Hello, I faced a strange problem with my HD2. If I use "Sound and Display" tab in Setting page to change the sound profile from sound to vibrate or silent, the sound icon in the top bar does not change to vibrate or silent icon. Even though I change the profile to vibrate in the menu of "End" button, the icon does not change. However, if I change the mode by pressing the volume up or down keys, the silent or vibrate icon appears!!!
Anyone faced similar problem? Can anyone tell me how to solve it?
Thanks!!
Edward
After trial, it seems that the problem is due to a patch issued by HTC Hong Kong for CSL users only:
http://www.htc.com/hk-en/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=809&news_id=406
The patch updates several ROM files in HD2 (one is volume control service). After removing the patch, the icons work again.
It seems that HTC should test the patches thoroughly before releasing them.

Hi,
I have the problem that I can't change the volume of the speaker during a call. I have installed the most recent version of s2u2, AEButtuns (but without changing the volume buttons) and tf3d disabled. In s2u2 the "Volume control" is enabled. Volume control works when not in a call for the phone and the system volume, but not during a call, so i can't make the other party more or less loud. When i press the volume button in a call, the volume screen briefly pops up, but the value doesn't change, pressing the volume button again makes the control screen disappear (similar behaviour like the system volume control when volume control in s2u2 is disabled)... has anybody similar experiences and maybe a solution?
regards jan
Have You Installed Any Program Like Touch Response Or Vibration Feedback?
I Had Same Problem
After Unistall It All Ok!!
no, i haven't...
however, i have installed spb phone suite, pocket plus and mobile shell... but i can't remember when the problem occured the first time... in between i also tried phone weaver and phone alarm, but i have uninstalled both...
any more ideas?
regards jan
I think, its S2U2:
You have to set "DonĀ“t use the keyboard hook" at the S2U2-Settings to "ON" and the S2U2-Volume-Control to "OFF" -then all works perfect!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445712
For me, it works
thank you, but for me that doesn't work correctly: With these settings i can control the system and ring volume during a call properly, but i can't change the actual 'in-call-volume' (which means the volume how loud i can hear the other party talk)... can anyone check this?
regards jan
The new v1.37 of S2U2 fix this problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412418
Hi folks,
found another possible reason (but unfortunaly no solution yet) for in-call volume control not working... as this thread mainly focuses on s2u2, i've opened a new one here
regards jan
its nothing to do with s2u2. the in call volume is part of the hd dialer and when using the wm6 dialer, this feature is disabled. This is the same for pocket guard when not using the hd dialer. There is a cab somewhere that will diable the hd volume and revert to wm6 volume control. when i installed this the volume could be changed in call but messed up the font on all keyboards.
Are there shortcuts to activate/deactivate silent mode and vibrate mode or is the menu or volume button the only way? Sometimes I want to increase the volume and switch on vibrate, which doesn't seem possible unless you go into the menu. Also is there a way to set it to one ring only, or beep mode?
You can install any of the "switch mode" widget that you can find in Market, but the fastest way to change suond profile is push the volume down button for more than 2 seconds, phone will put in silent mode, then push once volume up to set it to vibrate. Push volume up for more than 2 seconds to restore full ring
Yep, seems to be the fastest way to change the volume and set silent, a bit annoying that it beeps along the way but no big deal.
But, if you do that to set it on vibrate, it doesn't seem to work for text messages... those stay silent because they have a separate setting to vibrate. WHY?!?!!!
Always seemed like an easy thing on symbian & windows mobile, you hold one button or a couple of clicks later everything is set to vibrate, especially useful if outdoors and can't hear messages.
I just hold down the END key and select "Silent Mode". Is that not an option on your phone?
Check out egg 'n stones' "Profiles" application in the market. You can define and set profiles from the application plus you can create shortcuts to any profile. For every profile you can set the volume of the different types of sounds (alarms, notifications, media, speech, etc.) It's my favourite profile manager.
Cheers.
thanks, i'll check it out
Or just install these widgets from Jerpelea's rom page. You can find the widgets link on the palm pre theme rom, 2nd post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538633
There is a really nice 1 button widget that sits on your home screen and you can press it and it cycles between silet, vibrate and ring.
Just allow the phone to accept 'unkown sources' in the application menu. Then access the widgets from the sd card (save them there) and then you can install them.
I have got a wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, brightness & volume widget that all have little blue icons that match downloaded from the marketplace..
there from Rounded Labs.. All free as well
my phone started acting weird lately. I can switch to silent or vibrating mode with the volume button when I first turn on the phone, but after I make one phonecall it stops that function and starts working as a up-down button that can navigate within the menu items and such.
I have checked all of the settings options that might have an affect on this, but couldn't find anything yet.
Any suggestions as for how I can fix this?
Vibrate all??
My volume buttons controlled all the notifications and sounds on my previous Android phones. That is NOT the case on the Samsung Vibrant. It will only control the volume for the incoming call ringer. I would have to go to settings for every notification volume to lower them and set them to vibrate. The only option I've found is t set the volume all the way down to silent on the side of the phone which will silence everything. The problem is, there is ZERO notification whatsoever. No led, no sound, no vibrate.
Isn't there a way to have the volume control all the sounds and vibration mode on the phone as a global setting?
On my volume bar screen, apparently the vibrate and silent buttons have switched positions.
The vibrate button used to be at the bottom below the silent, but now the silent is at the very bottom.
Any idea where the registry entry might be?
it's part of the HTCVolumeControl.dll file. I'm guessing you installed a taskbar icon pack (tsowen?)... I know that tsowen's taskbar icon pack switches that file for a different one which switches those 2 buttons & you lose some functionality of it.
While trying to adjust the volume on the HTC music player tab using the left hardware volume rocker the music temporarily cuts for about 2-3 seconds before the volume changes. There is no visual volume indicator on the screen either. Also the increments are pretty large.
Does anyone have this problem? Help please!
I have the same "feature"- except my volume increments are pretty small- I have to press volume up or down many times to hear an appreciable difference, but there is also no visual indication of volume change.
Are we alone with this issue?
Anyone else have this issue?
did you try launching the audio booster from inside music player menu? This should take control of the volume as well.....
About 90% of the time I get a speaker icon and horizontal volume indicator, and the increments are 15 steps from 0 to 100%.
The other 10% of the time, my volume buttons skip forward and back.
Go figure!
I have the same proble with 1.48 rom and 1.61 rom. I don't know what triggers the situation but mostly, it runs correct. Soft reset fixes the situation but I don't know why this happens.
Lately I have the same problem too.. In fact that once the visual volume indicator didn't appear, try tapping the upper taskbar.. the whole screen turns black and become unstable, thus needing a soft reset?
Any idea why???
Most of the problems with the volume overlay are due to custom task bar icons. If you select nice icons that are not fully compatible with your manila version, you have this problem with volume overlay.
If you come back to original status icons, you will see that music volume overlay work well.
If so, you have to find a set of taskbar icons compatible with your manila.

My taskbar icons are the original ones..never tweaked them before..
Perhaps there is some other thing that give you the problem with the volume overlay.
In my case was the taskbar icons.

Mine are all original too, however in two or three days time, the problem occurs. Just after a soft reset everything is fine. I've e-mailled to HTC UK about this problem and they told me that they're aware of the problem and developers are examining this. I kindly ask other users to e-mail their problem to HTC. Maybe a hotfix can come sooner.
Yeah I get this now and again... and then it clears up randomly. Then comes back at later date.
A slight workaround is to go to another tab and change the volume, then you get the grey menu with the 15 bars and it doesn't cause stutters in the music.
This is the best work around I've found. I've tried this with power toggles but it should also work with other apps.
On your power toggle widget, add the volume toggle.
On the widget, press the volume toggle once. Your phone will go into priority mode. Press it again and you should be in silent mode.
Reactle's Light flow will also push LED's in this mode so its just like the silent mode in KK.
I've tested most of the social networking apps plus incoming phone calls, Google messenger, Whatsapp and Email. Phone remains silent, screen does not light up ( have ambient display enabled on my N5 so that lights up) and LED is pushed through.
Let me know if this works
Cheers

Doesn't work for me, I can only switch between Priority mode (I guess, the star symbol appears in the notification bar) and ringer+vibration. I have to use the hardware volume button to bring up the volume menu, then choose priority mode (click it away without doing changes) and then I can use Power Toggles to set it to vibrate only or completely mute. This works only one time, so when I get back to vibrate+ring I have to go through the whole process again when I want the phone to be silent.
But this is the second time I installed Lollipop. The first time I did a rollback to KK shortly after, but during the first install the sound noticeably crackled during toggling and I also could get it to vibrate only, but not mute completely.
Since then Power Toggles received an update which brings the behaviour I mentioned first in this post, I reported this to the dev.
Good thing now is that you can toggle data connection with the actual version which didn't work before (needs Root).
Can you tell what your Power Toggles settings are or maybe upload a backup file?
EDIT:
I just tried out the Power Toggles Volume Slider and this one is working! You press it and it brings up a window with all the volume modes to choose from, it's two clicks and you have the phone in silent, vibrate, ring or ring+vibrate!
Two drawbacks though:
-Doing this leaves a card in the recen app slider
-The Power Toggles widget doesn't change so you only know if you're in priority mode (muted, star symbol in notification bar) or on vibrate (vibrate symbol in notification bar).
If you're on ring only or vibrate and ring there is no hint on the homescreen or the widget. You kinda have to open the slider menu again to be sure.
I have to try out later if all this really works and isn't just some optical feedback without any function.
That's strange, clicking on one of the toggles on the widget should not leave a recent app in the slider. It doesn't for me, never has.
I can tell I am in silent mode by looking at the PT Toggle. When in silent, it will show a struck out speaker. Otherwise it appears as normal.
Once again. this is the best workaround I could find and it's working flawlessly for me, so I thought I should share.

The recent app appears in the slider when I use the Volume Slider Toggle. This is also the only way I can mute the phone.
Maybe you can upload your PT config so I can have a look how you did set it up?
Attaching a screenshot. The rightmost toggle is the volume toggle.

Yes, for some reason I am having a different effect than you have, I can only switch between ring only and ring+vibration...I hope PT gets antoher update pretty soon.

Same here
Tried it on a couple of Nexus devices. Worked on all. Tried it on the OnePlus One today and worked as well.
Toggling the switch once is priority, what happens when you toggle it again? Does the volume icon strike out?
Notification toggle works like a charm.
I just found out you actually have to DEACTIVATE the ring+vibrate function in the Power Toggles "Volume Toggle" settings to get it working "properly"
Now I can switch between vibrate+ring / vibrate+ring in priority mode (star in status bar, no idea what kind of use this has) / silent (also with star in status bar) / vibrate only (with vibrate symbol in status bar)
Even though PT got the hiccups this week for some reason, had calendar notification sounds when it was on vibrate only and some other weird behaviour. A couple of reboots solved the problem so far.
Still, PT needs a huge update.
