for phantom errors with no apparent fix, a factory reset will usually fix you up.
To clear data, go to Settings>Apps>Messages and click "Clear Data."
This is the first time I get this message where and oddly enough ALL messages are marked as sent. I tried deleting cache and data then rebooting and as soon as I tap the sms icon the "message not sent" appears on the status bar. I have checked my conversations and there isn't a single one stuck on sending. Any ideas?

Oh boy.. I have started getting this error SO MUCH, for the past few months. Earlier I thought this was my operator's issue but if other N4 users are also getting it then it may be some issue with the phone's software or something. Plus, no one else who uses the same network at my home or friends are getting this issue. :s
Basically during a covnersation, often people start textimg me "hey where did u go"... or "u there" etc.. And infact I actually am replying them but they are not getting my messages. So I restart my phone and there I see "Message not sent" error in notification and a lot of red triangular icons in inbox conversations.
What to do :s
SOLVED
Found the following solution that worked like a charm!
1. Install Handcent SMS from Android Marketplace
2. Launch Handcent SMS
3. Press Menu Button >> More + >> Undelivered messages
4. Here you can delete undelivered conversations and end your "messages not sent" woes!"

Click to collapse
It did not worked for me. Handcent was showing one undelivered message, but was unable to remove it. Maybe because both recipient and body was empty.
Very strange.
The solution was to:
1. install this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore
2. do a backup,
3. remove all messages from SMS app (you can do it in one shot from menu),
4. restore,
5. problem gone.
It's clearly an android bug.
