working on rooting quick question

I'm working on the rooting process. After i installed the windows 7 drivers it comes up in command prompt but it does NOT sync with HTCSync, the phone is completely set up though, is that normal? On my phone it says that it cannot find it on my PC.
If you're using 64-bit Win7, you've gotta install the Vista-64 drivers... there's a guide somewhere around here. If you're using 32-bit, I'm not sure what the issue is.

Windows 7 x64 unable to install drivers

struggling on what i thought was a fairly basic concept.
trying to unlock using davinci/simlock.
i've tried various drivers but nothing will install-
the abd drivers from the simlock website;
from the se developers website;
from a couple of forums where people confirm they work;
pc companion;
letting windows find and download.
everytime i get error message:
Windows was unable to install your SEMC USB Flash.
Windows could not find driver software for your device.
help! please
It is really strange. My win7 x64 has installed the drivers without any question. Have you got SP1?
Sent from my heart using a brain )

Nexus 10 MTP Windows 8

Hello All,
I have been unsuccessful at being able to connect the Google Nexus 10 tablet to my laptop running Windows 8 Retail Enterprise. When I connect the device to the laptop I don't get the MTP popup (asking me what would I like to do) however it correctly recognizes it as Nexus 10, lists it under the Devices section in the Control Panel and also lists it under the "Android Device" category in the device manager as "Android ADB Interface". However there is nothing under the Portable Devices category which is one of the basic requirements for MTP to work correctly on the Windows 8 platform as listed on MSDN on "Windows 8 MTP - Core Compliance Tests". I have the MTP option checked and USB debugging disabled in the settings panel.
Anyone else having the same issue or know how to resolve this?
Thanks in advance for any help.
I am posted the same here. Admins feel free to close this if you want.
Which version of Windows 8 do you have? More specifically, is it a N or KN version?
This is not development in any way. Please read the forum rules before posting. This belongs in the Q&A section. Thanks.
Unfortunately I do not run windows so I can't give you any information on this issue.

I updated the question. It's Windows 8 Enterprise.
Try uninstalling the Android device (uninstall software too), and unplug the N10 afterwards, then plug it back in.
