how to upgrade to haykuro's SPL - myTouch 3G, Magic General

was wondering if there is a certain method because the last time i tried to change my SPL, the phone was bricked...
i just dled the .zip, opened in recovery and updated.
i just want to be 100% sure now.

Yeah me too. I want to update my SPL, but very hesitant and know very little.
I'm confused in regards with perfected spl's, eng spl's, and ship spl's, and all that jazz.
I need to update my SPL because the roms I want to flash are limited because of my "outdated" SPL.
My spec's:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAPP30000)
CPLD-10
RAdio-2.22.19.261

I desperately want to update my SPL to the latest one but very afraid of bricking my phone.
I've been googling everything about SPL's and so far still stuck with a fear of bricking. I NEED GUIDANCE, please HELP.

Newbie SPL Questions.

I'm new to putting custom firmware on the android platform, and I've been looking around, but haven't really found anything that answers a few questions I have about the SPL
What are the advantages of flashing a new SPL?
Does it fix problems with the ROM, or increase functionality/usability?
I have an HTC Magic from Canada on Rogers:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0010 (SAPP50000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
I have loaded on Amon_RA's 1.6.2H Donut Rom, and his Recovery RAv1.2.1H.
Thanks,
Dave
No advantage to changing the SPL.
It is the "software program loader", as long as it does that and allows you to flash "alternate" ROMs you are in business.
It is also one of the things that messing with, and breaking, can brick your phone. Only worth doing if you have a "perfect" SPL which will not allow anything other than official carrier updates.

Is HBOOT 1.33.0007 a perfect SPL

I bricked my phone and had a replacement sent
BRICKED PHONE:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAPP30000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
REPLACEMENT PHONE:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0007 (SAPP30000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
From what I can gather the replacement phone doesn't have a perfect SPL, so does that mean I don't need to use a Goldcard, or that the process will be much easier? Thanks guys, I don't mean to ask noob questions, but I don't want to brick this phone the second time around. You would figure I'd learn my lesson and stop trying to mess with it
To my limited knowledge, this is a perfect spl and to this day i have read of only one person being able to root it, the spl is fairly new so it would take some time to root it anywayz, to get more information u should spen time in the development forum, thats where i read a post of some1 rooting this spl, all other have failed.......

Well since you already got the correct radio, just go and flash the danger spl (1.33.2005). you can find it in my sig. (a.k.a Haykuro's SPL) With the danger spl you can flash any ROM made for the MT3G/G1.

(FLASH)what to do now?

hello
can somebody say what first to do?
is this a non or perfect spl
can i flash to a recovery image?
or what are the stpes to do?
making a gold card?
this are my settings
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.006 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.261
thanks
jeff
perfect spl
I don't know much about that SPL as I use 32A phones, but you can most likely flash a recovery image.
learn to do the rest yourself. You've obviously done no research. Spoonfeeding you will result in more questions that are answered everywhere.

What Is CPLD? How to change it to another one?

Today I found that my Magics CPLD value is 10 (CPLD-10), and I can not flash other versions of Sense UI with 6.35.*.* of radio. Does anyone know how to change the value from 10 to 12.
My HTC Magic details:
Sapphire PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.76.2007 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-6.35.16.19
FIRMWARE-1.5
Get you self custom recovery using the radio-switcher-tool in my signature. (If you not already have it!). Just push "flash new" when using the tool.
Then flash this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778083
It's a modified stock 2.1 with sense.
You cannot change the CPLD.
In others words, you are attacking the wrong problem!
CPLD-10 is the MyTouch 3G / Magic 32B. Flashing the new radio and SPL will most likely brick your phone.
CPLD is sort of a hardware ID, you can't change it.

Well i just used the info he provided...
Keinengel, are you 100% sure about your facts?
If so, how come arxlex has different fastboot info?
Pretty sure
From what I've gathered on this forum, CPLD-10 is 32B, CPLD-12 is 32A and CPLD-13 is MyTouch 1.2/Fender. The only other time I saw CPLD-10 and PVT-32A on the same screen was when someone ran a 32A RUU on a 32B with a goldcard in it.
mumilover,
Thanks, but I already have a recovery 1.6.2. And I already maked flash device RCMagic ROM, but after flashing the firmware does not want work sensor, all sensor area decreased by 1/3 of screen.
See screenshots
Have you ever used a goldcard before?
Maybe thats why everything is not working correct.
Using what Keinengel sayed, you might have wrong spl/radio combo which again is effecting your system...
If you have used goldcard before, then maybe you should revert back to 32B combo.
Using spl 1.33.2005 and 2.22 radio. Then flashing 32B rom like the CM 6.
