Activate Hidden Photo Modes - HD2 General

hi all in the registry can some one list all the "P?" files for me, i.e.
p1
p2
p3 = panoramic
p4
p5
p6 = Burst mode (i think)**
p7 =
p8 = Sports mode (i think)**
p9 = Video Share
p10 = GPS Photo
what are the rest?
please confirm ** ones

P7=Picture theme
If you go to HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P7 and change Enable dword from 0 to 1, you will get an extra icon on Camera capture Mode named "Picture Theme". If you select it you get this error message "Unable to switch to Picture Theme Capture mode. Unable to load the default template."
In my opinion, if some HD device has this mode enabled and working, would probably be just a matter of copying the files to the correct folder.

P8=Sports
Use the above method to enable this mode. you get an extra "speedy guy" icon on the "Capture Mode" menu.
You can actually use this mode but can't take any pictures. You can choose capture speed - slow, moderate, fast - and how many snapshots you want - 3,5,7,10 - but the camera doesn't really take more than one at a time. there is no option to change resolution.

P6=Burst.
Similar to sports but is supposed to take 30 shots in a row (shows a 1/30 on the lower right side of the photo frame). You get this message if you try to take a pic: "Unable to capture photo. File access was denied."

1=Photo (default)
2=Video (default)
3=Panorama (default)
4=MMS Video (default, can't seem to disable it on my phone. ok, found how now)
5=Contacts Picture (default)
6=Burst (not working)
7=Picture Theme (not working)
8=Sports Mode (not working)
9=Video Share
10=GPS Photo

Bump up this topic!
We need a way to take continuous shots.
Anyone found a way to make burst mode or sports mode to work on our HD2?
They were able to make this work by setting enable=1 in registry for older HTC phones. Why not HD2?

No news on this one?

Anything new on this? I just made a post thinking this was suppose to work and it obviously doesn't look like it does. So why is the option there?

still nothing?

did anyone find out if they can get this working

What I've done is to load Leon ROM and all these modes are working, so there is no a hardware problem
I copied the registry HTC\Camera and the templates directory, but after reloading the rom I need (Beast 5), I'm not able to fix it.
I did recorded the new registry, used the leo camera 6_26_20121425.cab and the same results, the anoying message

Maybe that "Leon ROM" was using the Holy Grail of Camera Drivers.
I have yet to see the HD2 use continuous capture (which is quite sad) and I hope HTC fixes its camera drivers et all so we can finally use it to its full capabilities!

Hello boys and girls
for the templates i have a solution.
1. you enable the theme in the registry
2. you rename 1 (any kind you want) from the templates in "Default-Template.gif" (without quote ) and
copy it to the \windows folder.
3. copy the gifs to the folder my documents\templates or Storage Card\my documents\templates (if the folder doesn't exits please create it).
3a. in germany is the name of the folder "vorlagen".
(Please be sure when you don't have a www- or ge-rom that you move it to the correct folder.)
4. enable in the camera
a) the theme
and
b) if you move the gifs to the storage card activate it in the camera-options last side.
But remember only 16 themes are visible.
The resolution is only 640x480.

Does that mean that if u add these registry codes; optional icons will appear in the camera mode for more settings?

Of course sevoflurane
You'll get 16 themes for our HD2
1. You edit with a reg-editor to HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P7 and change Enable dword from 0 to 1
2. you rename 1 (any kind you want) from the templates in "Default-Template.gif" (without quotes ) and copy it to the \windows folder.
3. copy the gifs to the folder my documents\templates or Storage Card\my documents\templates (if the folder doesn't exits please create it).

Hi!
I tried it and it works so far, but.. Is there any command line parameter to open some file?
I wanted to associate this notepad with .txt files and used standard command line: ShNotePad.exe %1, but notepad doesn't open the file.
Thank you!
Just to let you know that this works on my 2003SE device with .NET installed.
A request - Can you make it so it will open files other than .txt ? I'd like to use it to edit mortscript files on my device which end .mscr. Is this possible or is it a limitation of the operating system?

I concur with efrost here. When I associate txtfile with ShNotePad and then click on a .txt file, it simply opens the empty editor. It does not parse the parameter. I currently use Tillanosoft's Notepad. ShNotePad, albeit a tiny bit slower at loading, would be a massive improvement if it could be used as the default editor for txt files. Please Mohammad!

Yepeee!
Since I have your ear (if you don't ask you don't get), may I suggest one FINAL item for your wish list? It is to do with how most people use computers and, specially, PDAs: you are writing something using ShNotePad, the phone rings, you answer, you enter an appointment, do something else, forget about your notes, later you reboot your PDA, your notes are gone!
Would it be feasible to have ShNotePad to save all open tabs to temporary files as soon as the session goes to the background? That way when you come back to it all tabs will still be there, regardless of the PDA rebooting or not. I seem to remember the Windows text editor Notetab does something similar.
The issue of wanting to go back to a previous version could be resolved by saving any files with changes to a temporary file. When there is an explicit instruction to save, then the temporary overwrites the previous version. But until then you could have an option to "revert to previous".
I personally believe that with those changes this should be the editor of choice for all ROMers in these forums -don't forget to place the "donate" button to compensate for your sleepless nights

I can use the LingvoSoft Farsi keyboard and the Notepad program that comes with Pocket PC to do the same (type Farsi and English). I don’t understand the purpose of your program.

I don't speak Persian, so I cannot comment on its merits for that. The purpose of this program, just like the many other third party notepad applications to be found, is to edit and save plain text files, which the Pocket PC built in Notepad application does not. A specific advantage of ShNotePad is the ability of opening multiple files simultaneously with tabs. If you never need to do any of the above, then clearly you don't need this program

thanks for the update.
hey bro, nice app. hope 2 C your great jobs soon bring em on bro
Thank you very much!
It looks very interesting, but I had a couple problems with it on HTC TyTN II:
1. I associated *.txt files with the ShNotePad.exe program, and clicked on a test.txt file. Windows gave an error that the program could not be found.
2. From inside the program, I cannot navigate through folder beyond the first level hierarchy. That is, I can look at files in the top folders on the phone, but not in any subfolders.
3. I cannot open any files that do not have .txt extension.
If you get a chance, perhaps you can take a look.
Thank you!
Edit: Unicode files open correctly.
Looks good. And tried it.
1. It can view txt as well as unicode files very well. But, It cannot edit the unicode files. If I make any modification/addition in a unicode file and save that, it get converted into ansi file structure instead of unicode...
2. The font selection does not seem to be working.
3. When we close the shnotepad using"x" button, it does not ask for saving the information.
May be the above info help you...
other options...
There is another free Unicode/UTF8 Note program called UKNote - v0.0.0.7 ( http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1283 ), however I would go with FarsiNote, which is a true Unicode Notepad program for ~$10USD and works on WM5/6. You can copy and paste Farsi text from web pages into this FarsiNote and it would correctly assemble and connect Farsi characters together under Pocket PC ( http://shahabonline.com/FarsiPack/FarsiNote.htm ).

Make icon for application

I found this simple attached Wifi toggle application in XDA that is suppose to work on smartphones (WM6 standard).
I installed on my trinity and it worked, the only problem is that it does not have a icon!!
Can anyone help in making an icon for it? Also perhaps make the installaiton package to also make a shortcut to the startmenu?
Thanks in advance.
there is no need for a new cab file.
type
62#"Program Files\smartmadsoft\WirelessToggle\WirelessToggle.exe"?<path and filename to any dll>
into a shortcut file and save it to \windows\start menu\programs. it will autmatically appear in the start menu's programm folder.
Thanks for your help. But I do know how to make the shortcut to the start menu. The problem is that there will not be an icon for it. It will only show a generic white page for as an icon (the same icon fo invalid shortcuts even though the shortcut is correct). The problem is that (I think) the application itself does not have an icon because even the exe file doesn't show an icon.
answers to your two questions are already in my post:
how to make shortcut to program files to appear in the start menu's program submenu:
create a text file
type: 62#"Program Files\smartmadsoft\WirelessToggle\WirelessToggle.exe"
save it as wirelesstoggle.lnk
copy it to \windows\start menu\programs
how to add an icon:
add ?<filename>.dll,startnumber
to the shotcut file in one single line. if you do not have a icon dll file just use one of the existing like shellres.dll in the windows folder.
it should look like this:
62#"Program Files\smartmadsoft\WirelessToggle\WirelessToggle.exe"?shellres.dll,-13910
that will give you the beam-icon.

If your asking how to make a custom Icon, there are many free icon applications out there. ones i have used over the years:
mspaint - create any .bmp file you want then just rename to .ico
bmp2icon - takes a .bmp file you have and converts it to .ico, supports transparency.
IconChanger - can take an .exe and change the icon embedded to one of your choice. (this one might be what you need to just add an icon to the .exe you have)
GConvert - can convert pictures into .ico, can pull icons from .exe, can create icon .dll files (which can have multiple icons inside), has a batch function to convert many files at once.
Gimp - freeware type of photoshop, is kind of complicated, not for beginners.

if you want to use this - i had some strange behaviours when changing the icon after you have completed the whole shortcut file:
the old icon still remains visible. you have to rename the whole shortcut file to enforce display of the new icon.
i can't remember if a soft reset might also help.
Thanks alot egoist6, worked like a charm.

[5/4/2008] ichis - "Yet Another iPhone Hybrid Theme" for rlToday

Hello All,
I updated a few lines in my MortScripts, redownload the ichis.zip file and the new files are in the ichis directory, just overwrite the existing files in "\Program Files\rlToday\ichis\"
I wanted to release my rlToday theme. ALL icons are active and info is displayed. Let me know what you think.

To update weather:
a.) Either tap the one of the smaller icons (tomorrow/after tomorrow's forecast) if you are connected to the internet.
b.) Or, tap the big icon (current condition) to update via Google's SMS. once the message is recieved:
- Open the message
- Tap and hold and Select all
- Tap and hold and Copy
Then it will update the Today screen.
The reason I have an SMS option: I don't have a data plan other than when I'm at a WiFi spot. So, its really for me
If any of you get an error message, please post it here and let me know so I can add that icon/weather condition [Un]Fortunately, I live in New Mexico and its always Sunny and Clear, hehe.
AND I'd love feedback. If you use it, modify it, post your screen here!! I'd love to see what you guys come up with too!
Installation:
Inside the attached chis.zip file, you'll find everything you need:
1. Install MortScript 4.1
2. Install rlToday
3. Copy Sys-To-Reg-2.0 directory to \Program Files\
4. Copy cutouts.ttf to \Windows\Fonts\
5. Copy ichis directory to \Program Files\rlToday\
6. Run Sys-to-Reg-Install.mscr and allow it to run at Startup
7. Make ichis the skin in rlToday
8. (OPTIONAL) If you use S2U2 v1.00 or above, set the weather option to UserWeather in S2U2 Settings and copy the contents of the S2U2weather directory to \Program Files\S2U2\gfx\weather\
9. (OPTIONAL) Set the bg-black.bmp as your background with 0% transperancy via the WM Pictures & Videos application
10. (OPTIONAL) If you would like your own background behind the icons, I've included a bg.png file that has the transparency layer preserved and you may place another image behind it of your choice using your favorite image editor (ie. Photoshop) -OR- just make your favorite image your background.
11. SoftReset and Enjoy!
* Note: you may need to edit some of the applications that the skin.xml file launches. you can do so by editing the skin.xml file.
Recommended applications:
S2U2 by A_C
S2P by A_C
Google Maps by Google
Task Manager by DotFred.net
** I have my mail icon launching Gmail, if you don't have this account on your phone, you'll need to edit the gmail.lnk file to launch the appropriate account.
Special thanks to Mirko Schenk for MortScript, Allgemein and emerym at the rlToday forums and for Sys-to-Reg. Although Sys-to-Reg is currently version 3.0, I'm using 2.0 because it does what I need it to

And the reason for the update via SMS option is because I dont have a data plan

OMNIA : how to modify background in "Menu"

I've found how to modify the background of the "Menu".
First find the file Launcher.exe.T1.skin in \windows.
Then you must copy the file to your PC and open it (I've used Reshacker).
Then replace the images BMP No 212, 214 (for portrait mode) and No 213 and 215 (for landscape mode) with other bitmap images of the size respectively 240x374 and 400x214.
Finally overwrite it in \windows with Resco Explorer (or similar).
This is mine (as per attechet file)

Really great work, thanks
That's fantastic! Will give it a go later.
If theres a way to change the font color, it will be great !!
Is there also a way to change the collor off the bottem taskbar?
For those who are curious, these are some of the png images hidden in the Launcher.exe.T1.skin file (extracted on a mac with filejuicer and made a screenshot of the generated HTML file)
That's cool. Which program can I use for PC? And I managed to change the background but I'm still looking into changing the font colour.

Doesn't ResHacker allow you to extract or replace the menu png files as well?
No, for the PNGs, all I see is Hex code. I can only replace the Bitmaps.
Anyway thanks to the thread at MoDaCo I managed to find "secstresSilver96.dll" and "secstresBlack96.dll" in \Windows\ and all I did was rename it to "secstres96.dll" on my PC and using Resco Explorer or TotalCmd copy it back to the device and reselect Samsung Today 2 in the Today items and its done, you have a new Today menu, and you can change the fonts colour under settings\theme.

Hi,
is there a way to put other program shortcuts you want onto the menu or in exchange with other programs that you do not or seldom use?
Thank You!
Wow! This really works for my omnia!
It'll be perfect if someone can work out a way to change the font colors too
Hope someone can figure out this very soon!
Cheers!
Ok, I've done the whole procedure up to the last step. Resco tells me that the file "Launcher.exe.T1.skin" is in ROM and I could damage the phone by trying to overwrite the file???
Am I to understand that in order for this to work one needs to have it burned in a modified ROM ???
Haven't played with this burning ROM stuff so not sure if my reasoning is right? I have the I2 ROM version so no need until now to change it.....
Thanks
I suggest you to copy the original file Launcher.exe.T1.skin somewhere in My Storage and then safely overwrite the file that Resco indicates be a ROM file. It's normal that there is this alert.
Nop! Tried that and Resco tells me it couldn't overwrite because the file already exists. So it IS in the ROM..... Well, one day I'll update my ROM and change this file at the same time. Right now I see too many people loosing their Omnia trying to burn new ROM versions. But thanks anyway.

It's the "Themes/Skins for Samsung Today 2 : Silver".
this themes/skin changing only icons on today screen , main menu background its still white and icons its still color check this video in 04:21 main menu its black and all icon its white or grey i trying do it same effect
Lol, you have the icons, now you just need to search for a 240x400 black background, that's not hard to find.
Edit : Oops sorry, i understand that what you want, you want to change the menu icons and the background, not change the today screen.
Than, i think you need to extract and edit the menu icons on photoshop, or somthing like that, because the menu icons not available with the same look of the today icons.
Update: using PE Explorer I managed to change the icons. I attach the file with the icons changed and I thank my friend Duncan for the support.
I attach the new file I've used as for screenshot

Photosphere feature in 4.2

So I was playing with Photosphere on my Nexus S, and a thought came in.
Samsung, or any other OEM's that make Android Camera, should work hard to bring 4.2 update to their Android Cameras.
Photosphere would be a standout/luring feature to promote their Android Cameras which are somewhat a new kind of product.
While Photosphere is still in beta and doesn't stitch very well, I think people still would like to try it out since it is something new and exciting.
Samsung, Nikon, you heard?
Hurry up before someone does it first.

Hi Robb
I followed your instructions and was able to download the App + Lib onto my PC and extracted the WinRar files.
I've copied them to my Galaxy Camera's Ext SD card and can copy them to the system directories.
But I'm not sure how to change permissions on the files.
Can you please explain how to do this? I'm a noob to Android.
Thanks.
I use photo sphere too on my galaxy camera and work fine.
So for your problem, you need to change right of the file like say on the link provide.
For doing that, you need a file explorer with admin right.
I use ES file explorer.
Once you install this file explorer, you need first to allow him to access to root, for that go to : Settings
Then on the boot you will found : Root settings
Enable everything there.
Then after enable the first one, you get a pop up inform you to agree to give right on Super SU. Do Yes and after agree to give right.
When done, go to your folder app and lib where you copy the file, found the file one by one and made a long push on the file for show a menu and choice option on bottom "Properties" that open a new windows.
There click on "change" button and enable everything in "Read" column and on user for "write" column then click "ok" and again "ok".
Do that for all files (5 if I remember well) and reboot the Camera.
You will got 2 new icon for camera and galery
Hope I'm clear ^^

Thanks David.
I've downloaded ES File Explorer and am having difficulty copying the files to the system/app directory.
First I connect the SGC to my PC and after the files are extracted with WinRar I copied them to the Download folder on the Camera.
Then using ES File Explorer I navigate to the Download folder and tried to copy/paste the files to the System/app directory but it gave the message that copy "GoogleGallery.apk" failed? The Gmscore.apk was copied OK.
What am I doing wrong?
I'll recheck the Root settings but I think I did that right as I can access the Root directory in ES File Manager now.
BTW, could it be because my SGC is not Rooted?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yes I think you need root your device for get right to change file in system/app folder or even right of file.
So first root your device, very easy for the moment due of Eqynox issue, uberNoobZA and cybriks on the forum confirm he can root with the tools from Chainfire.
You can read the full topic about root Galaxy Camera here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995245
Or go to page 5 firectly if you want use the method from Chainfire where uberNoobZA and cybriks confirm it work
The link about how to use the Chainfire tools :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297
This method should be the easy way compare to the one use Odin, so you should be able to use it, it's only an app you run and do eveything alone
So do it and then try again to copy file and change right and you probably can use Photo Sphere (I like this function ^__^)
