Manila Facebook contacts bug

I have few contacts with link to their facebook accounts (with photos, birthdays synced etc.). It works normal. But it fails if someone closed their facebook account, or banned from facebook for some reason etc.
- If you go to updates & events tab (in the all contacts), manila crashes.
- If you update anything with facebook, manila crashes.
(Every second crash requires soft reset.)
I dont know if it mentioned before. If so, sorry. I am using Dutty's WM 6.5 R10, but I think its manila related. Someone should fix it.

Please dont be rude. .You said you had this in one rom, so you should really keep it in the thread related to that rom. That's the basic ettiquette of this forum..
as to "someone should fix this" what exactly do you expect?
you're using a not even beta piece of software that's been leaked from a device that hasn't even been announced never mind have support for, that you didnt pay for!
try this..
delete facebook*.vol in and try again

This issue is cause when having a lot of friends on facebook.
I had the same problem in dutty's rom, but on Leo's rom, I did not have this problem!

its not in one rom. and its not causing by too many friends, it have to just end link between contact and facebook account when user does not exist. deleting .vol is a workaround, i know about this. but its still an annoying bug. (i had it leo's rom also)

Tried unticking the troublesome contact when you go to select which contacts to sync?

This has nothing to do with rom development

It can fix the problem. BUT if you have hundrets of contacts, then you have to know which one is troublesome. And you must check one by one, since you dont know which is.

Facebook Photo Sync not working

Hi,
I am having problem with the syncing of my contacts photos on Facebook in Manilla.
I have just installed Dutty's Leo R5 WWE Rom and I don't think this worked in the R4 either. The matching contacts come up when first logged into facebook, and the pictures appear alongisde the names when you match the contacts up, but my phone does not update its photos. They all seem to have the standard grey head and a small facebook icon in the bottom right.
If I remember correctly, it used to ask whether you want to update photos and birthdays, but it doesn't even give you the option now. Is there a solution, maybe something in the registry which can swicth this sync feature on.
The manila version is 2.5.19192828.0

I haven't tried R5 yet (most likely tonight) but the facebook contacts on R4 work flawlessly for me. Everytime I update this it also changes the images it they have done so on facebook.
Have you tried removing the link or association which each contact and then linking them again to see if that works?

I have tried removing the link and readding but it doesn't work...

facebook does not update photo for myself

Sorry if this question was asked before, I did try using search but nothing came up.
Anywayz, I have my facebook account linked to my HD2. Everytime when i update fb information, all my friends photos are updated except for myself. Which means my photo is still the default htc one. Anyone help on how to change my own photo is greatly appreciated.

Are you looking at a contact you have named as yourself or the contact card ME that appears at the top of all people?
If you are looking at ME. Open the contact and click on the photo in the top right. You will see a list of options that tells Manila where to get the picture from.

Does this work on all contacts, or just the ME one as I am having issues with some of my contacts getting any photo from facebook, let alone changing to the latest?

Yes it does!

In that case.... I have a problem.... repeated tapping of the contact image on any other person (well tried 5 so far, some with images some with none) and nadda

Mine does not update photo's or status' unless I click Update manually, even though it's set to auto update every two hours, I think the FB app is crap TBH

Facebook contact as display pictures ??

I finally got some of my friends phone contact to sync with facebook. I can see a little small picture of them in contact, but I don't seem to get the picture to display when I make a phone call. Am I missing something or can you make their facebook picture as dialing display picture by clicking on something ?

Mine does it, I log into facebook through my contacts and it puts all my facebook contact friends pic as the contact pic in my phone.
1) Hit people tab
2) all people
3) 3rd icon should be facebook (updates and events)
4) know tap on Me/ My Updates

It should do that automatically. Have you tried with more than one person? I'm having a similar problem, but only with one contact. Works fine for the most part.
When you go to edit contact info, press their picture in the top right and you should have the option to set as facebook picture.

maybe its a manila 2.5 issue. I will try the same thing with a 2.1 manila rom and see if it will sync properly with the display picture when dialing.

Mine is also doing the same thing. It displays the picture under favorite people and in the contact list, but when making or receiving a call it does not display the picture. Im running ark666's rom

I have the same problem with Leo rom running sense 2.5/maxmanilla

I thought I was doing something wrong. I am running art666 Rhodium AF as well.

it works fine for me, but i have a problem, that whenever a contact changes his picture the picture isn't changed on my phone....i can't find anything to update the pictures.....i tried also to remove the pic and then to add the facebook link again, but i always get the old picture...
i forgot to write that i use the original HTC WM6.5 rom

for the most part the pairing to facebook pics work fine for me, however i've found that some of my facebook friends aren't available when i search for them to link to their contact info. there are about 30 friends on my facebook that for some reason aren't available to link. i'm using the tilt 2, stock ROM. any ideas?

I found out that the dialer instead of using the picture from facebook, it uses the picture that is on the winmo default contacts...
Does anyone knows a fix to display only the facebook picture instead the one that's on the winmo contacts??

well i had this trouble but i updated my rom and backed-up my contact using pimpackup. it backups the contact and sets the current (facebook) picture as outlook picture. then you reinstall the backup file which will delele all your pim and install your contact with their default pictures as outlook thus end any dialer problems you're having. you should call and see their the picture you had

Hmm, I always use PIMBackup to backup and restore the contacts, and always have the default pictures from the outlook. But what I want is that facebook pictures become the default ones...

It is built in to HTC sense. If you go to all people and then slide over to updates and events then log into your FB account

it is built into the TP2, if you are using the touch flo ui. Slide over to the people tab and select all people and then slide over to udates and events and log in

You could try this, remember to read the whole thing first

I don't have an issue with the pictures, but stuff like birth dates. For some reason, when I sync contacts with FB, I get their birthdates and with a FB logo next to it. All well and good, except the birthdates won't pop up on my calendar, making it practically useless.
Now, if I type in their birth date manually it automatically updates the calendar.
Anyone know how to fix this?

HTC HD2 Facebook integration

Just 2 questions
1. Is there a way of sync-ing your phone contacts with facebooks so it uses the contacts face book picture etc, i can do this individualy but is there a way of doing it in one big go.
2. Can you sync your facebook calander to the HTC HD2 calander?

1. Login your facebook account in Setting/Data services. It will sync your contact with facebook avatar and birthday but the names in your contact book must be the same with your facebook friend names, if not, u have to sync one by one
2. I dont think we can

Anybody know of a better facebook app out there for the HD2?? Lets face it, the one that comes out of the box is about as much use as tits on a fish.......

Does the integration remain after a new ROM flash? If the names have been changed etc the first time, should do I guess?

the integration info is saved in the 'notes' field of your contact. once you sync back AND associate your phone with fb they will all re sync.

The one reason syncing with fb is good: profile pictures. Most of my friends dont like me to sit there, and take a picture of them when they give me their number, so this helps.

This works for most of my contacts, but I had to do a hard reset ant almost 1/4 didn't have nothing in Notes field - so didn't associate automatically. Is there any way to make a "full resync" or something similar so I don't have to manually associate those contacts next time?
P.S. something more simple than manually adding a Note

Does anyone have problem with this facebook sync. Everytime I try to sync, my HD2 gets verry laggy until it don't respond, and I have to pull my battery. This happens when i manually select update now, or if my phone is set to automaticaly update. Its really annoying

I have done hard reset a bunch of times. HTC customer support told me to install the latest ROM, and then do a hard reset. I tryed it, but with no luck. Everything else, works like a charm. I do use ROM from HTC 1.66.409.1 (76641) NOR. Maybe I should look into some custom ROM's? Any tips for a good rom? I have been searching the forum and there is so many to choose from. Can I use anyone? Or should it be one for Norway?

Do u have HSPL on your phone? If yes, try to install a couple of cook roms. Remember to do a task 29 before flashing any rom. If u have no idea about what HSPL or Taks29 is, please do take a look in the HD2 Rom development, read threads about them, and there's also a thread for noob flashing guide. It takes time but worth it.
I can suggest u a couple of cook roms I've used but it's better that u should look into the Rom threads to see which one suit ur needs, every rom is really good and fast, stable more than stock rom. I can recommend some such as CleanEX, Energy or Touch-X

i tried it on my HD2, it does work but it does take a long time to sync and transfer facebook details to your contacts (well maybe for me coz i linked like 100+ contacts)
but one thing good about this is that it edited the birthday field on my contacts on my device, and now can be used by manilaBirthday
also, if contact doesnt exist on your device, u can add friends from FB to ur contact list

question... if i login to the sense facebook without enabling it to download automatically every 2 hours, would facebook in sense still try to update by itself?
the reason here is i logged in to facebook in sense but did not enable automatic downloading yet surprisingly my phone started to access my internet. others experience the same?

does any1 know how to get the facebook sync back in action after turning it off. I disabled it temporarily, but I lost all the synced data as a result. After reactivating it, it no longer syncs (although for some reason it seems to acknowledge that the contacts have a facebook profile linked to them, but it is unable to download photos, updates etc)
Is there anyway to do it aside from a hard reset? Something I'd rather avoid

No one has come across "snaptu"? Go to http://m.snaptu.com . there you download a app for your hd2, there is unsigned and verisigned which i dont understand the significance of it. But i lliked it. It is a JAVA app so you need to run JBlend and then snaptu app. i can do everything as on a computer except CHAT. Do you know anything better? please tell me. especially one that you can chat with.
