Hi,
I am using 20070511_LVSW_Trinity_WM6_v2.0.0.5 however , the quickgps isn't in there. Can anyone give me a link where I can download it or extract me that CAB file out of an EXT. ROM of the P3300 ?
Thanks for the help, I appreciate that.
Cheers
Micman
Any particular reason why you want it? It is designed for the P3300 ratehr than the P3600.
All our tests on 4WM seem to suggest it makes little or no difference at all to the TTFF times, and uses GPRS data in the process
again, placebo effect...
@NeilM
Well pretty easy, it takes about 5 minutes when I start TomTom to catch the satellites.
Unless you have another solution for me ?
Thanks
Micman
Yes you could put a GPS quickfix sticker on your P3600. Works just like those reception improvement / bad waves blocking stickers...

That is a little slow by current standards, but not bad. You do need to make sure you have a clear view of the sky when obtaining first fix. Subsequent fixes ought to be quicker.
As I said above, QuickGPS makes little difference, and is also designed for the P3300 which uses a SirfStar GPS chipset, rather than the P3600 which uses the Qualcomm chipset.
if you guys think that the quickfix programs has no effect on the A-GPS chip found on the trinity, then why do you think that HTC is going to include the same program on the upcoming HTC Kaiser which seems to use the same A-GPS chip ?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't A-GPS network dependant? What if mobile provider doesn't offer such services. Anyways, I find Tomtom takes a little long for TTF. I use GPSTest to acquire fix, then load up TomTom. Works for me, hopefully helps u.

HTC has improved time to first fix with WM6. Before I installed the official SEA WM6 ROM, it always took about 4 minutes, but now it's always under 2. I don't know what they did but there is obviously something (new radio?) that improves TFF.

While I believe the GPS chip of Kaiser is a Qualcomm, there's still a chance, and rumors btw, that it's actually a SiRF-III. I know it's weired - but no one is able to confirm anything on the Kaiser - even for those guys who already got one. The only thing for sure thus far is that existing SiRF-III utilities do NOT run on Kaiser - but still it can't proof that it's a Qualcomm or it's definitely not a SiRF.
BTW, mind you that the chip on the Kaiser is different from that on Trinity. So we don't have a conclusion here yet. And you know, HTC has the past history of disabling Trinity's GPS chip in its earliest roms releases - that's make speculations difficult.
Merely giving the program the same name of "quickgps" doesn't mean anything either. If it's a SiRF, then it's something natural; but if it's a Qualcomm, I bet they would still call it quickgps instead of something like "qualcomm quickgps" for sake of simplicity.
GPS of Kaiser is a GPSOne Qualcomm I've looked into Kaiser registry. That GPS is inside MSM7200 Chip of Kaiser.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\GPSOnePort]
"InterfaceType"="COMM"
"FriendlyName"="QualComm GpsOne Card, version 0.0"

I think there are some little chance to port QuickGPS application from kaiser to trinity

Hello,
Look at this documentation of the chipset qualcomm 6275 on p3600 :

gpsOne® position-location assisted-GPS (A-GPS) solution
So may be HTC have not delivered the driver for Gps One !!!
The question of "the p3600 have à Gps-one capability"
The Answer is YES !!!

@++++
I know... theorically should be the same... but it's not sure that GPS Driver of Kaiser seem different from the one inside p3600... but I think there some little chances to make quick gps working also in p3600. I tried to port Quick GPS application, drivers, registry settings from Kaiser ROM but when I launch Quick GPS Application, it gaves me an error like "Cannot create empty document" and I haven't understand the cause but maybe i missed something and someone more expert than me can have a better luck doing it
So after all we might have a chance to import QuickGPS from the Kaiser to the Trinity effectively....
Let's work hard guys

This thread might help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324222
This works in my trinity with Italian udk 4.0 ROM.
It Wants HTC Homeplug and a little traslation.
Guybrush can do you do?
It's like the cab i did, just I missed one file, now I'll try
I remember thaht in my original ROM this cab doesn't work. It gives the same error that have you.
Now with this rom works.
I don't understund what's the problem.
I Haven't tried with your ROM.

Hey guys,
first post on this, what seems to be a great forum.
I recently bought the Jade and overall i'm very pleased with it.
Today I had some time to install gps software. I picked TomTom 7.450 because i like it more than Igo. The program itself is installed well but i just can't get the receiver activated.
I allready used several settings (disabled agps, 'built-in gps' or 'other nmea receiver' in tomtom, also with different baud rates) but it keeps saying i have a bad reception, it's waiting for a useable signal and it doesn't find any satellites.
I already installe the cab file i found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3031549&postcount=5 but that also doesn't seem to help anything.
Would someone be willing to give a step by step guide in how to get this thing fixed?
Secondly, can someone tell me what setting I should use in orde to still see the 'start button' when i'm using TomTom. With my last pda it remained there when TomTom was activated, so I could also use other programs but with the Jade i can't seem to find how to do this.
Sorry if there are some grammatical errors in this post, I'm from Belgium . Thanks in advance!
update:
i managed to get some signal and got a fix, but after about a minute it was lost again and it won't find it again.
Also I installed IgO8 but it won't start on my jade so I guess I'll have to do it with TomTom...
OK, let's try to find where is the problem .
First chceck your registry. Find out what is your settings in this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/SUPL AGPS
Set GPSMode to 1
Set EnableAGPS to 0
If you already installed that CAB, it should be like this. This is going to make your GPS fix slower but more accurate and reliable (or it seems to do that ).
Second, download and install GPS Tuner from http://www.gpstuner.com/ . This is a great GPS software for offroad navigation which I use when testing GPS recievers.
Do not allow it to set your GPS receiver automatically. Set your GPS in GPS Tuner to COM 4, baud rate 4800 and Type 1. Go to "GPS Panel" and click green button "Start GPS". Do not leave this tab, because you can see how your receiver is getting fix. Be patient, especially if you do not have a good view of sky. The reason why I use this to test GPS is that you can see satelite signal even if you do not have a fix. Not all GPS applications do that.
If GPS Tuner is able to get fix in some time, there is something wrong with your TT settings. If it is not, there is something wrong with your GPS receiver or registry settings.
In the gps panel tab, the following results were given after pressing start gps (after about 2-3mins):
Lateral and longitudinal positions, altitude were correct
PDOP: 3,7 (good)
Fix: 3d fix
Furthermore it found 16 sats from which 7 were active.
So i presume it's not the gps unit itself but the TT settings? Registry settings are ok i think.
Many thanks allready!
Use latest version of TT
Try to install the latest version (v7.9) of TomTom. This one works ok on the Jade and you can also use the latest maps.

Yes, but version 7.9 gives correct status for the sattelite reception and it also supports the latest v8.15 (and higher) maps. Version 7.450 does not support the v8 maps.
To be very honest. The file you linked me to (http://www.4shared.com/account/dir/8910078/74070269/sharing.html) gives me an ttsystem file after unpacking without an extension (no .cab, no .exe) and i actually don't have a clue how to use it

I also have TTN_7.910 9185 QVGA Black.cab and when i trie to install it on my HTC Touch 3G NL i'am getting a errormessage: Installation of TTN_7.910 9185 QVGA Black.cab failed.
This file is okay, i had it installed on my HP iPaq hx2110 with WM5.
Anyone any idea?
TTN7.910 works now, read below how i managed it:
It allready had TTN_7.450.9028 VGA.cab installed on my HTC Touch 3G NL, although the Touch 3G is a QVGA device it worked (some textlines are to big for the screen).
On this thread i found following link: (http://www.4shared.com/account/dir/8...9/sharing.html).
There you can find: TT7_v7.910.9185_vga_via_update_van_7450.9028.rar in the tomtom pda folder.
In this download you wil find TomTom_7.450.9028.cab and 2 versions of TT7_v7.910.9185, black and blue incl. data.chk
After installing TomTom_7.450.9028.cab (or in my case TTN_7.450.9028 VGA.cab) all you have to do is copy the preffered version, black or blue of TomTom Navigator.exe and Data.chk to your device: in the folder (phone or storage memory)\Programmabestanden\Navigator.
Since i have a Dutch device the folder is called Programmabestanden, i don't know how it's called in English.
On my device there is also a folder Program Files, where in my case TT is not installed.
But i think most of you can figure it out yourselfs by know how it works, otherwise your not worthy a PDA.
With TTN 7.450 my HTC could find satellites but it was unable to show me how many it found. GPS receiption was good although. With A-GPS turned OFF.
With TTN 7.910 the problem above is solved, my HTC stil finds satellites and now i can see how many of them there are out there in the sky.
Another nice thing is that now although i installed VGA TT7.450 and replaced it with VGA TT7.910 i can read all text on the screen.
The text is smaller so it fits the screen but still very good readable.
Sincelry,
a big fan of TomTom.
Final solution to this problem !
Disabling AGPS is the cause of the issue we have here.
I've done some testing with AGPS enabled and GPSMode set to 1 and the results are good (quick fix and almost no lag).
Please read my reply on another topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3143383&postcount=17
A cab is attached to it to make the registry changes.
Kind regards.

Despite experiencing many tweaks, it still lags too much..
Any suggestion from the guys are happy w/ it..??

Wrong, 7.450 does support v8.15 maps, but only with keygen v7. don't ask me why, the answer is: because!
7.910 needs keygen v8 for v8.15 maps.
I have a question to all HD2 TMOUS owners. Does this device have digital compass? Does it work properly with the Google Maps application?
The reason why I am asking is because it wasn't mentioned in the specs of this phone on the official HTC website. However it was mentioned in the specs of the Europe version of this device.

I thinking (hoping) that what it does is provide accurate orientation information when there's little or no movement for gmaps to interpolate heading.

I have purchased the htc hd2 tmobile us in april. I have tried to run the digital compass but I have never had a success in using the app. I always get stock at the magnetic interference screen. I've tried every figure eight style you can imagine but it never works.
I recently noticed that is a big problem for me because I'm starting to use the gps feature on the phone.
Could someone help me on how to fix it ?
Thanks in advanced.
(i've already searched google and tried figure 8 vertically and it still doesn't work)
sigh
I've read that some people have removed CoPilot and Navipanel from their custom Roms. Thing is I've flashed to 2.10 and 2.11 STOCK Roms and never saw that NaviPanel and Copilot were working together. I saw Navitel working with NaviPanel even after installing CoPilot and the Copilot update for HD2. So why can't it work? What Roms were you guys using that did work with NaviPanel and Copilot?
Also, to anyone making custom roms, PLEASE don't remove NaviPanel. No one has been able to restore it through cab files and the ROM is usually the culprit that can't get it restored. Just asking because a lot of custom Rom creators are taking away or putting in programs that require updates or you'll require to install and you can't do it. So please don't do that anymore
Bump, come on somebody. Why are all the custom rom's NaviPanel not working?
By not working I mean all the buttons except PHONE are grayed out.
I think I've figured out some things here. The ORIGINAL HD2 NOT THE TMOBILE VERSION came with CoPilot being run by default on NaviPanel. TeleNav was the one that NaviPanel runs by default on Tmobile version of HD2. I just wonder what differences could be made to enable NaviPanel. Some have posted some success with some minor registry tweaks to just OPEN their GPS program of choice, but not the actual ACTION which the button is suppose to do (Like Navigation, Home, etc.)
Navipanel and Copilot
I also have been having quite a bit a problems with this.
After a number of rom flashes, I now have some basic functionnality.
For the record, I have a telstra hd2 with Miri rom (with the 576 mb of ram). I got the full version with sense. This is available at htcpedia.com.
First thing, you need to download the Laurentius27 GPS copilot 1.0.0.457 cab.
Here is the link:
http://www.4shared.com/file/192636567/3129888e/Laurentius26_GPS_Copilot_1_0_0.html
The 659 version (see the 2577 file) provided by Copilot will not work with Navipanel. Also, the April 6 copilot hd2 us update also does not work with navipanel.
Also, I found that I needed to install an icon and a .lnk file in the registry (I modified the cab of Laurentius) so as to do this. This enabled all the buttons whereas before I only could use the phone button.
All the buttons work. I can access my phone and favorites as well as footprints photos etc.
The problem is that none of the info is transferred to copilot. So clicking on the home button will only open copilot. Same for the recent etc.
I am looking to see if there is some intermediary file that may be missing to enable communication between copilot and sense. This should be some type of database or xml file. I am guessing that this file was present in the early european rom but not in the later asian and tmobile ones. All the cooks migrated to the newer roms and the file was left behind.
So, to install and have copilot working with navipanel on HD2.
1. Uninstall copilot but not the maps on your storage card.
2. Install in memory (not storage) the Laurentius gps cab above.
3. Install in memory (not storage) the icons using the attached cab navipanel cab file.
Thanks for your reply. Still before you replied I went ahead and tried the Dutty's Rom at HTCPedia. They had a CoPilot cab that did the same thing you explained. Problem now is, it doesn't do the exact ACTION that it's supposed to do (like you stated). So now I'm looking for that solution. Any chance you know how to fix that?

Truth is I think even the American HD2s had NaviPanel written to CoPilot. Tmobile never had it so no use looking there. The Asian ones I can't say I know anything about. At one point there HAS to be a stock rom that had copilot working with navipanel. It just confuses me that this is one of those things that NO ONE tried to fix/perfect in any of their own roms.
Copilot - Navipanel lack of interaction

Interesting. I tried Dutty's copilot cab with Miri's rom and it did not work!
Guess the problems might even be more rom specific then I thought.
Did that cab install a navipanel icon for you and if so where?
What is the version of the copilot that it installed?
BTW for your info, the European rom is the one that had navipanel (rom 1.43 and 1.48). The reason I suspect this is the htc hd2 user manual details how to use navipanel. I suspect the missing links are buried in the 1.43 and 1.48 rom which were the initial roms with the t8585. Now cooks are on 2.1. so it will be a challenge to find a cook to return to an old rom to find missing links to then integrate the missing links in the new roms.
BTW here is the link to the latest English Uk rom v1.48 (from htcpedia)
http://htcpedia.com/official_wm_updated_rom_htc_hd_leo_english_europe_version/soft/htc-leo-rom.html
I may try to flash a stock 1.43 or 1.48 to see if it works and if so I will install a kitchen to try and extract this.
Thanks

Well, I'm not sure what version it is. I think it's a older version, because when installing the newer "HD2" version the UI changes a little. Duttys apps tend to be very specific to his roms. I know only because I've tried his other apps like the eReader, Documents tab, etc and they never function on other roms as well as on his. I can't say I've seen any Tmobile roms that had the CoPilot app in it. Even the stock roms here have the TeleNav on it routed to NaviPanel by default. NaviPanel never really had an icon for me. I just did the /Windows NaviPanel thing to open the NaviPanel program. I'm currently just waiting to get my carkit to use it correctly. I dunno, I contacted Dutty and it seems he doesn't have a solution for routing the correct action to it either. So we'll have to see what happens.

Thanks

Just remember though the Dutty CoPilot install didn't get me anywhere different than where you are. The only thing it did was ungray the buttons and every button except FootPrint and Phone launch CoPilot. It seemed to have installed the version of CoPilot that just came with the original HD2 (im guessing so because Dutty owns a normal HD2 not Tmobile branded). Of course I think that when he extracted it not ALL of the registry or xml or database was extracted with it. By the way I'm using the latest version of Duttys rom. The one with the 2.11 OEM driver build from tmobile.
Navipanel icon
If you want, try the navipanel cab I posted. It should give you an icon (credit for the icon goes to Laurentius),
All this does is copy a navipanel png to the windows directory and registers a link for that icon.
Let me know if it works.
I will try stock rom 1.48 shortly Too curious.

the 1.48 is a european rom right? I'm in US so I don't think itd work with me.
I just thought i'd suggest you use iGo8. Im using it with my us htc hd2, in california, works perfect no data usage needed and was free =]]
Whats good about copilot and navipanel???
Navipanel and 1.48 rom
Just downloaded and flashed 1.48 uk rom.
Navipanel works fine but the links only open copilot. Address, recent etc. do not work. Maybe at a later date.
Going back to a more recent ROM
I looked into the user guide for the uk versions. Here is the link:
http://member.america.htc.com/download/web_materials/Manual/HTC_HD2/091229_HD2_HTC_WWE_UM.pdf
It does not mention any special link with address, recent etc. So I guess that may be why it is not working. Maybe in the future
I am looking into getting a copilot sdk and maybe there is something to do with this but then I also need to modify the navipanel dll and exe! More learning ...
Also, the only mention of copilot was to save the footprint pictures in the my document\my poi folder on device and folder and these would be accessible to copilot photonav but did not have any success there as well.
I am looking at copilot as this is I find it cool that it integrates with navipanel and the pinch to zoom is nice. Although I must say that their maps are outdated. At present, if I believe their maps, I would be underwater I posted an update request as their ask we do so will need to look into if this is actually followed up.
Google maps is still the most acurate but now I have a limited data plan and want to be able to use the maps features when roaming or in Europe.

Well it's not that we can't get CoPilot to work. Any GPS program works on the HD2 as far as I've read (some with some tweaks). We are just trying to find a way to run it from NaviPanel. Navipanel is something that activates whenever you plug it into your carkit for the HD2. Nothing is so "great" about it, but it's a feature that we want to activate and use. And as I've said before no one that has built any custom rom has been able to correctly apply NaviPanel with any GPS program to date.

Sigh, I guess it's just a feature that never existed then. I can't find much proof that it ever did unless it was a HTC HD2 unbranded. Thanks anyways tho man.

After digging around I think I found some information, but nothing amazing unfortunately.
According to HTC HD2 users, while it was normal for NaviPanel to be hard coded to CoPilot the beginning version (the one built into the rom) didn't do anything but just OPEN the program itself. That's right, basically we are where they were in the beginning.
BUT
After CoPilot came out with the "HD2" update it fixed 2 things. The Home button would open up the menu for you to click your home location and be routed there. Also, the Footprint button would open up CoPilot to again route to where that footprint was taken. Those 2 things were the ONLY improvements on that "HD2" update. Now, yeah it's not an amazing update, still I want to have those features. So currently I'm just looking to see if anyone can provide the original files that were linking CoPilot and NaviPanel. SOMETHING in those will provide the solution to this.
Navipanel copilot integration update
Hi,
I have been exchanging emails with copilot support for navipanel integration. They were very helpful and prompt.
I am happy to post that they have got the integration fully working!
They sent me an upgraded licence key that enables full navipanel and copilot interaction.
Home now opens up copilot and takes me home within copilot.
Recent opens up copilot and gives me my recent locations.
Adresses now opens up adresses in copilot
Footprint also works, I can now get to the Statue of Liberty! Paris is a bit tougher however From Canada at least. You can now take geotagged pictures in footprints and route to them using navipanel and copilot!
If you have copilot, contact support to get the upgrade code (it is free)!.
You need to contact support at:
CoPilot Technical Support
http://support.alk.com
Navipanel is a cool feature to have, make sure your custom rom supports however or see my previous post!
Yep, that really did it. I was just talking to ALK when you sent me that PM lol. Turns out the upgrade key somehow manages to enable those functions for NaviPanel. Please somehow make this a sticky. At one point people WILL come in asking for a NaviPanel/CoPilot fix.
