n00b: how to change total look and feel ? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Hi,
I am a bit tired of my touch diamond, and hope to refind "the love" with a total new look and feel.
is this possible, and if so, what extra? software do you need ?
can you change the whole ROM software ?
current (original) rom:
12/27/2008 NLD 2.03.404.2
thanks for any help in advance.
greetz from Belgium !

anything is possible with a windowsmobile phone..
i suggest SPB Shell... a new gui...
i use it, and find it more flexible and usefull then manilla...

I've heard about this before, but as far as I know there isn't a tailormade solution. In general, it always helps if you cleanup your device before updating with a Hard Reset (holding camera button and Comm. manager button together, push the stylus in the reset hole, release stylus but keep buttons pressed until a message appears, then push the green Receive button.)
And do the same after update is finished.
I hope it will help. And remember, your device is not as sophisticated as your PC, try it more then once when it dont work out as you expected.
I See your dutch too.

Getting Live Messenger to work on the X1?

Hi there,
Installed live messenger on my X1 (in the phone mem) -> Windows_Live_10.6.39.1300_by_LazaPasi.cab
Did a soft reset and ran it. I cannot click "Sign in as", so I am not able to sign in at all.
Have tried a few other gestures that I found elsewhere in the forums, but they didn't work. Anyone here that can help me out?
My X1 came from T-Mobile NL.
Thanks!

Indeed, this is a big misinterpretation by the TS.

I told you read between the lines, I guess the support team is located in the Czech Republic, anyway I am sure it is gonna happen, but we will have than already a new device or does anyone here use a device longer than 12 months
I really don't know what this guy is talking about!
First of all, the dutch message contains faulty language and seems to be written by someone who is not really capable of writing correct dutch.
Second of all, it is clearly written that there has not been an official release of information about a possible release of windows mobile 7 for the HD2. Furthermore they clearly state that they don't know of any information about the possible release of Windows Mobile 7 so they can not give more information.
I can not read anything in this message about that HTC is unhappy with any comment of Leo users about the US version. The only thing i can read in the end of the message is:
HTC gaat de HTC HD2 in de VS leveren met dubbel aan RAM Uiterlijk is ook anders en zelfs 1.5 mm langer. Wat houdt dit in inzake de beoogde WM7 Upgrade, Dit is mijn 5e HTC maar als HTC dit niet oplost dan is het tevens mijn laatste en zo denken veel HTC HD2 gebruikers erover. MVG
Wich translates into:
HTC will release the HTC HD2 with double the amount of RAM in the US, the looks are different and it is even 1,5 mm longer. What does this mean for the WM7 upgrade? This is my 5th HTC but if HTC does not solve this, it will be my last and this is how many HTC HD2 users think about it. With Kind Regards
It sounds more like an empty threat of a frustrated customer to the customerservice, trying to lure them into making statements about the upgrade. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.
I wonder what the fuss is about the release of WM7 for HD2 anyway. I am quite confident that even if it will not be released, there will be custom rom's available that do enable WM7 on the HD2.

You have to remember that every version of Windows Mobile from 5.0 to 6.5 has been based on the same version of Windows CE (version 5.2). WM7 leapfrogs all the way to Windows CE 7.0. A completely new OS kernel requires a completely different driver architecture - it's a very different proposition to upgrading a phone from (say) 6.1 to 6.5.
That said, it is widely rumoured that there is already a version of WM7 running on the HD2 that is used by HTC (and possibly by Microsoft) for testing purposes. If that is leaked then we may well see cooked ROMs based on it - although whether they will be anywhere near as well optimised as the released version is another question.

2 devices (HD2) to be precise at the HTC HQ, with WM7 for testing purpose
Eh? What are you trying to say here? The mail reveals absolutely nothing... Here is a literal translation:

Dear,
About the possible update to windows mobile 7 no official information has been released.
So I don't see what the reports about Tmobile would change about this. I can not give you any information about this, since no information is known to us about a possible update to windows mobile 7 for the HD2.
Kind regards,
I am just an Engelsman, but I happen to speak Dutch (don't ask why), and I don't think a real Dutchman (or Fleming) wrote that answer, it is not grammatical even for my eyes/ears. I can't read anything into it one way or the other.
I think we need to try harder ...

[Q] Android roms in dutch language ?

I am planning to flash my hd2 to android.
1. is there a rom that is dutch ?
2. can i use a market to download software on the hd2 ?
3. is it possible to flash it back to wm ?
4. wich android rom is recommended for stability, is must have working wifi and working bleutooth
4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918899 Alles werkt!
Please reply in English and Dutch, if you have to. Dutch only is not allowed on XDA, because this is an international community.
In regards to the questions by the OP.
1. Most of the Roms contain dutch language files nowadays. If you see an updated AOSP build (Android Open Source Project), dutch language files and dictionary are included most of the time. I myself use an AOSP Gingerbread ROM for Nexus One (see sig), which has dutch too.
2. Yes, you can. Your phone will identify itself to the Market as an Android phone.
3. Yes, you can. Just flash an original stock rom for your device from SD, which will erase HSPL, MAGLDR and flash WM again. Your phone will be as it was when you opened the box.
4. Just make sure install MAGLDR 1.13 and CWM (Clockwork Mod Recovery). It gives you the possibility to do full backups (and restores) and will offer you the possibility to try many different ROM's. Most of them are stable, check the 1st post to see what's working, what's not. If you look at the number of views and replies on a topic, you can figure out which are the most popular. Just look for the ones with CWM or ZIP in the title, this means they're flashable through CWM. For now I'd start with Froyo (Android 2.2.x) as they're probably best to begin with (most stable).
Sincerely,
Mac
